Guest Blog – Quincy IL

Thank you, as always Quincy for this outstanding recap of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, I just love this show!

Tabatha’s Salon Takeover Week Two

Managers from Hell

Tabatha was asked by Tim and Alexis the owners of the Christopher Hill Salon in Brentwood, California, to help them save their salon. Alexis thinks that they are in $200,000.00 debt and they will be homeless after their mortgaged their home 16 months ago to start a salon business. Tim informs her that they are actually $300,000.00 in debt. Alexis looks shocked and angry. Neither Tim nor Alexis have any salon experience. Alexis has a MBA from USC. She tells her staff she was cum laude.

Undercover Surveillance.

Tabatha knows what is wrong immediately after watching how Alexis and Tim interact with their staff when they were secretly filmed. Alexis wants to run the salon as if it was a business selling products rather than services. Tabatha states that these two owners have no idea how to run a salon.

Tabatha tells Tim and Alexis that she is going to help them. Alexis, distraught and crying, hugs a dressed in black Tabatha who is a little taken aback by the emotional mother to be. Tabatha does not hug as a rule, but she also does not push away women who are six months pregnant with their second baby especially women who think their whole world is crashing and they will be homeless with two children in a few months.

Staff Interview

Tabatha notes that the walls of the salon are s*** brown. The chairs and many of the pieces of furniture are fine. The staff has worn out hair brushes and supplies are low. They are selling a perfume that hides the smell of dirty bathrooms. Tabatha does not think that product should be sold in the salon. The salon is clean.

There have been a number of staff turnovers in the 16 months that Tim and Alexis owned the salon. Two left last week. Seven have been to date by Alexis. Alexis states that she was glad she fired them. Alexis would like to fire Tiffany, a fairly new receptionist who tells us that she has had no experience with salons and that the couple has failed to train her. Alexis wants Tiffany to multitask but will not let her do the work that she was told to do.

Alexis gets her hair done free a minimum of three times a week and is upset that Tiffany and others are taking that time for their hair after they were told that this was a perk for working in this salon. Alexis’s hair looks fantastic. Tiffany could use that wash and blow dry. Tiffany looks frightened and fears for her job.

Salon Takeover

Tim hands the key to Tabatha.

Inspection

Tabatha finds that Marcel has a favorite hair brush that has bristles worn away. She sits in the expensive shampoo chairs and looks up to the drop ceiling to see tiles missing and broken. It’s the ugliest shampoo room Tabatha has ever seen. Tabatha feels that the salon has potential and is impressed that she can’t find filth in sinks and dust over mirrors.

Staff Meeting

The gloves come off of the employees hands. They are miserable. They are disparaged by Alexis. She does not respect them or their profession. They have been called, “dumb people” and “stupid” by Alexis. Tabatha points out that it is Alexis that is uneducated.
Tabatha tells us that the people failing in this salon are the owners Tim and Alexis.

Tabatha brings in models to assess the skills of the stylists. They do amazing jobs in customer service, styling, and color. Many of the stylists have years of experience. The owners are not taking advantage of the knowledge and skill of these professionals.

Tabatha insists that both Tim and Alexis have a lesson in cutting hair from Kevin, a very capable stylist. Both of the owners have great difficulties. Tim is beginning to see the issues that he really faces and they have to do with his very pregnant wife. The staff complains that Alexis has yelled at Tiffany at least 16 times in front of staff and customers. The staff knows that this is wrong, but Alexis is clueless. Alexis listens to the criticism and is upset. Tim is bothered that she feels this is personal because he feels it is business. Alexis shows anger at Tim for placing her in this position. Alexis cowers Tim, who seems to want to change. Alexis is very defensive as Tabatha explains that Alexis has mishandled her staff and caused many of the problems in the salon.

Home Visitation

Tabatha tells the couple that they are throwing a surprise dinner party. They look shocked, but prepare a dinner for a large number of people in their yard. Alexis thinks a famous stylist is probably going to show up because that happens in many Tabatha Salon takeovers, but when the doorbell rings Tabatha and their employees are on the doorstep. The group has a nice dinner with white wine on the table. We learn that the name of the Salon, Christopher Hill, came from a brother and mother of Tim who recently passed away. (Hill/ Hillary) The staff tries to bond with Tim and Alexis who seem odd, standing apart from the group at times.

Salon Remodel

The walls have been painted an off white and there are large colorful painting placed throughout the facility. Repairs have been accomplished. The stylists got nice rubber mats under their chairs and new equipment which they love. Everyone is told to organize and they happily get to work.

Reopening

This is the dream staff that most salon owners hope for when they purchase a salon. Kevin and Carol have made business plans for education and customer service that impress Tabatha. They worked during the 3 days of the remodel to create these plans as they hope the salon will succeed. Kevin believes that the salon, located in Brentwood, could make 2 million dollars a year easily.

Alexis tells Tabatha that she is disappointed that they did not receive a new full sized refrigerator and Tabatha simmers. Normally Tabatha would let someone like Alexis have it, but Alexis is pregnant so Tabatha restrains herself. Tabatha does take Tim outside to tell him that Alexis complained about the lack of a new, full sized refrigerator and explains that she and Tim are the real problems here. Tim feigns acceptance. He says he got his balls back and will wear the pants in the salon. Tabatha seems to know better.

The staff requests that Tiffany, the receptionist, receive training and be given a second chance. Alexis stands right next to Tiffany intimidating her. She never leaves the front desk. Alexis wants Tiffany to multitask, but the girl states that she was not allowed to do her job.

Tim comes up to the plate and tells his wife that she can stay home more with the baby. Alexis nods, but you get the sense that Tim is going to be de -balled when he arrives home that night.

Tabatha suggests that Kevin be promoted to manager of education and that he be allowed to hire as he knows what a good stylist is. Carol has 40 years of experience in salons and she is appointed the manager of customer service. Alexis and Tim put Tiffany on probation. All is well.

Follow up

Six weeks later, Tabatha shows up and hardly recognized the staff because there has been a huge turnover. 90% of the staff is gone. Tiffany was fired by Alexis. Kevin tells Tabatha that he made the suggestions that Tabatha liked, but never heard from Tim and Alexis about them. Carol’s input was rejected and she was moving on soon. These stylists were successful and had clients that will probably follow them. Tabatha knows that the salon will fail and it will fail because Tim and Alexis have failed. Tabatha hates failure.

Thanks again Quincy, always a great job!

    Great job, Lynn.

  2. Kat says:

    Great blog Quincy.
I don’t watch the show but will try to see it in reruns.
Tabatha’s interview with Lynn made me want to give her a chance.

    • Blue Sky says:

ditto, enjoyed your recap Quincy. Does Bravo realize how much $ they are losing because you & Lynn are making it more fun to read your recaps, so I don’t need to watch the shows? lol

  3. I really like this particular episode. I also have had high profile jobs but am always amazed at the lackluster or common sense for people who are highly educated who make really poor decisions. I have been victim to poor project managers/ regional managers and could only remember I am making a decent paycheck while you cant fight City Hall. This is an excellent example of skillz, talent, street smarts and passion will rule the verld!! Well atleast the beauty world ;-) .. LOVED IT!

    • quincyil says:

That MBA wasn’t of much help. Why would she think that firing people solves problems? Tabatha knew that the stylists were the top of the top. She was really impressed. I wonder why they didn’t start their own salons. When the couple go into bankruptcy, maybe Kevin and Carol can buy the place and make it work.

      • I wondered that myself! As a solon owner, you can start out small, scrape and save for the shiatsu chairs!! lmaoo!!

It was said that it was a really good location and wonder what the rent is on that place. Rent can be the biggest expense for retail/service owners.

I was thinking of owning a salon myself to git me hair done 3 days a week! ;-)

      • Rabble Rouser says:

You would think with her MBA, she would know the first rule process control is “If you can’t measure it it, you can’t manage it”.

How can one measure procedures they don’t understand? Or manage people when the desired performance isn’t clearly defined- especially when it’s not understood by those who are suppose to run it.

  4. Adgirl says:

Thanks Lynn! I don’t usually watch this show but sat down for a few minutes to watch Tabitha at your recomendation.

I wonder why people buy salons or restaurants (service businesses) when they know nothing about them! They shoud stick to corporate work.

    Great blog!

    • Adgirl says:

Thanks Quincy. I have no idea how you (or Lynn) have the time to watch & blog when you already have busy lives!

  5. nancy says:

Sorry, my bad, need to give credit where credit is due: Great job, Quincy. Love to read all your comments and posts.

    • quincyil says:

They were $300,000 in debt back then. I bet they lost their house too. The husband seemed pistol whipped to me.

    • quincyil says:

my bad too…. LOL… That’s what happens when you multitask.

I read your posts too, Nancy.. I read and enjoy the entire board.

      I really learned a lot.

  6. TrueLifeDiva says:

    Great blog QuincyIl :-).
Ugh! The salon color was horrible. When Tabatha did the staff evaluations, all the haircolor look greenish from the the wall color reflecting on the clients. It would be impossible to do an accurate color consultation or execute a color service with those walls throwing green like that. And apparently some of the former stylist complained about this. Alexis chose to fire the complainers rather than fix the paint color. A move that cost her $$$, only she’s too dumb to see it.
I’ve run across many salon owners like Alexis. They think being the boss means they can boss people around. Being the boss really means being a problem solver. And the problem with trying to boss around a hairdresser is we can pack up our tools and move to the next salon. I worked at a salon with an owner worse than Alexis. In the 3 months I worked there she clipped her toenails at the reception desk, gossiped about clients loudly, cussed my clients out, and had to be held back once from running up on me. And the funny thing is I was a booth renter, meaning I paid her rent, not her paying me. Well after I’d had enough I gave her a letter terminating out rental agreement, packed my stuff up, and went to work for the salon across the street. :-D

    • quincyil says:

Yes, when good stylists move, they take their customer base.

I see a lot of turn over around here, but times are hard and people have to make money for their families in whatever way they can.

  7. Had Enough! says:

You would be amazed how little most people know when they start or buy a business. They don’t know basic accounting principles. They don’t know how to track cash flow. They don’t know how to budget. They don’t know about the legal requirements like worker’s comp insurance, remitting payroll taxes, remitting sales taxes. They end up broke and in lots of legal trouble. This is really common; the failure rate of small businesses is astronomical and I suspect that it is as much about lack of knowledge about how to run a business as it is about knowing nothing about that particular business.

    • error404 says:

I agree. It was initially shocking that they knew nothing about the business they bought, but as the show went on the really shocking part was that the two MBAs made tons of critical business mistakes. Once Chris Hill goes under, Kevin and Carol can probably buy it and make a go of it. Maybe exposure form the show will help them get credit.

  8. American Idiot says:

Someone asked on the last blog how to contact ABC to complain about Johnny Weir. I just did, and it’s very easy. Just go to the SWTS website, scroll down to the bottom, where it say Company Information. Click on Contact Us. An email page comes up. You just have to choose a show, topic, add your email address, and type your message.
Hit send, and your complaint/comment is sent.

    • WindyCityWondering says:

I did it last night – Johnny Weir is unprofessional and needs to apologize to Bethenny and be removed from the show. I also state I would not watch anything he is associated with on ABC, it’s affiliates, networks or purchase products from any sponsor who uses him in commercials.

    • Buffywood says:

American Idiot, I owe you a huge thank you for recomending the book Unbroken. I started it yesterday and I am having the hardest time putting it down.

      • American Idiot says:

Glad to hear it. It’s a great read.

        • Earring Girl says:

@American Idiot – Thanks for the ABC.com info I just sent a long email to them about Johnny Weir and Lauriann Gibson unprofessional and constant personal attacks on Bethenny.

    • Shannon says:

Thank you. I finally figured it out last night. I was so mad after watching SWTS. I couldn’t believe someone could be so unprofessional.

  9. Had Enough! says:

Oh, and small businesses don’t get the need for a good website. Even if it is static, you need good photos, a phone number, address, and hours of operation. Guess what? The Christopher Hill Salon website is dead.

    • TLM says:

It actually says it’s down for maintenance. It’s very possible they are trying to respond to comments. I’m sure the relatively small sites crash after these shows air and people want to send comments — good or bad– to the owners, book appointments, inquire about jobs, etc.

  10. error404 says:

    Question

My Asian hubby and his family often pass off dysfunction as typical Asian culture I don’t understand, but I can never tell which is true and which is just their personal family dysfunction. LOL

So hubby says that Alexis, pregnant salon owner from hell, is just a typical Asian. According to him, all Asians act like they are the only one who knows anything and every other person on the planet is an idiot who can’t even spell their own name right.

    Any opinions?

    • WindyCityWondering says:

Her problem transends race! She is a self righteous tool who wasted a lot of money on a formal education.

      • quincyil says:

Her ancestors could have been here for 200 plus years.

      • TLM says:

Clearly this had nothing to do with race, as Alexis’ husband allowed the situation to develop and allowed it to return once Tabatha left. Just because he talks a good game means nothing. You have to look at what people actually do. And Alexis isn’t acting alone.

I’m sure the folks at USC were none too happy to hear their name being repeated over and over in connection with this summa cum laude grad. I don’t have an MBA, but really, does it take an MBA to know you should change the signage on your store awning to the correct name before you invest in top-of-the-line equipment? And don’t they teach you at USC that you need to research and learn an industry before jumping in? Don’t these two attend trade shows or belong to other trade associations for salons where they can get guidance on salon management? This is a perfect example of the fact that good grades in school don’t necessarily translate to successful people outside of school. I don’t doubt that Alexis got all A’s; I knew people in law school who did, but whom I wouldn’t want to get anywhere near clients or staff. The worst part of it is when they need to keep telling everyone where they went to school and what degree they have, as if that should entitle them to special treatment, or mean that other people should respect and look up to them. I think I wrote here before about a coworker who would tell everyone he had an Ivy League degree every time we were given a task he thought was beneath him. Really wonderful. Did that mean those of us who had the same degree, but didn’t go to an Ivy League, deserved to do the grunt work? I wanted to say, “You may have gone to an Ivy League, but you’ve got the same sucky job as the rest of us, so get over it. If your degree counts for so much more, then go out and get your high-powered job and let that be the end of it.”

I don’t think that Alexis is failing because she runs a salon. I think she would run any business into the ground because she does not know how to manage people and is toxic. I am wondering what she did in the corporate world she says she came from and what happened there.

I think the interesting thing with this salon is that all the things Tabatha usually has to tackle were NOT a problem: the stylists’ competence, the cleanliness and the work ethic. It was pretty unbelievable that they were not only good hairstylists (Tabatha was actually fine with all of them, and you KNOW she isn’t easy to please) but also were taking initiative to do work beyond their job description.

I actually didn’t see the decor as being a problem, except for those ceiling tiles that needed to be replaced in the shampoo area (unless I missed something). I don’t know why they were harping on the color of the walls – I have seen the makeovers use all kinds of colors, some of which I didn’t like. I thought it was a fairly neutral color. I didn’t see it as bad. I didn’t like the sections of wallpaper in the salon with the 4 Asian sisters that Tabatha put up; I thought it looked dated. But it is all a matter of taste.

        • error404 says:

Actually, I think the issue of “corporate america” vs ‘hair salon” was important. All of Tabitha’s advice about service industry and value of staff fell on deaf ears. This was because I agree with Alexis’ assessment of corporate america. In my experience, people are just cogs in a wheel in corporate US, replaceable at any moment. I have no doubt that her inability to see anyone as anything but easily replaceable was learned at business school and in a big $$$ corporation.

          • JazzNightOut says:

I agree with your assessment. Having worked in two corporations, my experience is that middle management are disposable. I’ll bet at some point, Alexis may have been disposable.

          • TLM says:

Unfortunately in this economy, everyone is replaceable at any time, and it’s a buyer’s market. It depends on the personality of the business owner. There are many who came from corporate life who would never repeat that style of managment because they saw that it just did not work, and it just isn’t their style. On the other hand, we’ve all known small business owners who would fire people at the drop of a hat because they’re crazy, narcissistic, or both. On LA Ink, the British owner of the competing tattoo parlor does just that, and I believe he just owns the one store. In contrast, Kat Von D gives people several chances to correct problems.

    • quincyil says:

I bet new comers and first generation Asians are quite similar to others in their homeland. If one of the parents is American (any ethnic group,) the first generation is more Americanized. I have close friends from India and Tawain. Both have quirks. Money, politics and religions are taboo topics in American social circles, but not in Asian circles. I know how much their house and car cost and how much they have in the bank. They share that information constantly.

      • Blue Sky says:

They must think that you need to know how successful they are. Really, it isn’t very smart to broadcast that kind of information. Some day they will learn to keep quiet about how much $ they have lol. Quincy these people sound exactly like the kind of people you should ask for charity donations!

I see something in Asians (who are not “Americanized”) that would be a problem if they own a business & manage employees: they give orders curtly, almost treating the employees very badly. I’ve seen it in restaurants, where they give curt orders to waiters. I’ve been to China & India. There are so many people, and the upper class does view the lower classes with disdain. In the USA, we don’t like to be treated as second class. Not saying there aren’t people born in this country with the same problem…I’ve seen that too.

How the employees are treated will result in how successful the business is. My family has been running a small drugstore for three generations. Some of the employees have worked there for over 40 years. How well you treat people is a mark not only of your own character, but will determine how hard they are willing to work for you.

        • quincyil says:

I know what you are talking about. My Iranian relatives do it too. They are the educated upper class and waiters are servant class. It’s so true.

I was actually told not to speak to my friend of many years who is a waitress at one of our restaurants when she was serving our table. Not only did I ignore that admonishment. When leaving I told my friend, the waitress that I loved her and gave her a hug in front of the other friends. They learned a lesson in how to treat people that day from an American.

All of our kids were in Scholastic Bowl and that requires many weekend trips with the team. You have to stay in hotels and our coach, an English teacher/ librarian would want you to stay in her room to save money. There were 20 teammates and three mothers that would drive. The naturalized citizen women would not take turns, did not donate their time or money, and were at times demanding advancement for their children which was unfair. This is the difference in how we Americans are raised and women of other cultures. We chip in. We pick up dirty plates at soup suppers. We help all of the kids, not just owr own. Honesly, it’a cultural difference. They went to lunch. I was sitting in a Decatur High School classroom helping their children.

          • Blue Sky says:

God I love you Quincy!! This is why the USA is a great country. And I’m right there with you, making the stinkers that move here from abroad learn a lesson in humanity. I have known many people that move here from abroad who are just like us, & the ones that aren’t…get ready for your ass whumpin’ cuz it just a matter of time…lol.

        • Kansas Girl says:

It CAN be cultural differences. But it can also be pronunciation/intonation problems. People who don’t have a good ear and are not good at mimicking the way we speak English sometimes drag patterns from their native language and it sounds bad to our ears. Example: I taught a Russian woman how to be an American-style teacher. Russian has a lot of downward intonation at the end of sentences or clauses, which she transferred to her English. She sounded demanding and curt. I told her she sounded like Hitler. When we softened that, she seemed warmer and kinder. Luckily, when she understood what the problem was, she could change. There are many who cannot change because they can’t really hear themselves.

Thus, I always try to pay attention to more than just how people sound when they set my teeth on edge. Often it’s not that they mean to be offensive, and they are clueless about why they get the reactions they do. (Pronunciation teacher rant!)

          • quincyil says:

Absolutely, but there are differences. Like the time my husband and I played tennis with a Thai OB and his wife. In the parking lot, while talking to us. He took off his gym shorts and changed into dress pants. I was in shock.

    • IMJ says:

My sister in law is from Vietnam and I can attest to the fact that it is cultural. Asian people have very strong opinions, especially when it comes to family.

      • quincyil says:

I think it’s all nationalities. Everyone but Canadians, which are the salt of the Earth.

It’s great to think your culture is the best, but to go to another country and look down on their people has to be universally rude. They would hate it if it happened to them. I actually have pointed out instances like the British in India or the British in Iran, where the Indians and British were treated as second class, but they don’t get it.

        • quincyil says:

and Iranians… made a mistake there.

        • Buffywood says:

When I was in high school I traveled through Europe for the summer. I was warned about how important it was to make an effort to cummunicate as much as possible in that countries native language, especially in France. One day in Paris I need to do some laundry so I went down to the hotel’s desk. I couldn’t remember the french word for laundrymat so I asked “Où est un lieu pour moi de me laver les vêtements” or “Where is a place for me to wash my clothes?” They said “Laundrymat” and howled with laughter… Yes, it is the same word in both english and french… They really did enjoy though that I made the effort.

    • Amber...Real Wife says:

      @Error

      I believe your husband. LOL

Didn’t see the show, but I had a girlfriend in high school, 1st generation chinese. Their are a quirky few who believe themselves to be smarter, better and richer than all of us. I guess that can be said for any nationality, but the owner Alexis, is similar to the JAPS (JewAmPrincess), probably raised to believe she is above all. Link that with marrying a caucasion, and ruling over a predominantly white staff in an affluent area and she’s CruellaDeVille come to life!
Per my girlfriend, a few asian girls, heavily assimilate caucasion culture, date only caucasion and even do the eye surgery to appear less asian.

    • Cusi77 says:

When I was living in Paris in the early 90′s I had a classmate at Alliance Francaise who was from China, She was Geneticist. She told me about the new rules when young people married and swear to have just ONE child to reduce the population pyramid. Even if the marriage dissolved, they were willing to not have another child.

How that decision has affected the society today? One child, two parents, 4 grandparents. Today in Europe they are strongly criticized. I know it for a fact. They (the only child) suffer when confronted with reality that he/she is not that special, and has to share, to wait in line, like everybody else, to follow rules, like everybody else, etc.

      • Kansas Girl says:

True! Right now there is a huge influx of young Chinese into American universities (and other countries too), and they are very different than Chinese students used to be. The “saving face” concept is foreign to them. They are empowered, self-centered, and have material desires beyond my comprehension. In class, they talk to their friends, use their electronic equipment, have no idea what’s going on. Teachers are tearing their hair out to get through to them that these behaviors are not appropriate. Last semester my class studied advertising and how media manipulates us. They did not care. I wanted them to understand that advertising for the latest phone was influencing them to buy a product. Their response was simply I NEED THAT PHONE. I had to laugh. It takes quite a few months before they realize how foolish they are, and some never realize it and fail.

They are the future. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

        • Blue Sky says:

If it gets really bad here, meaning people who treat others with contempt because they are not “high class” enough, then we could move to Canada. That’s my plan, especially if global warming really happens, then the weather in Canada would be perfect. Plus they have universal healthcare there, another bonus.

          • quincyil says:

Yes, I’m thinking British Columbia in one of the houses that they use for Stargate Universe.

            • ches says:

I’m impressed Quincy. Another Stargate lover. Or were you just planning on escaping through it at some point?

      • Cusi77 says:

Hey Quincy – nice blog. Your recap was spot on!
Tabitha is getting easier to watch because she is really trying to reach the people who ask her to help on levels they should be able to understand. Lynn’s interview gave her more dimension as did her appearance on WWHL. Salon Takeover is now officially in my Bravo show rotation.

  12. AZ Girl says:

Thanks for the re-cap QuincyIl. I had my early bedtime last night for a 4 a.m. wake up call for 5:15 spin class. I am never able to watch Tabitha but your re-caps make up for it.

I have been noticing the last week Lynn’s blog has been hit with a few “dissenters”. i.e. Quincy’s report on Dina’ Ladybug and Johnny W’s ridiculous behavior on SWTS.

HWONY filming now and stuff about the filming leaking out through twitter and other sources seems like the trolls may be multiplying. I am kinda looking forward to seeing what happens. Jill and her people I have no doubt are reading this site and are ready and waiting to hit. Oh joy.

  13. quincyil says:

I am not a fanatic when it comes to anyone. Everyone is Human and makes blunders. It’s picking yourself up and dusting yourself off that impresses me. Take Alex and Simon in their first season of NYC RH. That was a disaster. Simon was called a falling down drunk by Jill in the New York Post’s Page Six. Can it get any worse? Yeah…. they looked pretentious when talking about rising in society when their house was “under construction” an the entire family with personal belonging were in a small room in the basement. I bet Alex still cringes when the hamburger stabbing scene pops on her tele. Look at how they changed the perception of the public. They stood up to the bully, Jill. They improved their home. They showed themselves to be good parents. When a friend was in need, they were loving and supportive. Alex got fired and she made lemonade from lemons.

So now, lets consider the plight of Johnny Weir. He has shown himself to be petulant. He failed to give comments last night which is a part of his job. He has a chips on both shoulders. His friend Jill is supporting him on twitter when he is being unfair to Bethenny in the judging process. That twitter is evidence that he is under her influence. I wonder why ABC is allowing this. Perhaps, they like the ratings. When Bethenny is kicked off the show the ratings will plummet. I doubt this is the end of his career though. There are lots of Johnny Weirs out there making a lot of money.

    • Had Enough! says:

Quincy – you nailed it. If someone makes an effort to improve…ala Silex…YAY. That is what it is all about, whether you are on Bravo or just a nobody like me.

I have to admit that some people may have dug the hole too deep to ever be fully redeemed. As much as you try, sometimes the basic “who you are” is just not very likeable. Still, you try. You become self-aware. You attempt to stop yourself from behaving that way. That’s all anyone can ask of you – that you try, try, and try again.

There have been times when some of us have even praised Jill Zarin – for the good things she does, for keeping a fairly low profile and focusing on her family and the other good things in her life over the summer…heck – I complimented her yesterday on her photo. I don’t think she can really change who she is underneath all the good things, but I would certainly give her credit for trying if I saw evidence of it.

    • 2Stupid says:

However, as mentioned upthread, if anyone had any doubts about JZ changing for the better here is your proof. I also have little to no respect for Jill because of her behavior off camera. Before last season, she took every opportunity in every interview to paint Behtenny as uncaring. She made it seem like Bethenny didn’t care about Bobby and was completely self absorbed. You can google the interviews and see for yourself. To say that Kelly was bullied after the way she treated a HIGH RISK pregnant person is nutso! I am sorry, I know what we see is not “reality,” but Jill’s behavior is just WRONG. Maybe Bethenny did use her a little bit, but we see Jill use people in about every episode. I think Johnny Weir will maybe lose some credibility over this. I think everyone that aligns themself with Jill loses credibility, and not because I am some crazed Bethenny fan, but because she is just not honorable or trustworthy. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest!

      • quincyil says:

Didn’t Alex imply that she was doing things with Jill this season? I thought there was something on twitter.

They have to work together because of the show, but I doubt that they ever speak to each other in private or visit when not filming.

There’s a salon owner in the show this year. She’s single with twins. I sure hope Jill doesn’t play matchmaker again.

        • LynnnSoCal says:

Get ready for “bedazzled va-jayjay’s! Cindy Barshop is making a fortune doing this. Picture JZ and friends ala Kyle Richards in last week’s rhobh. Vision be gone!

        • Blue Sky says:

Uggh, feeling really queezy now…that will be one episode that will require a barf bag to watch, right?

    • TLM says:

Who wants to bet Camille will be on SWTS season 2? That is, if it isn’t canceled?

    • Blue Sky says:

Maybe someday Johnny Weir will realize that he’s being used by Jill, time will tell. He is awful all on his own, the hair do last night was…ugggh. He was responding to Bethenny’s comment on a previous show that she doesn’t care what the judges said (as their comments had been withering of her skating, her costumes, her smile, even her personal life!), she is doing SWTS for her fans. So now he says he won’t give her his comments. And there I was, breath abated, awaiting God’s gift to skating to see what our dear Bethenny needed to do to be the bestest skater….lmao at what a jerk Johnny Weir made out of himself! Don’t you worry Bethenny honey, he is just making a bigger fool out of himself every week he’s on. Bethenny I am in awe of you. Love you girl!

      • Blue Sky says:

Although I only vote for Bethenny on SWTS, that hunky Olympic medalist currently in the lead is my secret favorite…nice on the eyes & the ice!

      • WindyCityWondering says:

Dick Button looked embarrassed by Johnny’s tantrum and Laurieann tried to pull him back to no avail. For him to use the plural in his rant was stupid as the other two judges did not agree with his “ass”essment of Bethenny’s performance. Because he has publically said he is friends with Jill – there will be blowback by association on her (yeah! another reason to hate her and the new season isn’t even in the can) and for those national viewers who don’t follow Bethenny – he has made her the coveted underdog.
The announcer called it “War on Ice” and IMHO Bethenny could kick that little wanker’s ass with her sequins tied behind her back!

    • T-Rex says:

Quincy, I realize that you are the better person, you are awesome, and I love your Recaps and subsequent posts! Johnny W did a film, prior to the Olympics, on his life, it was aired on the IFC(Independent Film Channel). I loved him after the film, me and my fellow Gay-Friends were so in synch with everything he stood for. We rooted for him regardless of what anyone said about him. He has CHANGED, don’t know when it happened, he is not the guy from that film. However I do suspect some JZ influence, only regarding Bethenny. JZ is flat out Jealous and using him as her outlet

      • TLM says:

I think you are referring to the show Johnny Weir: Pop Star On Ice. It was an hour long I think, and stood alone as a film, but it was also the first episode of the rest of the series, Be Good Johnny Weir. I think the episodes which followed were 1/2 hr long, but don’t quote me, it’s been a year or 2 since I saw them.

  14. Mimisfbay says:

Great blog, thanks! I was so disappointed in the 6 week checkup. I was sure that Tim had gotten the message and stepped up to the plate. Alexis is a control freak and watching her hover over the receptionist was disturbing. Her staff had her pegged…she is arrogant and overestimates herself and underestimates others. That is not a cultural or racial trait. So sad…I hate when they don’t get it. Tabatha was, using her word, gobsmacked when she returned. I hate when that happens, oh, and I still hate Jill Zarin.

    • quincyil says:

He obeys his wife and loves her so much that he can’t stand up to her. He could have turned it around. Tabatha gave him the tools to run the business. He went into old patterns and now he is stuck.

    • Blue Sky says:

Some people just cannot succeed at operating a business, and are doomed to fail. Too bad she’s smart enough to get an MBA but cannot assess her own lack of basic people skills.

  15. BaaBee Loves Kitties says:

    Hi All~
Just wanted to tell you all happy holidays~posted on previous blog but just wanted to say I am so sorry for all your losses & I have been where a lot of you are now.
I still think this is by far the best blog I have seen for bravo fans like me & all of you.
I love the way Lynn runs it & I am so happy for all her success. Quincy is a doll & funny as hell. All of you are as sweet as can be & would love to post here without any fear.
Thanks for a place to come & talk about stuff that matters to all of us.
The O C Wives are on bravo now. Finally got HD TV & they look wild so clear.
    Peace To All~

    • quincyil says:

I have the only tv in the house without HD… I think I am going to have to protest loudly. Congrats on your tv.

    • Buffywood says:

Welcome to the madness and Happy Holidays to you too. Regarding your post…. what a nice way to enter into a room. I hope to see you more often around here.

    • Blue Sky says:

Welcome to the “Lynfam” & please post more often. Happy Holidays to you too, and to all on this board, enjoy the holidays. Then get yourself into a gym, or back to walking, so that 2011 will be your healthiest year ever! Applies double to me, lol. Peace & love to all, pray for the end of the Afghanistan war.

    • JazzNightOut says:

Welcome BaaBee; glad you are here!

  16. Kat says:

@Adgirl~ I’m so sorry but my pinky is now smoking.

  17. Cusi77 says:

Thank you Quincy for this great Blog on Tabatha. I did not have intention in watching but your recaps are soooo good that I finally get her!

WOW! Lynn! What a great interview with Sonja Morgan! You made the right questions, the things we would love to know about her and her interaction with her cast mates… you were absolutely great! And Sonja! Oh my! She is really nice! Well grounded and gracious to give. I like her very much and the interview went very well! Congrats!

  18. AZ Girl says:

It is amazing that one simple twitter to Johnny Weir last night by Jill and we are all reminded once again what she is all about. Then she deletes it like a fool.

I love the way Simon handles Jill. Especially wearing a caftan to her birthday party made from the linens she is trying to sell at Bed Bath and Beyond. Jill is a shill.

  19. Had Enough! says:

Anyone going to watch The Fashion Show tonight? I don’t watch it but might have to make an exception tonight.

    • error404 says:

Ha! I was thinking just the opposite. I’ve seen every episode thus far, but may skip tonight. Yes, that is how much I hate the RHoNJ!

    • quincyil says:

I think so. rotfl…. Reminder…. the NJ and OC Girls meet Calvin tonight.

Also.. even though we hate her… Patti has Judith Reagan, Jill’s friend. Jill is in the promo for the show…

      • LynnnSoCal says:

Quinceeeee! Thanks for the great read! Forgot my manners. As I work with kids all day , can’t believe I did that! Are you recapping Fashion Show? I just can’t watch it. T Jew-Dice is more than I can stomach. I quit RHONJ. Just too crude, crass, trash. Rather snark with my LynnFam!

    • lillybee says:

To me it is must see TV. In the promos Tree looks like an idiot.

  20. TLM says:

Can’t believe RHOOC is on now. Kinda weird to go back there, while Tamra & Vicki were still both married, Lynn was still in her giant house, Jeff was alive and Jeana was heavy. Weird flashback.

  21. BaaBee Loves Kitties says:

    I usually don’t watch either but I definitely will tonight~should be hysterical~

  22. BaaBee Loves Kitties says:

Thank You So Much Buffy & Quincy~
    Makes me feel so welcome~

  23. Rabble Rouser says:

    Great blog Q!

    Look what I found….very interesting!

    http://www.yelp.com/biz/christopher-hill-salon-los-angeles-2

    • quincyil says:

      very interesting indeed….

It said under new management, but the new management would change the name away from Christopher Hill most likely. Most of the comments are in the last two days so it seems other fans of Tabatha went hunting for the salon and I bet the salon managers have not looked in their comments section because Alexis would delete those comments.

      • Rabble Rouser says:

I am sure she would too. I noticed they added a special discount only 4 days ago, they must have anticipated hits on the site. They just took their webpage down.

  24. Buffywood says:

Quincy, where are my manners. I really enjoyed your blog; thank you. I use to watch her show a while ago but haven’t for some time. Between Lynns interview (which I loved) and your blogs I have a renewed interest in both her and her show.

    • quincyil says:

LOL, there’s no need, but thank you very much.

I have an appointment, but keep my seat open at the kitchen table.

  25. Rabble Rouser says:

I also found the salon website- but just as I started to look at it- they took it down.

    http://christopherhillsalon.com/

There was a section that said “About Christoper Hill”. I wanted to see if the myth was still posted- but…..blamo…..they took the site down.

  26. Amber...Real Wife says:

    Great blog Quincy!

I missed it last night but will definitely catch it on a re-run. Great to know at least one salon was clean. The chaos was obviously within the female owner. If she was as bad as you described I wonder if she blames her husband if/when the business fails? YUP! Tabitha, with a proven track record comes to give you free advice + a salon makeover, yet six weeks later you’ve had a 90% turnover rate and are in dire straits. I think there is something wrong with management. She worried about a fridge instead of improving her relations with her staff and getting out of debt. SAD

    • quincyil says:

What an eye awaking event for someone. Alexis wanted stuff to go with the stuff she had purchased for the salon. She thought a famous salon director was coming to her dinner and was stuck with her employees. She was upset and hiding in a corner at her own party.

Alexis thought that the employees were at fault for her financial situation. I bet today she blames her husband or staff and not herself.

      • kbinldo says:

She probably thought she was “too good” to socialize with her employees. People like Alexis treat people like crap, then wonder why they have no loyalty.

  27. BaaBee Loves Kitties says:

Thank you all for being so kind. Will be back after watching one life to live~missed all my children but can always watch tonight. Only 2 I still watch for 30 yrs.

  28. Debbie says:

Hi to all. Happy Holidays. It’s been awhile since I posted but needed to send some love to Lynn and LynnFam. I love this place so much, I just don’t say much as I am not as well spoken as most of you. Anyway, About last night, I found Johnny to be incredibly unprofessional and quite the jerk. The whole thing was so ridulous that it spilled over onto twitter so much, I was suprised that it wasn’t a trending topic. Onto today, the nut job that is JenSales has written an exact opposite account of what happened and what was said on the show. She and her croonies are now bashing Bethenny fans and Our LynnFam. I don’t really hate anyone but this nutjob calling me and Bethenny fans drunks/pill poppers is enough to dislike her A LOT. I wish I knew how to post tweets but I will just say that she is mean spirited. (My drinking and pill taking is none of her business)LOL. Sorry to ramble but I do truly like Bethenny and She got hosed Davey. Peace and loe to you all, Debbie

    • Kat says:

I hope twitter has a cyber fire and burns to the cyber ground.

      Hi Debbie.

    • Buffywood says:

After all of the talk here about Little Jonny Weird I did a Google search to see what was going on and saw the same Jen Sales article. I believe she simply takes the “opposite” side just to be an instigator. Maybe that her path to try to make herself relevant; but of course we all know that she isn’t.

I think it is safe to say that even the “Main stream media” is saying he acted very unprofessionally. I would really like to see all of his past comments consolidated into one video for all to see. I don’t think there was one piece of constructive criticism that came out of his month yet to B. He is just one angry little boy.

    • Amber...Real Wife says:

      Hi Debbie.

WHAT? Did I hear correctly that JenSales, the unprofessional blogger, is talking about B’s fans as being pill poppers and drunks, the outrage! She’s got cameras watching us and that is invasion of privacy! LOL So what we pop a few pills with our SGMargaritas, and call and text for B to win SWTS while we drive to buy more SkinnyGirl books, dvds and liquor. It’s nobody’s business but our own! Sing it ladies/Error…

If we pop pills and drink on Monday
and continue all week until Sunday
ain’t nobody’s business but our own!

Her blog numbers must be low, it seems she looking for a fight to bring some traffic to her place. Sorry lady, term used ever so loosely, I’m not falling for it. I’ll give Lynn the hit, and talk about you right here! ;)

      • OneMoreInBoston says:

“She’s got cameras watching us and that is invasion of privacy! ”

        snort

        • quincyil says:

I looked at her article and for penance I am going to put money in the Salvation Army collection box tonight.

It is all her opinions and she isn’t a fan of any reality star. Does that mean she is going to be objective when she writes about her weekend following Dina around Chicago?

Jen tells us that she was a skater. I was too. I shoveled the snow off my pond and skated when I was young. I also shoveled the snow of our farm pond for my kids so we all could skate. Neither Jen nor I have Lynn’s giant trophy in our basement next to the computer and cheetoes. Bethenny is an Olympic gold medal winner if she is compared to me. I bet she’s gold compared to Jen Sales too. If Jen was in good enough shape to be twirled in the air over a skater, I think she would have shared.

She likes to ask an opinion, but closes the comment section, but I will open mine. Who would you rather watch skate on ice: Jen or me, a 58 year old grandmother with bummpy ice?

Feel free to answer since Lynn won’t close it down.

      • Debbie says:

The stuff she said about me using drugs and drinking mainly came from twitter. She can’t tweet me cause I blocked her long ago but some guy started saying stuff from her after I asked him to stop saying mean stuff and acting like the twitter police.

      • kbinldo says:

        Quincy—awesome blog!! :)

As for Jen, she’s just jealous that (a) we ain’t sharing our pills & booze, & (b) quite a few of us have taken her up on her dare & are beating her over the head with her “hobby blogger” slam—some of us (Lynn & RCH) better than others (moi).

Help a former hobby blogger out & click on one or 2 of these: http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/938208/kelly_fitzgerald.html

(another shameless plug brought to you by me) ;)

  29. nancy says:

Hello Debbie. Can you tell me how to get to Jen Sales blog? I cannot find it the way I use to be able to. Last time I read her crap was over on RealCityHousewife. Love RCH!!! . Thanks for the info.

      • nancy says:

Thank you, Buffywood. And no, have not eaten yet. LOL

      • Debbie says:

Oh Thank you for posting this horsesh*t so I didn’t have to. She’s the B word. I wouldn’t have seen it because I blocked her on twitter for being rude and an idiot but someone I follow tweeted how wrong she was. I wanted to tell her how I feel about her and her non blogs but didn’t feel like putting the energy into signing up. Now is a good time tp see her “going nuts” at the school video.

      • Debbie says:

She complains about gay slurs from Bethenny fans, yet in the exact same “blog” she calls Dick Button a Queen??

        • icantstandthetoxicity says:

JS is a hypocrite. One minute she claims that she doesn’t like the “twitter wars” and the next minute she admits that she enjoys poking Bethenny’s fans with a stick. She likes to stir the pot and then she accuses other people(Lynn) of being troublemakers. She criticized Lynn for selling keychains but I heard she has been selling T-shirts on Twitter. She’s not playing with a full deck. I don’t think she is going to get much of a reaction to her blog because I don’t think too many people read her blogs.

          • Rabble Rouser says:

            She’s a rather unfortunate idiot.

She posts what can only be booze fueled inane ramblings about “PTA moms” at her kids school being ‘bitches’. I seriously haven’t seen that much drunken slobbering and complaining since David Cassidy was asked to recite the alphabet.

She calls people ‘hobbie bloggers’ while trying to sell herself as some sort of professional; when the same ‘hobbie bloggers’ also achieve the the same formal recognition, they are criticized for being ‘professionally biased’.

She like another claims not to be current on HW issues, yet seems to know what housewifes are being blogged about and by whom.

It’s really pathetic how jealous she is of other women, be it a PTA mom or what she see’s as competition. It’s no wonder why she is largely ignored by Lynn and some of the other bloggers in this circle- Jen isn’t competition- she isn’t even on the radar. I never even heard of her before, has she ever been cited by other news agencies? Does anyone even recognize her other than maybe the guy who runs the local liquor store?

            • Debbie says:

Can you please tell me where the video of her rant is? I need a laugh after the crap she and her new BFF did to waste my time today. Thanks a bunch, Debbie

              • Rabble Rouser says:

Someone here posted it, not sure if it was a youtube original or they copied it, hopefully whoever posted it originally can re-post it. I can’t remember the URL or I would gladly share. It was comedic gold, it also suggested she must lurk her because apparently Jen went on a deleting spree around that time.

            • kbinldo says:

Ooooh, a new toy to play with. I am no longer a “hobby blogger.” I have graduated to “professionally biased.” Yay for me! Where’s my new car? LOL

        • quincyil says:

I looked at some of her posts a while back and she oftern uses slurs. She has a problem with us though.

Some women who have gay male close friends cross the line and use some of the language that gay men use with each other. If a writer wants to be taken seriously, I believe she should provide content, logic, and variety. Lynn is doing that. Every day there seems to be a new blog with tons of information with many sources. We have access to the podcasts and to AC accounts with more information. To me, this seems like a good path for Lynn to follow.

      • Had Enough! says:

Don’t click on her blog! She earns $0.37 for each click! Don’t help make her not rich!

        • Debbie says:

Oh, thank you for the info. I had no idea. When I did read it, there were only a few comments and literally 1/2 of them were her. Thanks again.

      • Blue Sky says:

Don’t go to Jen’s blog, she gets paid (see Had Enough’s comment below) for every click on her blog. I think she is just trying to get more people to go to her site, since she really is not getting as many visitors as Lynn. Why help this bitch – we know we disagree with whatever crap she wrote. Plus, she does not allow people to comment freely.

        • OneMoreInBoston says:

I think she only gets paid if the click come from IL. not anywhere else in the country.

I thought that’s what RCH commented when she became a “professional” blogger.

          • LynnnSoCal says:

You’re accurate. While “the longest blog fight ever” on RCH fascinated, horrified, and entertained me, I will never visit her site again. I feel it would be equal to saying her toxic rants are okay. There’s something sadly amiss with her. IHJZ/Lynn site is intelligent, informative, humorous and most of all friendly. I adore the variety, OT, randomness we all get involved with here. Yay us!

            • Blue Sky says:

I hope you mean you will never go to JSales site (so not “Zen with Jen” ) as I no longer ever go to read her blogs. RCH (Real City Housewife) is a darling, love her blogs, they are hilarious. Have you read about the ghost? Very creepy that it happened to her, but she says she got rid of it, thanks to the many posters (OMIB etc) that gave her advice.

              • LynnnSoCal says:

I was referencing RCH to make my point about UnZen Jenn. I do not support JS/Chicago Now. Thanks for helping me clarify. I’m an ardent fan of RCH!

          • kbinldo says:

AC gives you $ (not much, btw) for every click. I’ve already made more on my Camille Grammer article than the article they actually paid me upfront for.

Just so’s ya know, the more controversial & negative stuff seems to get the most traffic, unfortunately. Slamming Camille = big money; Giving Taylor a break & talking about DV = not so much :(

        • Debbie says:

Holy cow, I just had my first official twitter war with her and a croonie of hers. She is sooooo nasty. The guy ended up calling my “A crazy ass Ho”. So much for them being offended by slurs of any kind. I promise to post as many places I can to stay away from her, her blog and anyone associated with JSales. She actually is crazy. She’s just mad cause Lynn’s a real writer and has real guest writers. I actually felt bad for the guy and tried to tell him that she is using him but he just responded by telling me that JSales said that I was jealous and wanted to watch their fake sex tape. Darn Wackadoos.

        • Blue Sky says:

oops, Had Enough’s comment is upthread…

    • WindyCityWondering says:

Lies and delusional ranting – ironically I could find no place to comment. I simply wanted to ask her what dimension she lives in….or where she got the “special” tv she uses to view these shows.

    • Need a Hobby says:

Used to read her stuff, but then decided it wasn’t clickworthy. (h/t Elaine Benes.)

Consider the source….her history of remarks about her own habits, issues, blah, etc. Not someone to be taken seriously IMO. She tried to scrub the net, but of course couldn’t when 1′s & 0′s can live on in posterity with a mere right click.

Recall the Kiki Kookoopufferensis. It’s not like hypocritical crazy ass shit and serial fabulations, it’s like uh, PR. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

      It’s a rollercoasteramabamadingdong.

  30. Blue Sky says:

Very good review of Skating With the Stars. Be sure to scroll to the bottom for the comments…90 % pro Bethenny. We’re not the only ones disgusted with Johnny Weir.

    http://www.tvsquad.com/2010/12/13/are-the-skating-with-the-stars-judges-too-harsh-on-bethenny-fr/?a_dgi=aolshare_twitter

    • Mimisfbay says:

Thank you for finding this! I have just watched the show on abc.com and was sickened by JW’s comments. Wasn’t a fan of the “Bristol Palin…” comment of Button either. It is amazing to me that Bethenney can actually do so much on ice! What a woman…I have always been a fan and even more now.
One thing…why did she feel the need to say that she doesn’t care what the judges think? Two of them were Olympic skaters and in competitions it is all about the judging. She probably meant that for her it is about the fun but it didn’t quite come off like that, ya know?

      • Debbie says:

That’s how I took it because she even said during the 2nd episode that she was doing it for her fans. Hey, That’s us!!! I got stupid and decided to log into that JSales blog so I could post that good review for her to read. I didn’t realize that she has to approve the comments. Darn it all

      • quincyil says:

I think the judges were mentioning Bethenny’s private life and she was hurt. Bethenny lashes out when she’s in pain, remember.

    • American Idiot says:

This is a great article. Gets right to the heart of the matter, and what’s the matter with JW. From his first comment to Bethenny about how she has alot going on I knew he would be biased. He is there to judge her skating, not her personal life, not her business life. He should recuse himself from judging her. Let the host do it.

I realized I never properly introduced myself. My name is Patty & I live in KY with my hubby Allan & our 4 kitties. I moved here 10 yrs. ago after I lost my 1st hubby to cancer after being together 11 yrs. & my 2nd hubby to a heart attack after 7 yrs. I lived in NYC for around 30yrs. altogether before moving down here to be with my mama. After losing 2 hubby’s I needed some tlc . I have been married to my new hubby Allan after only a month of knowing each other. He is a disabled Vietnam veteran & we both have disabilities. He is also the sweetest & gentlest man I have ever known. I have extremely bad arthritis in my hands. Typing is a lot easier than writing. ;)
My mama is from Nashville, TN & my papa was from Astoria, NYC. So I am an air force brat as well & was born in Anchorage Alaska on Elmandorf AFB. But we moved from there after about a yr. so I don’t remember much. ;)
Will tell more as needed but I just wanted to let you know a little about me.
Thanks for this Blog Lynn & Quincy & I feel very welcome~family.

My right hand has also been damaged so the arthritis makes it hurt even worse over the yrs. Yes for some reason I think it’s because I don’t have to lean my wrist on anything while typing~writing is extremely painful~everything I do~cleaning, cooking, reading etc. involves my right hand. I have started using my left hand as much as I can & now that hand is feeling the pain & getting puffy between my knuckles.

Ayi mami! Go to realitytea.com right now if you want to read about those tapes Camille is threating to release!

So far, no one has come up with anything solid on her alleged service to Prince Jefri of the sultanate of Brunei. Just allegations. And I read comments to another blog with a great deal of detail about her alleged hooking days in NYC. But comments…not really a great source of reliable info.

Oh, dear, that pink dress is just wrong and she needs to pull it up a bit.

Looking at that picture, my mind went to a friend of mine. He used to be a dairy farmer. He talks about womens’, uh, bosoms in terms of his cows. Apparently the musculature can vary (tendons? something connective) and some are connected high up into the shoulder and some are not. He says he can tell at a glance (in both cows and women). He calls them high hung or low hung. Camille appears to be what he’d call low hung. I’m not sure why I’m explaining this, but it always makes me laugh to hear the comparison.

Wow. A lot of comments to plow through! All of them fun, funny and insightful.

I have been interviewing for a job. Amazingly, even in California there are jobs to be had. I have 3 companys very interested in hiring me. The trick to figure out which one is the right fit for me or we will both be miserable.

The employer I most want is very very slow during the hiring process. I meet with them on Thursday and I am praying it won’t be raining so my hair won’t be a mess. I like to straighten my hair for work or it looks like rats nest (according to my mother).
Any tips on how to keep my hair looking good when the weather is foul?

    • Kansas Girl says:

I have no idea, but am wishing you luck with the interview!

    • JazzNightOut says:

No tips that work unfortunately cuz I will never tell someone to wear a plastic hood. But wishing you the best of luck on Thursday. Glad there are jobs for you to choose from cuz I assume they all will want you.

    • Had Enough! says:

I would use a lot of product and then wear a tightly-wrapped scarf until I got into the building. Then smooth it with your hands. Don’t brush it – that will just make it go frizzy/fly-away. Sheesh. I sound like TLD, but she actually knows what she is talking about, whereas I’m just talking outta my kiester. But having decades of experience with bad hair, I do have some experience…

    • Blue Sky says:

Good luck getting the job Ad Girl!

    • Amber...Real Wife says:

Psst, wear a hairpiece. Either a ponytail or a fall (half-wig). It works. I set my hair twice a week, and when the weather is too humid (FL) I cheat and wear either as I have a few different styles of both. BTW your hair will always look ‘fabulous’!

    • TLM says:

I’ve had the same hair all my life & anxieties over it. I like John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease serum, but I recommend not trying to fight the curl on the hot/steamy days; it will just backfire. Just work the serum into it while damp, and let it dry naturally. Don’t brush it. If it’s longer you can gather it into a ponytail or folded ponytail bun.

Thank you all so much for giggles & I love Bethenny as well. I also have both of her books & thinks her new show Bethenny Ever After should be great as well.
I also could not believe the damage that some people “JZ” will do to hurt someone else.
I also was pissed when I found out MM was a friend of Jill’s too. She just gets more horrible with each show. Is it true that this will be the last season of NYC wives?

  42. BaaBee Loves Kitties says:

    AdGirl~
Hi~I have very curly hair that frizzes easily but I use John Freida mouse & non-greasy oil spray when I can get it. Let your hair go natural & it’s so much easier to make it look really beautiful. I spent 20 yrs. blow drying my hair straight every day & now I don’t straighten or color it & it has beautiful gray streaks & is almost down to my low back if ya know what I mean. But it looks so healthy & it also takes so much less time. Now our curls are finally in style. Good luck on your interview ;)

  43. TrueLifeDiva says:

@Had Enough, actually you kinda did just take the words right out of my mouth! I’m catching up on posts and wanted to read everything before commenting. Using a few extra drops of serum before flat ironing, some molding wax on your edges, and secured under a scarf until you get into the building are what I was planning to say. You beat me to it. Oh, and hair swept off the face with no wispies. Bangs that constantly need to be pushed back gives the impression you are untidy and vain. Crisp and clean styles make the best impression.

    • OneMoreInBoston says:

“Bangs that constantly need to be pushed back gives the impression you are untidy and vain.”

      • Adgirl says:

TLD Great advice! And great commentary from our OMiB. You two crack me up! are you sisters??

This interview requires that I be chic and downtown cool (it is for online advertising ya’ know, but for a large corporation with big name clients) meaning understated, put together and absolutely no messy anything, including my computer case, shoes and handbag.
No nail polish or colored lipstick either. I’m only worried about my hair being a mess. It’s wavey and not in the cute way.

        • Had Enough! says:

          Adgirl,

You don’t have time before the interview, but I have to say that a miracle occurred in my life when I got keratin straightening. Every day I look in the mirror, I can’t believe how great my hair looks and how manageable it is. I know there have been stories about the fumes, but I’ve had mine done twice now and there were no fumes. The woman who did it said she doesn’t notice any fumes either. Like I said – I know bad hair. Really bad hair. This was just mind-blowing. My husband keeps touching my hair…so do I…it feels and looks so good.

      • quincyil says:

And this union of one more in Boston and true life diva is the beginning of the taming of the Wild Cyberspace. Yes, after marriage, there will be homes built in cyberspace, then schools, and churches. Order will come from chaos. Civilization will push out the twitter barbarians.

  47. Buffywood says:

I was just driving in my car and this poem below came on the radio. It was tough to see the road through my tears. Please take a minute to read.

T’was the night Before Christmas, he lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone,
I had come down the chimney with presents to give
And to see just who in this home did live,

I looked all about, a strange site did I see,
No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree,
No stockings by the mantle, Just boots filled with sand,
On the wall hung pictures of far distance lands.

With Medals and badges, Awards of all kinds,
A sober thought came through my mind.
For this house was different, it was dark and dreary,
I had found the home of a soldier once I could see clearly
I heard stories about them, I had to see more
So I walked down the hall and pushed open the door.

The solider lay sleeping, silent, alone,
Curled up in this, His one bedroom home.
The face was so gentle, the room in such disorder
Not how I pictured a United States Solider.

Was this the War Hero of whom I’d just read?
Curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed?
His head was clean shaven, his weathered face tan,
I soon understood this was more than a man.
I realized the families that I saw this night
Owed they’re lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight.

Soon round the world the children would play
And grownups celebrate a bright Christmas day.
They enjoyed freedom each month of the year,
Because of these soldiers like the one lying here.

I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone
On a cold Christmas Eve, in a land far from home.
The very thought brought a tear to my eye
Dropped to my knees and started to cry.

The Soldier awakened and I hear a rough voice,
“Santa don’t cry, this is my life my choice:
I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more
My life is my god, my country my Corps.”

The Solider rolled over and soon drifted to sleep
I couldn’t control it I started to weep.
I kept watch for hours. So silent and still
And we both shivered from the cold nights chill.

I took off my jacket, the one made of red,
And I covered this Soldier from his toes to his head.
And I put on his T-shirt of gray and black,
With an eagle and an Army patch embroidered on back.

And although it barely fit me, I began to swell with pride,
And for a shining moment, I was United States Army deep inside.
I didn’t want to leave on that cold dark night,
This guardian of honor, so willing to fight.
Then the Solider rolled over with a voice soft and pure,
Whispered, “Carry on Santa, Christmas Day is Secure”

One look at my watch and I knew he was right
Merry Christmas my friend and to all a good night.

    • OneMoreInBoston says:

      oh man- goosebumps.

Good poem and very timely to remember both our troops and Christmas at the same time.

    • Blue Sky says:

Please God let this war end – and all our troops come home as soon as possible. We should not be in Afghanistan. We have drones (unmanned planes) to drop bombs where needed. We don’t need to lose one more soldier, one more drop of American blood.

      • quincyil says:

Afghan children die too. Wars are not selective even though they try not to cause collateral damage. Pakistan is not an allie of the United States. I have studied this.

        • OneMoreInBoston says:

Agreed- no one but no one wins in any war except the arms maufacturers.

Unarmed civilians that have done nothing worse than pick the wrong country to be born in, including young children, are “collateral damage” which is military code for slaughtered.

        • Blue Sky says:

Yes, too many in Iraq died as well, on both sides. I’m glad that monster Saddam Hussein & his sons got what they deserved. Thank God we are no longer as involved in Iraq. Let’s just see what those people do with their new freedom. Will they waste what our soldiers died for?

We are not making any progress in Afghanistan. The people in charge there are taking the bribe money – billions of dollars – no one knows how much…remember the huge planes used to take something like 100 million in cash to Afghanistan for bribes? All gone…airlifted to Switzerland perhaps? I saw footage of the planes that leave Kabul daily, loaded with cash. How much does it cost to have our brave soldiers in that God forsaken place? Is it worth it – no it is not!

Re: Tabatha’s Salon Takeover – I couldn’t believe that during one of her rants, Alexis said something to the effect that she would go to ‘beauty school’ and would become a stylist to show them. I have a college degree as well, but I will tell you one thing, there is no way that I could get my stylist license. Maybe I wouldn’t be able to get my license because I do not have an MBA from USC??

Doing hair is an art, and I thank my stars when I walk out of my salon after getting my hair colored and cut. One of the owners at my salon does my hair and I have never seen her treat her employees or clients with disrespect. I have been going there for 10 years and there are stylists and spa technicians that are currently there that have been working there before I became a client. The receptionist is the same great gal that I saw during my first visit. Finding a good salon is a tough thing, and I consider myself lucky and think of the ladies there as friends.

In my opinion, Tim should have manned up, and put his wife in her place. I am not being sexist, because if it were the reverse, I would think that Alexis should have womaned up. It doesn’t surprise me that they lost the salon. Their actions brought it upon themselves.

RE: Johnny Weir – Last night, I watched SWS for the first time. I thought I would check it out, because what was being said on this blog about Johnny Weir. As someone who enjoys watching him skate, I was appalled at his behavior. Of all people, he should be the most unbiased. In the past, he has been judged not by his skating, but his pesona. He sould know better and keep his friendship with JZ out of it. I was disappointed. I hope one day he realizes that he was being a hypocrite. One other thing, SWS is a bad show.

Just back from an important spying mission to try and solve a long term question on our board. Realhousewives of New Jersey was on while I was making my husband’s supper. I watched Danielle getting dressed with her girls and I watched Danielle and Christine leave the house with small flat clutch purses that couldn’t hold that book. The camera focuses on Danielle and her clutch purse entering the room. She goes to her chair and pulls it out, but Christine enters with the clutch on a chain on her right shoulder. Christine’s right arm is to her back and she is holding something. She turns so that the camera can’t see what she is holding. You see Christine bend slightly right behind Danielle and the camera comes away to the other women. Then you see Christine on the other side of the table with her hand on her clutch.

Christine brought that book into the room. She did not have it as they were walking to the car at the Staub mansion. Danielle must have had it in the car at that time.

When Daniell picks up the book, she leans to the left and back slightly exactly where Christine bent over when they came in.

Another mystery solved. I am really enjoying these spy missions for the board.

    • OneMoreInBoston says:

      ahhh…so that’s what happened.

I knew that book couldn’t fit in her clutch, and I really didn’t think she’d go and plant it at the resturant ahead of time, so I thought a Bravo producer gave it to her at the resturant in order to stir up the drama.

The fact that Christine brought the book makes sense, because everyone was shocked how Theresa flipped out. NO ONE including Bravo expected that because up to that point she had been portraying herself as the Italian Earth Mother not the thugette from Paterson.

Even though I hear there are signs of life in the economy, CA has huge unemployment rates in parts of the state. That doesn’t mean you should stay put, but it may make more sense to see if you can change up your job a little bit or look for another one before you leave this one.

      What do you do?

      • California35 says:

The company has been under “construction” in a way. I started with the company where there were only about 50 employees, and it has double the size. I am an admin who was doing all kind of things, and still do…but we have additions to my department. So I am not doing everything any more. That is a good thing, no complains there, but there is still lots to do and everyone is constatly busy and projects keep coming up. My problem is not the work load, but it is adding to it. I work long hours and it is still not enough. The new people are also in the same boat. Everyone is trying hard, no one is being lazy. I just feel like it will never end. There is no room for complainers at work, and when the topic of work load or hours, there is always someone that works more and longer hours. Basically, that is the way it is.

Lately, it is not the work load and long hours, but also the stress around me. The way they talk, not very nice some times… but other times they joke around*Big sigh*

I have missed up a few times because I am trying to do things in a hurry, and that is making me look and feel very bad.

It is time for reviews, so I am waiting for that….and I will see.

Sorry I went on and on. It just feels good to let it out. Thank you for asking.

    • quincyil says:

I wish I could give you a big hug. Clear your mind and get rest. Eat healthy foods and walk/exercise. If you can do this, your mind will help you get through all of this. You need a mentor at work too. Look for someone to guide you.

      You can do this.

      • California35 says:

Thank you Quincy that means a lot to me…I will take that hugh. I have been feeling down since Friday. The weekend helped, and the evenings when I get home I try to forget about work to enjoy the evening.
I wish I could find a mentor…in a way reading here has helped me by reading other people’s experiences. I am too old to be an admin and have my limited education. I feel bad about that also, and it probably doesn’t help. I went back to school to take a class last January and it was sooo hard to make it, that I skiped this semester. I never missed the class though, and I got a very good grade, so I should try again.

Since I can’t get a mentor at work, maybe I can get one at school.

        Thanks again.

I would stick with the job for security but network and look for something else. Something that makes you happy and not crazy. Life is just too short.
Job market is picking up. Once you start looking you will feel better. Good Luck!

      • California35 says:

I agree, I have been holding on to it for a while now. I did try to find a job a few months ago, but all the jobs were from and agency. When I called, I was told to stay where I was. It was funny and sad, I got that answer from three diferent agencies. That should not stop me from looking, but it worried me. I have been thinking about how life is too short to spend it at this job. It is very generous with PTO, but very dificult to take time off. That makes me wonder when will I take time to enjoy? I do try to make the best of it on the weekends though.

I will do that now that I shared a bit more. The truth is that I come here to get my mind off this stuff, but I realized that this place is not just for the TV talk, but also sharing about ourselves. I was concern about boring you all or bringing work to the party, but talking about all of this right now it did help.

        • Buffywood says:

Hi California I am sorry to hear you are not happy at work. Here is my suggestion, at least for a start. Think about what companies you would really like to work for. Write a very specific cover letter as to why you would like to work for them and what you feel you could offer, make sure your resume is up to date, and hand deliver each of them a copy. Regardless of if they are hiring right now or not, you will put yourself in front of them and hopefully they will remember you when they are ready to hire.

Mentally, simply writing down the various things you have to offer an employer should re-inforce your positive contributions. It is a step in the right direction.

          • California35 says:

Buffy – that is something I should do. Write things down and keep them in mind. Going yo those businesses is also good, but I’m afraid I won’t get passes the receptionist. I do need to try though.

            • Buffywood says:

Check the companies website to see if they have a page that identifies upper management or call ahead and ask who is responsible for hiring and address the envelope accordingly. Use the large letter size manila envelopes and not a standard one so you don’t have to fold your resume, it keeps it cleaner looking.

        • OneMoreInBoston says:

Some steps that I took in the past when my job felt threatened:

          1) clean up your credit

          2) open as many credit cards as you can- if you lose your job you can’t get them. There were times that was the only way I was able to buy little necessities like tampons.

          3) start putting away a little bit every week for a just in case fund

          4) if you are an admin, are you being paid OT for your extra hours? I know CA is pretty strict with this.

          5) look into reducing your expenses so you have at least 6 months of living saved up in cash- not tied up in an account you can’t touch.

          6) Instead of waiting until review time, can you approach your supervisor ahead of time for a “report card” of what you could improve on?

The agencies seem to basically be telling you they don’t have any work for you, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any work, it means THEY don’t have any.

Smaller companies don’t always use agencies, they don’t want to pay their fees.

Since you do well as a jack of all trades and seem to like that, is there a way that you can research who your present company’s competitors are, and if they have any admin openings?

You will feel better about everything if you feel like you have control over your own destiny.

          • Cusi77 says:

    • TEB says:

Earring Girl- I LOVED this link. Thank you!!

    • quincyil says:

Do you think that Jill tried to get this edited out. It was so destructive to her liason with Kodak on line. I remember the discussion at the time and everyone was in shock that Ramona would do that to Jill. She was either drunk or vindictive because surely she knew the cameras were there and Jill was a spokesperson for Kodak. Remember them bickering and Kelly mimicing Ramona on camera. These women are lunatics.

      • Earring Girl says:

As the article states: ” Where was the PR team who wrangled this mess through the front door to pull the plug and ask the ladies to shut up? Why would you appoint Jill Zarin whose hypocritical, bitter, nasty attitude has done nothing but spew evil for the better part of the season to be a spokesperson for your brand? Who thought that one up?” –

I don’t think the person who wrote this is the typical Housewives blogger – he seems to be more of a PR type of writer/blogger so there is little bias about Jill and the gang as reality stars he is just simply saying no company should put their merchandise in the hands of complete idiots with alcoholic drinks. Jill has not mentioned Kodak since that incident.

Remember during the summer before or after the reunion and Jill was suppose to have all these PR companies advising her? Well I also had this article in my JZ file check out the last paragraph – I don’t think things have takened off like she and this company planned. :) Bethenny seems to be doing well don’t you think? :)

        • OneMoreInBoston says:

wow- the difference between Jill’s PR agency’s blurb and the PR professional’s article is really night and day isn’t it?

          • Earring Girl says:

When I found these articles I think I laughed for days because she was at the height of her “nasty”. I figured the PR company would soon see what they were dealing with and drop her @ss! I would love to see her on HSN and nobody buys that over-priced 80s bed stuff. I thought I read somewhere that those JZ spanks or whatever it is will be out in the spring – she and Kelidiot do not have an original thought in their heads!

  66. The fashion show was fun tonight.
It was funny how, I think it was Isaac, who said something like,(paraphrasing)
“notice who’s not here, Danielle!” then I’m looking at the housewives and 4 out of the
8 women are no longer on their respective shows! Dina? out! (She did look beautiful)
Lauri, Ashley(they must have been desperate) and Lynn are all out of OCHW
So what’s up with that? can’t they get any of the real ones?

    • Cusi77 says:

Dina did look gorgeous! Caroline looked beautiful in the runway… Orange County HW… I did not like what the designers did to them AT ALL!

  68. TLM says:

Watched the Fashion Show tonight, only because the HWs were on. I thought Dina and Caroline have never looked more beautiful — whomever did their hair was excellent. I’ve seen so many dos like the one on Dina that just looked wrong, and extensions that look bad and jacked-up. None of that was going on here. Both sisters looked really elegant. I thought Jac’s dress could have been good if it was constructed better, but I thought the basic shape was good – kind of “Mad Men” styling. Teresa’s dress was awful and Calvin is a psycho. I really expected these two to be screaming at each other, but they weirdly got along. (I actually think Calvin scared the crap out of Teresa).

I thought the OC dresses were a disaster, with the exception of Laurie Waring Peterson, but even that dress was not smooth looking enough for my taste. Charmeuse that’s a light color like that shows every tiny flaw and wrinkles like crazy. I hope the girl who was sent home was the one who did Gretchen’s dress. I could not believe she could do such a bad dress on Gretchen, not to mention messing up the measurements to such a degree. Gretchen has the best body a designer could work with; it was sad to see what happened. And why didn’t she just open the other side seam and add a strip to each side, to make it look intentional, instead of adding that vajayjay thing on the one hip? Lynn’s dress made her back look hideous and breasts shaped oddly. Ashley’s dress somehow managed to add about 60 lbs. to her body, which was quite a feat.

What do we all think of Gretchen saying she’s a designer? I’m sure that’s EXACTLY what a designer wants to hear from a client (NOT)! However, the sketches looked pretty good. I wonder if “Gretchen Christine Couture” will soon be following “Gretchen Christine Beaute.”

Interesting watching Iman and DVF on WWHL. All of a sudden, Iman remembered how to smile, and was nice the same way she was when I saw her on Oprah a few years ago. I do think Iman looks amazing. I just cannot watch her on the Fashion Show.

OMG — Jill and Bawby on Patti Stanger’s show — did anyone see them at Patti’s fake dinner party??? At the very beginning of the episode with Judith Regan.

    • Cusi77 says:

      Great recap TLM!

    • LynnNChicago says:

I didn’t think I’d like WWHL with Iman and DVF but I actually did enjoy it, Iman was so much more relaxed and …well human than she usually is on The Fashion Show.

Cohen’s questions were good and their answers were entertaining, the show was much better than I thought it would be. My favorite part was DVF calling Andy’s set (Clubhouse) an escort service, then right afterward Andy said it was all decorated with DVF’s new home line. lmao

I live in a very small town, not all that far from where Jason’s parents live. Not that I would ever go there to just search them out, I’m not a crazy stalker I swear! But our liquor store is not huge like in the big cities I’ve lived in and doesn’t always carry anything that would be considered not main stream. After Christmas I’m buying a bottle or three! Happy birthday to the Bill of Rights (ratified this day in 1791).

If we had to have the Bill of Rights debated in today’s Congress, well, it would never happen. There may be a few people up there who actually put the well-being of this country and its people ahead of their political interests and ideology, and who can behave as rational adults, but you would have to be like Diogenes to find them amongst the hundreds of self-serving, undereducated, ill-mannered jerks we’ve managed to elect.

    • Blue Sky says:

Thankfully the U.S. eventually got it right and included all races, both sexes, and tolerance for religion….but the founding fathers were way ahead of their time, compared to other countries in the late 1700′s.

We still have one problem – the electoral college. When we vote for president, our votes are not counted directly. Is that fair, that a candidate can win the popular vote but lose the election? Nope.

      • Blue Sky says:

Forgot to mention something, as my Mom would point out, then the states with small populations would have to go along with whatever CA, NY, NJ, TX etc decide which candidate will become president. The electoral college makes it crucial for a candidate to carry enough states with those small populations, so they can win…even without winning the popular vote. As they say, the devil is in the details.

Reminds me of a scene from 1776, where they’re debating the wording of the Declaration of Independence. “we can’t say that, because we’ll offend the businessmen!” “we can’t say that because we’ll offend the Parliament!” “we can’t say that because we’ll offend the clergy.” & so on until John Adams stands up & says “This is a revolution, dammit. We have to offend SOMEBODY!” What many people forget is that the Bill of Rights is there to protect the powerless from the powerful, the minority from the majority.

No overtime pay for her either & she works in the offices of a hospital in Louisville. I try to volunteer at least once a week at the VFW club & help out in any way & can whether it is cleaning, cooking or serving. My arthritis makes it impossible to work & my hubby’s situation of being disabled veteran has told me from the beginning that I cannot even work part time or they will take it out of his disability check. 79. Had Enough! says:

Oh bloody hell. Here we go with the KellIdiot nonsense again. Her joory line – a bunch of crafts projects – were inspired by both the Mad Men era AND “the beatniks of the sixties.” Another KellIdiot-WTF-those-two-things-are-total-contradictions-you-moron. First have you ever SEEN the show Mad Men? No one on that show would ever wear anything like this. Now, the beatniks, maybe. But if ever there were two groups that had nothing in common, it was the slick, corporate, materialistic and ultra-conformist advertising world of the 60s and the sloppy, drop-out, anti-materialistic, ultra non-conformist world of the beats. In those days, advertising was Darren Stephens and Larry Tate, not the agencies of today, led by creative departments.

But it gets worse. Now she says she is juxtaposing sophisticated (crafts are NOT sophisticated) with the rocker look. Ummm…the beats (beatnik was a term coined by a newspaper report; Kerouac and Ginsberg derided it; beatnick was the shallow, pop culture stereotype created by … advertising agencies) were not rockers. They were highly cerebral and artistic and would have been disgusted by a shallow nothing like you.

It’s just all word soup … open orifice, string some loosely relevant words together, and hope no one points out that it makes no sense whatsoever and that you actually know nothing about the eras and styles you are talking about.

Now this will come as no surprise. She goes on to say “I admire the allure of Raquel Welch in the Sixties. I admire her respect for her curves, and her easy chic way of wearing clothes. I believe the woman makes the clothes come alive. I don’t think clothes should be worn just to look ‘good.’

Well, we’ve all seen the 10,000 BC photo of KellIdiot (which by the way, ran in Marie Claire in a piece on worst Halloween costumes, with the caption “How old are you, Kelly Bensimon? You’re certainly in shape, but is your costume for Halloween or a jungle frat party?” (Be careful….this is scary!)

So we know that Raquel Welch is on the list of celebrities she imitates, but boy has she failed to imitate the stylish Raquel Welch in her everyday attire. She chooses clothing that is unattractive, not suited to her body, inappropriate for her age, ill-fitting, and anything but chic. She doesn’t make the clothes come alive. In fact, she and her clothes are in a fight to the bloody, painful death.

Remember what I said yesterday, about some of these women just being unlikeable? Well, I give you Exhibit 1. Kelly Killoren Bensimon. Case closed.

    • Blue Sky says:

Had Enough, you hit this one out of the ballpark. Now if Kelly were really really smart (we know she’s not, but one can dream!) she would see how she is screwing up & hire you to tell her 1) why it’s not working for her; 2)what you would suggest (hmmm, we know you want her to just go away! But let’s pretend it is possible to improve her – just for one cyber second!); 3) See the results of your improving Kelly everywhere, to the relief of millions.

Okay, Okay, dream over – zzzap back to reality!

I just wanted to say that while I could not work full time & I am positive I could still work a part time job with my arthritis in my hands so bad. Veteran rule is once they add you to check & only 240.00 a month extra they think that is all that I need to survive. I also have no medical coverage with veterans. It just doesn’t make sense to us.

    • Blue Sky says:

BaaBee, are you saying that you don’t have health care, because your husband’s health care doesn’t cover you, or that both of you do not have health care? That is so sad, more reason than ever that we need to cover all U.S. citizens with basic health care. If you live near a university town, with a medical college, you may be able to get free health care there. In many university towns, free health clinics are run by volunteers, or you can get treated by the medical college for free. Same with dental schools, they can be a great place to get low cost dental care. I hope you have access to health care, and please thank your husband for serving our country. If you have questions, this board is a great place to ask for help.

      • BaaBee Loves Kitties says:

My husband is covered completely & I do use health clinic here for pap & breast exam because I had breast cancer in 96 & had a lumpectomy & radiation treatments for 8 weeks. I have to use a family doctor for my arthritis & hot flashes etc. This comes out of our pockets & 1 visit is 85 dollars!
I agree with you completely~thank you Blue Sky~

        • Blue Sky says:

Sending you hugs (((BaaBee))) take good care of yourself & hubby! There used to be doctors that would help patients out, not charge them etc. Do research on arthritis, many people in my family suffer with it. Massages, warm therapy, and keep moving, as much as you can. Meditation helped my Grandmother, she was doing it back in the 1970′s! She had very bad arthritis in her fingers, but kept playing the organ/piano everyday.

Wow Lynn. I just read the portrait of Nene Leakes. Now I am not a fan of Atlanta at all. I was turned off from day 1 by the disgusting Kim Zolciak and I thought of Nene as a horrifying stereotype of Southern black women (she does as much damage to Southern Black women as Jill Zarin does to New York Jewish women and Teresa Giudice does to Italian-American women). In the fleeting seconds before I would change the channel, I would think “this is Flip Wilson doing Geraldine.” Turned my stomach.

But your thoughtful portrait has me re-thinking the whole thing. I didn’t expect that to happen. I thought I’d just disagree with you.

That’s why I read and love this blog. Everyone has an honest and interesting perspective and it helps me to keep an open mind and learn a new way of looking at things.

Yeah, Jimbo ranted on his blog that “they” are not broke or bankrupt. In the technical sense, that’s true. The bankruptcy filing is not in the name of Sleezy Jim and Jugs for Jesus Bellino. It is in the name of Global Marine, which is apparently the legal entity that holds the title to the house and is on the hook to the bank.

Bringing over from a few days back:

      Here’s the petition: https://ecf.cacb.uscourts.gov/doc1/973141646250.

It is a Ch. 11 (reorganization) for a company called Global Marine, Inc.

The schedules, including the list of assets and the list of debts, is due w/in 14 days of the filing date. At this point, there is only one creditor listed:

      CHASE
      9200 OAKDALE AVE
      CHATSWORTH CA 91311

and it is apparently a secured creditor, because the filing says that there are no unsecured creditors.

And per this article, the mortgage is held by….CHASE.

      http://pedrowatcher.ocregister.com/2010/08/27/housewife-defaults-on-4-6-million-home-loan/25901/

AND it took some doing, but matching the details and photos from the sainted Mama (realestalker) with the Redfin listings, I believe it is 2672 Circle Drive, Newport Beach. You can check it out on Redfin and see if you recognize any of the interiors from the show. The stair case looks right, but I really don’t remember much about that house. The assessed value matches the assessed value on the tax bill. Not just the total but also land and improvements. So I’m pretty sure this is the right house.

ETA: The notice filed regarding the meeting of the creditors shows an address of 2672 Circle Drive. So it is the right property.

      • Blue Sky says:

Just one question, how does his company “Marine Global” hold the mortgage to his house? If this is his primary residence, & even if it’s not, this is so wrong to me. I hope the IRS takes a look at his tax filings. Bear with me, this would mean that he wrote off his entire mortgage payment, property taxes, house maintenance, probably even the two nannies, as BUSINESS EXPENSES? Folks, that would lower his tax bill, by a huge amount! Not to mention depreciation, etc. So here’s a real sharp tax evader, IMO. Oh yeah, & Chase Bank is not so innocent either. They gave him the mortgage…and that had to be done with the business as the mortgagee, folks. Plus Chase even worked with this jerk, lowering the principal amount owed… Am I missing something here – this is legit?

        • Had Enough! says:

Not exactly. He would not be able to deduct corporate expenses from his personal income taxes. So the mortgage interest and property taxes that a homeowner deducts on the tax return, he couldn’t do that. He would have to file a separate return for the corporation, and take the (legitimate) deductions there. Otherwise, you can deduct only that portion of a personal residence that you use primarily for business, i.e., a home office. If he was doing both – deducting a portion of the home on his personal taxes and then also deducting the expenses on his business return, let’s hope the IRS nails him.

I don’t think he could legitimately take depreciation. That’s for an income property, not a property used as the principal residence.

          • Blue Sky says:

Let’s hope the IRS takes a look. It looks to me like he was living in that house – and if this is the one they shot in for RHOC that’s proof enough. He has a very shady business background, as mentioned here & on other boards, he got caught selling fake autographed sports memorabilia.

Oh now this is curious. The California corporation known as Global Marine Inc (there are several but I believe this is the right one because the attorney is the same one as the attorney on the bankruptcy filing) only came into existence on September 21, 2009.

Now, the Bellinos bought that house in August 2007. You can’t just transfer title from yourself to another person or corporation when you have the mortgage. The bank has to agree to release you from the mortgage. That’s why mortgages are recorded in public records – so that buyers and lienholders can know if there is a sale or attempted transfer of title. The bank obviously does not want to let you off the hook unless it is going to be paid in full (or whatever they have agreed to in a short sale).

So the current mortgage must have been issued much more recently – approximately Sept/Oct 2009. WTF? Why would any bank make a mortgage like that in 2009, AFTER the real estate crash? Bank gets what it deserves.

    • WindyCityWondering says:

Maybe they sold the mortgage/property to the corporation?

      • Had Enough! says:

No – the bank holds the mortgage. If they sold it, it would not be to the person or corporation who owes the money. In other words, to sell it to Global Marine, they (the bank) would want to be paid off by Global Marine, and then Global Marine would be the mortgage holder. Jim Bellino would then make the payments to Global Marine, the corporation he owns. Chase would be out of the picture and there would be no discussions with Chase about restructuring and no foreclosure action by Chase. They would have gone away as soon as they were paid.

The Bellinos could not sell the property to ANYONE without the bank knowing about it and getting paid off. So yes, the Bellinos could have “sold” the property to Global Marine, but that triggers notice to the lienholder (Chase) who of course has to get paid at the time the property is sold, or it won’t release its lien, and Global Marine couldn’t take clear title. Meaning Global Marine couldn’t sell the property to someone else.

So obviously, title was transferred, and the bank had to either (a) accept Global Marine along with the Bellinos or (b) get paid off for the Bellino’s mortgage and give a new loan, secured by a new mortgage, to Global Marine.

Which again, in 2009, makes NO sense. By then, the market had collapsed and the property had lost a big chunk of its value, and why on earth would they have given a new loan for so much more than the value of the property, to a corporation that otherwise had no assets that could be reached in case of default?

        • HD says:

Can someone tell me what Jim does for a living. What is Global Marine?

          • Had Enough! says:

Global Marine appears to be a shell corporation set up specifically to hold title to the residence. It seems to have no other assets or activities.

Jimbo has had a number of restaurants (failed, though most eventually do, so…), was charged with trafficking in phony sports memorabilia, owns or has an interest in a boutique hotel in Newport.

“A James Carlos Bellino, who owned a business called Forensic Document Services, located at 1115 N. Tustin Ave., Orange, CA, was indicted by the Feds in 2000 (3:00-cr-03071-JM: USA v. Bellino) for conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

The accusations involved sales to federal agents of forged sports memorabilia, specifically, baseballs with forged Babe Ruth signatures. The government subsequently deferred prosecution. a short hand way of letting Bellino off without jail time if he paid restitution of almost $30,000, went on probation for a year, and got out of the sports memorabilia business.”

And he owns or owned a pawn shop.

            Bottom-dwelling scum sucker.

        • Buffywood says:

Could this have been the loan modification when they came close to losing the house last year?

          • Had Enough! says:

Could have been, but unlikely. A mod involves lowering the payments and sometimes the overall balance, but why would the bank ALSO let two people off the hook AND accept the risk of a new, no-asset corporation? Banks aren’t THAT stupid.

            • Buffywood says:

Until you posted it had no assets, I thought this may have been the banks was of of at least having some type of asset(s) for colleratal.

        • AZ Girl says:

Jim and Alexis could be shareholders in Global Marine and Quit Claim their interest to the corporation?
