I Hate Jill Zarin RHONY Lost Footage June 25, 2010
No surprises here, these were bits and pieces of the show that were in no particular order, in fact, it didn’t really matter what order they were in. It is clear to me why these scenes were cut out of the original show and it is a little offensive that Bravo decided that they were good enough to put together into a show that we had to sit through for an hour.
The majority of these scenes were on Bravotv.com as “bonus scenes” throughout the season.
The scene showing Bethenny, Alex and Ramona shopping with their significant others was one I hadn’t seen before and underscores what we’ve all been saying about the show all season, THIS is what we want to see, the ladies laughing and enjoying one another! When I find myself smiling or laughing along with the housewives, rather than being so damn frustrated I want to throw the remote right through the screen, then I know it’s what I want to see! I do get why they cut that scene, wherever they were it was extremely annoying as there was constant flashing going off in their faces that they had to try to ignore. Clearly it was either open to the public or there was a lot of press there, the flashes were distracting.
Ramona’s birthday party was on Bravo’s web site in the past and I remember that there was actually a bit showing Ramona choosing pieces of jewelry from her collection for each of her guests, she put them in the goody bags in front of each person’s place setting. She made an effort to choose pieces that she thought each guest would like and that was one of the reasons she was upset about Kelly and Jill trying to change the seating.
Bravo made it seem as though Ramona was just being unreasonable. Jill seemed to let it go but Kelly argued beyond what a normal person would do. When they asked Ramona if she minded that they change seats, her response of “yes, I do mind” should have been enough to end the conversation. Kelly needs her crutch, she cannot function in proper social situations and needed to be next to Jill in order to be comfortable. Jill, as a hostess herself, and knowing Ramona as she does, shouldn’t have even asked in the first place! One thing I did notice was the only missing housewife was Bethenny, Ramona announced that everyone she invited, came to the party.
Seeing Kelly as a hostess, again, already viewed on Bravo’s site, didn’t surprise me at all. To serve jelly beans with wine along with the typical snacks was normal to Kelly. Not to defend Kelly at all, but I can see that Luann would make people uncomfortable in their own home. She is the most passive aggressive person I have ever seen! The mother comment was surprising, but since that is the first time Kelly’s ever mentioned her, and we’ve never seen the woman, we really can’t speculate but it is interesting to get a glimpse of Kelly’s opinion of her mother. If she’s anything like Luann, it explains a lot. Sonja and Luann, two single ladies talking about men and dating completely confused Kelly. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Kelly will never have a serious man in her life, ever again! Typical to see Kelly in the faded, bleached and torn jeans….augh!
The Peta ad reveal was fun to watch, I hadn’t seen that before. It was great that some of the ladies showed up to support Bethenny. Alex, Simon, Jennifer Gilbert and Sonja Morgan were there in support of Bethenny. I remember an interview that Bethenny did about this campaign, she said that all of the women on RHONY wear fur and I don’t think that they ALL do anymore, so it has made a difference, however small it may be. Obviously we know that Kelly continues to wear fur, but she doesn’t harm any animals, she has the world’s only LIVE fur coat.
I always wonder if the women come just to be on camera more or if they truly are being supportive. For example, when Kelly showed at Bethenny’s Skinnygirl Margarita party, it certainly seemed as though she didn’t really want to be there but maybe just felt she wasn’t on camera enough. Kelly didn’t have a story line this season to speak of, so she had to make one for herself. I have noticed that there weren’t too many things that she missed out on attending! The Virgin Island trip, however, she was forced to go!
I did not want to see Ramona having a gross medical procedure done on her arm pits….yuk! Enough said!
Kelly visiting Sonja felt to me like another one of those forced scenes in order to get these two ladies on screen. Kelly telling Sonja to talk to her daughter and tell her “Mommy is too lazy to exercise so mommy had liposuction” is just ridiculous! Great advice Kelly, let’s think of some things that Kelly should tell HER kids: “Mommy turns people down to volume #2 because I can’t stand the white noise”. “Mommy doesn’t understand when you tell me that I work hard for you due to the fact that drugs have fried my brain”. “It is ok for Mommy to interrupt people when they’re talking because I have satchels of gold”. “Mommy is allowed to tell people to ‘zip it’ because it hurts my brain when I have to try to understand adult conversations”. “Mommy served you jelly beans for dinner because I can’t cook, would you rather have burnt pancakes?” “Go ask the nanny!” “I would never leave you to go to St. John again unless Andy Cohen forces me to” “Kids, don’t be healthy, be healthful” Ok, basically what I’m saying is that entire visit from Kelly to Sonja was very strange!
I think if there is one positive, kind thing that I can say about Jill Zarin, it would be that she loves and cares about her daughter. However, her explanation that she purposely made a spectacle of herself while Ally was trying to study could be true, I get that Bravo isn’t going to film or air Jill making dinner quietly in the kitchen while Ally studied with a tutor. That is not to say that Jill is the perfect mother, we all watched as she threw her kid to the wolves and blamed Ally for Baby-gate. I can see why it was cut from the show.
Kelly working out with Ramona was actually interesting. We don’t hear Kelly talking about her ex-husband that often. This was the first time I can remember her ever talking about her wedding, in fact, has anyone seen any wedding photos of Kelly and Gilles? Curious, anyway, her talking about Eric Ripert being the chef at her wedding was curious as now both Kelly and Eric are on Bravo shows. Kelly now has sensitive taste buds…ok Kelly! It’s funny how Kelly was finally happy being with someone on St. John, calling Ramona “real” as they hung out. Did Kelly notice that she did all the talking and Ramona said nothing? I guess that is the only way to get along with Kelly, shut up and let her ramble..
So the one clip that everyone is talking about, the one that Jill seems to think is “funny”. I don’t find it funny at all, I think it is completely disrespectful to Bobby Zarin for his wife to say, “If I’m feeling some jewelry you may be feeling something good later on”. It is not only disrespectful, but really disgusting! The way that this woman treats her husband is really horrible! Is this another ridiculous attempt to throw out funny one liners like Bethenny? If I thought for one moment that it didn’t ring true, I would give her the benefit of the doubt, but Jill Zarin clearly wants jewelry, money, clothes, vehicles, handbags, everything she can get her hands on and couldn’t care less about how hard her husband works to get the money to buy her all this stuff! She is an ungrateful ogre! Season two Kelly admired the rock on Jill’s hand which had to be 6-7 carats at least. Jill then mentioned that this was the “baby” ring and the “mama” ring was in the vault…..augh! The woman makes me sick!
Love the purple gown’s that Alex wore in the fashion show. I thought Ramona was being a sanctimonious beotch the way that she acted like she was doing Alex a favor by staying for the fashion show that she had already agreed to attend. WTF Ramona? Then to sit and criticize Alex, the way she walked, her nervous walk and her frightened face. I wanted to smack Ramona and play her own walk for her over and over and make her apologize to Alex as well.
It was disappointing that they cut off the reunion part where they discussed the speakerphone call between Jill and Bethenny. The started to discuss it and went over what should have happened when Jill called Ramona and allowed Luann to listen in. I’m sure that they discussed the phone call we all wanted to hear about, but Bravo chose to cut that out.
Jill got slammed throughout the reunion episodes, as far as I’m concerned, she deserved every bit of it, but that is one thing that I really wanted to hear her try to defend. The way she rolled her eyes at everything Bethenny said and Luann trying to get Jill to lie to Bethenny about being alone was reprehensible and viewers should have been allowed to hear the ladies discuss that.
Probably the best part of the lost footage episode was seeing dopey Kelly get hit in the head with a tennis ball! Maybe paying attention on the tennis court isn’t such a bad idea?
Here are some Tweets from Jennifer Gilbert during the lost footage episode:
I’m surious to see the lost footage on the RHofNYC. Considering I had so much lost footage, I wonder if I’m in anyof it!!!
Girls, love you, but moving place cards is sooo anoying! As a party planner, I kill those people!
Bethennys butt did look amazing in times sq.. They would never want my butt up there. Rock on bethenny!
What a jumbled blog, so many different things going on at all different times in the series. I think we’re finally, completely DONE with The Real Housewives of New York Season Three. It was a long, long season and we’ll probably continue to discuss what these women are doing on camera and off for a long time to come.
In the meantime, Bethenny’s Getting Married? will be fun dissect, and Top Chef, Work Of Art, hopefully New Jersey will improve, we have plenty of other shows to discuss!
Bravo announced that The Real Housewives of DC will premier August 5 and have released a few short preview videos and bio’s of the ladies: http://www.bravotv.com/the-real-housewives-of-dc
Until Next Time…..
