I Hate Jill Zarin                   Rachel Zoe / Flipping Out / Housewife News     August 25, 2010

Bravo aired two new original episodes of their show’s Flipping Out and The Rachel Zoe Project, we have a guest blogger to break down Rachel Zoe’s latest antics, let me just say that the one week of “Taylor Free” zone has come to an abrupt end and Brad’s bitchy comments completely contradict what he said about Taylor when she was working alongside him last season, maybe Brad was told to bring the drama or go home, right Jill Zarin?

I’m here to talk about Jeff Lewis and company, last night opened with the continuing drama of his remodel of the restaurant Casa Vega, a Mexican restaurant that appears as though it hasn’t been remodeled since the 1970’s.  Last week we left off with a nervous Jeff Lewis heading to a meeting with the restaurant’s owner worried about getting fired for not giving this project enough attention.  In actuality, the owner’s daughter was discussing with Jeff her personal issues of juggling work and family.  Her father is concerned that she’s not giving either job enough attention and focus.  It wasn’t clear what she wanted Jeff to do about that but Jeff acts as therapist and listens with all the right ah huh’s in all the right places.

Much of the episode focused on Jeff’s employee, Trace.  Jeff is grooming this young man to take on the role of top dog once he’s finished school.  Unfortunately for Jenny, who has been with Jeff for over 10 years, it looks like she’s being passed over for this young fresh blood.  Jeff is expecting things 22 year old to make this job with Jeff Lewis his top priority and focus of his life, yet doesn’t explain to Trace his vision for him in the future.  Trace doesn’t seem to be aware that Jeff has such high hopes for him within Jeff Lewis Enterprises and it isn’t clear to viewers whether or not Trace is interested in a lifetime relationship with Lewis.

Also featured in this episode is a kitchen remodel that Jeff is working on for a flamboyant lady named Barb out in Thousand Oaks.  I really enjoyed watching Jeff interact with Barb, his facial expressions and comments were hysterical.  He really seems to like this woman, and it’s nice to see a more human side of Jeff as he works with clients.

Jeff’s OCD concern this week is wild animals, particularly coyotes invading his property and possibly harming his pets.  Jeff decides that urine spread around the property will keep away these animals so he decides all of the men in the house will urinate into buckets so that he can spread it around the property.  I love how Zoila threatens to call the police on him, she is hysterical!

The show really has changed this season from flipping houses to remodels and refurbishing homes for clients.  It doesn’t seem to matter, while the name of the show no longer fits the action on the show, Jeff is just the same and I think if they weren’t filming a television show, Jeff would find himself in court being charged with harassment or for breaking employment laws.  He certainly pushes the boundaries.

In other housewives news, as we know, the Real Housewives of Orange County are in the middle of filming their next season, all cast remains the same except we’ve lost Lynne Curtain (no real loss) and we may have gotten Jeanna Keough back.  The Orange County ladies seem to much prefer Facebook to Twitter but have set it up to forward their Facebook updates directly onto Twitter, here are Vicki’s latest posts:

Vicki Gunvalson Realized that i left an entire drawer full of clothes in Cabo. Geez …not good! Today is going to be a LONG day! Someone make me my coffee and let’s go!

Tonight filming with Tamra in Newport. No drama thank God http://fb.me/ygo71kl4

Tonight filming with Tamra at a beauty night I’m Newport. No drama which was awesome! http://fb.me/yheR76oc

Just another manic monday!

Kelly is still non-stop tweeting, I don’t know how that woman gets anything done at all, she does nothing but Tweet all day, she responds mostly to snark but will occasionally retweet some compliments, the few that she gets.

Kelly’s tweets:

@Kikilet:  @KhloeKardashian my girls adore you. they love your honesty, that you are outspoken, and REAL. enjoy Greece

Kelly tweets to the Kardashian’s a lot, they never acknowledge her at all!  Here is a response to Kelly’s Tweet:

So is @Bethenny !

@Kikilet:  “mentally unstable” lol. ‘methhead, unstable, crazy,’ you guys are hilarious. spell the name right: kelly killoren bensimon.

@Kikilet:  AllyZarin I want to see u before u leave. Friday, TopShop shoparama/starbucks, u and me. Deal?

@Kikilet:  I like facts. Let people speculate, judge, and hate. Just spell the name right, and enjoy my product I sell.

@Kikilet:  Write a handwritten note to someone who did somehing u like. HANDWRITTEN. #kind

@Kikilet:  People will wantu, loveu, hateu, rateu and try to breaku, but that’s what’s makesu. #bereal/staystrong

Kelly hasn’t changed her stand on PR101 and is fine with people talking about her no matter what they’re saying, as long as they spell her name correctly.

Ally did respond to Kelly, looks like they have a date for Friday, Ally also seemed to be the official photographer for her mother’s book signing and tweeted these posts:

@AllyZarin  The crowd! @jillzarin biggest yet!! http://yfrog.com/fvq6wj

@AllyZarin @jillzarin signing away http://yfrog.com/ev87ymj

@AllyZarin  @jillzarin still going! Big book signing http://yfrog.com/n8kvgj

While the crowd may look large to Ally, I would generously say there were maybe 100 people in attendance, probably less.  There were a lot more people at Alex and Simon’s signing here in Chicago.  If that was Jill’s largest crowd yet, I get why the book isn’t selling well.  Maybe it is time for Jill to cut her losses and dump the attempts to sell this trashy book!

Guest Blog – The Rachel Zoe Project       By @Maite1964

I would like to start by thanking Lynn for this opportunity, as I told her, I am a bit of a fashion freak and I enjoy watching the show but this is my first time blogging about a show. After a long day at work and a hundred chores at home, what is more relaxing that watching beautiful clothes and shoes J.!!! Well that and a nice massage LOL

This week Rachel Zoe Project was all about the NY Fashion Week, which by definition it’s lots of running around. Like every season, it’s also Rachel’s wedding anniversary, and like every season, Rodger complains about not been able to spend enough time with his wife to celebrate. Sniff sniff sniff

Rachel initiates the show talking about how much she likes to dress her clients in WHITE for the red carpet and how WHITE is so elegant and a great contrast with the red of the carpet.

Brad talks about Taylor (aaagain) and how she went out of her way to make him look stupid and incompetent and that how this is his opportunity to show how focus he is on his work.

The first show they go to is Oscar de la Renta’s at Bryant Park. Oscar himself greets the trio back stage. He talks about his new collection and the difficulties of editing a show when you have so much to show. Rachael who seems to have a very close relation with Oscar de la Renta is mesmerized with the collection … but what is not to love about Oscar’s clothes, the man understands women of all ages, he designs for every type of body and everything he makes is timeless!.

At the show, somebody didn’t show up and Rachel took the opportunity to seat Brad on first row. While at the show, Rachel keeps searching for red carpet gowns for her client, she sees this beautiful taupe and silver chiffon gown that she feels is totally appropriate for Carmen Diaz. And apparently she was right, Cameron Diaz end up wearing this dress at the Oscars 2010. Good eye Rachel!!!

The next show is Michael Kors, who chosed to present his show in a different location. Rachel, Brad and Rodger rush to the show but get stuck in traffic and fail to make it on time. Rachel has a front row seat assigned but due to her delay can only watch part of the show standing in last row. Rachel is mortified since the PR had the courtesy to reserve a front row seat for her and for all it counts she is a no-show. For those not very familiar with fashion shows, they are by invitation only and it becomes somewhat of a big deal to have a front seat row. Is like the who’s who’s of the moment. Not attending once you RSVP is as per Rachel’s own words NOT GOOD. Also Rachel is upset because she can barely see the show from where she is standing.  She has tons of taller people (mostly everybodyJ) in front of her and can’t have a complete view of the models.

Brad continues to talk about how great he is at this work and how Taylor used to make him look stupid blah blah blah. In a way I understand him she was incredibly mean to him and he is still hurt by it, but enough is enough buddy, we get it! Turn the page!!!

Rachel meets with shoe designer Bryan Atwood to discuss the concept of the Rachel’s shoe collection soon to be launch on QVC. They talk about 6 inch heel boots with chains in the back. Totally uncomfortable but absolutely fabulousJ.

Rodger decides he wants to buy lingerie for Rachael as an anniversary present and decides to take his sister in-law Pamela alone for the ride. The salesgirl brings out an “intimacy kit” that has a multi-speed vibrator … Pamela and Rodger can’t stop laughing because at this point they are both incredibly uncomfortable with one another. What was he thinking???

Pamela mentions that she wants them to have a baby, and Rodger, replies that he is more in love with his wife now than when they got married … awwwww.

Meanwhile, while Rachel is in meetings Brad is attending Derek Lam’s show. The collection has this beautiful white long gown that Brad thinks will look great on Cameron Diaz. He calls Rachel to let her know the big news. He is so proud of himself.

Brad also says that having him in control is going to be a really really good thing for Rachel. Oh well nobody said that people in fashion are famous for their small egos J.

Rachel prepares for her QVC fashion show. She is doing fittings and talks about her passion for styling and challenging herself and how designing is the next big step in her carrier. Like her or not, you have to give the girl props for her goal oriented mind.

While the show is taking place Brad and Rodger watch the show on a TV set in another room of QVC.  Rodger talks about how proud he is of his wife and that when he first met her he thought she didn’t even had a career. Awwwwww

It’s the morning of their anniversary. Rachel says she bought two present one from her to Rodger and the other from Rodger to her in case he didn’t have time to buy it.

She gives him a ring and bought for herself some gold handcuffs. He gives her a black negligee and the thong that goes with it. Rachel seems totally embarrassed mostly, I think, because the cameras where there, he keeps staring at Rodger until he finally got the message.

The second present from Rodger is a custom designed Barbie a lo Rachel Zoe. She loves it … and says that Rodger never disappoints her … again there is no scarcity of big egos in the fashion industryJ.

Next show: Donna Karen. There she meets with Brook Shields, Susan Sarandon and Demi Moore who is her long time customer and friend. Demi congratulates both Rachel and Rodger for their anniversary fueling Rodger to continue nagging about how his anniversary is always on fashion week blah blah blah. Man up Rodger!!!

Rachel comments that Donna Karen’s collection is not Oscar worthy but more for premiers and other type of events. Her collection is mostly black and grey which are Demi’s favorite colors, but this year she will dress her in vibrant colors. In reality Demi did not use black or gray to attend the Oscars this year instead she went with a beautiful Atelier Versace pale pink gown.

Before going back to Florida, Pamela has a sister-to-sister talk with Rachel, telling her it’s time to have a baby. Rachel talks about the pressure she is feeling in that regard and how she fears that if she becomes a mom her career will go out of the window, she adds that if she has a baby she will want to give him 100% of her time. I get it, I think every career oriented woman had that pressure at some time in her life and knows how hard it is to make a decision, especially when you are a one woman show like Rachel.

While at the Calvin Klein backstage, Rachel falls in love with a beautiful odd looking WHITE coat. Francisco Costa, the designer for the firm, comes to hug and greet Rachel, and she clarifies that she is not taking it home!

During Fashion Week’s third day Rachel is getting ready for the Marc Jacobs show. She knows that Rodger rather go to dinner but she has to go to Marc’s show regardless. She explains to Rodger that Marc is family therefore no harm. She describes the show and how Marc Jacobs always manages to surprise with his shows and that he is a trend setter.

Finally after the show Rachel and Rodger drive to a restaurant for an intimate to celebrate their anniversary. No cameras allowed J.

Rodger adds that a lot of people tell  to him that they look like a new couple to which he adds that he thinks it’s true because he is so in love with her…. Awwwww.

Next morning the fashion crew arrives to Rachel’s hotel suite and Brad gives Rachel the bad news: there will be NO WHITE gowns allowed at the Oscars since the scenario has a white background and the organizers are asking the ladies NOT TO WEAR WHITE… OMG IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT … Rachel is crushed and Brad says his big momento is destroyed!!! But I have to say, as dumb as it is,  it’s a bit understandable, it’s like spending weeks thinking about a dress you want to buy for a wedding and not finding your size at the very last minute, of course you won’t think your big memento is destroyed you will just go to plan B and go on…but what is fashion without drama? LOL.

Rachel complains that this horrible situation knocks of half of her Oscar picks … I believe that is like 3 dresses LOL.

Marchesa is the last show of the trip. They have live mannequins and as usual the dresses are gorgeous. Brad and Rachel fall in love with a silver gown that NEEDS to be at the Oscars. She thinks Cameron or Demi. In reality that dress was Sandra Bullock’s Oscar pick which she later declared was picked by her step daughter. Oops! J.

The previous for next week have  more drama and a mysterious dress disappearance … OMG might be another end of the world as we know it J … this week was no white at the Oscars! What can be worse than that? No heels allowed?

Hope you enjoy the blog and again Lynn, thanks so much for this opportunity.

Until Next Time…..

  1. I got a kick out of Flipping Out last night and Jeff marking his territory. Of course it would have been a lot funnier if Zoila had taken each of the guys out on leash and they had lifted their leg and peed in the yard instead of in jars.

    • Had Enough! says:

I am now going to be Public Enemy No.1 for saying this, but I would have fired Zoila a long time ago. At first I thought she was just trying to be funny, giving Jeff constant lip, and lord knows, he deserves it most of the time. But over the past couple of years, I have changed my mind and I now think she has a seriously bad attitude. It isn’t funny. It isn’t cute. She comes off as lazy and truly resentful. I personally love a very clean house and I do dust the tops of the window frames and pretty much everything else. I regularly wipe down all the baseboard moulding and take the gazillions of books off the shelves, dusting thoroughly and blowing any dust off the books themselves. And yes, I scrub my floors on my hands and knees. So maybe it is just me, but I don’t think his standards are out-of-line. But even if they are – she’s been with him long enough to know that these are his standards and if she doesn’t want to do the job as he wants it done, find another job. I find the show becoming a bit dark and I think Zoila is part of the reason. I also wish that Jeff would hire truly competent people who really want to do a good job and who know how to set up a system and follow it. There really is no excuse for not having a client’s phone number. There must have been multiple opportunities for the blond one to write the phone number on the client info sheet and yet it isn’t there. Though why Jenny couldn’t call 411 I’ll never know. Anyway, my point here is about Zoila. I think Jeff Lewis is truly talented, has a great aesthetic (though I don’t share it), and very bright and funny and he should surround himself with talented people so he doesn’t waste a ton of energy on endless personnel problems. I love his attention to detail and insistence that things be done right. I also think he is usually funny as hell. He does cross the line sometimes. Like Bethenny. If they could just fine-tune it a bit, they would be pitch-perfect.

Oh, and great blog! Really enjoyed it.

      • Night Light says:

I completely disagree, sorry. If anything, Jeff is finally learning to control his anger issues or atleast apologize for them. Jeff wrote or commented somewhere that he realized that because of “flip outs” people didn’t focus on what he was saying but on how he was saying it. My baby is growing up. Regarding Zoila, she is more than employee to Jeff and they treat each other as such. She complains about Jeff and then misses him when he’s not there. I would compare this more to a counseling session that’s is getting closer to settling its issues. Jeff keeps hires Trace full time once he graduates, Jennie leaves Jeff finally to marry and have a bunch of babies, everyone else stays pretty much where they are at. Maybe that’s my fantasy? 🙂

Oh Gee whiz…. I just caught up on the last blog..wow… and watched Glee last night..I love that feel good show. Sad to hear some are leaving…don’t go..we need your insight…a balance in life..right? But Glee was great! And after teaching all day… 46 kids in a portable..elbow to elbow, trying to do art 4 classes that full…….I counted..182 days til SUMMER. Miss you all …. will try to keep up…but you all are too fast for me.

          Hugssssssss xoxo Annie

I bought the Bissel hard floor steam cleaner. I love it. Mops are too dirty for me, impossible to keep clean. Now? No more hands and knees cleaning for me.

  2. Kim Grandmatell says:

Just read that B. is officially gone from RHONYC but that her show will be getting a second season (all the other housewives have been asked back)….does this mean it will be Alex vs. Jill in Season 4?

  3. Olivia says:

Kelly once again reinforces her image as a complete horse’s ass. Khloe Kardashian, of all the moron sisters that bear the same name, is truly the most despicable of the bunch. And that in itself is difficult to pull one out of those scuzzies.

She has a dirty mouth, is inappropriately dressed for any occasion, and openly scorns her mother. Add to her DUI that found her serving a jail sentence (lasted all of 30 minutes due to overcrowding) and you have Khloe in a nutshell. She spends much of her onscreen time talking about sex and is pretty hostile as a rule.

Yes, Kelly, a great role model for your girls. Only a moron would allow her kids to watch the crap that is the Kardashian’s and want them to emulate that sleazebucket who drinks like a fish, swears like a trooper, and discusses her sex life on camera.

  4. cdnfillie58 says:

Someone posted earlier an article that B was coming back to RHNY as well as picking up a second season of BGM or whatever..if that’s the case and B is back on RHNY…it’s gonna be a nice boot up JZ’s ass…cause she isn’t gonna get to be top dog over B….I for one am gonna love watching these slam dunks …..oh snap Jill ::p

  5. Earring Girl says:

Why does Rachel and Brad talk like two “Valley teenagers”? What is up with Rodger he just seems strange. JMO

    • Quincy IL says:

because Rachel and Brad are two Valley girls.

    • kit9 says:

I litrilly(special Rachel pronunciation)cannot stand listening to Rachel speak. She’s a 40 something year old woman who speaks in the most infantile way. It’s like nails on a blackboard to me. There is just nothing tolerable about the woman. I don’t know how her husband can stand her. I loved the moment, when looking at the Dvd of their honeymoon, where she easily looked 20 years younger, Rodger says, ‘look, she…*pregnant pause* is, IS so pretty’. lol! The contrast in way Rachel looks then, just 10 years ago, and now is pretty shocking. She must smoke like a train.

  6. Earring Girl says:

@Dumberries – After reading that article it seems as though they are going to get what they want – a restart of Trashy T and Sausage Joe spending like crazy again. I guess it is good to have law enforcement connections through the “Family”.

For those who did not see this post on the previous blog:

Earring Girl: For the time being, I’m going to be optimistic and have faith that the trustee will keep their feet to the fire. But, there’s a good likelihood that these crooks will get their fresh start bankruptcy (based on the other stuff they’ve gotten away with). Let’s hope they are denied and made to answer this time!!!!

  7. icantstandthetoxicity says:
    • Kat says:

Yes it is. I think Jill is/was the source of most.

    • dumberries says:

Thanks for posting this link! I hope the writer is correct and everything we’ve heard about NY casting is just bs! If so, seems like the HWs have teamed up to plan stories this time. First, we heard about everyone coming back from Lulu’s camp. Then Jill’s. Next came Kelly herself. Bravo hasn’t jumped in and denied any one of them like they have in the past, so I’m back to not believing anything until the promotions for next season begin to air. (And I hold out hope that Kelly is toast!)

      • icantstandthetoxicity says:

This is an update to the article. The blogger added this a few minutes ago.

“ETA: Ok, my phone and email have done blowed up all afternoon. Here’s the deal with the Bethenny Hollywood Scoop story. That’s pretty much what I heard, except I heard that she is still negotiating the $$ for pop-ins throughout the season. She will not film features. So like, defending Alex from the ire of Jillsy, or shilling margarita mix or something. ”

        http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/reality-zen-with-jenn/2010/08/real-housewives-of-new-york-season-4-rumors.html

        • ShyAsrai says:

i’d love to see Bethenny on NY as a talking head ONLY commenting on the crazy that’s bound to come up.

if bravo is smart, they’ll give B free rein to snark her heart out at the idiots.

    • Quincy IL says:

I read the blog and enjoyed it. I bet that some plumbers and electricians are union, but the carpenters seem to be contract laborers that barely speak English. They probably aren’t union. There didn’t seem to be anyone working so he might have helped the delivery man because there were so many boxes.

      • error404 says:

What he said was he was hungry but couldn’t leave for lunch until it was unloaded, so he made Trace help so he could go to lunch quicker. IMO, it was just a test to see if Trace would willingly do it or complain. It’s always so kind of bs test with Jeff. I would love for that blogger who does the psych evaluations on the housewives to take a crack at Jeff. He’s a whole bog o crazy IMHO.

        • Quincy IL says:

I would really love for her to look at Jeff. Lynn tweets with her. I wonder if she could get her to do a tv analysis on him.

    • Wendy says:

I enjoyed your blog ,error. Thanks for the link. I agree, Jeff is over the top the way he treats his employees. I wish they would focus more on the work. I love the before and after shots.

  8. Jen says:

Good RZ blog! Thanks for guest blogging- 1st season I wasn’t really into the show but it grew on me and now I find it funny fluf 🙂 One would think after 14 years Rodger would be used to fashion week being same as annv ….. blah, blah, blah and agreed it’s time to stop discussing Taylor

also I surprised RZ would like Cameron and Demi would qualify at Oscars as do big that any designer would just be thrilled to hand over dresses- usually it’s the nominees that have dresses thrown at them- it will be interesting next week to see her reactions to Sandra getting the big gown she obsessed with

    • Quincy IL says:

I was wondering if there are tiers in the fashion industry. Does Rachel go to the really high class shoes and Jill go to the lower tiered shows. There seemed to be a bigger crowd at the Oscar de Laurenta event.

In the first season of NYC, Bethenny had clothes from Ginny Hilfinger. This last season, she didn’t seem to have that connection. I hope Jill didn’t harm Bethenny’s friendships with women not in the cast too. There could be fallout that we haven’t heard about.

  9. shamrockblonde says:

I realize that I am probably in the minority here, but I liked Taylor – I think her attitude came from the fact that Brad was originally hired to be her helper/assistant and instead, Rachel started treating him as her equal sometimes even favoring him over Taylor – I think his butt kissing had a lot to do with that – Rachel seems to like being fawned over – I get that she is a powerhouse but really – Taylor was with her longer – and Brad’s constant crying and whining is seriously annoying – I doubt very much that Rachel wants children – just an impression I get from her – I can only take this show in small amounts as the level of hysteria over a dress that would probably pay my mortgage payment is a bit much to take, but every so often it is kind of fun to watch the requisite meltdown – I also hate the expression “I die” every fifteen seconds – that and “banananas” –

    • Earring Girl says:

      I. T. A. I cannot take this show it is just silly fluff!

      • Adgirl says:

Taylor was PO’d that Rachel broke a lot of promises to her

        • Quincy IL says:

I liked Taylor too. She would work while Brad played with Rachel and it must have been horribly frustrating.

Brad believes that the new girl should be his subordinate, but he jumped right over Taylor to talk to Zoe all of the time.

          I really can’t stand Brad.

  10. error404 says:

    RE: Rachel Zoe

    – I think the whole obsession with white started AFTER they got the memo about no white. The “drama” in this show is so contrived, it’s unreal. All of the “doom, doom, doom” music leading up to the crushing news” no white at the oscars. “It’s a fashion disaster!” OMFL

    – Why can’t she just “man up” and admit she doesn’t want a kid. She’s rich and famous already. Anything else in her career would just be icing on the cake. She has her own frickin TV show for crying out loud! Claiming that your career will suffer if you have a kid when you’ve already made it is just another way of saying “I don’t want kids, but need an excuse so people don’t think I’m a selfish bitch.”

    • Jen says:

I think she doesn’t want kids because it plays into her insecurities with gaining weight…. it’s clear she has issues but to admit that would be seen as ‘selfish’

    • Quincy IL says:

I think they all will get bunions from those shoes.

  11. Kat says:

I’ve seen one or two episodes of Flipping out. I tuned out after a lunch scene when Jeff flipped out over onions iirc. It’s all I could stomach.

    • Quincy IL says:

I love design shows. Flipping Out was a show where they bought a house or duplex and fixed it up. Then, they either lived in the house or sold it.
Now, because of the housing market in LA, they are working for people who want renovations. I liked the flipping episodes very much as you could see them design.

  12. Thanks for bringing-up 2 current shows Lynn. I’m still trying to debrief and detox from The Housewives.
I just caught-up on the posts on the previous page, and as soon as I get some work done around here, I plan on reading the 10 page article that was posted there about the “woman behind the curtain” at Bravo.
I had been planning to try & make some sense out of “reality” as it applies to The Real Housewives, and make a blog-post about it.
Instead, I got a little lost, (ok I have menopausal insomnia, and I think you can kind-of tell. I got a lot lost somewhere in the middle-of-the-night),
-and I ended-up writing a long-winded post that pretty much relates Reality TV to everything.
I even played-with graphics & I think that’s my favorite part of the post.
If anyone feels like looking, its the top post on my page at http://njhousewives.blogspot.com/

I saw where someone hinted that Bethenny will appear on RHWONY–a HA! I still say that she & Kelly were together recently as told by the #Tweets.
Also, on the previous page, someone quoted the word, “traumatized”, to describe what it feels like to be on the viewing-end of The Real Housewives. -Amen to that!
In the grand scheme of things, what we make for dinner is more important that a silly television show, but there is something traumatizing about the experience, and thank-you Lynn for letting us have a little first-aid here where we can let it out and recover from it.

    • Pat Johnson says:

Thank God, I really thought it was just me who saw through this stuff.

    • Kat says:

Great post! And for more manufactured facts look into the pharmaceutical companies and then their links to the FDA. Articles are written for medical journals about drug efficacy studies but the writers (MDs) are bought and paid for by the drug companies.

      • Thanks for looking at it guys, the drug-industry? Good point, something we depend on to keep us healthy, stuff we put into our own bodies-it doesn’t get realer than that.
I was all-over the place with that post ’cause I’m honestly seeing everything as it relates to fake reality tv lately.
The only item that I left-out, ’cause it was just getting too long, was the story that mediatakeout.com has been taunting Fantasia with accusations that her recent suicide attempt was a publicity-stunt.
I’m starting to think that those “Idol” shows are just recruiting sessions for people willing to sell-their souls to be on television, and I even let myself get carried-away with a little fantasy of Danielle trying to get herself or her kids a golden ticket.

Had Enough posted an interesting link about the mastermind behind Bravo Media programming, Lauren Zalaznick. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/02/magazine/02zalaznick-t.html?pagewanted=10
If the link doesn’t work just go to nytimes.com and search her name. The article is from 11/02/08 and it is a fascinating insight into programming.

    • Thank-you for re-posting the link, that’s the article I’m “saving” for my coffee-break.

      • Kat says:

You’re welcome, but Had Enough gets the credit. 😉

        • Jen says:

Ah now makes sense why Kelly and Teresa don’t get fired for attacking Andy

Also I bet that bar mitzah (sp?)invite was same one JZ and Ramona went too and JZ was person who passed it on

          • Kat says:

Yep. The rock on housewives of NY comment made me think the same thing.

            • Great article. Since it was written in 2008, I wonder if she is still there?
I noticed that they were just starting to talk about WWHL-the talk-show they mentioned?
The Bat-Mitzva had to be Jill or Ramona??
I’ll think of this lady as the “MoM” of the Housewives, since her name is a tough one to remember.
And Semiotics as her college major? I confess ignorance, but I have a feeling that learning about it will be fun.
My favorite quote from the story, from the last page,
“Why are you watching Zoila clean Jeff Lewis’s house?” Zalaznick asked, referring to a long-suffering maid on the show “Flipping Out.” “I don’t know!” All she knows is that they do.

              • Kat says:

From page 4 “Unlike most NBC executives, Zalaznick didn’t work her way up through the ranks. She didn’t go to business school; as an undergraduate at Brown, she majored in semiotics, a theoretically supercharged approach to cultural criticism.”

              • The little reply thing is invisible under Kat’s reply?
I Googled© Semiotics. So it has something to do with symbolism? We actually studied that in our Catechism in grammar-school, but the term Semiotics wasn’t used as far as I remember.
-Pretty interesting background. I’ve been thinking-about Wall Street Woman’s post about Archetypes since I read it- and I have to wonder how much influence Semiotics & Archetypes have on our Housewives???? I know that I’ve thought-of “Tara” in GWTW more than once while watching The Housewives, and now I’m wondering if that was intended.

              • Kat says:

Here is an interview with her from 2010. Speaks of Bravo’s Top Chef and Housewives around minute 12.

I don’t watch Rachael Zoe but good job on the recap Maite1964!

I like Flipping out but sometimes it makes me feel stupid. I’m never quite sure when Jeff is kidding. Like with the Trace pees sitting down remarks.
I live in town, and the country makes me a little nervous. I don’t think I could live anyplace that coyotes were a problem! Do you really have to pour urine around your yard to keep them away? Jeff talked about buying it and that it was illegal. I learned a lot last night, lol.

    • error404 says:

wild animals are moving further into cities as they search for food. I was initially concerned about coyotes and my small dog, but I read up on it. Like most animals, they are afraid of humans and will avoid you. The trouble starts when you begin to domesticate them. Coyote attacks are rare, but like one recent on in LA, it happened after local people were regularly feeding the animals at a park. The frequent interactions took away the natural fear.

the whole urine thing is a wives-tale and typical Jeff craziness.

      • WindyCityWondering says:

I live in suburbia but back up to woods/farm field, as the woods are slowly disappearing the coyotes and deer are closer to us. Every time the fire trucks/sirens blazing go down the street we hear the coyote choir respond in song. Two neighbors lost little dogs even though they were warned. My back yard is fenced in and I have two huskies so I don’t worry. But you should be careful because they are sneaky smart.

        • Melanie says:

I regularly hear coyotes running down our street. We live near a desert wash along with a golf course. Neighbors found a fox den in their backyard a few years bag and Javelinas (wild pigs) at the park beside our elementary school. One night I couldn’t believe when I was going down the hall towards the kitchen “o my god” a rabbit was running out to go outside by our tiny chihuahua doggie door . Needless to say, the next day more desert landscaping to shore up the escape routes
in the block wall surrounding our yard. We’ve been here for 23 years. We were supposed to be citified!

      • Quincy IL says:

We have a cougar in our forest. I have heard it, but my neighbors have taken photos. They aren’t supposed to be in Illinois, but one attacked a horse in a pasture and the vets identified the slashes as from a cougar. When I walk I carry a whip. I worry about my horses, cats, and my mom’s dogs.

        • Kat says:

Big cats have made it to NE too! And I’m in a city.

          • sweet pea says:

I think it’s an example of their natural habitat disapearing. The developers in my town buy land and build in the “foothills”. The homeowners in those subdivisions complain that the deer eat their shrubs, the raccoons get in their garbage and eat the koi in their ponds, and the coyotes kill their pets. Well, excuse me..who lived there first? Just a point of contention with me.

            • Kat says:

Big cats don’t usually meander through Nebr, not Omaha anyway. I do agree with your post.

              • sweet pea says:

That’s really strange then! How did that big kitty get lost? Kinda sad for the cat and very frightening for those around.

              • sweet pea says:

Maybe someone’s pet that got loose or maybe released when they couldn’t handle it anymore? Happens a lot. Sad and scary.

              • Kat says:

Actually I believe atleast 2 have been seem iirc and one was shot and killed unfortunately. I don’t remember the other’s outcome.

There were also false alarm reports that turned out to be house cats iirc.

              • Quincy IL says:

I am a member of a trail riding club. The cowboys in our group travel throughout the US and Canada so they have some experience with cougars and other predators. They said that the cats follow the deer. We have had some cold winters so they can cross over the frozen river as well as the train and car bridges. The number of deer is up around here because the crops have been plentiful and they find some corn all winter in the millions of acres of farmland.

I am always on alert and I walk the main road in the morning with lots of traffic with people going to work.

          • error404 says:

we have an occasion bear, some coyote, some fox, some wild dogs, but mostly deer which have eaten up half the town.

my biggest fear is the fischers, although we haven’t had any here, but ever since my sister’s neighbor’s cat got killed and his car scratched up in suburban Boston, I’ve been leary

    Hi Lynne,,
“yet doesn’t explain to Trace his vision for him in the future. Trace doesn’t seem to be aware that Jeff has such high hopes for him within Jeff Lewis Enterprises and it isn’t clear to viewers whether or not Trace is interested in a lifetime relationship with Lewis. ”

I always enjoy your blogs and did again..
Not a rabid fan, but, I do want to add a couple things in Jeff’s defense..when talking to Trace about his expectations of him, he did tell him that when he graduates he would be getting a 30% pay raise and he wanted him to be his top dog /project manager..It has been implied that Jenny would be leaving..maybe to pursue her acting career( and to focus on a new relationship?) Jenny said last night that she knew Trace and Sarah (?), would be going to N Cali with Jeff. I was under the impression that she said Jeff was grooming Trace to take over . I could be wrong. I also think that after Jeff asked for and got Trace’s input on that job he gave him some positive feedback, which validated Trace and surprised me…he is stingy with compliments. And you’re right his human resource department could use an overhaul..Zoila is a trip! Yet she misses Jeffrey when he’s not there. On the whole I think his employees that remain for the most part, like him .

    • WindyCityWondering says:

It is a big love/hate party and Jeff is a great ringmaster. Sometimes I don’t like how he acts or talks and other times I am surprised by his empathy. IMO Zoila knows Trace is Jeff’s chosen one and she is a wee bit jealous.

  20. JKW says:

Regarding Chris and the wine/coke. I remembered seeing an episode from Spain of No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain and they were drinking coke/wine.

Calimocho (from the Basque Kalimotxo) is a drink consisting of approximately 50% red wine and 50% cola-based soft drink. Alternative names include Rioja libre (from “Rioja”, and “Cuba Libre”), kali, motxo. In Chile the drink is known as jote (Chilean Spanish for the Black Vulture), and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, the Republic of Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia and other former Yugoslav republics it is known as bambus (meaning bamboo) and musolini (as in Benito Mussolini). The person who mixes bamboo 50:50 , is often defined as “gulozan”. In the Czech Republic it is known as houba (meaning mushroom), and in Hungary as Vadász (meaning hunter) or vörösboros kóla or VBK for short. In Mozambique and South Africa it is known as Catemba, and in Germany it is sometimes called Korea

    • Had Enough! says:

      And in any language: YUCK.

To me a Cuba Libre is rum and coke. Though anyone who has ever had the incredible anejo rum of Cuba would never, ever put anything in it, much less Coca Cola. It is an amazing liquor that is meant to be sipped straight and OMG is it wonderful. Rum and coke is what you do with Bacardi.

    • twoile says:

Your knowledge on the subject is fantastic…..from where does it come pls?

      • Had Enough! says:

When you travel to other countries, you can find Cuban anejo rum for sale in the airport duty free stores and of course in the grocery and liquor stores. In the old days, when you could bring liquids on board a plane, you could put a small bottle in your boot (not if you were wearing the boot, of course, but if it was in your backpack) and pad it well with all those smelly socks) and, well…

Same old crap. We all invested 15 weeks in this feud, and we still don’t know what it was about! Man, I hope they finally spill some details during the reunion….

One paranoid person’s irrational freak out over nothing, a misunderstanding really, turns into televised WWIII.

        • ShyAsrai says:

my bet is they can’t come out with the specific ‘offense’ Danielle offered to the Manzo clan (& friends) because THEIR family & friends don’t come off well.

i think at least a couple of the husbands or sons had a little sumpin’-sumpin’ going on with Danielle.

you see this typically with women – they want to fight the other woman instead of blaming the cheating man.

  22. error404 says:

I get why they harp so much on the anniversary thing. Zoe is a workaholic, and like all workaholics, will use the fact that she’s working hard as justification for failing in other areas of her life. Especially if he really wants a kid, I’m not too sure how much more bending that marriage can take before it snaps.

We’re all suppose to marvel at how RZ does it all, juggles marriage and career, and sympathize on how hard her life is. We see this a lot in reality tv with people who unlike Zoe, haven’t really made it yet. BGM? and The Fabulous Beekman Boys both are stories of workaholic who are trying to hang on to “normal” life (home/family) while pursuing fame. But RZ was already famous before the show even began. But her new penthouse and office.. a far cry from the garage she ran things out of in previous seasons… are an indication that she wants more.

    • WindyCityWondering says:

Rachel doesn’t seem to want a normal life and it breaks my heart to hear Rodger say how much he loves her a million times with nothing coming back from her. Can’t she spare him 9 months and give him the child he wants and most likely will take care of full time? Then they can both have the babies they really want.

      • Jen says:

I still believe her real reason for not wanting a baby is because she has weight issues with pregnancy- the woman is to thin!

        • AZ Girl says:

Have we ever seen Rachel eating? No. She always has coffee in her hand. Eating disorder is putting it mildly. She is a terrible example for young girls.

          • kit9 says:

Yep, I noticed in the dvd from 10 years ago that when Rachel is holding the ice cream cone, she leans in to take a bite and then barely touches it. I doubt she got more than a speck in her mouth.

      • Need a Hobby says:

Rodger and she have been together for so long, it’s not like they don’t know each other and didn’t make a deal long ago and know how that deal goes. I’m not suggesting anything about Rodger…no hint or wink from me, just so there’s no misunderstanding. I just think Rachel really doesn’t want kids, isn’t interested, doesn’t really want to spend the time or energy being a mom. She has other interests. Their deal is, IMO, that she has her “career” and he supports her. And he makes it work.

Now all of a sudden Rodger’s notices the bio clock is ticking and wants a baby? All of a sudden he thinks RZ is mommy material and that’s what she wants to be? All of a sudden he thinks RZ is going to be a completely different person than she’s been all these years?

If it’s not just for TV, then he’s an idiot frankly. Could be wrong, but I don’t see this story line going anywhere. I could see RZ mailing away for a kid (there must be some country Angelina, Madonna, and Mia Farrow have left populated from which RZ could adopt….or lease), I also could see RZ waiting for the delivery to her door of any child with far less enthusiasm than for a Versace or vintage Chanel. If Rodger wants a kid, I think he likely needs to make other arrangements. Or just adopt/have one made to order and hire someone to raise the child for them if he intends to stay with RZ.

  29. Wall St Lady says:

Danielle’s dress on the reunion (a la Jeff ) is so short u can see her ovaries !

In my career managing 100’s of people over 20years, the hardest part has been what I would call my failure w/ employees. I admire Jeff’s attempt to train.
Sports teams expect to b called off the field when they r hurting the team & don’t complain ,pout or get even w/passive aggressive behavior.
Telling some one 3xs they r hurting the team really means this job is not ur calling & prevents that employee from finding their calling & feeling good about them self. Jeff gets emotionally invested & should cut his losses sooner in my opinion.
Familiarity breeds contempt & having your office in ur home only encourages this. The urine thing could cause a law suit in my opinion.
I really admire Jeff’s integrity toward his clients. I love his work also his commitment to preserve the surrounding neighborhood’s historical style.
He is a screwball but I find him sensitive , insensitive, funny ,& mean. Jeff’s artistic contribution in my opinion outweighs his failed attempt w/employees. His successful employees r naturally successful, w/ little credit to Jeff. That being said , would u hire him?.I would.

  30. NMhousewife says:

I haven’t even begun to finish the comments for the day, sooo behind, but I did read the Absurd to Sublime article regarding Danielle stalking the Manzo family, which only confirms my opinion of this mess. I don’t believe Danielle is an innocent bullying victim. Obviously from the beginning she has shown stalker qualities, constant pay-attention-to-me personality. I do believe she pushes buttons that the Manzo-Guidice-Laurita gang react to, and THEY really handle it very, very badly. I have a little tiny bit of sympathy for them just because I surely wouldn’t want a Danielle person in my life, but the idiotic things they do cancels out most of my sympathy. I wish if Bravo really felt the need to continue RHWONJ, they would fire them all and start fresh with new women with a better background.

As far as Rachel Zoe Project, I watched 1 episode and can never go back there again! Instead I go to Discovery Channel and watch a show called “The Colony.” Anyone else watch this reality-based show? I am really enjoying it.

  33. Quincy IL says:

If you google “Bethenny Frankel,” there are articles stating that she will be in NYC RH and that she is negotiating her pay. I hope she gets a lot more money than Kelly and that someone lets Kelly know about it.

So..yesterday, Luann tweeted and gave a link to the article that said that everyone but Bethenny was asked back even that vile Alex. Looks like Luann liked that article. Doesn’t that irk you ?

Apparently, Bethenny’s twitter about a decision was about this issue. If she can go into the fray in a limited way and not be the target of Kelly or Zarin, I’d love to watch her. Ramona, Sonja and Alex have thrown nice dinners in the past and we enjoyed watching Bethenny there.

Let Luann, Jill and Kelly spend their time together. I will record and quickly pass over their scenes.

Bonnie Hunt and Neecy (sp) MUST do a video of this … Kim and Nene and hysterical blindness at seeing something (camera flash to Dwight in an awful outfit or something similar). Wine glasses in hand, maybe the wine mysteriously disappears as one of them gulps it then forgets that she did it. I’ll watch the episode tomorrow after school. My school day will take weeks to get through. 🙂

mom2: That’s exactly what I’ve been seeing in my mind’s eye when I think of the Atlanta 3 on Ghost Hunters!!!! Unfortunately I doubt it will be as good as Bonnie and Neecy doing their Kim/Nene parodies.

Remember their “CSI: Atlanta?” It was great.

    More about Lauren Zalaznick:

    http://www.thewrap.com/thegrill#

“As president of NBC Universal Women and Lifestyle Entertainment Networks, Zalaznick oversees Bravo Media, Oxygen Media and iVillage – the original online destination for women. In May 2008 she launched Women@NBCU, a sales and marketing initiative designed to create custom solutions for advertisers seeking to connect with a highly targeted female demographic.

Under her watch, Bravo has become the No.1 ranked entertainment cable network for upscale, educated and engaged television viewers.

Since NBC Universal acquired Oxygen in 2007, under Zalaznick’s oversight the network has shattered every previous ratings record and recorded its best year ever in 2008 across all demographic, on-air, on-line, and financial metrics.”

  36. Hello all. I’ve been following your comments for the last several weeks. I’ve never chimed in before, but felt compelled to let you all know what a great blog, and train of comments you have here. I find myself howling in response to the colorful, hilarious, witty snark I’ve read here. It’s my new bedtime reading! Of course, I end up more awake than ever, from laughing so much. I hope you guys don’t mind if I jump in here and there, with my own take on these poser bee-atches, that are all things Housewives. I thought I would start a blog on the DC Housewives , but found myself, instead, looking forward to another LynnNChicago update and inevitable flow of mundane and erudite, crass, bawdy, and smart ass hell, commentary that inevitably foll0ws. The DC women are just not that interesting at this point. I love it!I think I should have some interest in the show before I commit to blogging about it. BTW, I went to Brown, contemplated a Semiotics major, but changed my mind quickly, realizing that a po’ black child, needed a real job, upon graduation, and didn’t have the space to dream, or make Indie films, when the student loan man would be calling- for a long time… So there goes my art, here comes the bills…. I was surprised to discover Ms. Bravo was one of our own – when she arrived on the cover of our Alumni magazine a few years back. Neither the NJ Hussiewives, nor Kelly, had made an appearance at that point, though, so I did not feel shamein our affiliation. Each day, though, I wonder more about her “tons of integrity” and if this implicitly misogynistic machine, is well, getting “creep” to her. At the end of the day, I know it is about cash, and advertising, but puh-leeeze!!!! The NJ Franchise is such a pathetic venture, it should be shut down, if for no other reason than Bravo’s efforts to appear as if they have a standard for behavior, and the character of the individuals they select to star in their reality series. My two cents….

    • Squirrels says:

Yatzee Ms Bitter. The new found knowledge that there is a woman pulling the strings revolts me to the nth degree. This series has all the makings of a psychobabble book and Ms. Z. should be shown up front and center.

It’s hard enough to be a woman in a man’s world. It’s that much harder to fight against a woman in power who exploits our gender. There is no up side to this scenario.

    • Laura aka Just done says:

      Welcome Bitter 🙂

    • babelony says:

I think it’s all going to come back and bite her in the ass. They’ve invested in too many RH shows, each crappier than the last, and peeps are starting to catch on to the casting/scripting for drama’s sake. “Upscale, educated and engaged television viewers” (as stated above) don’t enjoy having the wool pulled over their eyes, nor do they enjoy grifters and crazies being rewarded.

      Welcome to the board!

I cannot believe a woman is in charge of these programs targeted at the female demographic – Oxygen airs Bad Girls Club and Bravo airs all of the Housewives programs that pits women against each other. I saw on the blog the other day someone posted that NJ ratings were higher than NY and one commentor said they could not believe it. Well all I have to say is believe it because the younger women (16-30) enjoys this type of violence women against women. That is why Teresa and Snooky have the “Orange Tribe” following them with all the “Love, love, love yous”! I have read the other blogs and the comments from other women about Danielle, Bethenny and Alex are just down right disgusting!

        • babelony says:

The other day I compared the direction the HW shows are going to the Bad Girls Club, but said it was on VH1. I forgot it’s on Oxygen.

I’ve seen other blogs defend Teresa’s actions and her and Joe’s bankruptcy, saying that they love, love, love her and it’s none of our business. Excuse me, dumbass, but it’s all of our business. Who do they think pays for this shit? Sometimes people don’t use their brains.

        • MickeyMouth says:

I’m not surprised. Remember when Dove had those love your body campaign ads. They advertised on Perez’ site. He had it as his wallpaper. And one of the articles on the page was him calling 16 yr old Miley Cyrus a slut and another young girl a whore. I actually wrote to the company questioning placing an ad empowering women on a site that called children and women sluts and whores. They emailed me back and basically told me so what. It was actually a very insulting response and I haven’t used their products since.

        • Need a Hobby says:

IIRC, Atlanta’s ratings are higher than New Jersey’s and NJ’s are higher than NYC’s.

And yes, women are in charge of programming this stuff (new Pres of Bravo is Bravo’s former GM). Given the success…ratings, demos, sponsors and profits…it seems they know their audiences. And know that various people watch these shows for a variety of different reasons. That’s fine with them….as long as people watch. They’d just as soon put on a raccoon roller derby if it made them as much money or more and if there was any “prestige” spin they could make of it.

To everyone who wants to stop watching the Housewives shows and not come back on here anymore, I feel like that some of the time too. They pretty much make me sick, their thieves and liars and in general not very nice people. It’s unfair that they live their lives without a care in the world and walk all over people. But their awful lives make good conversation. To be honest, I don’t have much more to do at night but watch TV. My b/f works rotating shifts and I have to be home for my mother most of the time and she sleeps a lot because of her illness. My point being is that I get lonely and Lynn’s blog has kept me company for so long, since the hub pages. When I get done with what I have to do, I look forward to signing on here, sometimes I should be doing what I should be doing but come here! All of you have kept me company. I don’t think this blog is all about the housewives. I’ve got advice on this blog and recipes, friendships, I’ve even gotten help with homework. We’re all aware that it’s a nice group of people here. I hope everyone who is feed up with the horrid housewives stays around. We can pray for karma together!

    • Squirrels says:

LOL @ Hub pages. Remember when we moved and everyone freaked out over the “leave a reply” button? We got over it. Lynn didn’t budge. She knew we would figure it out.

Very nice post Boston. Karma seems to have deserted us for a while, but it’s headed back in the right direction – no Chewy on Dancing with The Stars. Yeah!!!! I share your feelings about coming here; it hasn’t been about the HWs for me in awhile. It’s more about observing the personality types and actions of non-celebrities who’ve put them themselves out there to be scrutinized – Lynn’s blog has the best, most diversified, and funniest scrutinizers around!!!!

      • vilzvet says:

This is so right-on Boston, you expressed how many of us feel. I even come here before checking Facebook…I know there are tons of books I should be reading, but I’ll get around to them someday! So even if the Hated Wives come back, it’s not going to be so awful because just think of the blogs to come!! I Hate Jill Zarin will live on and keep providing surefire entertainment.

I think I am addicted! LOL –

      Count me in!

      • CdnFillie says:

Ok you guys here I go…
For what it’s worth, here’s my take..
I don’t give a crap what these reality people do on these shows because in the grand scheme of things they don’t really involve me. But they sure as hell are entertaining me. These shows are NOT my reality. And thank the good Lord for that. My husband just got a new job; unfortunately he’s 5 hrs away from home which means we have to alternate weekends. I was bored to say the least until I got connected with this blog.
I am puzzled by some posters here that seem to take what they do so personally…to the point where they want to leave this great blog and stop watching these shows. You are giving them too much credit…and energy. Why do you get upset if the bioches are asked back…do you think Bravo doesn’t know this blog and others are out there? The more negative comments they see…the bigger dollar signs for Bravo. That’s the way things roll.
REALLY…this blog has probably factored in on who Bravo decides to bring back…and we’ve been feeding it. We all know Jill and Kelly have been keeping up with this blog and Lynn you should be proud of the responses you are getting here…this is by far the best and most mentioned blog about the housewives.
I live in Canada, border city really, to Detroit Mi. I personally live out in the county as we call it, not hillbilly but close enough to the city to be happy I don’t live in a city. Our culture is such that most of the US think we’re a passive or “Laisser fair” (which is French for who gives a fuck) kind of society, and rightly so. For example, we just had a rare murder in our fair city…the culprit being a Detroit thug who smuggled a gun across our fair border and shot someone after a bar night. His punishment…he was acquitted because he said he felt threatened being black in a predominantly white neighbourhood. Can’t figure that out…guns are illegal in Canada and he smuggled it across, that alone should have earned him some jail time, but whatever…see what I mean… Que sera sera… (Can you tell I’m French LOL)?
I guess my point is, if some of you let yourselves get upset with these reality shows to the point where you won’t come over to this blog or boycott the shows you will miss out on reading some very good posts, and getting to know some very interesting people. I’ve learned a lot from many posters on here, I may stop watching RHNJ or I may start watching RHDC, who knows but a sure thing is, I will always read up on what goes on here because it’s the little tidbits I pick up from the posters here that hold my interest more than those idiots on the reality shows. THANK YOU LYNN

If I’ve upset anyone I’m sorry and you may dump on me all you want. I will take it with a grain of salt..a slice of lemon and a shot of tequila…cheers 😛

It is pretty obvious when I have a day off work ’cause I can’t help but stay logged in and post all day! I’m completely addicted to this group of people and the wonderful conversation. The latest Perezhilton.com posting on Danielle is that she is being ordered to appear in Orange County Superior Court for a mandatory mediation regarding the lawsuit that ex-husband No. 1 Kevin Maher has filed. Look at the picture Perez posted from her birthday party at Scores. BTW who has a birthday party at Scores? Especially if you have 2 daughters.
The angle clearly shows white power up her nose. This woman is a bat shit crazy coke addict. Forget about her being the bullied. That is BS. She was caught stalking them as of 2 weeks ago. End of story.

    • Need a Hobby says:

Sure Perez hasn’t photoshopped the pic? He’s notorious for that.

        Proverbially. 😉

    • MickeyMouth says:

Difficult to say. It could actually be because of her nose job and the face she is making is causing her cartilged to be stretched giving a white appearance. The photo is grainy close up and un-retouched anywhere else I can see (minus the penis of course).

    • Had Enough! says:

That’s nice, but the case is pending in the U.S. District Court, Central District of California, not in the Orange County Superior Court. The case number is CV09-8646-CAS.

I just looked at the docket. There is no order for mediation.

There is no civil litigation pending in Orange County Superior Court under the name of Maher or Staub. He originally filed there but she had the case removed to the federal court.

    • Rabble Rouser says:

Funny that you mentioned Danielle and the use of coke, I noticed that when she was in the car on the way to meet Caroline that she did this sort of nose snort that cokeheads are known to do. When someone does coke, it kind of liquefies and starts to drip, so they snort it back up.

Not to mention, after chronic use coke users can develop a deviated septum.

  48. Quincy IL says:

I watched the HBO special on the Salahis that was recommended on this site.

Is it possible the NBC got the Salahis off scott free in the gate crashing White House event. It seems that their production people let us think the Salahis lived in the big house when they really live in a modest home closer to DC. The Bravo crew let us think that the US Polo team was playing the Indian team when the Indian government withdrew over the White House crashing and the team that played the Salhis were all of Pakistani origen. That surely would have been picked up by the camera crew. The whole awards ceremone was a sham.

Also, it seems Bravo is playing around with the DC time line. They showed the polo event first and in real life it was days after the White House dinner event.

    • Squirrels says:

Fair to say Bravo plays fast and loose with timelines. Olivia caught the whole “finale” episode sham. It’s also fair to say, Bravo has no sense of sensibility, or sense of shame.

Off topic so I apologize. Watching the re-runs of this season’s Top Chef and it occurred to me that none of them are using some of the advanced techniques that were common in previous season especially last season. “Lifestyle” magazine is featuring an article about the NJ wives that says they were “scared for their lives” by Danielle. Give me an effen break!!

This is probably no more than a run up to the next two weeks of the reunion show we an eye on ratings. Scared of what pray tell? All three women have husbands, live in secured mansions, Albie is a deputy sheriff, and we know that Jacqueline’s husband Chris has an arsenal in the closet. And I am sure that Juicy Joe either is carrying or knows of those who do. Plus let’s not forget Caroline’s dogs that look large enough to bring down a deer.

So why would they be scared of Danielle? Her mouth maybe? Her clout? None that I can see. Didn’t the Manzo’s host a fund raiser on behalf of the local constabulary? These people are all genuinely nuts!

The only “fear” I can determine is what she could reveal about their lives. Other than that I call b.s.!

I hope she is not giving any demos with her book about how her food is not fattening. Joe looks like a stuffed sausage and he must not be eating the Skinney Italian way, at least Jason looks in shape and he can be good for Bethenny’s promo about her book. I have to set the clock so I don’t miss this mess! I hope they make her talk about the bankruptcy and the auction. 🙂

        • Olivia says:

And just why is the Today Show giving this thief airtime?

          • _therealmelissa says:

Because she is part of the NBC/Bravo family, I suppose. Sickening, huh? I wish Matt Lauer would give her the same treatment he gave Tom Cruise.

            • Adgirl says:

And Bravo probably owns 10% of Skinny Eyetalian as part of their merchandising agreement.

              • _therealmelissa says:

Actually, I think you are right. Bravo does get at a percentage of the earning from any of their products. This is why (as said in the article about Old whats-her-name-the-Bravo-head-lady) they don’t mind pushing product.
                Pimp the product!!!
I am such a cynic about all this. And yes, I keep coming back…

Thanks Lynn for a place for me to vent!

        • OneMoreinBoston says:

I think he is putting on weight because he eats dinner #1 with Theresa and dinner #2 with the blond mistress.

Who probably competes with Theresa in the culinary department as well as the bedroom department.

      • boston02127 says:

@dumberries —Imagine the esthetician that Teresa goes to get waxed. She probably does the Kelly/monogram bag jump.

        • dumberries says:

ROFL! I wonder if she gets charged double for twice the normal amount of wax, time, gag reflex control…

Here’s a site for sore eyes.
Jill’s tweet & picture—-Last family summer with ally before college. @pattistanger stopped by to kiss her goodbye. So sweet! http://twitpic.com/2i7de2

    • Earring Girl says:

I am sick of Jill the “empty nest syndrone”, Patti the “Fire crotch” and I hope Ally goes to college and enjoy life and grow up without her mommy!

      • Olivia says:

The fact that Ally is a mere 45 minutes away suggests that Mommy will be dropping in quite frequently. If we can’t get away from Jill there is little hope for Ally.

    • Had Enough! says:

Sarah Lawrence is located in Bronxville, NY. Very close to the city. I’m thinking that from the UES, you get on the FDR, cross the Harlem River to the Major Deegan, then the Cross County Parkway. Sixteen miles. Maybe an hour in traffic. She’s going to college but she isn’t going away from home. Might as well have gone to Columbia (the university, not the country) or NYU and lived at home. She’ll probably be home so much that no one will realize she is actually “away” at college.

      • Earring Girl says:

A friend of mine son attends the University of MD and his family lives in Silver Spring, MD about 45 minutes away. He lives on campus, they only sees him during the holidays, he calls but he does not come like we thought he would, he does his own laundry, buys his groceries and cooks for himself. If Ally wants to grow up and I don’t really thinks she does, so she probably will be in and out of Manhattan at every chance. I hope she doesn’t, I hope she surprises Jill and all of us and stay on campus!

Nite all – I want to see what Trashy Tree has to say on the Today show in the morning.

    • boston02127 says:

“last family summer” Jill acts as if Ally is going off to war. Do they celebrate everything? Don’t forget to pack her days of the week undies Jill.

      • dumberries says:

Ally and Albie might make a good couple. Neither of them are allowed to leave the nest without suffering from mommy-induced guilt complex. Too bad Zarin won’t permit Ally from dating anyone outside of their religion…

    • lillybee says:

Poor Ally, does she really need a good bye kiss for the awful Ms Singer.

  59. Olivia says:

Apparently it appears from the rumors spreading throughout different blogs that Bethenny will more than likely return to RHONY.

I would want to ask her for what possible reason? Those of us on this blogsite stood by her during this past season and followed her to her own show. Most of what we saw was commented upon and she came away with a positive footing with us.

But I am unable to discern any reason, with the exception of money, money, money, that through this never ending exposure could possible turn off the “fans” because of it. I like Bethenny but Bethenny week after week after week is asking a little too much.

Bravo packages these stories for 15 week interludes and even then we know that much of what we see could be condensed into half of that time. Is Bethenny that money hungry or addicted to the spotlight that she feels that this is a wise career move on her part?

Isn’t Bravo fearful of becoming known as the “Bethenny Network”? I can only speak for myself but I remember when they insisted on showing “Deal or No Deal” and “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” multiple times during the week that the audience tuned out in a short while.

I am not sure what Bethenny’s angle is in doing this but she is beginning to slip a notch or two in my estimation.

    • boston02127 says:

@Olivia–Since nothing has been confirmed by Bravo, do you think the NJ wives started this gossip train and the NY wives (Jill) followed?

      • Olivia says:

No denials either. Not from Bethenny or any of the others.

      • Earring Girl says:

@Olivia- Maybe Bravo knows that the show will not do well without her and that will let Jill know that she is not the “star” of NYHW. I don’t think Bethenny will be on camera much, I am almost sure she will not filming with Jill or Kelly- maybe LuAnn. Since Bravo has not said anything and this is all speculation – I am not going to get worked up until it happens. I think a “little” bit of Bethenny is good for NYHW!

    • dumberries says:

Olivia, agree – there is definitely a risk of over-exposure. Yet, I think if I were Bethenny, I do both for one season (only) too. I see it as a security blanket. Her own show was about the madness in rushing to get married and prepare for the baby. There is a chance that the next season will not do well as the novelty wears off. If the rumors of her return to RHNY are true, she will only be making guest appearances from time to time, not jumping back into the pit from week to week.

  60. boston02127 says:

Ablie’s tweet—- “Tuna tar tar” might be my favorite thing to say

I bet he had his pinkies up when he said that.

  61. boston02127 says:

Last night I wrote down how many Tweeter followers each of the NJ housewives have. I’m curious to see how they drop now that the show is over. Jill’s dropped 11 today.

Oh God I need a life.

  62. Adgirl says:

RHNY cast: Bethenny and Jason probably weighed all of her options and whether she felt up to being on both shows. She’s a smart girl and knows very well what it entails. Bravo will be paying her REALLY WELL.

If Bethenny does appear on RHNY watch Kelly have a meltdown every single day!!
    Married to a hot guy!
    Baby!
    Books!
    Exercise DVD!
    Great figure!
    Own show with awesome ratings!
    Huge twitter following!
    Hoda Koptke!
    Ha!

Kelly does have her home made youtube on how to chew gum.

    • dumberries says:

I bet (and hope) Bethenny’s negotiations will involve a contractual stipulation that she will not film with Kelly. If they want her, they’ll agree. After all, Danielle filmed with virtually no other HWs for a full season. Kelly can obsess from afar!

  63. Wall St Lady says:

I was just updating the Trustee. When I read about Trasha’s tweet

@WSL_ This is one of the best comments:

“Meanwhile, out in the Bermuda Triangle, Hurricane Danielle, downgraded to a tropical storm, is expected to intensify. According to meteorologists Hurricane Danielle isn’t expected to hit landfall. If you could rank Danielle Staub, would Danielle be classified as a Tropical Storm, Hurricane, or, a Tropical Depression?”

    • Sha2000 says:

She flipped him like a table!

  64. Squirrels says:

Look, if Bethenny chooses to come back to RHONY, it is for branding purposes. She wouldn’t risk a face off the likes of Caroline/Danielle with Kelly, nor Jill. Therefore I’m in the camp of, don’t come back as a housewife. Come back in cameos and irritate the hell out of jill and kelly, the no name no brain (in that order) wanna be’s.

    • Pat Johnson says:

Just chalk it up to my unceasing cynicism. Just waiting for “Baby Bryn Takes on Manhattan” to start filming before I throw myself overboard.

    • dumberries says:

I agree branding would be a prime motivator. But, also money and security. If she makes some decent bucks for guest spots (of her control), it will allow her to see if her own show is successful in its second season before cutting off her HW security.

    • Scorpiosue1102 says:

Bethenny seems to be a very “in order” type of person. I would not be surprised if in Bethenny’s mind she’s thinking stable future i.e. college fund for Bryn, $ in comparison to hours worked, and out of any of the housewives she probably has the most power/clout so she may be able to film with who she wants. If she doesn’t have to film with Jill or Kelly she’ll be in.

      • Squirrels says:

She doesn’t need one red cent. What she does next will be because she choses to.

        • Quincy IL says:

She has Jason as a sounding board. She is not alone. Do it for the exposure and make money now. Bank it…for the future.

        • Scorpiosue1102 says:

That is true, but Bethenny is the one with the upper hand. If she can film and not interact with Jill or Kelly then more power to her. I hope she takes all the Bravo/Shedd money that she wants.

  65. cusi77 says:

If Bethenney comes back to RHONY I won’t stop watching it… but I am going to have a tiny bit less respect for her…

    • LynnNChicago says:

Cusi, I think that if Bethenny makes some guest appearances on RHONY, it is probably because Bravo begged her to in order to keep people watching and keep ratings up. Bravo has been good to her so she’ll do it for them IMHO

      • dumberries says:

I trust her judgement. There are probably many factors to weigh. I believe she is not just looking for fame, she is legitimately trying to offer quality long standing products under her brand. That means she needs to keep the brand name in the forefront and she needs to reinvest in the business to make it grow. Can’t just offer a successful initial release, bank the proceeds, and consider yourself set for a life. If she makes a mistake, she can change strategy and regroup; like she did in her friendship with Zarin. JMO.

        • dumberries says:

And, also agree that Bethenny would consider her relationship with Bravo in making the decision….

      • cusi77 says:

Thanks for the answer Lynn! That makes more sense, since She has stated that it is not good to stay too long in the party (just paraphrasing) or to Bryn is so pure that She doesn’t want to expose her to toxic people, or Jason not liking her friendship with JZ… and on and on… I found those statements valid enough to not going back… Thinking that “enough” (She is successful $$$$) is not enough makes me feel disappointed… BUT if Bethenny will do some appearances in RHONY and not submit her family to the DRAMA QUEEN’s jealousy is OK for me.

  66. Adgirl says:

Flipping Out: I adore Jeff, but this season is bogged down. Seems that Bravo needed footage so they showed us Zoila having lunch with Trace and Jett (was that last week?). No one had anything to talk about over lunch.

Jenny has had one foot out of the show for a long time. She is pursuing her voice over and acting work which is why the new girl is on. Remember Jeff got this show because Jenny and her ex-husband Chris were shopping a reality show and they filmed a test working at Jeff’s? Jeff was so weird he was offered a show instead of them.
As much as I like Zoila, I think the house cleaning & telanova could be the slowest part of this show now. It was fun when she started speaking up to Jeff . He clearly loves her but I think she is bored out of her mind.

  67. boston02127 says:

  68. IHJZ2 says:

Did anyone see that on the finale of The Next Design Star on HGTV, one of the contestants (the winner) went shopping at Zarin Fabrics. Thank goodness Jill did NOT mangae to get her face on camera.

    • NYCDiva says:

I did see that and was delighted that JZ didn’t get any camera time. I am sure she tried! I also run with a fabulous crowd in NYC and have to tell you that we all HATE JILL ZARIN! What we usually say when her name comes up is Jill who?!?!?!?!?!

  69. IHJZ2 says:

Also had to report that I finally got to watch Bethanny Getting Married? and I absolutely loved it. I laughed and cried – it is the best Bravo show by far. I like her and her posse even more now and look forward to seeing her back on RHONYC and on her own show. She definately makes good TV.

  70. CdnFillie says:

Our culture is such that most of the world think we’re a passive or “Laisser fair” (which is French for who gives a fuck) kind of society, and rightly so. Classic example, we just had a rare murder in our fair city…the culprit being a Detroit thug who smuggled a gun across our fair border and shot someone after a bar night. His punishment…he was acquitted because he said he felt threatened being black in a predominantly white neighbourhood. Can’t figure that out…guns are illegal in Canada and he smuggled it across, that alone should have earned him some jail time, but whatever…Que sera sera… (Can you tell I’m French LOL)? I’m just hoping the karma train is gonna get him in the long run.

    • Squirrels says:

Don’t you dare take a shot without me! Of course I suspect Kat will drink us both under the table. Still, I’ll grab her on as a partner, then take Quincy and Boston on, just for the grins, giggles and a cab ride back to my hotel!

    • Had Enough! says:

I appreciate your point of view, but here’s how it adds up for me: I started watching these shows as a way to distract myself from the petty stress in my own life and the very serious problems of our country and our world. They took my mind off of all that. Not as good as L&O (which is like a narcotic for me) but good enough that for an hour or so, I wasn’t worrying myself sick over things that would be resolved the next day or things I couldn’t do anything about. I sometimes catch early episodes of OC or NY and I’m amazed at how different they were. I still didn’t like these people, but it was just as you say- they didn’t upset me. They were annoying but in an interesting way, not in a distressing way.

Then they turned toxic. They were no longer entertaining. People often use the term train wreck in conjunction with these shows, and that’s pretty much how I see it. It is just one horror story after another. Some of these people are really truly terrible people. And I can’t help but be really upset about the grifters who treated their tenants terribly (slumlord Joe Giudice), cheated honest people, and helped to wreck our economy, causing a world of hurt for so many people. Her shrieking and the shrieking of those horrible kids – just annoying. But their dishonesty hurt a lot of people.

I found myself literally suffering through the shows so I could enjoy Richard Lawson (effing GENIUS), Jessica Pressler, David Gilmore (effing GENIUS), Mickey Mouth, B-side, RealCity, and of course I HATE JILL ZARIN most of all. You people are the best. I am going to give it a try- reading the blogs without watching the shows.

      • cdnfillie58 says:

I guess my point in all this…I’m not going to let people I will NEVER meet or want to in my life upset me and ruin my day. I’m not naive enough to think that people like JZ, and Kookoo, and Guidices only exist on TV…as for Ashley…well let’s just say my daughter came a close second for a while but that was when she was 14 not 19. Actually, I’m treating all these shows as a learning experience, as in how not to be so obnoxious and immoral to a point where someone would name a blog after me 😛
There’s is absolutely nothing anyone can do to change another’s behaviour, that’s up to them and their moral compass. If they want an audience to watch while they make fools of themselves, that’s their choice too. I don’t think they chose to be on TV so we can teach them how NOT to behave. Tell you the truth Bravo (no different than any other company) is simply doing what it needs to survive and make the $$$ … which is to provide these idiots with a venue to showcase their flaws for a society that seems to thrive on watching other peoples prattfalls and train wrecks. I choose to consider it for entertainment purposes only … have a great day everyone

    • Tracey says:

      Hi gang,

Just my two cents worth on the ‘why do (sometimes) feel personally involved with these folks?’. For me, the greatest books are based on characters. And the best characters can be archetypes. Doesn’t Scarlett O’Hara seem like a real person? Wouldn’t you love to meet her? Or be a fly on the wall when she walks into a room? That’s a great character, a classic. Imagine watching Scarlett on TV every week in her real (???) life. That’s what we have here, (sometimes) great characters acting our their ‘book’ every week.

Canada , thanks for sharing ; I couldn’t agree more.
Only one point I have to make. Our criminal system teeters on possible injustice because reality “stars” dazzle fans & judges who then condone criminal acts.
I take it personally when our national security is breached & police escort criminals thinking they r “stars” (who also stiff & misrepresent to any they can take advantage of).
I am also angry when a NJ couple can stiff $11milion dollars of goods & services & then lie in court only to get caught by spending $60 000 on curtains (where was ill Zarrin).
Any way it makes me sick that both these couples have fans.
I have seen them come to full restaurants & get celebrity treatment complete w/ fans getting pictures & it breaks my heart that the real world celebrates them (pass me the trash can !)
So I am doing everything I can.

Have you ever heard the expression “stepped in sh*t?” It means you fell into something really good. I never heard it until some of my Italian friends said it in NJ. I’ve stepped in some pretty nasty sh*t over the years. The best one was in India, soon after getting married to my husband over there. We were visiting friends, & I stepped right into one on the street…they were so relieved when I started laughing! A quick clean up with a bucket of water, & it was all good. A few years later, my in-laws were visiting us (mid-western state known for corn & pigs). My dad thought it would be a good idea for them to visit a dairy farm…well, when we were in the barn, with cows on both sides ready to milk, and those cows started to raise their tails, I high-tailed it outta there, expecting the in-laws to follow me! Ha, no they didn’t, and got a little sprayed. My MIL’s gorgeous sari got the worst of it. She took it quite well, saying in her language (hub translated later for me) “what will they do to us next?”

  77. Wall St Lady says:

I think I am so excited to see Trasha make a fool of herself tomorrow on the Today show I am not sleepy.

    http://absurdtosublime.net/2010/08/23/wanna-get-married-at-jeana-keoughs-house/

I wondered how Jeanna Keough can rent her house for weddings too. Usually, in residential areas, you can’t have businesse. I know that Vicki lives near Jeana and she originally had her business office in her home, so maybe the rules in California allow this. I can just imagine how many cars it takes to for 250 party guests. It must fill the streets when the weddings take place.

  83. Quincy IL says:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1306153/Real-Housewives-New-Jersey-star-Teresa-Guidice-afford-fake-jewels.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

According to RadarOnline, Teresa is claiming all her ‘real’ jewellery -apart from her wedding band – was stolen.
‘My jewellery got stolen a couple years ago at our house in Lincoln Park…we had a break-in. So unfortunately, a lot of – all my jewellery got stolen there,’ she says.

‘It’s all costume jewellery… and if you look at what I wear, it’s all costume jewellery.’

OK, the real jewelry was stolen. Could some reporter please find the police report and the insurance claim on this major theft? No one would have a robbery with the loss of jewels without a telephone call to the police, correct?

First Amendent…I have an opinion…alert…. I am guessing that the jewels are safe somewhere. I don’t believe Teresa or Joe when it comes to money.

  84. Wall St Lady says:

According to a post up stream ,Trasha was asked by the trustee what the insurance claim was ? Trasha said : $20 ooo. The trustee said I have an insurance claim here & it says $120 000. She should be toast !!!

Trasha is so stupid she probably thinks she was invited to b on the Today Show cuz she if

GET READY ,WNBC 8- 10 unless
DUMB DUMB can’t tell time since her watch is in Italian.

  90. Wall St Lady says:

Forgive me if I am obsessing but I am not over missing my friend Kathie Lee’s interview of Trasha ;none did a recap.
Its not too late & would be appreciated.

  91. Wall St Lady says:

Today is doing a story on the rise in drunk driving in the Us. The report there is a zero tolerance. Toooo bad the famous NJ traffic judge didn’t hear about the zero tolerance thing!
Also too bad the today producer on the story didn’t realize he could have had a “two fer” &
We could have had an additional laugh at Juicy as he explained he wasn’t drunk it’s just those “mean girl” trees just jumped in front of his car !

Later, while discussing the “Real Housewives” reunion show to air next week, Staub added fuel to the rumor fire that she will be returning to reality TV sometime soon.

“There will be shockers leaving you wanting more – of me,” she said.

    • (copied from article)Ed. Note: When we spoke last Friday, contracts hadn’t yet been issued to any of the New York ladies. Bensimon told us “if Bravo wants me back, I’d do it. Definitely.” Tuesday morning, Bensimon exclusively confirmed to Fancast she’d received an offer Monday to rejoin. “Yes, they’re sending a contract. I can’t confirm I’m fully on-board, though, until we’ve finalized signing the contracts,” she said.]/

    • Kat says:

      Also from the article:
Fancast: What about the Virgin Island’s episode? Some people thought you had a meltdown, some were convinced you were acting…
Kelly: It’s not an act at all. When we were in the Virgin Islands, things happened that I didn’t like. So I responded, honestly and authentically. If I don’t like something and I’m being pushed, I think it’s important to respond. I could’ve easily walked away, left the scene. I could’ve even left the island. Just gotten on an airplane and left. But it’s my job to be honest and authentic and if you don’t like that, that’s not my problem. That’s yours.

The article also includes a link to a slideshow, “The Curse of the Housewives”.

    • WindyCityWondering says:

Spin offs are reserved for bravo stars that have something interesting to offer to viewers, have a large positive and vocal fan base, and are authentic, real and believeable. Poor Kelly doesn’t have any of the above.

      • Anitabee says:

Agreed. Kelly will never have her own show. She has nothing to offer.

Damn, even as a former model you would think she would have some fashion style to offer – but no, not even that.

Her latest twits about appearing on The Today Show… LOL – at least mentions being on wtih Caroline this time. I think I’ll sleep in 🙂

Going to be on the Today Show with Caroline this morning on channel 4…
about 3 hours ago via mobile web

We will be on 7:20 am sunday morning on the today show…

  100. By the way-and Lynn please delete this if you want to.
I’m afraid to say anything about this, but it looks like some horrible know-nothing witch is blackmailing Lynn in the worst way.
The extortionist is making demands, about this blog, and using a friend of Lynn’s as a hostage basically.
If the person who is doing this is reading this, you are evil and everyone knows that you edit and delete comments, (or don’t let them show at all), that people leave on your blog.
You might think that you’re smart, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Jill Zarin does NOT control the www.
If you succeed in forcing Lynn to do what you want, I will personally make it my business to show you what I mean.

    • Had Enough! says:

WHAT? Lynn has done nothing wrong, so what could anyone possibly blackmail her about?

      • OK-I really don’t know everything. I probably shouldn’t say anything, but it makes me MAD.
There is a person who has caused trouble here before.
The same person who leaves nasty comments about this blog all-over. And wrote mean nasty things about Alex .
Now they are demanding that Lynn makes changes and they did something horrible, (I didn’t even look at what they did), to one of Lynn’s friends, and they are blackmailing Lynn to, I think, take the ugly photo of Jill off this site, and OTHER things.
I can’t help it I drank too much coffee this am, I can’t just say nothing even though that is probably better.

        • Olivia says:

How could anyone hold Lynn’s friend “hostage”?

        • viki55 says:

?? Lynn needs to make changes or what? What sort of blackmail? Are you kidding?

        • Scorpiosue1102 says:

I sure hope that Lynn and her friend are getting the authorities involved then. This is what I found of USLegal site:

Blackmail has been defined in the broad sense to mean “compelling someone to act against their will or gaining or attempting to gain something of value.” Courts vary on interpreting what “something of value” includes, but it is not necessarily a money payment in all cases.

State laws vary, but the following is an example of a state blackmail statute:

          “21-3428. Blackmail.

Blackmail is gaining or attempting to gain anything of value or compelling another to act against such person’s will, by threatening to communicate accusations or statements about any person that would subject such person or any other person to public ridicule, contempt or degradation.

Blackmail is a severity level 7, nonperson felony

        • Had Enough! says:

Well it is obvious from your description who the person is who made nasty comments here and elsewhere but she has no power to make Lynn do anything. And what on earth could she possibly have to do with Jill Zarin? There have been issues with photos before – probably copyright issues – but that isn’t blackmail. If you hold a copyright, you have every right to require someone to stop using your copyrighted material. That wouldn’t be blackmail.

Reading between the lines is risky, but I am gathering that some representatives of JZ, possibly legal representatives, have sent a “rattle her cage” letter to Lynn hoping to scare her into something, and the fact that it came from a lawyer might be read as implying legal action. Trust me. Lawyers do that all the time. They know it rattles people. In fact, people actually pay lawyers to write letters like that all the time, knowing the effect it has on the recipient, even if they actually have no intention of filing suit and even if the lawyer has told them they probably don’t have a cause of action or a claim that is likely to prevail in court. Nothing Lynn has done has harmed Jill Zarin in anyway that is legally actionable.

        • MickeyMouth says:

Attention is air for some people. It really is best to ignore and not drive traffic to their site.

        • WindyCityWondering says:

Judging by the infrequency of trolls, IMO that person who is speading nastiness about Lynn or this blog isn’t likely to be considered exactly sane when making comments on other blogs…..Lynn is wise enough to know what is going on and what she will do or not do about this hatemonger.

    • viki55 says:

What is the name of this “other” blog where the owner deletes comments?

      • Sorry I will never mention that person’s name. I’m sorry to even bring this up.
Part II in the laws posted above is exactly what that person is doing/trying to do.
They attacked another blogger personally, (not physically), & said, I think that they will back-off of that person if Lynn does what they want.
They have made threats before. They are jealous of Lynn & claim to object to the word “hate”, and ugly photos of Jill being posted.
From what I can tell, Zarin is not affiliated with that person but they claim to be acting on behalf of Jill.

        • Olivia says:

Then the easiest solution would be for that targeted person to remove themselves from that site. No one is forcing anyone to post or comment anywhere unless I have missed something in the translation.

I think it goes something like “don’t like the heat, get out of the kitchen”. If someone is being “abused” or “held hostage” there is no reason to remain on that blog.

          Simple.

          • ha ha-No, sorry this is so confusing. The “nasty” person wrote something personal, mean, about another blogger.
And I think that this “nasty” person said that they will delete it if Lynn caves-into demands.

        • Had Enough! says:

They wrote something nasty about another blogger? Sticks and stones may break my bones…

I’ve also noticed that the nasty comments by the person I think you are talking about are often deleted by the blog owners. I don’t know where these nasty comments about Lynn’s friend are being posted but it seems to me that step one would be to contact the blog owner and ask that they be deleted.

    • Kat says:

Lynn has every legal right to post her opinions and her blog. I believe wordpress addresses the legal issues or links to the material as I read quite a bit of it.
These Bravo “celebrities” are public personalities period. Parody and opinions and fact gathering are not illegal.
The PR people get nasty and play nasty in my opinion.
If JZ isn’t flattered by our attention she should learn manners and civility for her on camera appearances.
      Grrr….

…sigh… something is just wrong with well…SOMETHING! this country, our society, our SEC whatever, that didn’t pick up on this

  104. WindyCityWondering says:

Bravo rotates the franchises on a regular basis – it is nice to see RHONY so we can remember what we truly don’t like about certain ladies. Watching Jill interact with Alex knowing what we know now is fun, Kelly’s fantasy world and her perception of herself is interesting as is Bethenny’s growing concern that something is just not right with that lunatic.

  106. cdnfillie58 says:

    hmmm..where did I go…I just posted and it’s not here :<

  107. Wall St Lady says:

The problem w/ a nasty letter is you can’t just ignore it. You have to write an equally strong letter back & that costs money. Trust me I know about responding particularly when a competitor claims slander. In ill’s case the claim could be that “I Hate ill” is hurting Miss fat a$$’s
brand. I have spent $$$ w/ far more stupid claims. It was very upsetting to me. On top of that most lawyers tell u to concede cuz the fool may cause u to incur more $$$ in court even if it a slam dunk that Lynn would win. It ends up that the richest person wins not the righteous !
I won all my cases but it cost more $$ than I would admit but we were determined to protect our reputation at any cost. And I now say “I HATE LAWYERS” (don’t take offense only lawyers involved w/ my cases)

    • Kat says:

I think eff.org might help regarding issues related to blogging and freedom of speech.

    • Had Enough! says:

Actually you do not have to respond. You absolutely can and probably should ignore it. A letter can claim anything the writer wants to claim. Unless and until a lawsuit is filed, it is just a threat and nothing more. If you feel that person has a legitimate claim, then you can simply do as they ask. If you feel that there is no legitimate claim, do nothing. Yes, before you make that decision, you might want to contact an attorney. But there is no reason you have to respond directly to the letter. Also, “lawyer’s letters” are fairly cheap to come by, especially in this day and age with so many unemployed lawyers and firms desperate for clients and business.

Jill Zarin would have a very tough time proving that she lost money due to anything Lynn has done. I suppose if Bravo said “we are not extending an offer to Jill Zarin because of Lynn Hudson’s blog” that would be a basis for a claim. But that is not going to happen because they apparently they did make her an offer. Plus, if anything, all this endless attention – negative or positive – seems to be keeping JZ in the spotlight, which probably enhanced her chances of getting an offer. As many have hypothesized, Bravo does not care if it is good press or bad press. All press is good. PR101. So if anything, she and her trained Sasquatch should write Lynn a thank-you note. I can readily imagine people clicking over to Zarin Fabrics out of curiosity generated by the comments here. Just as I imagine people clicking out of curiosity generated by the nasty comments posted about Lynn on other blogs. They stop in, like what they see, and hang around and post (or buy, in the case of Zarin Fabrics).

But note that Housewifehater is not saying that there was a communication from a lawyer. From what I am piecing together, it was a nasty person who wrote something nasty about a friend of Lynn’s. Said person is claiming – probably falsely – to be acting on behalf of Jill Zarin. Further, if the nasty person has already done this nasty thing, hard to understand what more she could do to “blackmail” Lynn. Once you’ve already done what you threatened to do, there isn’t much leverage left to the threat. If this person is who I think it is, she is not an attorney and couldn’t file a lawsuit on behalf of Jill Zarin even if she was somehow speaking for Jill Zarin.

  110. Adgirl says:

@ Wall St Lady. My family has been the target of TWO lawsuits by a crazy grifter family. You are sooo right. Just defending yourself from crazys is very expensive. That’s the whole idea by the suing attorney. Litigation costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and is uncertain so they are expecting you will settle for $150K. Then they get a nice bundle for 40 hours of “work”. All the work and expense is on the defendant.

If Lynn is sued we’ll raise money for her!!!

PS – we didn’t give in, but it basically BK’d us. No cash left and ruined our business. Run away from crazy people.

    • Had Enough! says:

The federal courts and nearly every state have court rules that protect litigants from lawsuits that are baseless in law, fact, or both. The attorneys who file lawsuits must have a good faith basis to believe that there is valid cause of action given the specific facts. If they do not, they face sanctions – not just payment of the attorneys fees and costs of the defendant. They are also likely to face disciplinary action from the bar, which could jeopardize their license to continue practicing law.

If the lawsuits brought against you and your family were of this nature, your attorney should at least have attempted to file what is known in the federal courts as a Rule 11 motion.

And always, always have adequate insurance, which not only protects you against the judgments in most cases, but also pays for an attorney.

      • Adgirl says:

In our case (and most others) if there is a shred of evidence the suit will go forward. To file a malicious prosecution suit in CA you have to go all the way through court, win and then win the appeal. Probably $250K. In our case the plaintiffs had “evidence” we did something – but they “forgot” to tell their atty that they didn’t pay us for the product. At any rate. Plaintiffs were/are broke and there was nothing to be gotten from them if we prevailed in court. Cases were dropped prior to depositions but still cost us hundreds of thousands in atty fees. Assholes.

    • Had Enough! says:

Right. If you get a letter pertaining to violations of security regs, that is almost certainly coming from the SEC. You NEVER ignore a letter from a federal regulatory agency. Now they, on the other hand, ignore communications from the public all the time. Harry Markopolos handed it to the SEC on a silver platter and they wouldn’t listen.

Wish Elizabeth Warren or Sheila Bair had been heading the SEC back then. The hammer would have fallen on Madoff long ago, perhaps before he had the opportunity to do so much damage.
