I Hate Jill Zarin Teresa Giudice/Patti Stanger September 18, 2010

Fantastic news, Joe Giudice will be paying for his crimes, he was recently caught driving again on a suspended license. You will recall that his minimal punishment included revoking his driver’s license for a reduced time of 9 months rather than the original 12 months. Joe seems to think that rules don’t apply to the father of four, he will now leave his wife and daughters for 10-days starting sometime next week to sit in jail. This could be like a spa get-away for Giudice, no twirling pizza dough or listening to screaming children, just 10-days of R&R. Keep on driving Joe, maybe eventually you’ll get the punishment you deserved for drinking and driving.

Luckily Teresa, who does all her own cooking, cleaning and caring for her children still has her parents living on site to help out with the kids while Joe’s gone. Hopefully they can pick up the slack of the endless time and effort Joe puts into raising his daughters. Oops, did I contradict myself?

Radar Online broke the story reporting that the most recent arrest and conviction were kept under wraps from the press by having a different name on the court records, luckily Teresa slammed RadarOnline on Twitter earlier in the day ensuring that Radar will slant every Giudice story to the negative. Nice work Teresa!

@Teresa_Giudice: I never look at radaronline. Crappy site crashes my computer. 🙂 xx

Everyone’s favorite matchmaker, Patti Stanger will be returning to Bravo soon and I thought you might all enjoy some of her pearls of wisdom. (yes, this is sarcasm)

@pattistanger: Men fall in love through their eyes, women fall in love through their ears.
@pattistanger: Score some points…take your man to a “guy” concert. Eminem, Blink 182, KISS
@pattistanger: Four phases of a relationship: Honeymoon, Discern & decide, Negotiation, and Engagement.
@pattistanger: Always be completely honest when online dating. (And if you are looking for a good dating site, try http://www.psxoxo.com) ♡
@pattistanger: Smart women assess the buyer without wasting any more time than necessary.
@pattistanger: You can’t change a shark into a dolphin when it gets caught in your net.
@pattistanger: Bars and clubs: Men go there to hook up, not to find a wife.
@pattistanger: You can’t fix a guy. If he’s got too many issues, he’ll always have another problem.
@pattistanger: Cruise Ships: Single men do not go on cruises. They go with their wife, girlfriend or mother.
@pattistanger: If you can’t buy me dinner then you can’t ride this ride…stay alone on your bike and peddle on by!
@pattistanger: Taking a poll: Need a cool place in LA to hit this weekend where 40 year old hot women can attract 40 year old hot men…any ideas?

Yes, you read that right, the expert, professional matchmaker is asking people on Twitter where to go in Los Angeles (her hometown) to meet hot men. She also instructs single women that bars and clubs are not a good place to meet men who are looking for long term relationships, I think maybe Bethenny and Jason would beg to differ. I think the real thing is better than psycho Patti’s opinion.

As we saw last season, Patti announced that she was engaged, showed off a heart shaped diamond and even met with and abused wedding planners all season long. About a year after Patti announced her engagement (yet only about a month after it appeared on air) she was a guest with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. When Andy asked her about a wedding date she exclaimed, “wow, no rush! We just got engaged!” Apparently Patti thinks that viewers are stupid and think that the engagement announcement on her miserable show as live, we all know it was filmed almost a year ago so no, Patti, you did not “just” get engaged.

After being engaged to this man who she claims to have been dating for several years, Patti announced that the engagement was dissolved. Official story, this man didn’t want children and Patti does. There are so many things wrong with this entire situation, I don’t know where to begin.

Having children at Patti’s age, while possible, is highly dangerous and unlikely. Patti’s supposedly been dating this man for several years, she only now learned that he does not want children?

I firmly believe that because Stanger was taking so much heat for being a matchmaker and being single, she somehow talked this man into posing as her fiancé for a period of one year (possibly for an exchange of cash) in order to improve her image and get people off her back about being single.

Patti flashed that ring in the faces of more people on her show last season than a strobe light in a disco, she taunted single women with this ring, she shoved it into the faces of clients trying to make a point that she was “the expert” at finding love and how to treat women.

While some may call Stanger “direct”, I call her a full on bitch who has to make others feel inferior in order to make herself feel superior. Moving her show from Los Angeles to New York City doesn’t seem to have made any difference at all, she still demeans the ladies and terrorizes her “clients”.

I strongly question her “success” rate and obviously someone had to have challenged her “98% success rate” that she claimed for the first few seasons of her show because it has now changed to “a very high success rate”. If this woman had any success’s at all, we typically see them in a follow up, for example there was a couple who were actually both millionaire clients and rather than choosing someone that Patti picked for them, they chose each other. There as one follow up with this couple and they were still long distance dating but still didn’t seem all that serious, it appears as though they just wanted to be on the show again.

Patti talks about them in this interview, again the only success that she can point to and it was her two clients finding each other by chance, not because Patti connected them:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLcojuIip48

Without any other memorable “successes” that we have been privy to, my guess is her success rate is merely that she snagged a show on Bravo and has duped the producers into thinking she actually knows what she is doing.

Does anyone remember during Patti’s first few seasons how she berated anyone who would even consider on line dating, she called it ridiculous and a horrible new “trend” in dating, she said it was impersonal and claimed to know that it had a horrible success rate. Well, guess who now has their very own on line dating site? You guessed it, Patti Stanger! This woman is a hypocrite!
For just $24.99 per month, you too can join Stanger’s dating site (or $12.99 if you commit to 6-months). I wonder if it costs extra to have her abuse and berate you just for good measure?

Stanger also offers a service in which you can call her and she’ll chat with you about your relationship issues at $90 for 30 minutes of her valuable time, she will school you on what you’re doing wrong. Her two assistants are also available for phone consultations at a reduced rate.

We also know that the gentlemen don’t pay Patti’s outrageous $10,000 fee to use her services, Bravo picks up the tab for that, I can only assume that these millionaires (if they really are in fact wealthy men) simply want to be on television. Why else would they consider being abused by this horrible woman?

Patti Stanger Trivia: Did you know Anna Nicole Smith went on a date setup by The Millionaires Club? She dated Claude Dauman on The Anna Nicole Show. (and we know how that whole story ended)

If her attitude on the show isn’t bad enough, she is videotaped having lunch with RHOA’s Kim Zolciak using disgustingly foul language and while talking on the phone with RHONY’s Jill Zarin, she is berating and verbally abusing Jill’s former friend, Bethenny Frankel. Take a look:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFSywO8ViuY

Is this the woman you want to handle your love life? Oh and apparently she’s an expert in making television pilots and producing a reality show.

If that isn’t bad enough, an audio recording of Stanger verbally abusing a stylist has also been released to the public. Take a listen:

http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2010/08/30/2010-08-30_millionaire_matchmaker_patti_stanger_lashes_out_at_stylist.html

Anyone who is looking for a blog about this upcoming season of Millionaire Matchmaker will have to go elsewhere, I’m sorry, I love you all but asking me to watch this woman is just cruel.

  3. Tootsie says:

Uncouth, scaggy, classless, brain dead, constipation of her brain, motor mouth, shit for brains, skank, snarky, jealous……..

Come on gang, I know there are more descriptive adjectives for Pathetic Patty, help me out here.

  4. Noelle says:

Is it just me or is Patti sounding an awful lot like Kelly and her pearls of wisdom!?!
    Oy…

  5. Rabble Rouser says:

I can’t stand Patti, her ego is writing checks her looks and brain can’t cash.

  6. Wall St Lady says:

    Yikes
u gals r going to get me in trouble !
Not really I could care less.

BTW he has a twin brother who
    I ADORE.
I was his guest the night he met his current wife too. She is from a very wealthy family & didn’t marry his money. After 3 unsuccessful marriages they r very happy. They have the same birthday.
Funny I witnessed both bro’s 1st meeting of their current wives.

    • Ellabean says:

wsl – always love your posts – always intriguing. I suspect many feel the same here !

Just a small request since you can’t “reply” to previous posts directly by using your Black Berry….and you reply down thread….

….would you mind prefacing your posts with some sort of a primer for us like “Re: x-y-z subject from previous thread…” or something like that ???

Thanks much. xxoo to you !

    • Quincy IL says:

I can’t imagine wanting to wait on her huband like that. LOL… Mine loves that service too. He gets coffee and something in bed everyday. He’s spoiled.

  7. error404 says:

the whole show is a train wreck! when did reality tv become a bad convention of cheesy salesmen shilling bad product?

    • dumberries says:

Good question. Maybe the schilling took off when Bravo developed contracts that paid their reality “stars” very little in salary and emphasized how much the exposure could pay off. Low salaries and production costs, incentive for the cast to get as much publicity as possible and capitalize on it with product offerings, a percentage of all product revenues, and increasing ratings = big win for Bravo. I think the viewers are getting tired of it and wonder how long the formula will pay off…

  8. Had Enough! says:

When Bravo, a little-watched arts network, ran Queer Eye and ratings hit 3.5 million viewers. They handed the network over to Andy Cohen and that was that. They keep putting this crap on and we keep watching it…

    • Rabble Rouser says:

I remember the Bravo Network in Canada being known as credible cultural media new and entertainment source. Andy’s version is much more of a tabloid approach.

  9. jane says:

patti who? oh i know i know the great madam of bravo ,God save us all!

  10. dumberries says:

Thanks for the new blog Lynn! Patti Stanger is so foul and completely unqualified.

    Follow-up from the previous blog:
A couple of posters asked if Caroline’s testimony for Danielle’s ex would be considered hearsay. It would not because Caroline recounted what Danielle said in her physical presence (she didn’t testify to something told to her by a third party; she heard it directly). Part of the deposition doc is attached. It indicates that Danielle made the defamatory statements during the 9 hours of taping last year’s reunion. Caroline was called to summarize what was said. I don’t know whether the ex also has the tapes themselves.

    http://www.radaronline.com/sites/radaronline.com/files/manzoDEPO.pdf

    • Had Enough! says:

What I don’t get is why Maher brought the suit. The specific things she allegedly said weren’t printed in People. She allegedly told the reporter and also said them at the reunion, or she said them at the reunion and someone there told the reporter. But in any case, no one would have known had Maher not filed the suit.

But aside from the liability issue, what is the point? What does this woman have by way of assets? The house is worth bupkes, may be underwater, will probably be foreclosed upon. She no longer has the Bravo income, not that it was much to begin with. She has that vehicle and child support. I doubt she bought that condo at the Watermark – they run about 800k and up. She is probably renting.

So what exactly does he think he is going to get IF he wins? These cases are usually brought on a contingency basis (the lawyer gets a % of the jury award), not hourly, but the lawyers don’t generally investigate the potential for collecting before bringing suit.

      • dumberries says:

I believe that some of the comments Danielle made about her ex were actually televised when the season 1 reunion was aired. They were also included in her Naked Truth book. That’s probably her ex’s justification for filing a defamation suit. Everyone involved (including Caroline) has questionable and shady motives, imo. Maybe he just wants to set the record straight if her claims about him were false; they were very harsh. Maybe Caroline helped encouraged him to file the suit in retaliation. Caroline claimed to be a reluctant witness that was dragged into Danielle’s mess. I think that’s total bs. She went above and beyond in her testimony, not only recounting what she heard, but going further and explaining how her personal experiences with Danielle showed her to be a master manipulator and delusional liar. That was a big FU to Danielle and supportive of her ex’s claims about Danielle’s character. Or, perhaps he believes she will be making some bucks in the future and he wants a cut. I don’t trust anyone’s motives when it comes to this cast of characters…

        • cyotteeflower says:

Thank you!I have been attacked mercilessly elsewhere pointing this out.Caroline didn’t get dragged into Danielle’s life she flew her whole family 100’s of miles, wined ,dined and happily took photos! And what about Caroline saying repeatedly that she never did anything to Danielle.I’d say this is a BIG something. The depo was 7/22.When was the filming of the reunion?
I despise hypocrites and Caroline Manzo is a HUGE hypocrit!

          • Need a Hobby says:

The reunion discussed regarding the lawsuit was the Season 1 reunion.

Season 2 reunion filmed in August.

      • Scorpiosue1102 says:

From what I’ve read he had a real problem with Danielle saying that he raped her on broken glass and I would too especially if it isn’t true. Maher did admit to hitting her so he’s a dirt bag in my book, but crying rape if it didn’t happen is just as bad.

        • nathania says:

I think what he has said has invalidated his case, in essence he admits hitting her but ‘only in self-defense’. She may be delusional but he is no less delusional than she is to think any of this will be taken seriously in court since he’s admitted they had a violent relationship, that he ‘hit her but only with an open hand’ blah, blah, blah. That amounts to a he-said, she-said…the last I heard they were in mediation. I think he pretty much shot himself in the foot by admitting being guilty of what he has admitted to…I think they were ordered into mediation so probably that case is over.

          • Blue Sky says:

This lawsuit will go nowhere, IMO it’s a “he said/she said” situation. Danielle should countersue, there’s no real proof of what really happened. This lawsuit is sad really. Danielle should have known better than to have provoked Maher in her book. Guess who wins this one? The lawyers representing them! Furthermore, where would Maher & his book (& upcoming tv series ) be without Danielle being on RHONJ & her past, the book yada yada yada coming out….Maher is just another dirtbag.

        • Rabble Rouser says:

If Danielle was a known prostitute at the time she was with him, than it stands to reason he was her pimp. Even if he didn’t ‘book’ her, if they were cohabiting together he was living off the avails of prostitution.

They both were obviously also involved with the drug trade and use.

Based on that, it’s not to much of stretch for me to think he would then be capable of rape, even if it wasn’t by physical force but rather her drug or alcoholic infused inability to consent.

        • Ione says:

This man is a jail bird, attacked a bartender in a cocaine rage and a paid snitch….His type probably doesn’t think a wife can be raped. Even if she says no, he thinks, possibly, that sex is his right….they are married, she is his wife, what is she complaining about. I’ve seen that happen many times in my work career….Women needing vaginal tears stitched, rectal trauma, etc. Husbands/boyfriends would lay the blame on the wives….i.e. ” she moved!!!”, “she slapped him and made him hurt her”, etc. I’m probably biased but I would have a hard time believing him.

    • Amber...Real Wife says:

Once again Caroline proves how much she hates this woman, to the point that she would involve herself in a lawsuit that could possibly harm Danielle and her daughters financially. Maher doesn’t want an apology, he wants money and Caroline, with all the light in her eyes, is helping him. There were several people at that reunion, Andy, Jac, Theresa, where are their depositions? There are none, because they didn’t search out and befriend the ex. That was Caroline. Hateful.

      • cyotteeflower says:

Thank the Lord and pass the biscuits someone sees this bitch for what she truly is and not the sweet BS she proclaims she is!Ha!

        • boston02127 says:

@cyotteeflower–Totally agree and I hope more and more people start to realize it.

          • Rabble Rouser says:

Not only do I agree with all of you, it makes me all the more angry that Caroline had the balls to demand that Danielle drop the charges against Ashley- give how is obviously delights in making things difficult for D.

Don’t get me wrong, I would and could never be friends with someone like Danielle. I think she is way to damaged to ever form any real human connection- even with her own children. I also think she will say and do anything to get what she wants.

            I just don’t like C acting like her sh!t don’t stink.

      • Quincy IL says:

I think you have to give depositions when called upon. I imagine Caroline was notified by the court.

  11. Waxdiva says:

Watched the Stanger debacle… er show… a few times. She is rude, crude and needs numerous etiquette classes (never mind, she’s past that). I could see right through her. She is a blustery fake who uses her blusteriness (I made up that word for her) to cover up her inadequacies. When I saw her ‘fiance’ with her, I could immediately tell from their body language that he was not interested in her at all, nor was she interested in him. Maybe her mother, the second generation matchmaker, set them up. Obviously, the third generation isn’t any better than the second generation.

    • nathania says:

I have watched it quite a bit and I think that most of the men that are on her show are deserving of the treatment she hands them. Most of them seem to be sex addicted narcissists looking for a trophy wife to pull out when convenient. There have been a few good guys on there but most of the ones I have seen have made my skin crawl, and would do good to listen to her advice. The truth is though most of them are beyond hope since their money entitles them to scads of golddiggers and they just can’t understand why they aren’t attracting women with integrity when they themselves have none.

That video is very disturbing, it seems like at the beginning she calls Bethenny a c*nt if I heard it right. It is always a certain type of woman that can’t stand Bethenny, women like Jill and Luann, etc, that run in packs where there is an alpha female and all the other women around them are supposed to fall into a pecking order behind them. Bethenny is a free agent and doesn’t have time for that junior high school b.s. which apparently some of the domineering types can’t stand. It’s like her very existence is an affront to them, they are like ‘what, you mean I don’t have to play these games and I can just like, work hard, and be competent or something and succeed that way? But it’s so harrrrrrrrd to do it that way, and I am better at being a bully.’ She really outshines them every time (and those like KKB who fly through life on looks and nothing else) and holds a mirror up to them that they seemingly would rather try to destroy her than look at.

      • Quincy IL says:

I can’t think of one of the bachelors that was a kind person. They want beautiful women as trophies when they are often out of shape and ugly.

What are the women thinking when they go to date a man because he has at least one million dollars? I guess this is common if you consider that many of our housewives have done this.

Nothing on tv again tonight. I bought Jackie Warner’s book and I want to find a couple of good recipes in Bethenny’s second book before I buy the groceries. I told my husband that it’s going to be a good week for exciting dinners at our house next week. LOL… Now, I have to find something exciting for the old guy.

  12. cyotteeflower says:

WSL did you see my post to you on the meaning behind Cyotteeflower?

  13. Ione says:

Not that I would necessarily believe Danielle about her past experiences with her ex-husband, I absolutely would not believe him. He threatened a bartender with a gun in a cocaine fueled rage while stalking his girlfriend Beverly (Danielle) per the above reference!! He is a car thief, spent time in prison then becomes a paid informat which is essentially a paid snitch. And this is who Caroline et al. have lunch with while testifying? He sees/smells money. Just her word against his. Maybe those things happened and maybe they didn’t. Who knows and who cares?!!

    • Ione says:

And “had enough” I agree with you….he may think she has money from the TV show.

    • Waxdiva says:

It definitely is not his word against hers. Court documents/transcripts tell the story.

      • Had Enough! says:

Whoa! Court documents are nothing more than allegations. The testimony given in depositions are evidentiary but not necessarily the whole story. Caroline Manzo says one thing. Other witnesses may say other things. We don’t know what other depositions were taken because that doesn’t appear in the Court’s case record (depositions are taken outside the Court and would be in the record only if someone had to file a motion to compel a deposition or if parts of a deposition were quoted in a Court document). It is very possible that other depositions were taken, and it is possible that there are some that say she didn’t say these things.

Dumberries has me wondering – I think I recall hearing some of that stuff on air. But one thing is that this litigation will never set the record straight. People will aways say “oh he’s the guy who supposedly did xyz” – that stuff will now always be associated with his name, whatever the outcome of this litigation. I think he was an idiot to bring it up because even assuming she did say it, he’s just making it stick in everyone’s mind.

        • dumberries says:

Oooh, now you’ve got me wondering @Had Enough. It’s possible that Kevin Maher actually wants to keep his name in the press, defamatory or not. Good publicity for the upcoming tv show that’s supposedly been green-lighted based on his Cop Without a Badge book. Makes as much sense as anything else…

      • Ione says:

I was referring to his beating her, sexually mistreating her, etc. That is what they are disputing….not the (in)famous court case and kidnapping, plea bargaining,,,,,those are documented and no reason for him to bring a court case against Danielle. NO one really know what happens between a husband and a wife. There is his story, her story and the real story.

  14. KellitaM says:

I’ve never watched Patti. But I’m thrilled to hear about Joe! Thanks, Lynne,
for making my day! I’m wondering how Teresa will spin this.

  15. icantstandthetoxicity says:

I saw the new promo for the hosebeast’s new season on Bravo and I had to turn the channel. I watched season one and I don’t know what I was thinking. She is a mean- spirited woman. I’m surprised that people are willing to appear on her show.

  16. sydney says:

Joe’s name was kept under wraps from the press by having a different name on the court records.

****Excuse me but wouldn’t that be illegal? Those are legal documents, and as such, wouldn’t they HAVE to reflect the truth……the real name of the perp?

    • dumberries says:

@sydney, I’m really curious about how this was done too. Now that the story of his conviction and sentencing is proliferating across the entertainment websites, hoping a good investigative reporter will care enough to ferret out the details. When was he arrested? Did police pull him over for driving recklessly again or did someone tip them off that he was on the road (or was he under surveillance)? Was he alone? Did he give a false name when arrested or did the court somehow decide to provide an alias? Is there a legal protocol for assigning aliases to high profile arrests – if so, how does it work? Is he a witness for a major investigation and therefore entitled to identity protection? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

      • truelifediva says:

When Sandra Bullock divorced Jesse James no one knew about it until after the fact because the court filing was done with initials in reverse. So I guess aliases can be used as long as the court knows who the aliases really are. I would assume their lawyer asked the judge to allow this tactic to protect their privacy and the judge agreed. There was no fraud on the court regarding this situation, just the nosy public 😉

    • WindyCityWondering says:

thinking the same thing about the “name” used – wondering if the trustee knows about the various names these lowlifes have been using – smelling more hidden assets anyone???

    • Had Enough! says:

I wonder if this just means they used the name Giuseppe instead of Joe? Apparently, Giuseppe is his legal name.

  17. jean says:

Off the subject, cant you just imagine the garage sale stuff Kelly is giving up from all her super hot, authentic, real and awesome junk? You know like it must really be crap cause she looks like someone that would keep every photo, brochure etc of any and everything she was ever invited to. We already seen the gifts she gives, regifted clenses and photo album of her breakdown vi vacation. Who,besides her, wants to remember and cherish that waste of time?

    • cyotteeflower says:

Wish someone would have gone to report back!

      • vilzvet says:

I think it’s tomorrow in East Hampton? I am actually planning to go applepicking out East tomorrow but it would be the North Fork (wine country) not the South Fork which is the Hamptons.

      • SavingGrace says:

I’m sure Kiki will post an incredible amazing video of the sale….cuz she is just so authentic.

    • truelifediva says:

Remember the clip of her going thru her closet (her first season) to donate to charity with her assistant? Every frigging piece of clothing was a size small and butt ugly! And we all see what she wears when she calls the paps to photograph her catching cabs all over the city. I think The Salvation Army finally said, “Thanks, but no thanks.”

  18. Scorpiosue1102 says:

I only watched Patti’s show a couple of times before I realized that I was losing brain cells by doing so. 10x’s worse than any Housewives show.

  19. WindyCityWondering says:

Bravo exercised bad judgement in signing Patty to a multi year contract – she is so abrasive, her insight is subpar and her matchmaking skills have never been proven effective! The fact that she makes disparaging remarks about other Bravo show/casts has not been addressed either. I watched one episode and wouldn’t waste my time with this show. She is a loser!

  20. alexa rose says:

Lee Najjar, aka Big Poppa, has listed his mansion for sale. His house was featured on MTV Teen Cribs.

    http://realestate.aol.com/resale-homes/490_Paces_Ferry_Rd-Atlanta-GA-30305/mls-48!3967771/1.us3wide-a_48!3967771

I wonder if he is moving in with Kim.

    • alexa rose says:

For some reason, clicking the link will not take you directly to the site..but if you copy|paste it should get you there.

      • Rabble Rouser says:

It’s been on the market for a while. But the asking price is unheard of- and out of reach- especially in today’s market.

If you look him up in various county clerks offices there are dozens of lawsuits against him at any given time for non payment. I think he probably was running the same racket as Juicy Joe.

  21. Dre says:

I don’t follow Patti on Twitter, but I have read her Twitter page a few times. I can’t believe how generic her little pearls of wisdom are. “Always be completely honest when online dating” No, really?! Is this her expertise that makes her “success rate” so high?

I really can’t stand her. However, I’ll probably watch her show just to see how even more disgusting and grotesque her behavior has become in the last year.

  22. Wall St Lady says:

    Hi Ellabean. Good idea.
    How & where have u been ?

Hi WSL ! I’ve been around – just lurking sometimes when I get to read all the threads and great posts. I do always read Lynn’s recaps though – chock full of information.

Thanks for the shout out – and understanding of my suggestion on your down thread posts. All the very best to you~

    Off Topic:

Just came back from seeing Ben Affleck in “The Town”. It was a great movie.

I’ve never been to Boston but I have always wanted to visit. Affleck looked incrediblee in this movie. Jon Hamm was very good in his FBI role. The movie is about armed robbers.

I give the movie four stars. Fellow posters you will not be disappointed!

    • Wendy says:

I’m glad to hear this was a good movie. Can’t wait to see it. Love Jon Hamm!!

    • Rabble Rouser says:

Thanks- hubby and I were just saying how we wanted to see it.

As far as Ben’s looks- he’s cute but my secrete crush is on Matt Damon. I have thought he has a wonderful sense of humor ever since him and Jimmy Kimmel have been doing the bit about him being bumped from the show.

      • SavingGrace says:

Oh yeah, Matt is Hot!!! (Great now I sound like Kelly).

I was simply surprised on how sexy Ben Affleck looked. That man is getting better with age — so not fair!

    • AZ Girl says:

Just got back from seeing “The Town”. (no a/c what better way to get out of the AZ heat). Great movie. A “must see” movie. Ben, Jon and the guy who was in Hurt Locker were fantastic. Loved the scenery. I have never been to Boston and now I would love to visit that city.

      • butterisafruit says:

The Town premiered the other night in Fenway Park, they showed the movie on The Green Monster. Everyone said it was a winner.
Come to Boston, you’ll LOVE IT.

Did u catch my above post about the movie, the Town?

What is the deal with Southie?

          • boston02127 says:

@SavingGrace–I didn’t see the movie. 95 percent of the movies shot here depict Boston/esp Southie as a violent & bad place to live and it’s not. I’ve seen about 6 different short trailers for the movie that I’ve recieved in emails but I doubt I’d go see it. But I do like Ben!

  25. Wall St Lady says:

It was mentioned up stream about Fatti :her mother, the second generation matchmaker,
Remember her mother had 3 marriages. Fattie can’t even get herself 1.
    Snark Snark !
    WSL snarking LOUDLY !

    • Quincy IL says:

She seems to be thin now. She lost something like… 30 lbs in a year by being careful. In the first season, she was heavy, but a lot of the Bravo stars lose weight after they see themselves on screen.

Ramona looked heavy compared to Cat on WWHL. You can see Cat’s bones in her upper chest. That is one thin girl. I think she smokes, but she seems not to eat like Rachel Zoe.

HD TV has really caused a rash of anorexia. If they look thin on our new TVs, they are dangerously underweight.

  26. Wall St Lady says:

Has anyone thought that the LynnFam emails to MAD

    I think so ! :). 🙂 🙂

  27. JKW says:

Saving Grace…I would go see that just for Jon Hamm. I think he is great and I love Mad Men ! What a really great show. This season seems to be even better than last.

    • Adgirl says:

I live for MM! I live in a 1960’s era mid century modern home (where I grew up) and it’s so fun to see the same stuff I own used as props.
I just ordered season 1 on Netflix to share with my mom – she’ll love it, and Jon Hamm (swoon).

      • Quincy IL says:

I have a friend in one and it’s fantastic. She owned a frame and art shop so the decorating is professional. I love her home.

    • SavingGrace says:

Actually, he is the reason I went to see it. I love Mad Men.

It is one of the best movies I have seen this year. Loved the action and storyline.

  28. Adgirl says:

Patti Stanger is a complete phony!!

    1. Not only are Stanger’s success rates and coaching skills in question, but I challenge the alleged “millionaire” status of her clients. Is she is counting the client’s real estate, high blue book of their leased vehicle, 401K and future social security payments?

    2. Don’t get me started on the mostly insipid; intellectually dim and slutty potential wives Patti invites to the get acquainted boobfest, errr, cocktail party. Who is she kidding?
There is barely a screening process other than a cattle call.
“You, with the teased blonde hair. Can you comb it and straighten it? Good. You’re in. How about you with the tattoo on your neck? Do you have a sexy turtleneck to cover it? Good. You’re in.”

    3. I don’t believe any client of Patti’s ever paid her the amount she claims (in the thousands or tens of thousands). Give me a break.

    4. And not that I care, but if she is not heterosexual, then she should be just come out with it instead of making up lies about having a fiancée.
    She is a fraud.
    Her credibility is zero!

    • dumberries says:

      Agree!!!!!!!!!!!!
No wealthy and relatively intelligent person legitimately looking for true love would ever turn to Patti Stanger. Her clients are simply people looking to get on tv. A few posters commented that Patti is a madam and a pimp; that’s pretty accurate if you ask me. Check out the brief story about 2 of the women that met Patti’s impossible standards (and whose credentials and background were completely misrepresented by Patti):
      http://www.tmz.com/2008/03/05/millionaire-matchmaker-is-the-new-heidi-fleiss/6/

    • nathania says:

what what? Patti might be, as Andy so nauseatingly put it, swimming in the lady pond? This I have never heard…

It’s strange about big-mouthed ‘broads’ like Patti, she makes me think of Madonna too…for a couple decades they have men at their feet and then suddenly it all dries up and they are alone, it makes me wonder if maybe men get tired of the controlling and think ‘if I have to have a mother I’m at least going to get one who is 27 so when she’s bossing me around it doesn’t feel like incest.

  29. DJ Loops Fruit says:

I used to enjoy Patti’s show then i saw that video clip with the ever so tastefull Kim from the Atlanta Group of housewives wonder if Patti thinks its ok to “spread your legs for married men” and i just wanted to throw up
Kim is the one thing about atlanta housewives i have always loathed and to see those two ragging on Bethenny was enough to make me realize i will never watch patti’s show again
and trust me im not the only one that feels this way
    watch her ratings plummet
watch her blame the new location
but bad taste will be the ultimate culprit

    • dumberries says:

That video was shocking and very revealing. I knew who she was and had seen snippets of her show before that youtube video was released. I didn’t have any strong feelings about her either way until I saw that video. That was Patti in real life – repulsive.

    • nathania says:

the truth is, if you have seen one of her shows you have pretty much seen them all: slimy icky self-absorbed rich guy meets golddigger, they go out once and he’s of course completely obnoxious and no matter how vacuous she attempts to be, it’s not nearly enough. She goes back to the midwest, porn, or business school, and he goes back to his strippers and hookers. The end.

  30. Wall St Lady says:

    Saving Grace
Steven Baldwin looks exactly like John Ham except he has piercing Carolina Blue (couldn’t help myself)eyes.
Steven does have tons of tattoos which I disapprove of but r easily covered for screen.
Anyway he Steven is only 42 & is as handsome as Alex was 20years ago (Alex is fat now,so am I but I am not a star )

I remember the first time I saw brother Alex on Broadway in St. Car Named Desire. He was 35 & ripped. But I had never seen a man w/so much hair back & front.
We were on the first row . Alex was sweating like a waterfall. He made a sudden turn & a big pile of sweat hit me like a storm. I screamed as if I had been molested in the dark. Even the cast hesitated w/my LOUD Yell.
Fortunately it was time for intermission & I ran to the ladies room. Yuck !

When the play ended w/bows Alex looked down & gave me a special smile.
I never met him personally but sweat & all he was gorgeous.

Again bro Steven looks like ham & I hope his acting career picks up !

    • dumberries says:

WSL, quick update in case you didn’t know.

I agree that Stephen Baldwin used to be a good looking man. These days, he’s very bloated and quite “out there”. He is pretty busy on the talk show circuit supporting Mel Gibson, baptizing Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag on reality tv, and some equally admirable activities. All the Baldwin boys, including Alec and Stephen, were once attractive with great screen presence, imo. But, they have moved from attractive bad boys to male chauvinists with questionable characters. In recent years, Alec was taped calling his teenage daughter a selfish pig (and worse) and berating her relentlessly on a phone message. Daniel Baldwin was taped propositioning a porn star while partaking in Drug Rehab (while his wife was pregnant), and a couple have been arrested for drug related charges. I no longer find anything about the Baldwin boys attractive, but must admit I find Alec to be a great dramatic and comedic actor…

    • Quincy IL says:

      Body fluids… LOL…

Alex Baldwin has some guests visiting in the Hamptons and he made a big deal about wanting them to meet Jill Zarin. I don’t think it was his idea, but he was the host so he sought her out. There was an article about this online.

When it comes to the Palm Beach crowd, Jill Zarin is really nothing. PB has the millionaire Earth shakers.

Kelly Bensimon said that they owned property on the water in Key West. My daughter, granddaughter and I walked the circumference of the island last Jan. and I didn’t see any homes that were really spectactular like the New Port, RI, houses on the water. When does she go to the house? She goes to the Fountain Bleu hotel in Miami Beach. I saw photos of her near their pool and on the ocean there. We were too late to get a spot in that hotel for the Critical Care Conference, but we had drinks and tried to figure out how they made the blue floor light up. I bet Kelly didn’t try to figure that out.

    • SavingGrace says:

So jealous. I would love to be so close to Alec. I love him on 30 Rock.

      • Quincy IL says:

He is fantastic on “30 Rock” and great on “Sat. Night Live.” I like him as an actor too. He needs to cut back on the alcohol and food though.

  31. boston02127 says:

Unless I’m overlooking it and I don’t think I am, Claud (Dina) deleted the pic of Lexi that I posted about this morning. She tweeted about the pic being a joke.

Hey Dina, Read Lynn’s blog much? Thanks for deleting her pic, it was kind of a sick thing to do to your daughter. One more thing, is your husband still wearing your cloths? Too bad you married for money and not love, you could of had your very own cloths and makeup. Not to mention a decent husbund.

    • felony stupid says:

Missed your original comment Boston…what as the pic?

      • boston02127 says:

Thanks for the info Boston! I’m super surprised her twitter fans didn’t find that oddly inappropriate.

    • OneMoreinBoston says:

wow so Miss Claudine is lurking too?

I wonder why she doesn’t devote more time to her decorating business? Remember the first season with her brother? ALL time funniest (well meant to be funny) HW line EVER:

      “rooster down! rooster down!”

Why doesn’t she do more of her charity events? and planning for others people? All she talked about was how she didn’t have time to do it all. But since she’s not in production why doesn’t she parlay her new found fame into something that she can make money for HERSELF instead of depending on a man, and a questionable one at that?

I know a lot of people here said they couldn’t stand her house, that it was overdone etc. but I kinda like that super stuffed look.

I would watch a show that she did, as long as it was her projects and not sitting around petting Grandma Wrinkles and praying to the buddha/saints.

      • Quincy IL says:

“Rooster down, rooster down” was the best moment of the two years of NJ. I still smile when I see that in my mind.

  32. I think they should give Bethanny a matchmaking show just for the fun of it.
Since Patti’s success rate is zero, it wouldn’t be hard for Bethanny to do a better job.
And she’s been married twice herself, so she does have some idea of what it takes to get a guy to “put a ring on it”.

    • emily says:

Plus a few engagements that didn’t turn into marriage, as well, right?
She definitely knows how to get and keep a man.

      • Quincy IL says:

Bethenny said that she didn’t want to marry a man for his money and because of the feast or famine early life that she experienced she wanted to have her own security. She did that and then married a man for love. I admire Bethenny.

      • JKW says:

Wendy…did you watch last nights episode ? Roger was really on with his remarks last night. I don’t think I have seen Don so frazzled…it was nice to see him acting more like a regular guy. Poor Mrs Blankensmith, I can’t believe she died….she was annoying at first but I really did get to like her. She had some great one liners.

  34. JKW says:

That made me laugh Boston. We had someone in the OR (in PA ) from Boston. We had no idea what the hell a johnny was. When she explained we were like..OH hospital gown…now we get it.

He is out there in Kirk Cameron land.

    • Ellabean says:

Yes, he has found religion – make that ‘extreme’ religion. He left one addiction for another. Often happens to people. Trade one faux feel good out for another faux feel good – especially without proper therapy or 12 step program etc. Often it’s what as known as being a ‘dry drunk’ (Glen Beck is a another example). You stop the drinking or drugging but without proper therapy – you still live with the personality of addictive behavior: narcissism, over/undercontrolling behaviors, and more.

  37. NMhousewife says:

Love your blog, Lynn, and love all the comments! I am afraid though that I have more fun reading the recap for DC than actually watching. I gave up 2 episodes ago and won’t be back for more. I will give the BH’s women a try though because of the Richard sisters. I am tired of the Atlanta ladies and Orange County and haven’t decided if I will watch those shows again. I can’t wait for NY, but all the other ladies bore me. I am glad Top Chef is over, couldn’t get too emotionally involved with this season, but did watch every episode and I am enjoying the Dessert Top Chef (whatever it is called). I haven’t been able to get much more into any other Bravo show (thintervention-can’t stand Jackie, Stanger-awful). I’ve even lost interest with Flipping Out, which makes me feel like I am all Bravo’d out.

I asked this before, but will ask again if anyone is watching The Colony on the Discovery Channel Tuesday nights. THAT I am getting addicted to. Apparently, this is season 2, but my first time watching. Now I wish Lynn would do a blog on this show. I also saw a commercial for a new reality show on A&E called something like, “Tony Danza, TEACH” which I may check out.

Anyway, thanks for letting me have my 2-cents worth. Again, I love the community here even though I don’t post very much.

    • boston02127 says:

@NMhousewife—I love The Colony. I’m hooked on it. If you have Comcast On Demand you can watch the old episodes there.

Anyone interested in the show here is a little info on it.

      (from the web)
What would you do in the wake of a global catastrophe? Even if you survived it, could you survive the aftermath?

Season Two of THE COLONY introduces viewers to a new group of volunteers with differing backgrounds, skills and personalities, to bear witness to how these colonists will survive and rebuild in a world without electricity, running water, government or outside communication. Over the course of 10 episodes, the colonists — who include a construction foreman, teacher, carpenter and auto mechanic — must work to utilize and strengthen their exploration, technology and survival skills in ways they’ve never had to before. THE COLONY features on-going commentary and input from experts in homeland security, engineering, psychology and the medical community, with expertise and insight into what the future could look like after a biological disaster.

Filmed on 10 acres of abandoned neighborhood on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, THE COLONY’S simulated environment had been left decimated by Hurricane Katrina, a naturally occurring disaster zone that was slated to be bulldozed and turned into a public park. Empty buildings, weedy streets and the backwoods are all the colonists have to work with as they scavenge essentials for survival from their surroundings while fending off threats such as wild animals and malicious outsiders.

Throughout this season, the colonists face daunting physical and emotional challenges as they attempt to survive in a world void of all the niceties they’ve ever known, including environmental dangers such as disastrous weather and indigenous wildlife.

  38. JKW says:

NM..I have only tuned in a couple times for short periods of The Colony. Most of the time it had already started and I didn’t really know what was going on. I may have to start watching that.

I think with the new season of TV shows coming on that the Bravo shows will be watched in reruns.

  39. Scorpiosue1102 says:

I just saw who is reportedly signed to be on RHONY. Her name is Cindy Barshop. She owns day spas and she started the whole “vagazzling” thing. Really?? We get a new Housewife that is infamous for starting “vagazzling”??? Right when I thought it couldn’t get any lower.

    • Whoa!!!
This is RH casting pure genius! A NYC “Dina” that bedazzles va-jay-jays instead of pumpkins and acorns. I can’t wait to see which one of the others is the first to make an appointment.

  40. emily says:

    Hi there all!
I’ve been digging around on YouTube for other videos about Stanker’s phony business and found a 3 part video from a stripper who used to be part of the Millionaire Club. She only lasted one date, and after complaining to Chelsea (that assistant) about the man she was set up with, was fired.
She outs the Club for many things we already figured: men whose cars are leased/rented and not owned, Patti lying about girls actual jobs and calling them “models” instead of strippers.
It’s long but if you’re interested, take a looksie:

I watched the first couple seasons of that show but after hearing her on the phone with JZ in the above video clip, completely could not ever watch again.
Also, isn’t she the one who said of Bethenny: “Any cow can push out a baby.”?? Well, apparently not this cow.

    • Rabble Rouser says:

OMG- that girl was annoying. She just went on and on and never seemed to get to the point. Not only is she a stripper from her own account but a prostitute and porn star. She also takes psychiatric meds.

What a mess- maybe she can be Dirty D’s long lost sister.

  41. Wall St Lady says:

Wow. I think having a NYC Ho Wife that has her face in every Tom Dick & Harry’s wo wo ;sounds like a perfect replacement for
    Miss B’s bathroom scenes.
Additionally there will b NO question this woman is not a socialite.

    • Ione says:

LOL, you maded me spew my wine on my computer screen….what a waste of wine 😉
Yes, she sounds like a real socialite….can’t wait to see her chairing/ planning an event with Jill, ROFLMA!

    • Quincy IL says:

That’s Bethenny though. Bethenny is the wild child. She’s going to change now that she has a daughter. She cut out the bad language and will read a lot of Dr. Suess.

I’m sure that Alex and Simon had their wild days too. I read their book.

After reading the articles linked here on the billionaire and his wife, I am wondering if NYC has any really sophisticated women, other than our WSL, of course. I have highly educated female friends who genuining appreaciate the arts and have raised successful children. I would not call them socialites, but they have more class than the women on the Real Housewives series.

In DC season two, the main link to power will be Lynda’s German Sheppard puppy who shares a trainer with Bo, the Obama’s dog and is related to one of Senator Kennedy’s dogs. Charles, the White House Photographer, has flewn the coop. All of the hype of their being close to power has evaporated. The clique of real housewives/stars won’t go to Republican anything and that will be 38% of the DC power base and 38% of the US population. If the ratings of season one were dismal, just wait to see the tanking of season two.

zap2it Cindy Barshop: Is this the new ‘Real Housewife of New York’? – From Inside the Box – Za.. http://bit.ly/dwULL4

  46. KookADoodleDo says:

    Older article on Cindy Barstop:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/14/nyregion/working-relationships.html?pagewanted=1

“Looking for a bikini waxing, Ms. Barshop, a former I.B.M. saleswoman, went to a hair-removal salon in Manhattan. While she was impressed with the industry’s pulsed light technology, Ms. Barshop was awed by the salon’s four-month waiting list.

She decided to open her own hair salon, using her initials in calling it Completely Bare. That first place was on 18th Street and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Her parents, Morty and Ruth Barshop from Wantagh on Long Island, helped her paint that first building the night before the opening and her brother, Howard, also painted and helped out.

With a background in sales and technology, Ms. Barshop took to the business’s operations and promotion, but she needed help on the financial end, and Howard, who lives in Tuckahoe and who was working in finance, gave her all his free time. Then came plans for a second salon, this one in Scarsdale.

Ms. Barshop said that the two balanced each other in talents and in temperaments. ”I was always the rebel,” Ms. Barshop said, ”Howard was the nice one. He is just better at interacting with people, dealing with vendors, dealing with so much. I don’t shut up in meetings, but he knows when to tell me to be quiet.”

Mr. Barshop agreed. ”I’m calm and collected,” he said. ”Everyone likes me. My sister is hard-nosed, the bad cop. We play good-cop/bad-cop with vendors a lot.”

  50. emt2 says:

Hello everyone. I have a question. My mom, who had a stroke about a month ago, is slowly but surely going to be blind within the next 6 months. She is already blind in her left eye (diabetic, glaucoma, cataracts, etc.) and now she has a huge blister on her right eye and has cataracts. She was in the hospital all day with complications and her doc said that she will be definitely be completely blind.

I’ve been feeling very frustrated, angry, sad and depressed over this and sometimes I don’t think I’m being a good daughter because of all of my emotions when it’s actually more devastating for her. Anyway, has anyone been in a situation where they have seen their parent or loved one deteriorate and how did you cope with it while being a source of support and strength and love? She keeps saying now that she wants to be able to see my baby (my brothers are all married and have kids but I am not married yet and will not be having kids anytime soon) and that I should get pregnant right away. It makes my head and heart hurt. It really does.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    • Need a Hobby says:

Is there some kind of support group or other services in your area for family/caregivers who are in situations analogous to this involving a family member? It would be good for you to know that you are not alone in dealing with difficult circumstances and that you are not a bad person for having conflicting emotions and needs of your own.

I’m sure there are others here who can give you more specific, helpful advice based on their knowledge and experience. I took care of my elderly parents and I have no magic wisdom. But at the time I knew others who also were dealing with elderly parents and I knew I wasn’t alone and there were people who I could talk to who would understand.

Hugs to you and your mom, emt2.

    • Rabble Rouser says:

I’m so sorry you are going through this.

I lost my mother when I was 23 to cancer. She was originally dx-ed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy followed by kemo and radiation. She was in remission for 3 years before it came back in the liver- they gave her 6 months to a year but she only survived about 6 weeks.

I know that our faith was very important and helpful in seeing us through that time.

Hopefully your mother’s eye sight will not be completely lost but if it does I think the other senses will prevail. She will still be able to touch, feel and smell any children you might have- and of course love them.

    • MickeyMouth says:

I am sure you are a wonderful daughter. Having a mother, or anyone you love ill, is difficult. However, I don’t believe that you should have a child for anyone or on anyone else’s timetable other than your own.

My mother has been ill my whole life. I at one time was her main caregiver and shelved a lot of my life because of her illness. One day after a particularly awful day in the emergency room with her, I sat and listened to the doctor give her instructions on what care she would need when she was able to come home. She told him to tell me. He in turn told her that I was to go home and since I was only 15 at the time, I was going to live my own life and not be her on-call nurse anymore. I don’t believe she did it on purpose but it became a habit of me always being the one to “handle” her illness even though I have brothers and sisters who were older and could have helped. We both left that hospital changed. She tried not to lean on me too much and I told her no when I thought she could do something for herself and was taking the easy way out. I also told my brothers and sisters they had to get more involved. Long story short, we both learned a lot about the limits of our relationship. My mom knows I love her and would do anything to help her but she had to learn that I had a life too that didn’t and shouldn’t revolve about her being ill.

You love your mother and her illness is devastating to you. You have every reason to be sad about this and the eventual loss of her sight. I hope you can sit and talk with your brothers about her illness and lean on each other for support and in addition share in the responsibility of caring for her if they are not already doing so. If not, maybe find some outside help. The hospital or doctor caring for you mother should be able to help you find support.

Last but not least. You can’t care for your mother if you don’t care for yourself. I don’t know how honest a relationship you have with your mom but she probably will understand that you having a baby because she is going blind isn’t really a good reason. This is all new and you are both frightened. You two need to talk. It will make you both feel better.

      {{{{Big hugs}}}}

I was my grandmother’s caretaker for 8 months until she passed away. We she first got out of rehab she would call for me at 2 am (over the baby monitor in her room) because she wanted a Diet Coke. Right then I had to put some limitations out there because I also had my husband and 2 year old son to take care of. It’s not like she was thirsty, she had water, yet because she wanted a “Coke” she expected me to wake up and get her one. It was kind of good because I had to really explain that I couldn’t take care of her and my son well if I had no sleep because of what she wanted right then and there.

It was good for both of us because we got a system and what was acceptable. It made such a difference in our relationship.

It’s not easy. You can’t live your life in accordance to her illness. It’s such a fine line because you love them, but you don’t want to be a doormat. I would also say counseling if either or both of you are up to it is a good idea.

All the best to you. (hug)

Sorry to hear about your mom. I know how you feel because I lost my dad 16 months ago. He had been sick for about 3 years, in and out the hospital a few times. My situation was a little different as he lived on the other side of Pacific Ocean. I always feel bad that I was not there for him. Thus, I guess I am not qualified to give you any advice. However, my thoughts are with you! Best wishes.

      @emt2:

My heart goes out to you. You sound a little bit like me, you are a “fixer”.

Right now your mom is mourning the future, ie: her inability to see her future grandbaby. It’s making your head hurt because there is no grandbaby and you can’t fix this.

I know from the tone of your posting that getting pregnant is not an option for you right now. You’re not being a “bad” daughter not to get pregnant and your mom, in her mourning for herself, is putting unrealistic expectations on you.

One of the greatest challenges that all humans have is facing change. We don’t like it one bit.

And right now there is nothing but change going on around you. It will be a struggle for you to keep up.

Like others before me have suggested, is there a group you can join? Can your church/synagogue help? Can the doctor recommend a therapist for your mom to help her cope? If you’ve been “feeling very frustrated, angry, sad and depressed over this” well, you’re feelings are valid. Maybe you can benefit from short term therapy to help you cope?

I have no powerful words of wisdom, I wish I did.

7 years ago my mother, my grandmother, and my godmother all died on the same day.

I learned that as long as I concentrated on putting one foot in front of the other, and I put my faith into a higher power, that I COULD do it. And if I can do it so can you. Because really, is there any other choice?

My heart goes out to you emt2. I took care of my mother who recently passed away after battling cancer for ~3 years, and now I am caring for my elderly father whose health is tenuous. Your feelings are the same as what I went through, it can’t be helped and don’t feel guilty about it. The reality is life can be very tough and whatever hand your mother has been dealt is not something you can control. Cry and be angry about it when you need to, then dust yourself off and do what you can. Do the best you can and when you feel you fall short, forgive yourself and move on. Your mother is having a tough time, but it is hard on you too. Try to get as much help from your siblings as possible, (good luck with it too, sometimes it works, I guess) and be thankful and happy for what you CAN do. Of course you can’t have a child now if you aren’t ready…..that is something you CAN’T do. Encourage your mother to look at things positively and be thankful that she has grandchildren from your brothers. (Believe me, my parents…both very negative people, so it can be difficult, but that is them, not me). Allow your mom to feel anger and sorrow over her situation, then try to do whatever you can to make her happy, share good times together, but take time to stay in touch with your life and your friends too. Watching someone deteriorate is emotionally wrenching, I felt I had a gift of time whereas some loved ones are taken suddenly. Neither way is great but it is the cycle of life and we don’t get to choose these things. You can’t change the circumstances, you can only change your response to it. Don’t be afraid to share your genuine fears with your mom either, let her know you hurt too. But again, try to focus on the positive and you will come through this stronger than before. If you still feel guilty and pressured by her requests that you have a child, genuinely share with her that right now you aren’t ready and couldn’t possibly focus on being a mother when you feel that you need to focus on being a daughter now. I hope something here helps and I haven’t rambled on too long. Hugs and blessings!

    • CdnFillie says:

Honey, you are being an awesome daughter. Keep doing what you’re doing, with her. As far as her going blind before she has a chance to see any kids you may or may not have, only thing you can do is reassure her that when it is TIME for you to have a baby, she will still be able to touch and feel , taste with kisses, hear the cries and gurgles, and smell that wonderful baby smell and know exactly what that baby will look like. Good luck and stay strong, it’s a tough path you have to work through but you’ll get there and so will your mother…hugs

Hopefully in your city, there are elderly care services. My mom (88) is going for the next 3 weeks (or as long as she needs) to blind training. She has macular degeneration and her eyesite is almost gone. They teach them how to get around–sign them up for books on tape and a whole lot of other services. There are people who come in (ask her doctor-he should know) that are covered thru Medicare and Medicade. Call local hospitals, they should have names and numbers of elder caretakers. You are a wonderful daughter..it is a very hard job, don’t beat yourself up..and be sure to take time for yourself!! God bless you–you are in my prayers.

emt2 So sorry for what you are going through. Your mother is frightened, I’m sure and looking for something positive to cling to, but isn’t thinking of the reality of you having a child in this difficult time. You love your mother and want to help her but YOU will be the one living with this decision for the rest of your life. Please look out for yourself, your child should be brought into the world for the right reasons, not to appease a frightened woman looking for comfort the wrong way. My heart goes out to you and I wish you all the best.

Emt2. So sorry to hear about ur mom. R u her primary care taker ? Sorry to b so nosy but how old is she ?
My 1st prayers as a child were asking God to bless the little boy who was one day to b my husband. I didn’t get married till almost 40. So three years into my marriage when WSM got cancer I was furious ! I even blamed him for his wild life b4 me. I was vocal & really hurt WSM. I came across as selfish.
As we proceeded w/surgery etc. U couldn’t peel my off my husbands side. For weeks I slept on a cot or a chair & refused to leave (I bathed at the hospital)
My point some of us don’t suffer silently. I was mad & if stress causes cancer I probably won’t get it cuz I act out & I always have but I am als0 the 1st there & last to leave.
U r going to be fine. U will get through this.
W/cancer & in AA they now “minister” to the people around the sick one because it is a known fact that they suffer too.
    U will get thru this.

      Hi WSL-

I think I googled something like ‘billionaire plane crash” or something similar. One of the first articles that came up was on D.K. and J.K.- when I saw her picture it totally fit the description you gave.

I’m not sure if I would want J.K.’s life as much as it’s nice not to have to worry about money and relieving to know that your kids would always get the best of everything that matters (education-health care ect), it sounds way too complicated. I can’t imagine having someone as a personal secretary just to book and fill a social calendar.

        • Blue Sky says:

It sounded like JK puts up with a lot (from the NY times 5 page article, it was awesome posted on the previous blog) so “having it all” does not mean she has a happy married life at all. The article mentioned her humble beginnings as a mid-western girl. Sounded to me like she only wanted a rich husband, as she worked in NY city and kept “her eyes open.” Then she dated DK for years, only got married after he got sick & she stood by him. Yeah, I ‘d say she’s a gold digger.

Emt2–I am so sorry that you’re both going thru this. My mother has PSP,
Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. It’s a horrible disease. Three years ago she was walking 3-5 miles a day and was happy. PSP has taken everything from her. She can barely feed herself, speak or walk now. I have a link about it, you can read later.

I take care of her. I feed her, bathe her, dress her. There isn’t much she can do for herself. It kills me to see her go thru this, she was such a strong woman. She was always my rock. I had to come to the reality that she needs me and I had to become the stronger one. It was and is really hard. I went thru a lot with feeling guilty and I still do. I feel like I can’t do enough or I’m not doing things right. The guilt is overwhelming. I feel guilty when I’m one room away from her and I’m reading the blog laughing at something funny.

Over the past 2 years I found it helpful when I pointed things out to myself. For a long time I didn’t know why I was so angry or hurt or impatient. It’s because this wasn’t suppose to happen to my mother. Why her? When you realize that you have the right to be angry, hurt, impatient and all the other feelings that you never thought were right you begin to calm down a little. Try not to doubt yourself. I know how hard that is but you know in your heart that you’d never give her anything but the best of you. God Bless you and your mom, I’ll keep you both in my prayers.

    • Need a Hobby says:

You know you should not feel guilty, boston. You know how much you do for your mom. You know there are others who, if in those circumstances, would not do what you do. What you do is out of love and the kind of person you are.

Never feel guilty for having moments of happiness, a respite, or just having a good belly laugh at some absurdity. That’s “healthful” to use crazy Kelly’s term, and we all need it. Especially when we’re dealing with tough circumstances. And you’ve already figured out that you do have a right to your feelings. It’s OK to be human. And you must take care of yourself also.

I think Patti Stanger is a fraud. Her clients are not millionaires. The dates are not “carefully” screened or chosen, just basically scraped off the curb in front of Hooters (apology in advance to Hooters). Patti does not get paid a high fee. She has a lousy track record. Her engagement was false.
OK I will put into words (as I speculated earlier upstream) I think she prays at the other church, so why hide it in this day in age? There is nothing to be embarrassed about. I find it suspect that a women her age who spends all of her professional time with single men looking to get married, hasn’t found a husband by now (what is she 48? 58?). Therefore she is not seriously interested in marriage.
I just hate her self promotion when she is blatantly dishonest with the Bravo audience.

Down to the last detail these were the same cakes but in the next show they are faux display cakes. Makes you think the finished product was fake all along.

two whole eggs. I am reading Jackie Warner’s book right now. I will watch each sesion of “Thintervension” and write something here. I have studied aging of the immune system for 39 years. I watched tissues of the Human kidney add carbs as part of the aginging process in grad school as we looked for the reasons that children in Chicago were having kidney failure after strep throat. It was the similarity of the M protein in the step cell wall to the structure of the Human kidney. As carbs were added to the cells in aging, the tendecy towards the immune kidney attack lessened. I saw back then that aging was carbohydrate/sugar related.

Jackie Warners book (I only saw hardbacks) is one thousand times better than Bethenny’s. Jackie knows her science.

I had a hard time with menopausal changes. Look at the women our ages and you can see the difference between a heavy set young woman and a 50 something. It’s the abdomin fat. Look at Sonja Morgan’s decision. She wanted to drink alcohol and chose surgery. That does fix the stomach fat problem.

This week I won my physical trainer’s 3 month fitness challenge. I am the oldest particpant. I used diet, exercise, and self education to do it.

I love the women here. If you could see how I can jump rope and sprint at 57, you would be shocked. Yesterday, my over the head weights were a total of 3o lbs. I could have done more, but those were the weights for everyone in the class. I can toss 100 pound bales of alfalfa 10 ft into the air. After 200 bales, I actually feel great.

Then I read that the body processes it through the liver so it IS not the same as sugar!

I went to my pantry and EVERY single g’damn thing from bread to salad dressing had that syrup in it! R U Kidding ME? I threw everything out and check labels religiously.

Besides Jackie Warner’s book, do have any other reading suggestions? Like you I am interested how the body uses food to protect the immune system.

            • Quincy IL says:

The book has it, but it is on bravotv.com right now at the “Thintervension” site. Go to the page and look at the lower left. She also gave it in the show and I have that recorded. An alternative with go to Walmart and buy Whey. It’s near the pharmacy section and is a powder. There are directions on the jar and I mix it with berries or flavored non fat yogurt. My mom loves it. It’s great for cancer patients or sick people because it it easy to drink and digest.

onemore, I read Bob Green’s book. He has helped Oprah over the past 17 years. She’s gone up and down, but when he’s not watching, she eats whole bags of blue corn tortilla chips and kettles of macaroni and cheese. People claim he is too strict, but Oprah needs a strict coach. She has issues.

I am researching and writing about Thintervention right now. I have a tendency to equate physical training with torture so there may be some discussion of the Medicis. rotfl. They didn’t have to exercise in 1550 Italy, they had racks.

                Jackie Warner’s recipe from bravo.com

                1 scoop protein powder
                1 teaspoon (tsp) glutamine powder
                1 tsp BCAA powder
                1 tablespoon L carnitine
                ½ tsp flax seed oil
                1 cup frozen spinach
1 cup frozen berries (this makes it palatable so absolutely add berries)

I saved it in my documents too.

All of these chemicals work on the cellular level. There are essential to the life of the cell.

Quincy – I’m a vegetarian, almost vegan. I occasionally eat fish/dairy , but very rarely. I’m thinking about going raw but my friends all say it can’t be healthy. What do you think? Got any good resources for me?

              • Quincy IL says:

You can find tons of information on the internet.

                http://www.vegsoc.org/info/protein.html

                Google “essential amino acids”

To make proteins you have to have around 20 of these amino acids. Your body can make some… I think 11, but you have to get the other nine from plants. I think there was one that at the time I took physiology was not found in plants, but with new species discovered and hybridized that may have been found.

The trick is to eat a very wide variety of plants and nuts. I think it would be a lot easier is you use milk products and eggs. Then, you can go for it without a worry. Take a fish oil supplement that comes in a gel case. That will help you.

Your friends are correct, it’s hard, but I think you can do it. Hundreds of millions of Hindus seem to do a good job with this.

    • Quincy IL says:

That was a challenging experience. My farrier is my trainer. He’s 70 so we have a couple of college girls who ride for him now. He had an older gelding that was well trained and the girls and I had green horses with only a summer of riding and wet saddle blankets. My mare decided that the sound of the wooden bridge was frightening and she wasn’t going to cross the bridge so the trainer on the guilding and I went into the deep creek and out on the first leg of the journey. We came back to the bridge and experiences horses were on both sides of me approaching so my horse had no choice other than taking the bridge. After going over it 10 times, I think she understands that she has to do what I say. I could feel her shaking with fear with my legs. She’s going to need a steady rider for a few years and I don’t think she should go to a family with children. Time helps, but some horses need adult riders forever. That’s just the way it is.

You know, I hate that NJ Housewives show (I don’t watch much TV anyway) and would say that I could care less about what is going on with them, but I LOVE reading what you have to day about it your blog. More entertaining than anythng Bravo airs! Much better to read about it than having to sit thoough any of that pap.

  64. Susu says:

Just read that on the wikipdeia side of the DC Housewives:

“On Thursday, September 16, 2010, it was reported that Bravo TV has fired Michaele and Tareq after someone close to Bravo reported that the network has had enough of their craziness. The tipping point being reported by many news outlets is that the Salahis are blaming Bravo for banning them from speaking about crashing the White House dinner, something the network is denying. This was the last straw for the network and a source close to Bravo has said that they have had enough and the Salahis will not be asked to return to the show for the second season.[citation needed] These reports may be invalid and only intended to create more public discussion about the couple and promote the show.”

Is that true??? Does anyone of u guys know sth? Is she really not coming back??? What will they do then? Cuz in my opinion their Bravo salary was the only money they really earned….

  65. stanbo says:

Happy Sunday everyone! I can’t keep up with speed at which some of you post, lol, but I noticed on the last blog from Friday someone implied that I may be someone else who has posted here before. Let me assure you that Fridat was the first time I ever posted here. I have read the blog for a while but felt compelled to post on Friday for the first time… have never posted under another name on this board. I have no need to play games, and if someone thinks I am someone else, you are incorrect.

Just thought I would clear that up. I’m a gay man, I live in DC, I am 48, I have never missed an episode of any of the housewives, and I love to be snarky about their crazy shenanigans.

No, no – Buffywood just wondered if she knows you IRL…it wasn’t about whether you had posted before (IIRC) though I wish you had since your posts are GREAT. Now don’t take this the wrong way, but do you happen to know Paul Wharton at all? Because if you do, come sit by me and whisper in my ear. I promise I won’t tell…

Noelle’s post was uncharacteristic of her and she’s going through a lot, so give her a pass, okay? We are all human and sometimes we snap. I myself have broken repeatedly since Thursday and today is proving to be even worse. So let stuff like that go, please – let’s focus on our discussion and if someone is a bit peevish, just wish them a better day and move on. So we don’t get bogged down in the toxicity that we all dislike so much.

    • OneMoreinBoston says:

      Hi Stanbo:
I’ve been thinking a lot about your comments about Andy and Ben Weiner.

When I approached this whole subject of Andy’s alleged creepiness, I tried to stringently avoid thinking of him as gay, so I could avoid falling into the same old stereotypes and assumptions.

I looked at it as, if Andy was a straight man and Ben Weiner was 13-year-old girl- well, this attention is super inappropriate!

After you posted, I started thinking that maybe I was mistaken. Maybe Andy’s interest in the young Ben Weiner is BECAUSE he’s gay.

Not in a prurient, icky way, but maybe he remembers when he was Ben’s age, and maybe just maybe his “gay-dar” is telling him this kid is gay.

We all know the suicide risks for GLBT teenagers, and if true, let’s be realistic, Ben Weiner is going to have a tough road in front of him before he’s comfortable in his own skin.

Maybe by reaching out to him, Andy felt that he was being a mentor and a role model of sorts. And I can’t remember if it was you or another poster drawing similarities between And Ben both being Jewish and going to camp, etc., so Andy identified with him in some way as well.

I thank you for posting your thoughts. Your comments have made me look at this situation a little differently, and I appreciate that.

      • stanbo says:

And vice -versa – I was really looking at the whole thing very narrow-mindedly from my side, lol.. I just know when I was a kid, the boys who loved Cher and all her Bob Macke gowns and all the other campy things in life pretty much grew up into fine gay men. I knew I was gay at 13 (though it didn’t stop me for trying not to be for several years later on down the line).

Ben could be straight as an arrow – but really, would it make the whole situation any less….hmmm…..inappropriate? I think as a gay man, Andy should be a little more careful, though I don’t think his intentions are bad in a sexual way. But I have come full circle after giving this a lot of thought – I think the whole thing is a bit icky.

        • Ellabean says:

Well said stanbo and welcome to the board .

I LOVE Tabitha’s Salon Makeovers show too. Hope it gets renewed.

    • Zipit Zarin says:

If she moved to Manhattan she won’t need a car. But then if she moved there she could afford her car payments. LOL

    • AZ Girl says:

Most likely Danielle has a judgment against her and they are garnishing her wages. Once a judgment is secured you can freeze any bank account in that person name. Whatever funds that are in the account up to the amount of the judgment will go toward paying off the debt. Earnings Garnishments take a percentage out of your wages per pay period.

  73. Duchess of Dryer Lint says:

    EMT—–
Hey Lady! I have been wondering where you were and how things were going for you.
Is there a way you can get me your email? I would like to speak with you a bit less publicly.
I will tell you this, my friend. I took care of my Dad through his terminal illness. He had heart attacks, strokes and lung diseases. It took years for him to finally wear out, and in those years I experienced every emotion you can imagine. Everyone’s experience is different, because the person we are caring for is unique, but there are some common denominators that seem to happen to us all. What you are describing is one of them. I have a feeling that you are feeling like the worst daughter on the planet because you cannot make this go away for your Mom, and you can’t give her what she is demanding. Have you hit the point where you actually feel like asking God to just end her suffering? That is a moment, let me tell you. What the hell does it say about you when you actually want to pray for your own parent to die? You are exhausted, and your heart breaks to see the source of your strength as a child, the person you counted on to take care of you, now become the one who needs you to care for them. They get frustrated with the lack of control over their lives and so they start to try and control yours. This frustrates you, because you DO have your own life, and you can’t change it to meet their whims, but you somehow feel like that is exactly what you are supposed to do, because a GOOD GIRL would make them happy.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that what you are feeling is NORMAL. 100% NORMAL and you are NOT a bad daughter. You are a sensitive, wonderful woman going through one of the hardest, most physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting things you can ever go through.
I really do understand, and would like to be here for you. Please get me your email.
Lynn, can you help us connect? You can see everyone’s information, can’t you?
Thanks, and hand in there EMT!
    Melanie

    • Zipit Zarin says:

The above is amazing. I have no experience with this. Thank you Duchess.

    • Had Enough! says:

Melanie – EMT can’t be the worst daughter on the planet because I hold that title. Today’s screaming match was about my wanting to change a flight so I could get back faster from a business trip I can’t change. He is yelling at me not to do it but if I don’t, you’d better believe I will hear about it later. She is too old and nearly disabled and I need to be there for her, but she is playing the martyr routine and saying she doesn’t need anyone. And if anything goes wrong during the surgery, and I didn’t have a chance to say good-bye, well then *I* will think I am the worst daughter on the planet, too. Not for the first time, and not just for this reason, I am glad I don’t have kids.

And when I am too sick and infirm to enjoy life, I am going to check out on my own terms. None of this endless running to doctors and hospitals and otherwise just sitting around not able to do anything. That isn’t a life.

      • Need a Hobby says:

Had Enough: Bollocks to the “bad daughter” shit if you’re taking care of your folks and treating them well. If I may insert myself here for a mo, I figured out as a kid that my mom had her issues rooted in shit years before I was on the scene (she was in her forties when she had me) and I wasn’t ever going to be in her good books. And I knew it really wasn’t about me. But I was going to be a good person on my own regardless (I didn’t want bad karma in this life or the next) and so discounted her shit. Not to say I was totally impervious, just to say I was never hung up on worrying whether or not I was a “good daughter.” You shouldn’t be hung up on that either, IMO.

You know what you do for your folks, you know there are others who wouldn’t. My mom in her last years would pull manipulative shit and I would let her know it wasn’t going to work. Not that she stopped trying, but for example, when she’d “threaten” to call my brother so he could take care of her (ha, like he ever would), I’d say, here let me dial the number for you. That would stop her in her tracks. At least for a while.

The most important thing is that you take care of yourself and retain your sanity. (Easier said than done perhaps but it can be done.)

As Duchess notes, whatever else parents were before, with age and infirmity the frustration of not being independent and in control of their situation is huge and they can act out in efforts to control their situation, the people around them. I understood that. But as others noted, you can’t let yourself be a doormat and let them control you. They’re on a one way journey (as are we all) and the best you can do is look out for them and make sure they’re safe and cared for. There should be no guilt in that.

        • Quincy IL says:

My mom complains about me because I show up and ask her to walk to the Church and back one mile with me. She’s 79. She also complains when I show up to clean her house and clean her garage. My brother tells me what she says. I think I have grown immune to nagging and complaining from my mom. It’s a gift.

Do what you know you have to do.

  74. Duchess of Dryer Lint says:

    Oh screw it.
    EMT,

  75. Duchess of Dryer Lint says:

    Had Enough,

LOL, Believe me, I held that “title” in my own mind for a while too. Kept thinking I should get me a trophy to display! Again, I just think what you are feeling is NORMAL in those circumstances. And maybe we SHOULD get us a trophy, form a group, we could call it “THE BAD DAUGHTERS CLUB” and get us our own reality show!

    • Zipit Zarin says:

My mother died when I was a baby. I sometimes wish I could be a bad daughter and think some memories would be better than no memories. heh

      • Had Enough! says:

        Dear Zipit,

My heart goes out to you. My friend’s mother died a few years ago, and every time I vent about my mother, I feel terrible because I know how much she misses her mother. OTOH, dear EMT and Duchess, I have a dear friend whose mother was ultra-toxic all her life (actually told my friend, when my friend was about 12 years old, that she hadn’t wanted children…it is one thing to be honest, but with a 12-year old?!) and she was absolutely relieved when her mother died. Somehow, I have a feeling I am going to be in the second category. I can feel my stomach starting to burn, my muscles tense up, my blood pressure rise, and a headache comes on instantly when I have to deal with my mother. Some of the stunts she has pulled…would make Gloria “mother’s not happy” look like a saint.

        Hugs to us all.

        • Zipit Zarin says:

Wow, just wow Had Enough. Hugs to YOU. I really don’t understand how a person could be that way. Narcissism is a mental illness? None of us get thru life without some damage but holy cow! Thank you for your kindness. When I first heard the song Evacuee by Enya I was thunderstruck. I agree with the lyrics “All I have are the miles full of promises of home” and all the rest. “Home” being Heaven where we’ll have a wonderful reunion.
          I don’t have a death wish but I can’t wait!

Quincy – OT. I left you a comment upthread but didn’t know if you’d see it. I’m a long time vegetarian. Practically vegan. I will occasionally eat fish or cheese but very rarely. I’m thinking of going raw but my friends and family are worried that it can’t be healthy. Any thoughts? Resources?

        • Quincy IL says:

Mamaz, I found the amino acid that is difficult to get when you are a vegetarian. It was L glutamine. Modern nutritionists solved that problem with a capsule for vegetarians which has the hard to find amino acids like L glutamine (normally we get that one from meat.)

          http://www.integratedhealth.com/hpdspec/perma.html

So.. you can do this and be healthy. Good luck.

There are only nine essential (essential = the body doesn’t make them) amino acids needed by adult humans: phenylalanine, valine, threonine, tryptophan, isoleucine, methionine, leucine, histine, and lysine. It is fairly easy for vegetarians to get complete proteins (i.e., all the amino acids) because they eat dairy products and eggs. Vegetarians who won’t eat dairy and eggs and strict vegans can get complete proteins by combining beans and rice (or black beans and corn) and by eating quinoa, which happens to be delicious.

Glutamine is commonly found in muscle tissue and is made in the body but you need more of it when under physical stress or when you have an injury.

        • Blue Sky says:

Mamaz, I was vegetarian for many years, and my MIL taught me to cook Hindu veg. food. By combining beans (lentils are great), wheat or rice, yogurt & veg. curries we were very healthy. I did take a vitamin, to be extra careful about vit. B 12 & iron intake. After menopause, women don’t need 18 mg of iron a day (nor do men) so be careful buying vitamins. One problem for me is vitamin K (found in dark green leafy veg.) because it is a blood thickener. I have had clots, been hospitalized when they found the clots the first time (enough blood clots in your lungs = you die, blood clots cause strokes too). I was only 48 when the clot in my leg caused me to be hospitalized. Didn’t know about all the clots in my lungs, so that leg clot saved me. Now I can take really deep breaths. Didn’t notice that I was losing my ability to breathe over time! High cholesterol, bad circulation & heredity seem to cause clots…and of course a bad diet (high fat). I check vit. K content (even blueberries have some) & take warfarin daily. I would not eat too much spinach or broccoli due to vit. K. This is a good website: http://nutritiondata.self.com/
Another curious thing, the redness in my face has gone away, but if I eat lots of vit. K it comes back, esp. around the nose. If anyone has rosacea, you may want to lower the vit. K you are eating! Another bummer, the natural bacteria you have in your own gut produces vit. K. Also good idea to eat eggs (esp. the whites), quinoa (just cook it with your beans, it’s very tasty & thickens whatever stew or soup you are making), and yogurt. Here’s to healthy eating!

  77. Lynn – I FINALLY got to watch RHODC and so I just read your recap.
You don’t think the drinking age should be 18?
It’s 18 here. But I don’t really see the point in drinking laws in the first place. If kids want to drink they are going to drink and no law is going to stop them. I never met someone who said “I would love to get drunk tonight, but it’s illegal so I won’t do it.”
Personally, I think they should outlaw alcohol all together and make marijuana legal. I finally found something about Lynda that I don’t totally hate!

    • Had Enough! says:

RCH – it has been years and years since I inhaled, but hey, would you stop bogarting that joint? I could use a toke or two right now.

    • Rabble Rouser says:

Are you in Quebec CA? That’s the only place I know of 18 being the drinking age in US/CA.

      • Adgirl says:

The states in the US upped the age to 21 to qualify for Federal Highway money. In the Jimmy Carter era I think.

      • Yes, but the drinking age in Canada is not so much a law as a strong suggestion. I’ve been carded once in my entire life, and that was 4 months ago. Lol.

        • Quincy IL says:

In Montreal, people were smoking marijuana openingly in the streets. Policemen were there and surely they could smell it.

          • Yeah people are pretty open about it here. The cops don’t really care unless you’re black – then they might shoot you.

            • Quincy IL says:

I don’t have a problem with people using drugs or alcohol as long as they don’t drive or harm people. The Canadians using that I saw weren’t bothering anyone.

            • Rabble Rouser says:

I went to Montreal a few times-especially before I was 19. (I lived in Toronto).

Old Montreal was great-especially since you could bring your own bottle of wine to a restaurant and most places didn’t charge corking fee. Before I left Canada, they started to allow it in Toronto, but you had to pay something like $15 bucks. Unless it was expensive wine/champagne it wasn’t worth it.

          • CdnFillie says:

oohh..i’m reading a few misconceptions here about us Canucks, drinking age is 19 in all but 3 provinces which is 18. Quebec however is the only province where you can buy alcohol from a corner store like you can in the US. The other provinces are strictly regulated as to where you buy liquor and beer…we have The Beer Store and the LCBO’s here in Ontario which are government owned, you can’t stop off at the local Mac’s Milk for a pint of anything but milk around here.
As for smoking maryjanes (LOL) on the streets in Montreal, that is totally illegal here in Canada unless it’s in a controlled area for medicinal purposes but I do know that certain types of American made cigarettes smell overwhelmingly like pot…(I used to smoke them when I was a kid pretending it was pot and no one knew differently 😛 ) my bad

            • Everyone knows it isn’t legal. Lol. But most people around here don’t really care. I see people rolling joints on the street, they don’t even try to hide it.

I’ve never smelled a cigarette that smells like pot. How interesting. Which ones?

I just got on for the first time this weekend and have finally caught up on all the comments.
Great blog as usual Lynn. Couldn’t agree more about Patti Stanger. I watched her show twice and swore never again.

What a fantastic, strong, courageous group of women you all are.
emt2,Boston, Mickey, WSL, Zipit, Duchess- you are inspirational.

emt2 – Maybe your mom’s desire for a grandchild from you is based on her generations view of success and happiness. She is facing her own mortality and would feel better moving on if she believed you were happy, loved and cared for. Find the best way you can to reassure her that you have wonderful friends that are your family. That you are fullfilled and happy and able to support yourself. Talk to her about your pension and retirement plans. I think that might help.
Make sure you find the time to eat right, get enough sleep and exercise. You need to be physically strong to carry this emotional burden. Don’t be too hard on yourself. The feelings you are describing are perfectly normal. Find a good therapist or clergy to help you with them. You are a loving, dutiful daughter. God bless you.

Thank you all so much. I just got home from a very trying few days and I’m going to take a nap. I really appreciate all of you guys. My mom was very nasty to me this morning and it was nice to come here and read these words of comfort. She is angry, of course. And she is supposed to be. I’m just tired. I’m moving apartments, my fiancé and I are back together but he is in LA and I’m in Chicago, I’m applying for jobs and finishing up an article that will be published for an art magazine. I’m just exhausted and have sensory overload at the moment. I find great comfort in talking with all of you and hearing your own stories of having to take care of family members now or when they have been ill or terminally ill. My older brother died this week 4 years ago and it’s a hard time for us all. My mom always wished that he could have left behind a child but that was not meant to be, just as it is not meant for me to have a child at the moment to appease any feelings of guilt or duty. I think that my mom’s nasty attitude/pressure is coming from that place of having had to bury a child too soon and not having someone who would have carried on his life in a way and her own increasingly horrible health and need to rely on those who love her the most.

I will respond better once I’ve gotten a nap in. I feel like I’ve been awake for days. It is bringing back horrible memories of me studying for my Master’s exam while my family fell apart around me. Definitely need a nap. AND then a SkinnyGirl Margarita. Ha!

    See you guys soon! XOXO

Great photos. WSL gave some information about the clothes yesterday. She said that a couple of items in a show are actually sold to very thing rich ladies. How do they make money at this? Renting the venue and paying the help must cost a lot of money. If those clothes never are sold, why would they have the shows?

Last year Kelly Cutrone said that the fashion world would have to change. She said that the day of the 5,000 dollar slacks was over.

Thanks for the photos. No Jill Zarin? I guess they didn’t give her front row seats.

Watching Top Chef Desserts right now (missed it during the week). Hard enough to watch cooking shows on TV but torture to watch dessert shows. Actually, I rarely order dessert – it has to be something I really want. But when there is something on the menu I really want, I do enjoy it a lot. And right now, I am in serious need of comfort good (please, no lectures – I know, I know – better than being an alcoholic, I guess – I am not about to get in a car accident because I ate too many cookies). I wish I could move in with Bethenny and have her explain to me not which choice to make (I already know that) but how to control the emotional eating. I’ve taken classes, spent a fortune on nutritionists and diet coaches, etc. and every time I think I’ve got the emotional eating conquered, it comes roaring back a few months or a year later.

I had to take early retirement after 40 years with my company in nov of 2008 when my husband was diagnosed with 4th stage brain tumour cancer and lung cancer. He died in less than two months, i had a heart attack and had to have triple bypass surgery. On fathers day last year my (now deceased)husbands dog of 12 years died on fathers day 2009. two weeks after mothers day this year my dog died. I live out in the country in central fla so i just had to get myself a dog and found one on tampas lost angels rescue. That has helped alot. Only thing is this dog doesnt like me leaving him so i take him to doggy daycare and run my errands. My life has chancged so drastically from being in a high pressure job to doing nothing. I know i will eventually get busy again, but for sure not working again. I am on lots of meds for high blood pressure and heart meds and high cholesterol meds and anti depressant meds as well. I am alot better than i was last year and after my dog died in may. I got tired of crying all the time and knew I needed a dog to talk to and pet. My sons family is in virginia in military and locating to quantico later this year. I get to see them twice a year at christmas and for summer vacations in st george isl in north fla. I plan to start having my house painted inside and new flooring so there is plenty to do here, i know i have been just too depressed but that is about to change. Thanks for all the kind folks here.

Well, focusing on the dog and the house should help. I know you said you’ve been depressed- of course you have! You’ve been grieving, and you still are.

Chows are very protective, and almost seem physic to me. And of course german shepards are so smart and loyal, you have a perfect combo!

Right before my mother died, a stray cat showed up at my parent’s back door, near death. My father took pity, because the cat was so far gone, she just sorta collapsed and couldn’t even lift her head. She had been de clawed and then someone turned her out into the wild.

So my father fed her, and made sure she was drinking , and then took her to the vet, and well that cat just adopted him. She wouldn’t even let my mother pet her.

My mother died suddenly about a month later, and the cat just wrapped herself around my father and wouldn’t let go.

You see, I really believe, he saved her life-so she decided to save his. And she did. The little cat become something that my dad HAD to get out of bed to feed, to clean the litter box, to let her in, to let her out, in short to function.

My dad turned a corner, and so will you.

      sending you lotsa of love

      • Adgirl says:

Awesome story. Some people think cats are cold and aloof, and some cats are.

Our rescue cat sneaks inside our bed and sleeps with her head on a pillow with covers up to her neck. She won’t budge until we get up in the morning. For a little cat she purrs really loud, all night. We adore her.

    • Blue Sky says:

Jean, sorry to hear how you have been thru the ringer last few years. Your dog sounds so cute, wish we could see a picture. I have 2 german shepherds, great dogs. It keeps me busy looking after them. Anytime the car door is open, they jump in. If a friend comes over, they will even get in their car. We have an electric fence, which is great for them but terrifying for people walking by. So I go out with them, just so people know we aren’t trying to scare them! The female is small, but she’s the vicious one. Whenever I’m home alone, no worries. Nobody will ever enter the house, with all that barking, & heaven help them if they do. My male dog loves people. He was a hit at the nursing home, when I took him to visit a friend a few years ago. Love cats too, but my husband is allergic. Love hearing pet adoption stories, seems like it’s the people that get rescued too. Hugs to you!

      • JKW says:

That’s wonderful to hear how everyone adopted their pets. I volunteer for several rescues and I foster dogs…so love to hear the adoption stories. I have a couple of puppy mill dogs here now. It is so sad to see them so scared and to freak out when people get close to them. We have “torture time” which is basically catching them, holding and petting them. You see small amounts of improvement but it goes slowly.

        • Laura aka Just done says:

          • Blue Sky says:

Awesome! Love your son’s spirit, and yours. Puppy mills are so awful. I visited the breeder where I got my g. shepherds from. She won’t sell to anyone unless she meets the whole family, because her dogs are her family! Karen Wagner, & her dogs are wonderful. Both my dogs have problems, one is going blind & my male has hip displagia, so the breeder made a note of that & is not breeding that bloodline any more. Every one of her puppies is spoken for before they are born. Karen has improved the german shepherd breed in the U.S. She even had one of her dogs go to the U.K., to improve bloodlines there. Here’s her website:
            http://www.alkarah.com/
If we move to the country, I will rescue more dog(s). Every cat I ever owned was a rescue, or somehow found us. Pets make me saner & give so much love/companionship.

            • Laura aka Just done says:

I have a rescue dog now…Love him! He’s a shepherd, husky, great dane mix. As u can imagine, he’s a BIG dog.

We worked with a rescue for a few years, pulling dogs from kill shelters and training them so they would be considered “adoptable.” We managed to save 18 dogs in 18 months. The rescue closed down, but we are still very active.

I took some links from here and then googled “Danielle Staub.” There are more articles on her car reposession. They say, she begged the men to leave her car. How does she survive all so many lawsuits, being fired, custody hearings, reunion shows with Teresa yelling in her face?

She could be waiting for all of the suits to finish then file for bankruptcy to get a clean slate, but there were thousands of dollars in taxes and the government makes you pay them in time with penalties.

I have to pay my bills twice a month in full. I’ve been on my own since 16. I put myself through college and only spent the pennies that I had after tuition and books.
I just couldn’t owe that much money to so many people and go to sleep at night.

    • Blue Sky says:

Same here Quincy, couldn’t sleep at night if I owed $, even a few hundred. After my parents couldn’t help with college, I worked & put myself through college. Took awhile, but I had a very long resume, and never have had trouble getting a job. Shopped at Goodwill, garage sales, & my friends used to give me clothes, they felt sorry for me! My husband & went to movies – at the library, because that was free. Now in our 50’s we have no debt & money in the bank. That’s why I can’t stand grifters. How do the Sahlimies get away with it? He gets hauled into court all the time, still doesn’t pay! Their creditors should be garnishing Missy’s salary, but sadly the creditor’s cases are probably all in his name…and he does not make any salary to garnish. So how the h#ll were they going to buy a house ? Such rubbish! When they told Stacie they could be looking $100,000 to $10 million, I was rotflmao! (rolling on the floor laughing my ass off). Does Tareq realize how ridiculous they look on tv? What dopes, now banished from Bravo thank God.

    • Quincy IL says:

That was a fun visit to fashion week and it didn’t cost me a dime. LOL

I have never had a designer dress. I always buy items on sale. You can look great if you know your style and the colors that look good for you. I can do my own hair and makeup quite well. I know what the latest makeup and hair trend are from women who work in our salons. They go to conferences several times a year. I told my husband that I save him thousands and he told me millions. LOL. I love that guy.

Most people don’t have to post fables in order to impress internet strangers. A woman who is an important as you claim to be wouldn’t be spending all this time on this blog. You must be relieved that no one can check your claims. But NY’ers can see right through you.

I have a weakness for clothes shoes bags & jewlery & hats.
I mostly wear St. John cuz they r stretchy & don’t wrinkle.
I certainly do my own make except when I am on TV & they do it so u look best on TV. I love to go to Bloomies or Saks to the Channel counter & have my make up done then I always buy something. Other than that I use Revelon etc. from the drugstore. I wear cotton Victoria high cut undies & Haines bras from Walmart.

I still wear the suits I scrimped and saved for 25 years ago. The shoulder pads have to get clipped out, and they really have to be dry cleaned by a professional (I learned that the hard way-sigh) but I still get as many compliments on them as I ever did.

I recently saved up and bought a DVF wrap dress. Not too wild because I wanted to wear it for years. NO ONE said a thing! I heard the crickets chirping.

But when I wore a moldy oldy St.John drop waist with a pleated skirt the next day everyone went crazy. go figure.

      • Blue Sky says:

Classic clothes never go out of style. I wear my good clothes for years, some pieces are 20 years old, but still look good! I have a beautiful sweater made in Italy, black with a lovely gold pattern on it. Still looks fantastic, worth every penny I paid for it half price at Nordstrom’s 16 years ago! We need to dress for our specific body type as well. I always bought clothes “a little loose” back in the day, so most of my old business wardrobe still fits.

Now I usually just have to buy new black pants/skirt/shoes, and that’s it…already have all the other pieces to accessorize.

Wasn’t Eddie an Andy Warhol muse. I never met her.In the mid 70s I danced next to Andy at Studio 54.I was not part of the arty crowd & didn’t do drugs. I was involved w/the Jr.committees of 4or5 committee. In fact was a founding member of JR. Parties for Girl Scouts & the Guggenheim. I was also very busy till 40 w/the Jr League. Also served on the board of my college.I was a founding member of one of the now largest Churches in Manhattan.
But I did meet Ultra Violet another Andy Muse & went to her home which was full of art Andy gave her. She became a Mormon & tried to convert me. It was really funny. She gave me the Book of Mormon. She was definitely very eccentric !

Mike Carson, writing on Andrea Rogers’ blog about Salahi’s claim to have MS, is just brilliant (and you could substitute Giudice for Salahi and have basically the same story, minus the claim to a disease):

Earlier this week, perennial famewhores Tareq and Michaele Salahi took to the couches of Fox and Friends to make the “exclusive” announcement that Michaele is not suffering with anorexia but battling Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Leave it to Michaele to come up with yet another ridiculous explanation to mask the obvious, and bonus points to her for being clever in choosing a disease whose initials are the same as her own – it’s easier to remember that way.

The intriguing element to Michaele’s interview is not in what she says, but what she doesn’t say. Watch the interview again and pay very close attention:

For those of you with sharp ears you’ll notice that Michaele never once says that she actually has MS, neither does Tareq. Don’t believe me? Read the transcript:

Gretchen Carlson: I said at the beginning of the interview that Michaele had a major announcement to make exclusively here on “Fox and Friends”, and we’re gonna do that right now. It has to do with your health. One of the other controversies surrounding you is that some of the other Housewives on the show say you’re too thin. What would you like to make the announcement about today?

Michaele Salahi: You know I am uh… don’t deal with anorexic, I’m not an anorexic and um… I’ve never had an eating disorder. But one thing I have kept a secret is for seventeen… (chokes up and stops speaking)

Diane Dimond: This is very emotional for Michaele.

Michaele Salahi: …This is… (pained expression, on the verge of tears, stops speaking again)

    Gretchen Carlson: I’m sorry…

Diane Dimond: Can I jump in?

    Gretchen Carlson: Yes.

Diane Dimond: For seventeen years Michaele has suffered from Multiple Sclerosis. And when I watch “The Real Housewives of DC” and I see this story line (note: at this point Michaele perks up, no tears or traces of tears in her eyes and smiles at Tareq) of them, picking on her frankly – there’s always got to be some one in those casts they pick on and it just happens to be Michaele – “Oh, she’s anorexic. Oh, we have to have an intervention” it keeps the storyline flowing but unfortunately it’s not true. Just like it wasn’t true that they were gatecrashers. She has Multiple Sclerosis.

Michaele Salahi: So I can talk now, sorry Gretchen, I had to get that… (gestures with hands)

    Gretchen Carlson: I understand.

Michaele Salahi: This is the first time I’ve said it publicly. You know my own family, my cousins, a lot of the people dearest to me, my best friend just found out. So it’s something that I kept personal. Uh… and I think a lot of people do with chronic illnesses or, you know, any kind of disease. Whether it’s heart… whatever you deal with. You know, breast cancer. So for me I kept it personal because I never wanted to be judged, never wanted to have pity, and um… I certainly wanted to hold on to my job. And I think, you know, we’re making strides in America every year. But maybe at this time, with the White House and everything that took place, maybe all this happened for a reason and I can do something good to help someone else.

Tareq Salahi: And you know, one thing that Michaele, you know, I’m very proud of Michaele, you know, coming out talking about this, but instead of running and keeping your head in the sand, you know, stay out there, live a life, do whatever. You can have a job.

Michaele Salahi: Because you can have a great life.

Tareq Salahi: You can have a great life.

Michaele Salahi: Yeah, many people do.

Gretchen Carlson: Many people would be shocked to find that out today. Michaele we hope that your health continues heading in the right direction.

    Michaele Salahi: Thank you.

Gretchen Carlson: And we appreciate you telling your story on “Fox and Friends” today Michaele and Tariq. (Gretchen shakes their hands) And Diane Dimond (shakes her hand), my congratulations on the book, “Cirque du Salahi”.

And there you have it, the art of the con in play-by-play format. The lies are obvious but the execution is subtle. Michaele and Tareq have successfully convinced people of the MS claim by never uttering the words themselves. Instead they manipulated (through Michaele’s faked breakdown) Diane Dimond to speak the words and provide the timeline (Michaele just said seventeen, she never said what the measurement was) in a public forum. Once Diane provided the details, Michele perked right up and was as chirpy as a canary on coke while describing her illness in extremely general and vague terminology. She could be speaking of ANY disease yet because we, the audience, heard Diane say that Michaele has MS we believe the lie or at least believe that Michaele made the claim when in reality she didn’t – not on camera anyway. Tareq was also careful to follow the same formula as Michaele when delivering his additional statements about her condition.

As far as we know there are no witnesses, no evidence and no documentation of the claim. Obviously SOMEBODY told Diane Dimond and Gretchen Carlson that Michaele Salahi has MS, but whom we’re not sure as that conversation happened off camera. Without any recorded evidence Tareq and Michaele haven’t technically made any false claims – it’s a minor technicality but important – which leaves them free to claim later that Michaele has a different disease or that they never said Michaele has MS and still technically be telling the truth. You Real Housewives fans out there might remember that Kim Zolciak from Atlanta pulled a similar stunt on the first season reunion show when talking about the mysterious illness that caused her hair to fall out.

It’s brilliant and sick – classic sociopathic behavior – but this is how the art of the con works. A masterful con artist convinces people of the ensnaring lie through detail association and implied meaning rather than direct statement. This enables them to play off a person’s natural tendency to assume and thus create a scenario that the con artist can take advantage of. If pressed about certain details, the con artist can always fall back on the true statement of “I never said that” because in reality they never did, they merely planted pieces of information next to each other that the target logically assembled into the story the con artist wanted them to believe.

Don’t assume however that con artists are above flat out lying, as Michaele and Tareq have so aptly demonstrated – con artists do lie. The ideal method for conning people is to make them fall for the aforementioned technique of deception by logic. When called out on details that were said the con artist will then claim that they never made those claims and that you assumed and jumped to conclusion. In most cases this will make you doubt yourself and be even more vulnerable to the con artist’s next lie because they are now playing on your embarrassment. You’ll pay extra close attention this time so as not to make the same mistake again, not seeing that they will replay the first deceptive routine only this time adding more details and drawing you in further. It’s in this second stage that they are often the most successful in gaining whatever it is that they want out of you. If you still persist in nailing a con artist on details, they will then result to direct lying and verbal evasion as a way of getting out of the situation.

It’s important to recognize these types of subtle cons as they happen all the time in our everyday lives. You don’t have to be a socialite or television personality to encounter people like Tareq and Michaele. Con artists are everywhere from work to personal relationships. Their individual motivations vary but their goal is the same: to take advantage of you as a means of personal gain – be it financially or otherwise.

With regard to Michaele and her “illness,” she doesn’t suffer from MS (Multiple Sclerosis), she suffers from NS (No Shame). In her case it’s the special form of NS known as “Salahi Syndrome” in which the sufferer is incapable of feeling any shame while living in a constant state of hyper delusion and malnourishment. There is unfortunately no cure for “Salahi Syndrome” and what’s even more unfortunate is that while a terminal disease, those suffering from it have a normal life expectancy. The outcome is that these unfortunate blights on society continue to roam free bringing irritation and illegitimacy to all those they make contact with. Way back in the 1800′s people suffering from diseases like “Salahi Syndrome” would have been confined permanently to institutions as a means of protecting them and society. In Tareq and Michaele’s case that is a system that needs to be brought back ASAP!

    • Quincy IL says:

Excuse me, why is having MS such a shameful disease that you can’t tell your dearest friends or your closest relatives? This is such a horrible thing that you don’t tell you own mother? They have to be lying. I thought Michaela had a great relationship with her mom who encouraged her to be talked about for that fame Michaela wanted.

I think they are lying through their teeth.

  117. Had Enough! says:

Holy crap! Apparently MS. Salahi is claiming that the reason she didn’t stay for dinner at the White House is that she had a flare-up of her MS. Seems Tim Gunn was on Access Hollywood and they asked him about the Salahis. Who were, at that moment, waiting at a studio in NY to be on the program next. And Tim (my darling Tim) said that he would say to their faces that they are sociopaths. And the idiot host is sticking up for the Salahis and saying they must have been on the guest list to get in. Tim says the fact that they didn’t stay means that there were no seats for them. The idiot host says no it is because Michaela had a flare-up of her MS.

How convenient. She didn’t have a flare-up all day while she was getting hair and make-up that she didn’t pay for, borrowing jewelry that she didn’t return, etc. And then all the hanging around trying to get in, etc. And THEN THEY GO TO A BAR. Why did she go to a bar if she was having a flare-up of her MS to the point that she had to leave a freaking White House dinner?

    • Quincy IL says:

All they have to do is release her medical records on the MS. It is as simple as that. She won’t release them.

    • butterisafruit says:

I want to strangle this woman. You don’t have flare ups with MS, you have symptoms. My sister has had MS since her late 20’s (she’s 52 now).
A few things that are on going is having to go to the bathrooom. She can have a glass of water one second and need to use the facilities 10 mins. later. Also arthritis is awful. Some weeks she can barely move and needs a cane to walk, then it goes away and she’s fine. However she still has double vision and will sometimes have the slurred speech.
She went into remission when she was pregnant and nursing, then it returned full force. Headaches, aches and pains, weak bladder, vision trouble, speech patterns are ongoing. However she can have a good day, sometimes for a couple of weeks.
You’d think this fake would do some research. There are people in wheelchairs suffering from this.

      • Quincy IL says:

I had a sudden flare up of anger when I heard this excuse.

The two of them seem to be able to slip into events without invitations and lie about buying million dollar homes with ease. I have known sick people, but how do they work together to bring about these lies? When Stacy pushes for documentation to verify their finacial ability to buy a home, they don’t flinch.

I need input from Tim Gunn this morning.

        • butterisafruit says:

Does this advice really need to be pointed out? I can’t believe this is how she makes money.

      • Quincy IL says:

This is a terrible thing to think, but I suspect some of the May/Sept marriages of a model to the tottering great grandfather billionaires/millionaires are business deals. They are contractually arranged with the pre nup and they are easily terminated if a newer model catches the eye of the old geezer. Isn’t that what Jill Zarin advocates when she says that rich is better and looks don’t count. One is a peacock….the other is a turkey buzzard (I added the turkey buzzard for fun.)

Women look for security, men look for “looks.” The falling down experience of chemical attraction lasts about one year. After that, there are lots of reasons for people to stay together.
Money is one of the many reasons.

I’ve seen a lot of marriage come and go. Beware of the ambitious people on the planet. They might step right over you to a better position.

    • Blue Sky says:

      Funny how what she says

so obviously kelly had some radar or google alert about even a split second of exposure. You know she has to know everytime the negative comes out as well, especially here. Talk about denial.

  124. boston02127 says:

    Ashley’s tweets— goldbar tonight… who’s comin ?!

    goldbar with @marykatedenn, @danielleguizio, @laurroll & @kellyelizabeth …&some other people… yeahhhhhhhhh

@drakkardnoir i would love if you were at goldbar with me right now ;]

How does she get in bars? Doesn’t Jacqueline read her tweets?

Also, On the reunion show Jacqueline stated that she’s taken away Ashley’s car, taken the door off her room, grounded her, etc… But she couldn’t stop Ashley from tweeting about or to Danielle.
After the reunion show was taped until it the time it aired (I’m guessing) there must of been two to three weeks of time. It must of killed Ashley when she found out her mother was done fighing and she and Danielle hugged. How did Jacqueline stop Ashley from tweeting the world about that in those weeks?

    • Had Enough! says:

Isn’t Goldbar where that other loser (KooKooLet) hangs out?

Someone should notify NYC liquor control board.

Do you think KooKooLet knows she is 42, not 22?

  125. jean says:

also from the garage sale pix, looked like some blankets or pillows. who would pay to take into their home something that this greasy, filthy looking skank would ever have their hair or skin touch. YUCK. Bed bugs or lice anyone?

Have a good morning everyone. 🙂

  127. They are coming up in the world. Now the classy magazines are calling the girls from NJ trash, too.

    http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/features/2010/10/wolcott-201010

“The message of The Real Housewives is reassuring to snobs and voyeurs: All the expenditure in the world can’t buy you a genuine ounce of class.” This article is a good one.

    • Buffywood says:

Great article, thanks. They only thing that would make it better would be if it had called out Teresa too.

Tonight I am supposed to go to Political fundrasing dinner for Pat Meehan who is running for Congress in PA and NJ Govenor Chris Christie will be there. If given a chance I would like to ask him how he feels about how New Jersey is portrayed by these shows. This Vanity Fair article will be a good talking point.

  128. Olivia says:

I am probably in a very tiny minority here but I kind of feel sorry for the Salahi’s. There is something very wrong with these people and together they make a rather pathetic couple when factoring in the issues that surround them.

Something happened to each one of them somewhere in their lives that would lead them to this level of deception that we see playing out on national t.v. Why would anyone carrying that much baggage agree to have their lives filmed for the sake of “fame” when that fame is based on easily checked fraud that appears to have been part of their existence since long before this show aired?

They are not likable or interesting as people yet they have permitted their lives to be exposed for a purpose that is elusive to me. Unflattering comments and a tissue of lies is what this exposure has managed to portray yet they continue to allow themselves to be interviewed over and over offering little by way of substance but continually offering tissue thin excuses to maintain the image of being something they are not.

I have questioned the latest “revelation” that Michaele suffers from a debilating muscular disease and I have no proof of its veracity but based on what little I know of the symptoms, it just does not add up for me.

Horseback riding. The continual jumping up and down in greeting. Six inch heels. It makes no sense that someone suffering from this disease would be able to take the chance of walking in these shoes without fear of losing balance.

Taken as a whole, their attempt to appear wealthy and socially inclusive is actually very sad. The need to be seen as something other than what they are is more depressing since it invites the ridicule that could have been avoided.

    • Tootsie says:

Thank you Olivia for making us see the other side of the Salahis. They are to be pitied more than hated. But for the grace of God it could be one of us. A sad way to live.

    • SavingGrace says:

I see this a little bit differentl.

I was immediately turned off by the Salahis during Michaele visit on the View where she accused Whoopi of hitting her.

In my heart of hearts I do believe these people are sociopaths. I don’t understand the love that Bravo has for sociopaths as you can find one in almost each housewives franchise. (Kelly, Danielle, Slade, etc)

These people should scare the heck out of us. They should appear on Investigation Discovery’s Channel show called “Wicked Attraction”. They are one step away from Evil.

I know it sounds harsh – just my humble opinion….

      • Olivia says:

“Reality tv” began its full scale invention during the writers strike several years ago. These shows could be made on the “cheap” without having to pay writers for the privilege and they became a staple.

What was needed were people willing to “play along” and it appears in most instances that those they attracted came with some “issues” that over time they were less able to cover up.

Most of these women are “famewhores”. The camera became their BFF as soon as they got a whiff of where that fame could take them. The problem is that most lacked the ability to deal with this phenomenon in their lives as they continued to find more ways to remain relevant.

The issue is that there are more and more of these people willing to sacrifice family, reputation, and self esteem in order to remain in front of the cameras and for them the chance to do so overrides their commonsense.

Next to Teresa, Danielle, Jill, and those who have done damage to others, the Salahi’s seem to have inflicted that unwholesome image on themselves alone.

        • OneMoreinBoston says:

@Olivia! I missed you yesterday- I was afraid you jumped ship and then where would we be?

I do feel a tad bit sorry for Michaela. She is a makeup artist- plain and simple, from the way she dresses, to the way she acts, her foolish name, just her whole presentation.

I know a lot of women like her, not necessarily gold diggers, but highly suggestible and influenced by the man in their life.

now before everyone goes all crazy on me- there are some smart, savvy makeup artists too!

Every profession and industry has a certain “culture”. And for some reason you can be bat shit crazy and be successful in this industry.

      • Buffywood says:

First of all, I LOVE the Investigation Discovery’s Channel. Now that I switched to Verizon Fios this channel has replaced Bravo as the default channel in the background while I am working!

Second, I agree with you. Everyone in the world has something in their past that they need to over come. I don’t understand why as a society we continue to make excuses for bad behavior. What happened to the days when we thought an asshole was just an asshole. It is called personal responsibility. From reading the post posts of the majority of people here, this group as a whole has over come SO much adversity. I don’t see excuses for bad behavior here. I see strong women (and a few men) who are intelligent (but not always “educated” which is even a greater accomplishment), who are caring (and may not have been cared for), and successful (despite economic or disability challenges).

While I can bring myself to pity them, I certainly do not feel hate for them. Maybe we use the term pathetic too much these days because they really do not fit that definition: hapless: deserving or inciting pity; “a hapless victim”. There two are not victims. In truth they are simply “nothing”, void of any substance in my mind.

      • Blue Sky says:

They scare me too, and they all have done lots of harm to others, by not paying for things, almost $11 million for the greedy giudices, and plenty $ for the slimy salahis too. Slade is the ultimate evil grifter – his son has brain cancer, & he does nothing to help him. These people make me physically ill with their shameless grifting & all around disgusting behavior – so I don’t watch most of the Bravo shows anymore, just hang out here wit’ my homies! This is more fun anyway.

    • MAMAZ says:

You’re a better person than I am Olivia. I feel no sympathy for them at all. Well Michaele a little. I can believe that she is controlled by Tareq. He seems like a total sociopath.

Why do people with so many skeltons in their closets parade their lives on a television show? Teresa and Danielle are every bit as bad as the Salahi’s.
I personally believe they don’t care if the truth comes out.

I had a neighbor once who would lie to your face and never blink. Her lies weren’t benign. They involved the actions of her ex husband who was a close friend, the infidelities of other neighbors and even things the neighborhood children supposedly did. She would tell you a whopper and the next day contradict herself. I would politely try to remind her of what she previously said and she would look me straight in the eye and say “I NEVER said that!” I realized she was counting on me being too polite to out and out accuse her of lying. Finally one day I managed to put years of upbringing and social convention behind me and told her I knew she was full of crap and gave her specific examples of her lies and how they hurt people. She looked at me with a patient, sad expression and told me she couldn’t help what I believed and she didn’t understand why I hated her so much. She added that she didn’t hold it against me and hoped we could one day be friends again. I was STUNNED. For the next couple of years that I lived there she continued to smile, wave, even stop over to chat. I had never seen anyone with so little shame in my life! That is until the Housewives franchise.

Just like my neighbor the Salahi’s, Teresa, Danielle, and to a lesser degree KKB and Jill Zarin don’t care if most of us see through them because they know that some of the mud they sling will stick. And there will always be other troublemakers out there who will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the crap they pull and be fans. They will still be famous and get those paychecks.

      • Blue Sky says:

classic socio/psychopath! If she has children, how are they doing being raised by such a scary Mommy dearest? Yikes!

        • MAMAZ says:

Not very well Blue Sky. My daughter was a good friend of her daughter. Even though we moved they still stay in touch a bit. The sweet child I knew is gone. She is jaded, unhappy, needy and I fear following in mommy’s footsteps. Breaks my heart.

    • Had Enough! says:

But they think they ARE likable and interesting. They think they are fabulous. They believe their own lies, and they believe others are too stupid to figure it out. They have an answer for everything.

      • MAMAZ says:

They do have an answer for everything. But my mind just balks at the thought that they believe their own lies. God help us if the world is really full of so many sociopaths! Do you REALLY think so Had Enough? No offense but I hope you’re wrong.

      • Quincy IL says:

I was with my neighbor when her second grade daughter was telling us this huge whopper of a lie/story. My neighbor and I just looked at each other. Small children can’t tell the truth from a lie. Olivia is right. The two Sahlahis were stunted at an early age.

  129. Wall St Lady says:

Had Enough. U should submit an article about the Salami’s to Vanity Fair. U r good girl !
The NS (no shame) vs MS is a classic ! ! !
I remember Bonnie & Clyde were called a couple who were each a sociopath. I think it’s rare to b a couple cus the psycho needs to manipulate.
Any way they we all know of Bonnie & Clyde’s demise.
I hope the Salamis get ambushed outside the White House & a group beats them up w/pillows till they cry for mercy & agree to go to a psych ward for the remainder of their lives !

    • SavingGrace says:

OMG — we were typing our post with the same ideas at the same times.

Yes- Salahi’s are mentally ill people. Where did Bravo find them? I wonder if Bellevue Mental Hospital has a watch list and Bravo uses it to find the casts of the housewives shows.

      • Had Enough! says:

        Funny!

Actually, these crazy people have been posing as DC society for several years now. I am sure that they were first in line when the casting calls went out. Jumping up and down, waving their arms, and yelling me! me! pick me!

    • Olivia says:

It is the fame game. It will be interesting to see how much of Simon we will be getting when the NY franchise opens for business next year.

He resigned his job at the Chandler Hotel after years of service for a career in “social networking”, or whatever that means. If he is filmed in more scenes of the “Housewives” this could also prove his own commitment to “reality tv” stardom.

I am not disproving anyone’s right to make a buck, just that the opportunity to be cast as a “celebrity” trumps anything else in their lives.

      • SavingGrace says:

Ahhh, this explains what is happening to Caroline Manzo.

I liked the way she came off as a woman who loved and took care of her family. She’s opinionated and what not but at least she’s not out there stalking her costars….

Then I saw a pic this weekend of Reality Tea where she is walking down a runway show during Fashion Week. She looked pissed.

Caroline, you are not a model. Why are you doing runway shows? Only one answer – fame, exposure, being a Bravocelebrity.

        Please.

        • Blue Sky says:

She looked awful, IMO. I would respect her more if she would raise $ for charity, use her new faux celebrity for good causes….one can dream.

        • Olivia says:

They are not models, authors, beauty specialists, jewelry designers, or advice givers. Few of them have any marketabe talent whatsover.

What probably started out as a “fun” exercise soon was overridden by the need to be seen and heard, admired, loved, imitated, sought after, and this evolved into a sense of entitlement and arrogance.

Caroline may very well have sold out her soul to be included into this mix of wannabes to her own detriment. They spend an equal amount of time on Facebook and Twitter trying to dispel the image most of us see but they are too blinded by the “lights, camera, action” they hear coming from offstage.

      • Blue Sky says:

Big mistake, he’s putting the welfare of his family at risk IMO. Unless it became impossible for him to do his former job due to his new found “celebrity” he should have kept that steady paycheck.

        • Olivia says:

Simon once commented that most of the scenes he did were filmed on the weekends due to his and Alex’s work schedule which more than likely did not suit Bravo.

She now works from home and with his departure from the hotel it will afford more time for filming. My feeling is that they are both considering a series of their own to come from this and this may be where they are headed.

This was the primary reason that Jon Gosselin resigned his job when filming Jon and Kate. The producers upped the paycheck to cover the loss of his employment in order to be able to film more scenes with his presence.

        • Need a Hobby says:

I read that Simon’s previous employer is now one of his clients.

    • Had Enough! says:

Can’t take credit. That was a blogger on Andrea Roger’s blog.

      • MAMAZ says:

Maybe it’s their handlers, the production crew at Bravo, Andy Cohen, make up and hair people. Maybe they are filling their heads with all this malarkey.
“Oh Jill, you have the best advice, you should write a book “,
“Caroline, you look beautiful in that dress”,
“Danielle, of course the other women want to film with you!”
        “Everyone thinks you’re hilarious Teresa!”,
“No LuAnn, it’s not pretentious to call yourself Countess!”
“Kelly, you are SUCH a trend setter!”
“Simon, those red leather pants are fabulous!”
