I Hate Jill Zarin Real Housewives of DC – Finale Watch What Happens Live
Do you suppose the Salahi’s keep a diary of their lies so that right before they’re interviewed they can go back and check their “notes”? Just the way Jill writes down who owes her and when someone forgets to call her on her birthday, Michaele writes down each story like a …um I don’t know, maybe notes for a future novel? She keeps her notes and refers to them regularly so that they become the only truth in her pretty little Barbie doll head. The facts and the truth are no longer her reality, she’s brainwashed by her notes and her husband.
This couple no doubt skirted the system somehow. There is more to the story, a White House social secretary lost her job and the White House hasn’t officially closed the book on this incident.
Another first for Bravo’s housewives series, we actually see dates on the screen to show us the timeline of events through the aftermath of the gate crashing by the Salahi’s.
Unfortunately this entire episode was simply the reaction of the other housewives to this security breech. The wasted time watching the senate hearings was completely unnecessary, we’ve seen them plead the 5th for every question asked including the question, “are you here now today?” The reaction of Mary, Lynda and Cat was predictable and there was no need for us to see it.
Perhaps not so predictable was Paul Wharton and his two cents. He attempted to support Michaele Salahi while putting the entire blame on Tareq Salahi. As the group watched the senator finally turning his questions to Michaele, Paul seemed to think that this would be the perfect moment for her to disassociate herself with her husband and throw all of the blame on him. Sorry Paul, I hope someday you can get married if only to figure out yourself that Michaele could not possibly have chosen that moment to ask her husband for a divorce. I do love that Paul gave his insight into Lynda who married into money while judging Michaele who did the same yet choses not to wait tables to support herself.
I don’t think she wants to disassociate herself with him anyway, this woman is clearly enjoying the ride this man has introduced her to since marrying him. Whether she is aware of the extent of his sham life that he’s dragged her into is irrelevant, she is there, taking part and living the same faux life that he is living!
This couple seems to think that last night’s episode completely cleared their name and showed that they were, in fact, invited to the White House. We watched as the person at the first checkpoint scrambled in front of the cameras to find their names on the list, best we can tell, their names were not found at this first checkpoint but they were sent through anyway. Possibly this person at the first checkpoint was intimidated and convinced by the cameras and by their wardrobe that the Salahi’s were, in fact, supposed to be there. Hoping that if this were not the case, they would be caught at one of the next four checkpoints?
Many people who have been to the White House have declared that it is impossible to crash the White House based on the stringent security process, yet do not release the Salahi’s as innocent either. Having never been to the White House, I have to assume that this couple knew the process and that those phone calls and emails between them and Michelle Jones, who was later asked to resign her position at the White House, were not sufficient to allow them access to this State Dinner.
I do not think, as the Salahi’s do, that this episode completely cleared their name, if that were the case, why wasn’t this footage released to Congress as they investigated this gate crashing? This is an embarrassment to the United States, to the Secret Service and to President Barak Obama. Not one apology from these two morons, even if they truly think that they did nothing wrong, do they not owe apologies to President Obama, the people of the United States and Cat Ommanney?
As a result of this incident, Cat was uninvited to the White House Christmas Party, an event she was obviously looking forward to and her mere association by way of Bravo was a disaster for the rest of the cast! Cat’s husband is an official White House photographer for Newsweek and was embarrassed by this incident. The White House doesn’t care that this couple weren’t friendly with the Salahi’s, the fact remains that they’re all cast mates. Cat’s husband Charles publically announced that he completely regrets his involvement in this show.
If Lynda, Mary or Stacie had any aspirations of meeting President Obama or being invited to any event at the White House, they can kiss them goodbye! Life is a trade off, they do get to be Bravo Housewives but will never be guests at a White House function. I hope this season was worth it, because a Season Two of this series is still not been confirmed and most likely won’t be confirmed for a while, if at all.
Michaele’s behavior at Stacie and Jason’s home was a bit like a hyperactive rat in a small cage, she was up she was down she was putting her coat on she was flipping out! The fact that she wouldn’t even entertain for one moment telling her “friends” the Turners how she feels and what has gone on is a good indication of guilt in my book. She claims to have been instructed to remain silent by her attorney. Too bad her attorney didn’t tell her not to crash the White House because she listens well to this attorney.
I was disappointed in Jason’s behavior, he was a bit two-faced calling Cat rude after she left the house, and telling the Salahi’s that it was best that she left. Yet after the Salahi’s left he welcomed Cat back in supporting her completely. What was the goal of the Turners inviting the Salahi’s to their home in the first place? They were clearly disgusted by this incident, yet they invited them claiming they were not going to attack the Salahi’s. The Turners were curious, they wanted to discuss what happened, get the Salahi’s side of the story or this was all set up for Bravo’s cameras? It was obvious that Michaele and Tareq were not going to say one word about what happened, even though Jason tells us that it seemed as though Tareq wanted to talk about it, I disagree, he is too calculating and devious to spill it while the cameras were rolling.
The Turner’s had no intention of spending the evening talking about their decor, their trip to Paris or the welcoming fire. They merely brought up the subject of the White House crashing a bit more subtly than Cat did, but they wanted answers just like the rest of the country. Jason was honest enough to tell Tareq Salahi that he had a scarlet letter on his chest and that he has brought shame onto the Salahi name. Having none of it the Salahi’s completely disagree and prepare to leave, since the angry Cat remained out in front of the house talking on the phone with Lynda, the Salahi’s slinked out the back door.
Jason’s parting words to the Salahi’s are “think about what I said” (regarding their shame) which was a bit of a joke, as we know the Salahi’s have no intention of thinking about Jason Turners words or in fact anything that the Turners had to say.
Unlike the other Housewives series, this group is slow to update their blogs and as of this morning, only the one who has something to prove has posted a blog. Michaele takes this final opportunity in her blog to talk about the “incident”, you know , the one that she was instructed not to speak about. The other ladies only posted their blogs about last week’s show a few days ago so they’re running about 5-6 days behind.
The scene including Cat and her husband Charles was uncomfortable, there is tension you can almost see on screen as they discussed the Salahi’s stunt and how it affected Cat and Charles. I doubt that this incident alone ended their marriage, but I’m sure it didn’t help to solidify their relationship. It is clear that Charles is much more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it, and is hesitant to say anything at all while wearing the microphone. It is sad to watch a marriage crumbling.
This was a disappointing series finale as each Housewife gets their obligatory final head shot with verbiage appearing on screen with a final few words revealing, well….nothing.
What an anti-climatic ending to Stacie’s story of the search for her father. We see a few words on the screen telling us that she has spoken to him on the phone and looks forward to meeting him someday. Really? That’s all we get? These damn Salahi’s took over the entire two final episodes and the rest of the housewives were resigned to taking a back seat, becoming second string, supporting cast to these two morons!
After the drama we watched as the Turners searched for Stacie’s birth father, we deserved more than a few words on the screen! It would have been nice to watch the reaction of the Turners when they finally got the information they were looking for and Stacie was able to speak to her father for the first time.
We learned nothing new last night watching this couple walk through one security checkpoint at the White House and clearly unimpressed, the investigation has not yet been closed by the White House. This may be one of those incidents that we never get a clear resolution, it could remain an open but dormant investigation simply because there is no way of resolving this issue. No criminal charges have been brought against the Salahi’s and most likely none will be forthcoming.
The good news is that this couple is still, after over a year, talking about their Winery Oasis re-opening but nothing happening. Tareq Salahi’s father passed away on Wednesday of this week and out of respect for this man’s death, the Salahi’s felt it was appropriate to appear on a cable television talk show hosted by Andy Cohen to discuss a reality television episode.
Watch What Happens Live
The Salahi’s open the supersized show (45 minutes as opposed to the usual 30 minutes) and not until the very end do they even mention Tareq Salahi’s father passing away less than 24 hours prior. Just when you thought that this couple couldn’t embarrass themselves any more than they already have, there they are sitting with Andy Cohen reading them questions off of little blue cards.
Cohen did ask Michaele Salahi about her claim of being a Redskins Cheerleader. She lied once again as she’s already been on Access Hollywood and thankfully Billy Bush has more balls than Andy Cohen and pushed the issue. After several follow up questions about the subject, Michaele finally admitted that she did some marketing and promotional activities for the Redskins Cheerleading organization and then was asked to join the alumni, as a PAYING member. This is something that I could do if I wanted to pay for it, anyone can! This is one of the ways the Cheerleading squad earns money for their expenses, travel, uniforms and incidentals needed by the Cheerleaders that the Redskins organization would rather not incur. As we learned in Chicago, the Honey Bears Cheerleaders were financially unsupported by the football organization and were forced to disband due to lack of funds. I would suspect the Redskins Cheerleaders find ways to raise money to support themselves and this alumni association is one of the ways to support themselves. Michaele Salahi paid for the right to be associated with the Redskins Cheerleaders and I’m sure that until the White House incident the alumni association was happy to have Bravo’s cameras there for added publicity.
Has anyone else noticed that Cohen doesn’t listen to the responses of his guests? As the guest is responding, he is flipping though his blue cards trying to find the next question to ask. Instead of listening and possibly throwing a follow up question or maybe just acknowledging what has been said, he’s on to the next idiotic question. I think they try to find the most inane questions to throw at these people. Not one mention of Michaele’s recent announcement that she suffers from Multiple Sclerosis for the past 17 years or how they feel about the resources the government were forced to use to investigate this situation, how about just an apology to Cat, who was banned from attending the White House Christmas party creating a lot of tension in her marriage? Anyone home Cohen???
Was there an agreement prior to this appearance by the Salahi’s regarding what can and can’t be discussed? Did this couple dictate the terms of this interview? It sure seemed like it! Not one mention of the bombshell dropped just days ago about the MS? That alone tells me that there was a previous discussion about what would and wouldn’t be asked. Why would Bravo and Andy Cohen agree to anything like that? The Salahi’s clearly wanted to be on Watch What Happens Live simply to be able to say that this episode cleared their name.
Personally, I would have much rather watched NeNe for the entire 45 minutes with a short statement made by Andy Cohen at the beginning, it would have gone something like this:
“The Salahi’s were invited here tonight to discuss the series The Real Housewives of DC and their part in the White House incident, however, they refused to discuss certain subjects and Bravo producers decided that we would not agree to their demands. Therefore the Salahi’s refused to appear here tonight”
Seriously, who needed who more last night? The Salahi’s were so desperate to get on television yet again that they appeared on this low rated show the day after they lost an immediate family member.
Michaele Salahi even hinted about another damn book that will provide more information about this White House incident. Really Michaele? Do you think we’re going to believe one word that comes out of your mouth from this point forward?
Apparently they’re also still desperate for money as the Salahi’s tried to sell their autographed photo on Ebay:
On to the fun! NeNe Leakes of the Real Housewives of Atlanta provided the comic relief for the evening, including the outfit that almost dared her breasts to fall right out of that dress. I just wanted to reach through the television screen and yank up that dress to bring her boobs up to the appropriate place on her body.
Attire aside, NeNe, much like Bethenny Frankel tells it like it is and holds nothing back, I absolutely adore that trait in Housewives and in fact all celebrities who appear on talk shows and spills the beans!
Andy Cohen, again, could do a better job of giving his guests a platform but he did attempt to get NeNe to give her true opinion of Kim Zolciak by playing her song, “Google Me” and revealing an old high school photo of Kim.
I honestly think that NeNe and Kim have made a private lifelong pact to not speak ill of each other because NeNe wasn’t biting, but NeNe was quick to talk about her newest nemesis, Phaedra Parks. Calling this new Atlanta housewife “Fakedra” and unladylike, we got confirmation of what we already knew, NeNe is not a fan. Nene tells us that while she did grow up in the same city as Phaedra, they did not attend school together or in fact even know each other back in Athens Georgia. Phaedra implied that the two of them knew one another pretty well in their childhood, NeNe disagrees.
Again Cohen could have explored that a bit more, asked about some of the other cast. I’m curious as to what NeNe thinks of the other newest Atlanta housewife, Cynthia. Reports that NeNe delayed Cynthia’s wedding by demanding hair and makeup prior to appearing at the nuptials could have been discussed. How does NeNe feel about the departure of Lisa Wu Hartwell? Is NeNe’s relationship with Kandi better than last season or does the tension continue into this season?
Rather than testing NeNe’s knowledge of celebrity noses, how about asking what fans want to hear NeNe talk about? Speaking of noses, there wasn’t any question that NeNe had a nose job but I don’t think that she was comfortable with Andy blurting it out that way when she hadn’t publically admitted to having it. Cohen has absolutely no couth or manners here, he throws NeNe to the wolves by catching her off guard with this subject. Yet he walks on egg shells with the Salahi’s?
I don’t think it was appropriate, women who have procedures done to improve their looks, or at least make them feel better about their looks have the right to privacy. Without prior mutual agreement of this topic, Cohen had no right to throw that out there. Even as Andy is asking NeNe to identify celebrity noses, it is clear that she’s uncomfortable and upset with Cohen for this indiscretion. It was completely unnecessary and almost seems as though it was meant to humiliate NeNe and it was uncomfortable for everyone, including the viewer.
We all know that Watch What Happens Live could have come up with some other stupid game for NeNe to play that didn’t involve this sensitive subject. Andy Cohen’s stock just keeps plummeting!
The self-indulgent Cohen chooses to give his Mazel of the Week to the previous jackhole that stole his Buddha statue from his home’s deck. I don’t know about all of you, but I couldn’t care less about a statue that may or may not have been stolen from this man’s back yard. Andy, you are the host and an executive at Bravo, this isn’t about YOU!
The poll this week concluded that 89% of the audience found Michaele Salahi to be plastic rather than fantastic. The most predictable outcome to a poll to date.
We learned that NeNe intends on being an Indian for Halloween, and that next week will include all six of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Watch What Happens Live. Where will they put them all on that tiny stage?
Next Thursday, Bravos lineup will include the first part of the Real Housewives of DC reunion show, the premier of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and another new episode of Watch What Happens Live.
