I Hate Jill Zarin Guest Blog – Quincy IL Tabatha’s Salon Takeover
Thank you Quincy for a GREAT blog!
Tabatha’s Salon Takeover Week Four
Tabatha visits Provincetown, Mass, known as P Town. It’s a lovely vacation village on the ocean. The name of the salon is the West End Salon and Spa and the owner, Douggie, has shtick that drives customers away from the business. The salon makes most of its income in the 16 week summer period. This is a vacation Mecca for gay people and artists so Douggie (57 years old) has created a gay salon. One of the “perks” for customers is a dancing pole in the center of the salon. Customers can save dollars because they dance. This is not popular with the staff or customers. The salon owner, Douggie, asked Tabatha to help him as he is 6 months behind in rent for the salon, 7 months behind in a second mortgage for his home, $32,000 in credit card debt, and works 100 hours a week which affects his health and relationship adversely.
Tabatha is very interested in Douggie’s love life. Douggie has had a 30 year relationship with Jimmie, a disabled man. They would marry if they had the time. Douggie wants to work smarter, not harder.
The camera finds Douggie hawking Dougie dollars on the street trying to brink in business. They advertise reflexology and massages. The motto is, “We will rub you the right way.” Tabatha is not pleased. Nikki a painted lady in the sense that she is painted and a lady also advertises on the street for the salon. Tabatha thinks this is tacky.
A female customer comes up to Robbi, a young stylist, so Robbi offers a spray tan on the street. He brings her into the store to charge her 40 dollars and she complains and leaves. Robbie announces that she is from New Jersey. Tabatha is from New Jersey and she is not pleased.
Tabatha takes the keys from Douggie. She says that “this is bullshit, absolute bullshit.” The appointments are cancelled for one week. Tabatha tells Dougie that this is an incredibly small salon. She finds stained towels, a horrible closet, dirty brush, and double dipping in the wax for hair removal (you don’t want to know where the hair comes from.)
The staff tells Tabatha that there is an element of crisis as Douggie sabout making enough money in the summer because it is very slow in the off season. The staff wants to step up.
Tabatha brings in a lesbian bridal party and the staff attempts to create the hair styles for two brides and a number of brides’ maids. The brides have photos of what they would like, but some of the staff has difficulties in creating those styles. Tabatha admonishes Douggie for the lack of up to date styling. She says that they are stuck in the 1980s.
A UPS shipment of Douggie Dollars for advertising arrives. Tabatha puts on a hat with fake hair and goes out to hawk the dollars and advertise the salon, but people are frightened off. In fact, men are frightened off. Again, Tabatha tells Douggie “to cut the bull shit.”
Tabatha arrives early to find the young Robbie spray tanning himself in the basement of the salon. Tabatha thinks Robbie is too orange. She is shocked that he is hiding in the basement and glad that he was not wearing his normal sock during the tanning.
Tabatha holds a team lunch in a restaurant with actors as waiters. The silverware is dirty, the actors/waiters are rude and don’t serve the team well. One stylist realizes that this is a test. Tabatha wanted them to see how rude they have been to customers. After lunch, they all go to the beach for a surprise wedding between Douggie and Jimmy, who is in a wheelchair. They seem happy and the staff cries.
Later, in the salon, Tabatha is arguing with Robbie again. Robbie is Tabatha’s problem child.
The walls are now blue and there are long, golden silk curtains in the front windows. The theme is seaside salon. The mirrors were refinished and the salon is spotless. There are new pads to stand on, new salon equipment for the stylists, new computer software from Millennium, and a new feeling of hope for the employees. The stripper pole is gone.
The staff immediately gets to work. Sasha, a male stylist, has been consistently excellent and Tabatha is very impressed with his ability. John takes over the management of the salon while Douggie is away. Robbie is trying to change, but still having problems.
Tabatha feels the clients are happy and the staff is really trying. Douggie seems to have listened to Tabatha also. He is going to trust the staff and let John help him manage the salon.
Six Week Check Up
Tabatha comes back to find that the staff is unhappy. Their best stylist, Sasha, left because of differences with the management of Douggie. Douggie is back to his same shtick, which Tabatha does not like. Robbie is trying and that pleases Tabatha. The salon is not doing as well as Tabatha expected.
Thank you Quincy for a great recap, as always of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover!
Great News! It seems the judge in the Giudice case has held Juicy Joe responsible, take a look:
Most of my fellow bloggers have taken a holiday break, but don’t forget to check out our friends over at TVTime101:
and our very own Mickey Mouth:
This is a fan photo site that has a lot of photos of Alex McCord of The Real Housewives of New York, I hadn’t seen many of these before and it looks like some of the photos may have been taken during filming, They may be old photos, I could be wrong but her cast mates are in some of the photos:
The same site has over 100 photos of Kelly Bensimon, if you can take that much Kelly, I still have to wonder who follows her everywhere she goes taking these photos of her that she tweets everyday or at the beach taking dozens of photos of her in the same bikini:
Here’s a short blurb about Bethenny with a photo:
For all of you who can’t get enough Jill Zarin, she’ll be on “Its Me Or The Dog” on Animal Planet this Saturday:
I also ran across an article Jill wrote about how to discipline your child, if you’d rather not check it out, I understand, here is one portion:
Jill Zarin: “The punishment needs to fit the crime. So if they’ve made a mess of their room, DON’T threaten to leave them behind when you take a family vacation. That’s HUGE and it will hurt all of you, to enforce it.”
Is this from experience? Who the hell would threaten to leave a child behind when going on a family vacation? If this article is representative of what is in her book, I can see why she got so many negative reviews. You can read the whole article here:
I’m really missing Real Old Housewife and Real City Housewive’s blogs, they’re taking a much deserved break but I hope they’ll be back soon!
Just before Christmas I posted about a very popular blogger, The Blogess, who started an offer to help people around the holidays by sending gift cards at her own expense to those in need, it snowballed into a really amazing event right before my eyes as the gift cards that she offered ran out so quickly, some of her readers offered to donate more gift cards to help even more people…Huffington Post picked up the story, its worth a read:
My latest in the “Profile of a Housewife” series is posted on my Yahoo Associate Content site – Jill Zarin is profiled and you can read it here:
