Million Dollar Listing Week 3 By Quincy IL
Madison has a meeting with Imir where they discuss the offer made last week. Imir demands that a vintage white car and the furniture be sold with the house at a price lower than listed. The agent, Bert, representing the seller speaks to the seller several times. The house has 3 bedrooms, 3 ½ baths, a pool and an amazing kitchen. It is located in the Hollywood Hills with a spectacular view. Imir orders Madison to “do it now!” Madison warns him that negotiations sometimes fall apart and that the price is important. Imir tells him $2, 100,000 for the house, the furniture and the car. Madison begins to question Imir. Imir tells Madison, “You are not buying this house.
Josh Altman kisses his dogs goodbye. He is dressed in a suit and tie with black shiny shoes. He likes his style. He meets Mauricio Umansky, the husband of Kyle Richards from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” in Kyle’s kitchen for melon, strawberries and coffee. Both men take multiple phone calls and are not talking to each other about the house that Mauricio wants to share for 50% commission, 50% expenses, and 50% work time. A final call comes on Josh A’s phone and it is his mom. They make a deal.
Josh Flagg meets his mom at Petrossian Restaurant to test his knowledge of caviar. They try several types and his mother can taste the difference between farm grown and foreign. Josh F can not. Josh blames his mom for his state of being “a son of a bitch.” Josh receives a call from Elizabeth Harandi, a former neighbor. She has a house that she wants to sell. Josh’s mom sees some caviar in his teeth and she tells him to “come here” while she uses her finger to take the caviar away.
Madison meets with Bert to discuss the sale of a house to Imir. Burt says the price is $2,300,000 and the car is not for sale. Madison pushes Imir to $2,100,000 for the house with furniture and no car. The home owner moves to $2,200,000 and the deal falls apart. Madison looks shocked. Imir then blames Madison who says the buy might still sell in a couple of days, but Imir fires Madison saying, “Why do I need you if I have to pay the full price.”
Josh F discusses a home of a friend. The house is 2,348 sq ft and completely renovated. There are 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, “a sleek Italian kitchen” with hidden ventilation. There are city and canyon views. The master bath has a sunken tub with a huge glass shower. Former neighbors were Kenny Rodgers and Gypsy Rose Lee. Susan Sommers lives in Gypsy’s house now. Josh F accepts the $3,100,000 that the friend wants to list at, but makes sure that she understands that the price should be $2,995,000.
Madison is at the Malibu beach and we see sea gulls. He has a new client Dr. Shaw. This is George Forman’s old house which was gutted and rebuilt. It is 5,218 ft sq, has an open kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths and privacy. The range for the price will be $5.500, 000 to $6,000,000. The commission would be $170,850.
Josh A is getting dressed in a suit again for the open house for Mauricio Umansky’s client. He is nervous because this is a huge deal. The house is 3,772 sq ft, located in the Hollywood Hills, 4 bedrooms, 7 baths, a guest house, an infinity pool. The own is there for the showing, which no one is enthusiastic about other than the owner. It is a well known house and designer. Josh A has advertised and he is worried that the broker’s showing might be a failure. In time, agents come in and they love the house. They all have to wear booties to protect the floors. Mauricio shows up half way through the open house and the owner says, “Your guy Josh is doing a great job. I really like him.”
Josh F meets with Grandma Edith who suggests that Josh F hire her assistant because he does not answer the phone when she calls him. He agrees that an assistant is a good idea, but he tells us he will acquire an unpaid intern. He interviews several candidates and “hires” twin blond girls who are smart and are willing to work in order to learn about real estate in Beverly Hills.
Madison has an open house at the Malibu beach front house. The weather is perfect. He
Is going to feed people so they remember the house and he has giant cookies. The price is $5,500,000. It is 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. Madison meets someone he knows who is going through a divorce and that means Madison might get another house listing. Later, Madison visits a friend for a small dinner party to meet someone that he might date. The two men look alike and dress alike, but Madison is still fretting over her ex partner.
Shelly, his friend, tells Madison, “to buck up buttercup.”
Josh A and Mikey arrive at the Sierra Mar property which is a listing of Mauricio Umansky. The listing price is $8, 995,000. A woman is interesting in leasing the property for $50,000 per month. Josh A and Mauricio meet with the owner and tell him that leasing is a good idea as the market should be better next years. Mauricio touches the man’s shoulder to reassure him. He accepts the lease for one year at $600,000.
Thank you Quincy for this great recap of the LA boys, Josh, Josh and Madison.
Here is a book review of Cat Ommanney’s book, Inbox Full by our very own Vincent C. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Inbox Full by Cat Ommanney a Review- written by Vincent Cosentino
Inbox was full was a dynamic memoir filled with many adventures and wild escapades all based on one fascinating woman, Catherine Ashley! The memoir was absolutely riveting, and it was quite difficult to cease reading. Cat had everything that she had ever wished for; a house by the sea on an Island off the coast of Spain filled with sunshine, a devoted husband and father, and the solitude of living in peace. Yet, several moments of eye contact with a Swiss banker, in a restaurant abroad in the United Kingdom, had changed her life forever.
These moments lead a journey to her heart and forced her to ponder whether she remains complaisant to her husband, family and friends, or to completely change her life.
Months of ambivalence had taken a toll on the issue, and she decided to follow her heart, and she made the decision based what was best for her and her two loving daughters. All that had ensued demonstrated the true nature of what Cat was made of as she battled hardships; living as a single mother in London whilst supporting her daughters financially and emotionally, and simultaneously trying to have some sort of social life with some of her gentleman callers.
A fascinating aspect of the memoir was that it enabled its readers to travel abroad with Cat! A plethora of destinations were traveled to, which included Spain, France, Italia, Thailand, Dubai, Switzerland, The United States, Barbados, and of course, the Peruvian Amazonian Jungle where she had participated in a ritual to release the past.
Cat’s memoir is something that everyone can relate to because it mainly discusses her relationship problems, and that is something quite universal. We all have hopes and dreams for ourselves. Sometimes they work out for us, and some of them shatter right before our own eyes. We are all looking to find love and happiness, and Cat has demonstrated that it may come in the price of emotional turmoil; nevertheless, freedom is an important theme to ponder, and subsequently, rebirth as well.
Rebirth is depicted in the novel through a variety of experiences, and Cat has always managed to start fresh and anew after each tumultuous episode, and yet I am certain that the light that shines in her, shines even brighter due to her trials, tribulations, and tests of faith. A beautifully written memoir- 5 Stars!
