I Hate Jill Zarin Tabatha’s Salon Takeover / Watch What Happens Live
Thank you to Quincy for her final recap this season of Tabatha’s show. Quincy has recapped TST all season and has done a fantastic job, today is no exception.
Tabatha’s Salon Takeover Finale by Quincy IL
Tabatha visits four salons from Season One and Season Two to see if they have been following through with her recommendations. Tabatha hopes that she does not have to take them over again.
Tantrum in Covina, California
This salon was owned by Robert (14 years experience) and Jodie (12 year of experience) who is the mother of two small children. Jodie has been at home for extended periods of time since the birth of her children.
The salon was filthy and there was a cockroach infestation. During the surveillance time; Marjorie, Robert’s sister and their receptionist, showed a cockroach to several of the customers in the salon. Robert and Marjorie were gum chewers. Tabatha made them spit their gum out into her hand. Tabatha also caught Marjorie eating at the front desk which is not acceptable to Tabatha. Tabatha felt that Robert “walked around like a chicken without its head.” Robert called Tabatha a “bitch.”
Tabatha helped the stylists and showed Roberto how to organize his office with a new computer system and files.
Tabatha had a discussion with Jodie. Tabatha told Jodie that she could have it all. She could manage the salon and raise her children. Jodie did not this she could do it so she asked to be a stylist and wanted to walk away from ownership.
A year later, Tabatha returned to find the salon very busy and clean. The salon was throwing a cut-a-thon for charity to honor the wife of the mayor who had passed away. They were going to cut the hair of 300 people who had financial needs. There was a party atmosphere with balloons.
Jodie had gone home a year ago and her family wanted her to continue ownership of the salon. She was responsible for paying bills and the payroll. This was a balance that both owners felt comfortable with. Robert has “a sense of accomplishment.” Tabatha felt “he had done an amazing job.”
The mayor arrived and gave Tabatha the keys to the city of Covina. This was the first time anyone had received that honor. Tabatha was so proud of all of the stylists and owners.
Chicago Male in Boys Town, Chicago, Illinois
Tabatha’s issue with this salon was its business model. They only would serve men and the time allowed for a hair cut and style was 30 minutes. Scott, the owner, had never owned a hair salon before Chicago Male. Scott was an absentee owner and the staff was left unsupervised most of the week.
The salon was filthy and the stylists double dipped into their wax so one customer would get wax with the pubic hairs of another customer. The clients that Tabatha brought in were drag queens and the stylists had some difficulties in cutting and styling. The owner remained resistant to allowing women to become clients. There were no education classes and the stylists were in need of instruction.
Tabatha recommended that Rich become the Director of Education and that Drew, a stylist with limited abilities step down from his position and be retrained. The stylists had to be motivated. The salon needed to be marketed.
Tabatha was disappointed that Scott had maintained his business model. He had hired one female stylist, but only one female per day would come into the salon. Tabatha wanted the key again and to take over Chicago Male a second time. The name, Chicago Male, was the problem. The owner did not wish to change so Tabatha did not know if he would be successful.
Refuge Salon in Silver Lake, Colorado
Miriam, the owner, was Amish. She had never owned a business and she dressed like a non Amish person and had liquor in the salon. She was actually being paid in Vodka by a customer. She had two small children at home to support. When Tabatha first visited Refuge, the rent was unpaid and the stylists were owed, 3,000.
Tabatha tried to find new revenue and had made arrangements for the stylists to create modern hairstyles for a rock band. Miriam failed to make the clients happy so Tabatha had to complete the styling. Tabatha had the owner return to a salon with a large “going out of business” sign. That upset Miriam and the staff. They told Tabatha that they would try harder.
When Tabatha returned after a year, the salon had a for rent sign on the window. Tabatha started walking down the street to find the former owner and some of the stylists. Tabatha found Miriam at a larger facility. Miriam claimed to be successful and that she was buying six buildings. She claimed she had started a beauty school. Miriam said she had earned 250,000 dollars cutting hair, but Tabatha did not believe her. Miriam was also throwing “A White Trash” event with women wrestling in cream corn. Tabatha rolled her eyes at that concept. Tabatha said this was “a crock of shit.”
Tabatha found a smaller salon belonging to one of the former employees of Refuge who had had great difficulty with time management when Tabatha first met her. The stylists said that the landlord had closed Refuge down. They thought Miriam was a liar and no one wanted to work for her. They had taken Tabatha’s recommendations and were doing well on their own. Tabatha noticed the building that Miriam said she owned had “a for sale sign” on the wall.
Martino in South New Jersey
Tabatha went to South New Jersey to meet with Martino the owner of the salon. Martino spent money on expensive cars, a big house, and fancy clothes. The money came from a second mortgage on his home. Tabatha called Martino, “a Play boy.”
The salon was filthy. There was hair in brushes. There was filth and a stench. The stylists had a bad attitude. Martino said, “This woman is such a bitch that I can’t stand her.” Tabatha told Martino that, “I am going to whack you over your head.” Tabatha told Martino to get rid of one of his expensive cars and use the money to build his business. She helped him organize his office and to manage the salon and stylists. At the end, Martino kissed Tabatha.
After a year, Tabatha returned and found Martino a changed person. His stylists said that he was calm, but he still had his moments. The place looked great. Martino had a surprise for Tabatha. He got down on one knee and offered her a diamond ring and marriage. Tabatha took the diamond, but said not to the offer of marriage. She had a great time wearing that gorgeous diamond.
The business had a 98% client retention rate. They had added three additional stations with stylists. The income was up 56% and the total gross income was 2,000,000. Martino had not gone back to the credit cards that Tabatha made him cut up. Tabatha was truly proud of Marino and his staff.
Thanks again Quincy, Great Job!!!
They ended the show with a hysterical group of clips of people doing the one thing that Tabatha hates, hugging her. It was really great watching her attempt to dodge hugs.
I will miss Tabatha’s show, the season flew by quickly. This is a great show and last night Tabatha returned to some salon’s that she had taken over during past seasons. Fascinating. Tabatha talked about this episode during her interview with me that she did before the season started, you can listen to it here:

Andy Cohen welcomes Kandi Burress and Phaedra Parks
I have to say first off that Kandi looks amazing! Her hair was sleek and mature and she was all put together.
On the other hand, Phaedra looked like she had just come from Studio 54, in 1987. She wore a hot pink one shoulder number that did nothing for her, add to that the hair swooped over to cover one eye making her resemble a pirate in a cocktail dress. An ugly cocktail dress that looked cheap worn by a woman who told us she was rich.
Sorry Phaedra, if you say, “I’m rich” you’re probably not and if you say, “I’m classy because I eat foie gras” but the fact is you don’t pronounce it properly, you’re probably not. Oh, and your husband is no Martha Stuart. Sorry, I had to throw that in.
Cohen opens by asking Phaedra about her plan to open a funeral parlor and she repeats what she said on the Reunion Show just in case anyone still doubted just how stupid she is, “the clients don’t complain”. Apparently Phaedra believes that a dead person will be making the arrangements for their own funeral and writing the check to her funeral home. She thinks that her entertainment clients complain when they’re being busted for smoking weed? Wait until she has to deal with a grieving family who are arguing over the estate.
Phaedra said that some of her friends had passed away giving her the idea to open a funeral business, I’m sure her deceased friends are happy they could help. Good luck with that Phaedra.
Andy continues to be obsessed but his top three obsessions this week are:
1. Atlanta’s “Tardy For The Party” controversy. A seemingly simple question for Kim asked at the reunion, “Do you think you were more valuable to the process than Kandi?” Kim never answered the question even after Andy asked it three times even wording it differently the third time. Kim‘s response, “she can have all the money” Is Kim hard of hearing? Andy’ follow up question to Kandi asked if she had gotten any of the money, the doormat….er Kandi said she hadn’t, no surprise there. Kandi went on to defend Kim saying that she did mention it on the phone once and Kim had been on vacation. I’m no longer feeling bad for Kandi, she needs to stand up to Kim and get her damn money!
2. Andy’s new tradition at the reunion filming is to choose his favorite pair of shoes out of all the housewives. You can see this clip on BravoTV.com. It is a bit irritating when they recycle footage that is on the web site and show it again, but there you have it, Phaedra wins. Yet Phaedra isn’t in her shoes, she was apparently in the bathroom getting sick due to some bad food that she’d eaten. I’m sure it wasn’t from a can.
3. Finally, Cohen plays a clip from the newest Housewives series. Not interested.
Kandi was asked why she didn’t you stick up for Sweetie as NeNe called her a slave? Kandi took both sides as she claimed on the show that Kim shouldn’t speak to Sweetie that way, while sitting with NeNe, she said “you can’t talk to black women that way” yet sitting with Cohen in the Clubhouse Kandi said that Sweetie is a grown woman. Kandi said that she doesn’t feel offended because she understands their relationship, they have all gone on vacations together, and Kim and Sweetie talk trash to each other all the time.
I like Kandi but she’s a walking contradiction. I would love to see her stand up to Kim. I understand wanting to allow the attorney’s to deal with the new song, but when it comes to Tardy For The Party, that was all a verbal agreement and Kandi simply needs to demand her money from Kim and if she doesn’t then she doesn’t deserve it.
Kandi’s girls were on display leading Andy to ask her if she’s had work done on her breasts. I’m over all this plastic surgery questioning, personally I don’t care if she had or hadn’t had breast implants I just wish Andy would STOP asking that nonsense!
Both ladies were asked for their opinion about NeNe and why she seems so very angry these days, and why she was so far removed from the rest of the ladies, Phaedra quietly said that NeNe needs some bran. Hysterical!
Kandi tried to make it seem like no big deal stating that Kim and Sheree were friends and NeNe and Cynthia were friends and there was tension there. I goes well beyond that because both Kandi and Phaedra also had issues with NeNe and while Cynthia and NeNe were “cool” Cynthia didn’t have issues with the other ladies the way NeNe did. Kandi tried to simplify things but I wasn’t buying it at all. I thought we’d covered the pre-nuptial nonsense on the Reunion show but Cohen brought it up again so that we could hear Phaedra tell viewers that she’s rich and a smart business-woman. Of course she has a pre-nup, not simply because Apollo is an ex-con but she’d have one with any man she married. Tell us again how rich you are Phaedra, then watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills…ok?
I would love to meet the intern on WWHL who comes up with these cheezy games that they play. Tonight was “Pin the Tail on the Donkey Booty“. As Kandi and Phaedra give us their expert opinion on celebrity butts, then try to identify who belongs to each booty. Genius!
Tonight’s poll asked simply, Who’s side are you on? Kim or NeNe? Not surprisingly, Kim won with 68% of the vote.
As the show aired, apparently NeNe tweeted that Phaedra is 40 years old but is acting 20. It is clear that NeNe can’t control her anger and hatred of her cast mates. I think she should probably have turned the channel and watched Bear Gryllis surviving in the wild on The Discovery Channel or maybe an episode of Cops instead of watching her cast mates talking to Andy Cohen.
Andy announced that you can get a FREE ringtone of the WWHL theme song performed by Jenny of Flipping Out by simply texting Andy411 to 27286. Bravo is giving away something for free people, take advantage of it!
Kandi managed to get in a plug for her store Tags, as a viewer asked Phaedra about her nail color, apparently the salon who did Phaedra’s nails is right next door to Kandi’s clothing store.
Andy’s three wishes tonight:
1. Drunk baby video that Cohen found funny.
2. Andy asked that people stop saying #Fail on the social networks. Apparently it annoys him and he added that it was rude. I’m not going to comment on whether or not it is rude, but it is a way of expressing distaste or disappointment in something, apparently Andy gets a lot of #Fail Tweets. Maybe it’s time to listen to viewers Cohen?
3. Finally Andy hopes that deceased writer, Perry Moore who wrote a book called Hero about a gay Superhero will continue to inspires kids.
Thanks to Harvey for this interesting interview with Mr. Andy Cohen:
I’m working on my latest Portrait of a Housewife, this time, New Jersey Housewife, Jacqueline Laurita will be featured, that should be available later today, I’ll post the link as soon as it is published.
In the meantime if you’d like to read any of my other portraits, they are available here:

Some of these were written some time ago and admittedly my opinion of some of these housewives have changed as time has gone by. Specifically, Camille Grammer has managed to change my mind about her.
Lisa Vanderpump actually commented on her Portrait, quite an honor!
Until Next Time….
