I Hate Jill Zarin The Real Housewives of New York Preview

Real Housewives of New York   Preview Season Four

Three weeks and counting until Bravo will begin to air The Real Housewives of New York.

So much is already known about this upcoming season, more than Bravo wanted us to know for sure!  The trip to Morocco was not supposed to be common knowledge yet someone tipped off the press to be at the airport in New York to waive good bye to the Housewives as they boarded their flight to Morocco.

Photos were found by our very own Quincy that seemed to be buried under the rubble of Housewives news showing Alex and Simon seemingly renewing their vows on Governor’s Island.  Did it happen?  Maybe, maybe not?

At the end of last season, Alex found her voice.  She became outspoken and decided she wasn’t going to suffer in silence when the other housewives verbally attacked.  It seems this season Alex’s new voice gets her kicked out of Sonja’s home and told by LuAnn to “Zip it”.  I guess the other housewives wish Alex would have remained silent.

There is a scene at a wedding where Alex confronts Jill about Jill’s attempts to find out whether or not Alex will be attending the wedding.  It seems Jill called the bride and Ramona in an attempt to find out if she’ll be running into Alex at this wedding.  Alex seemed to think that Jill knew that Alex would be there as apparently they had discussed it previously.  Here’s my issue with that confrontation, Alex really needs to choose her battles with Jill.  This seemed a bit petty and desperate as Alex was attempting to call Jill out over a few phone calls.  Was this just an attempt to create a conflict for the cameras?  Did Alex really care that Jill was calling around to find out if Alex would be at this wedding?  It would have been more affective, in my opinion, if Alex had simply quietly enjoyed the fact that Jill cared so much about Alex’s social schedule.

Alex get’s reprimanded a few times in the previews by none other than Ms. Manners, LuAnn de Lesseps.  For whatever reason LuAnn feels it necessary to make herself relevant by putting Alex down and trying to make her feel extraneous and inconsequential.  Typical Luann, she certainly hasn’t changed.  She lost a husband and gained Jill’s mean girl attitude.

I think that LuAnn is a bit jealous of Alex, Alex is young and has a new modeling contract while LuAnn isn’t seeing modeling offers rolling in anymore.
LuAnn has a new boyfriend!  I don’t think we even got to hear the guy speak last season as he was introduced in one of the final episodes.  I think we’ll learn more about him and what he sees in LuAnn this season.

We have also learned through the rumor reports that she’s having a bit of trouble with her teenage daughter smoking pot and using foul language, will the problems LuAnn is facing raising a troubled teen make it to screen?  In all honesty, I hope not, I didn’t agree with it when Laurie did it on the OC or seeing the horrible behavior of Lynne Curtain’s daughters.  I do think that LuAnn has enough sense to somehow insist that these issues with her daughter, Victoria do not make it to air.

Ramona is renewed, right?  Well we do see Ramona being inappropriate with some potential employees that she is interviewing.  I think the idea is for these young ladies to help around the office, answer phones, filing, etc.  Does their attire or skin condition affect their ability to do that job?  Why is Ramona commenting on those things during an interview?

Sonja has changed, I think that Sonja has Second Season Syndrome.  As we’ve seen with so many housewives in the past, by Season two they’ve become cocky and arrogant and a bit full of themselves.  Sonja already had a bit of that going on, she did a whole lot of bragging about what she “used” to have when married to a very wealthy man.  Since her divorce she’s filed bankruptcy and been charged with DUI in The Hampton’s.

Watching Sonja on Rachel Ray seems to show that she’s become a bit “affected” and she is not herself anymore.  I was sorry to see the change in Sonja, I really thought that she would be the same Sonja, if any housewife could remain the same and remain a favorite in our hearts, it would be Sonja, right?  I hope so but I’m afraid I’m getting a whole new vibe from Sonja.  I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Side Note:   Look for the dress Sonja’s wearing on Rachel’s show to appear a few other times on RHONY.

You can view Sonja’s appearance on Rachel Ray here:http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/videos/category/celeb-friends/view/43/4031/

There is a new girl, Cindy Barshop has joined the cast, no secret there.  Cindy has twin daughters, Zoë and Jessie, still toddlers while filming will most likely not be on the show too much.  She’s the owner of a chain of spa/salon’s where she is famous for bedazzling the vajayjay of several celebrities.  Cindy filmed a “Crib” video for Bravo giving viewers a tour of her New York home, you can view that here:

I wasn’t impressed by the tour of her home, it is beautiful, but as they panned through her closet she was sure to point out the designer shoes, naming McCartney and Choo in particular.  It is always more affective to remain silent, as most people with a little bit of class know.  Many can spot designer shoes at 50 paces but if you can’t, you probably don’t care that much.   She also mentioned at least three times that she is in “the big city” and they do things this way in “the big city”.  What is it about New Yorkers having to brag about living in New York?  They seem to think that everyone wants to live in New York and we should all envy them because they get to live there.  I recently learned that I love New York but I still love my city better and I’ll bet many of you feel the same about your home town.

RHONY Brunettes

We know that Cindy is part of the “Brunette’s” aligning her with team Jill, LuAnn and Kelly.  That alone says a lot, Cindy has been described as “whiney”, apparently she moans and complains a lot.

Another annoying New Yorker who does that a lot is none other than Jill Zarin, how many times has she said, “only in New York”.  Every time she says that I want to vomit, guess what Jill Zarin, New York isn’t the only amazing city in the country.  More importantly we’re not jealous of you because you live in New York!  Get over yourself.

What can we expect from Jill Zarin this season?  We see in the preview Jill stating, “I can change, I have changed.”  Has Jill Changed?  What are some of the things that we wanted Jill to change?  I would probably be satisfied that Jill had changed if she would get along with people, be nice, stop manipulating cast mates and being so cruel to everyone.  I think it actually could all be boiled down to “Be Nice Jill Zarin”.

Rumor has it that Jill hasn’t let the Bethenny thing go, she’s still talking about her “fake” friendship with Bethenny, yet she claims to have shed many tears over losing Bethenny as a friend.  Which is it Jill?

Her antics with the press, not only planting negative stories about people she doesn’t like but trying to get a radio personality to post a positive review of her book is a good example.  When her request was turned down, Jill suggested that the radio personality have her boyfriend do it or she use a fake name.

Jill sent a story along with photos to several media outlets of her shopping with her daughter, in her arrogance she expected them to be thrilled to get this “scoop” directly from Jill Zarin and post it immediately.  The good news is the media outlet posted Jill’s entire email including her instructions on posting the story.

These are the kinds of “off air” things that Jill does and I’m certain we don’t hear about all of them.  We know she has contacts in the media that she feeds stories to, how often does Jill do that and we never hear about it?

Has Jill changed?  Did she begin filming for Bravo’s new season of The Real Housewives of New York without any issues about filming with Alex McCord?  Clearly Bravo producers didn’t concern themselves with Jill’s threat to leave the show if Alex remained on the cast.

Jill Zarin thought she should be on Inside The Actors Studio with James Lipton:

This has absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming season but it never ceases to make me laugh.

What have we seen of this season so far?  Jill was gossiping with two unknown women about Ramona and Alex wearing white (cream) to a wedding.  I have heard that wearing white to a wedding is inappropriate, however, this seemed to be an outdoor garden wedding in the middle of the summer.  I personally didn’t see anything wrong with what Ramona and Alex wore in the previews.  I’d like to know what the bride thought.  In any case, it wasn’t for Jill to be talking behind their backs and then smile and greet them when they appeared in front of her.  Why not tell them directly what you thought of their attire? Or even better, keep your mouth shut!

*Peggy Post director of the Emily Post Institute and columnist at Good Housekeeping said, “yes, you can wear white just as long as it doesn’t look remotely bridal”.

*WeddingChannel.com says:  since the popularization of the white wedding dress in the mid-19th century, women have avoided wearing white to a wedding, so that the bride might uniquely shine in her white wedding gown. While this rule, like the “no black dresses” rule, has since been rejected, a female guest should select carefully if she opts to wear white. Be careful to not select anything that might cause anyone to mistake you for the bride.

Jill tells us that there is absolutely no reason for anyone to be worried about Kelly.  As Kelly makes snow angels in the sand and continues with her odd behavior, Jill’s comment is a concern right there, and I have to disagree with Jill.  Jill may still be trying to cover her mistake from last season of abandoning Kelly as she was escorted off of St. John after her breakdown.
We see Jill attempt to apologize to Alex and explain the importance of Alex accepting the apology, then we see Jill screaming at Ramona in several more scenes after that.  Best we can tell it is Ramona’s party and Jill tells Ramona she has no class.   Should Jill be the judge of that?

In addition to the three preview video’s, Bravo has posted photos from Season Four:

In the preview clip, Jill Zarin yells crying, “this is not what I wanted”.  Quincy’s take on things:

I saw the clip. I don’t think anyone knows what she is addressing other than the reality stars and Bravo.

They say that they started filming Sept 28. Jill and Bobby were on a trip to Australia at that point. Then we found out that earlier, a late summer party at Jill’s rented Hampton’s house on the beach was filmed for the show. Wikipedia has a description of episode one. Jill invited Bethenny and Bethenny said, “No.” Something happens in the discussion of this issue at the party. Ramona and Kelly go for a walk on the beach to discuss it. The clip of Kelly making a sand angel shows a small dog that looks like Ramona’s dog so that clip may be from that walk. Ramona and Kelly discuss Bethenny on that walk.

My thought is someone talked to Bobby about Jill’s behaviors. My own guess is that person was Simon. I have an online article that sounds like Jill gave the information as she is quoted. Then, the statement is made that a “housewife” came between her and Bobby.

In the clip from bravotv.com where Ramona throws herself on the bed, Jill demands and apology. I think that Ramona joined in with Simon against Jill. Ramona has stood up to Jill from day one, but Ramona only stand tall for a while and then she retreats under Jill’s cannon fire.

We all remember the vile comment that Jill made about Alex’s photograph and Simon’s hotel hall way. Is it a coincidence that Simon left that job weeks after the reunion aired, but had a Augh 26th date that he officially left the employment for a Internet media position that seems to mean his is able to twitter all day long and be filmed by Bravo and bravotv.com for a web series?

I think Jill finally got her wish. She had Simon fired. She tried with the falling down drunk comment in the beginning of season two with the article in “Page Six.”

I think the cast members blame Jill for Bethenny leaving the show. Jill will want to say that Bethenny left because of Kelly on Scary Island. I think Ramona, Alex and Bethenny think that Jill was manipulating Kelly behind the scenes with those phone calls and telling Kelly that she shouldn’t go without the protection of Jill. I have a feeling that Ramona says what they were thinking and what a lot of us think about Jill and Kelly’s relationship.

Remember that the reunion aired in July and this party happed a couple of months later. There was little to no interaction between cast member in those two months. Ramona tweeted that she had had a 30 minute conversation with Jill at one point. Remember too that Simon and Alex the after book signing party with members of this blog. Jill in incensed by the name of this blog, yet Alex and Simon had fun with people were the anti Team Jill leader who writes this blog.

Cindy Barstop says that the battle is between the blonds and the brunettes, but I don’ think she includes herself. I think she tried to say that the pecking order is wrong. The Countess and Sonja are out there already saying that the pecking order is the way it is. At one point, Jill has a fight with Cindy. My guess is Cindy sees what is going on and she says this is wrong. That sends Jill Zarin in to a rage. How could a new person say anything to Jill Zarin? My guess is this is the way Jill Zarin will react.

I know for a fact that Jill wanted this season to return to the light comedy of season one. She states that in a taped interview where she also discusses her real estate genius in Las Vegas where you can make money unlike real estate in Manhattan. I think the feeling of Alex are not addressed by a simply, “I am sorry,” from Jill Zarin. Jill Zarin likes to wipe the slate clean when it comes to her past actions. If she says, “I am sorry,” at Sachs, that is a slate wiping event.

When you have taken the hits that Simon and Alex have taken, you probably want a degree of revenge. They might not look at it this way, but all of my soothsayer skills tell me that this is true.

Someone has to be the foil to Jill Zarin. The foil has to be strong enough to stand up to her. Alex gets hives and she is unable to stand up to Jill Zarin consistently. My soothsayer prediction is that Ramona and Simon will stand up to Jill Zarin. I think Ramona is emotional and going through menopause so she will falter. She will be on that bed in Morocco sobbing. Simon is intelligent . It’s my guess that Simon will be that “housewife.” Simon will rise in status this season and play a major role in the show.

So on New Year’s Eve, Jill Zarin goes to Aruba and she she wants to address Lynn Hudson. Jill Zarin directly asks Lynn Hudson, “What will you do if Simon comes to my side?” I believe Simon does go to Jill’s side in the show. We, here at IHJZ, will be thrown under the bus in the name of Season Five of “The Real Housewives of New York City.” Anyone who defended Alex and the way she has been treated for three seasons will be in shock. It’s all about money and being able to stay on the show for Simon. I don’t think Alex wanted this to happen. I just don’t think Alex is strong enough to remain the foil of Jill Zarin in this show. I actually think no one is strong enough to stand up to Jill Zarin on the show. We know someone and we will stand with her.

These are my personal opinions which are based on months of research of the fourth season and what I have noticed after studying the behavior of these cast members of this reality show. I think the viewers won’t like any of the cast members at the end of season four. I think we will go down into the Rabbit Hole with Alice and Jill Zarin, the Red Queen. Jill Zarin will shout, “Off with Their Heads!” and we will laugh at her and freely write out opinions on this board. There is nothing Jill Zarin can say or do to stop us.

Don’t forget to check out our continuing story of our version of The Real Housewives of New York written by Quincy IL and myself including some of our own predictions along with some things we know for sure based on a lot of research that Quincy has tirelessly done to piece together what really happens this season.  You can view all past episodes so creatively written by Quincy here:

You can find them posted every Saturday and Sunday in the past four weeks and coming up this weekend two new episodes that you’re going to love as the ladies head to Morocco!

Last night Bravo aired the newest Kathy Griffin stand up special filmed in Milwaukee Wisconsin.  I thought Kathy was really funny, she had some great stories to tell.  Immediately after the newest show called, “50 and Not Pregnant” Bravo aired her last stand up special and it was actually a quite a bit funnier than her most recent one.  In my opinion anyway but I find her hysterical.

As you all know by now, Andy Cohen made an announcement that basically confirmed that Bravo is finished with any new housewives franchises.

Interestingly enough that same evening I met Mary Amons at a charity event for her Labels Of Love and she asked me if I’d heard the news?  Not sure what she meant, she asked if I’d heard about Andy’s announcement.  Yes, I told Mary I had heard but that it sounded like he meant no “New” Housewives series, he really never mentioned the DC Housewives.

But Mary went on to explain that she had a friend in Dallas Texas who was about to sign on as a Dallas Housewife but it had all been pulled out from under them.  Could the Miami ratings be the reason for that?  Will there be another season of DC?  Mary didn’t seem nearly as confident as Cat about a season two of DC.

I sincerely hope they give DC another chance, I know that not everyone agrees with me but I find Rich Amons to have a great sense of humor and I’d love to see more of Lynda and Ebong.  I think that Staci finding her family was interesting and I think that Cat has found true friends with Lynda and Mary, I’d love to see more of all of them!

Honestly, I wish Andy Cohen would just tell us one way or another if they’ve made a final decision.  Don’t wimp out and just hope it goes away quietly, if a decision has been made, just spill it!

I think your on the money about Sonja, I think the ego and attitude this season will drive alot of fans of hers away, the one thing she has done so far that I think is atleast classy, is not talk about how awesome this season is going to be without Bethenny, unlike tweedle-dee, tweedle-dum, tweedle-dumber, and tweedle-crazy.

    • Rhetorica says:

Jezz, I was disappointed I wasn’t first post but after reading your nicknames, I’m.glad you started the thread:)

    • quincyil says:

Bethenny may not be filmed for the show, but she is going to be a point of contention for the cast mates during season five. Jill is still upset about Bethenny not speaking to her and season four is finished filming.

      • DJ Loops Fruit says:

Bethenny is too smart and too classy to stoop to Jills Tactics

ok on another note here is a pet peeve of mine
when people say how much these housewives have changed
they show a few minutes out of a few months of a persons life and you think thats enough to get to know the actual person
        I dont
you may get a sense of how they are as a person
you can even get to know enough to be judgemental about them
lord knows i do it all the time
but to really know if a person has changed you would either have to live with them or at least be in thier company for a few years 24/7
        ok off my soap box

  2. Sha2000 says:

“She also mentioned at least three times that she is in “the big city” and they do things this way in “the big city”. ”

It’s not New Yorkers using that expression, it’s her.

    • LynnNChicago says:

I agree, Cindy and Jill are both heard saying things like that, as much as I love New York, it does get old.

      • Sha2000 says:

Saw a video…ugg, is that what we have to look forward to? She seemed so impressed with her mirror from Italy & her shoes. Speaking of which,; do these women look in the mirror at all? That get up she had on makes her look like Patti Smith & that orange fringe dress worn by your favorite HW is a mess!

The whole RH franchise revolves around boasting, so why should the NYC ladies be any different. Living in the gated McMansion type communities like on OC is my idea of a living hell, but the whole concept of the show started with bleached, botoxed and boob-jobed bimbos boasting about just that: living in a fake gated community of McMansions and somehow, we were all suppose to be jealous. Luckily Bravo quickly realized that what we loved most about these shows is to make fun of these sad, sad people. Asperational my ass!

I grew up in NE and when I went to college in upstate NY I was shocked and humored by how many NYCers refered to themselves as coming from “the city”. LOL “What city?” most would ask, but somehow we were suppose to understand that “THE city” meant New York city.

Since living here so long, I’ve often come to wonder why 70% of all tv and movies seem to be set in NYC, with 20% set in LA and the remaining 10% left for “other”. Setting a show in Arcadia AL is like asking for it to be cancelled. LOL

      • quincyil says:

Does that mean that there won’t be “The Real Housewives of Quincy, IL?” I was going to buy one of the Victoria Secrets bras that Gretchen mentioned and dye my hair blonde for the audition tape.

      • Sha2000 says:

Lol, that right! If you say “New York City” we know you are a tourist & have a good giggle; all New Yorker know that :). To be fair we never say “the city” out of state, we are not that presumptuous! In fact we’ve taught our daughters to stop saying “New York City” in this house, (they were born in TX & now living here in FL) that they sound like hillbillies (lol yes we said that), the proper name is Manhattan which New Yorkers regularly use too. “The big city” as the new RHONY is using is her own thing & not the norm. For New Yorkers “the city” and Manhattan are both correct, New York City is not.

  3. emdee says:

Just want to let you know that the New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie, fired Alfred Manzo as a Commissioner at the North Jersye Water Commission. He collected a salary from there but he used the Brownstone address which is in Passaic County instead of his Franklin Lakes address, which is Bergen County. That way Bergen County can’t squash his nomination. Very interesting to me – I can’t believe no one has been discussing this.

    • Sha2000 says:

Its curious to me that if one is appointed to a public office that his address (both home & business) aren’t verified. Also I’m sure many knew this prior to Christie’s questioning…the BS has been around a long time & folks know its not his residence. This seems to go deeper than AM. For the record, I am not a fan of AM and definitely not a supporter of Christie & his agenda; that said it should be interesting to see the outcome.

      • WindyCityWondering says:

Maybe AM’s appointment was not vetted properly because his campaign contributions were impressive.

      • DJ Loops Fruit says:

        hate Christie like poison
i dont even think his election was on the up and up

    • viki55 says:

Way to go Christie! There is so much corruption in that state I am not sure it could every be totally addressed but nice to see someone make a start. Something is very wrong when every one knows Manzo didn’t qualify but no one says a word. Edmund Burke said all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

      • DJ Loops Fruit says:

while there certainly is a lot here there is corruption in just about every state
the nature of politics is almost a blue print for it

    • Rabble Rouser says:

It was mentioned before- and someone also mentioned the tremendous ego these folks must have to lie and expect people just to except it.

  4. WindyCityWondering says:

With Andy’s announcement of no new housewives franchises a couple of reasons come to mind. Market saturation with inferior product (DC didn’t do well because of the Salahi hijack, Miami is not doing well, only BH did well rating wise). Now franchises are imploding (difficult wives/viewers’ disapproval of their behavior both on and off screen) or have gotten stale. Then add the current scheduling missteps (regular shows are moving around so viewers are missing them or postponed when fans are anticipating them). Whatever the new parent company’s directives are for Bravo has likely changed priorities (someone is now telling Andy what he will be doing). Housewives franchises put Andy in the spotlight and he even has his own show so why would he want to stop the HW wave? BH did contracts for the next season immediately, but DC has not. IMO, the powers that be are retooling Bravo both is format and offerings, but first they have to empty the closet of all the stinkers sitting on the shelves.

    • quincyil says:

There were rumors that they did a test in Chicago and filmed, but Bravo rejected the series. I believe they probably did a test in Texas and were unhappy with the results. The pool of potential housewives have been tainted by the previous shows.

Bravo is such a cruel boss. Look what they do to their employees. They put our a promo showing Tamra’s whole breast in the bathtub. Ooops… like the twenty people who look at the clip didn’t see her nipple in the photo. They allow the women to say horrible things on camera to each other. They let tables fly and they allow family members of the cast to yank hair out of heads.

Olivia is so right about this not being their real lives. Tamra would never have something to do with Gretchen much less invite Gretchen to a party if they were not castmates. Would Jill have anything to do with Alex if they show wasn’t filming? Does anyone in the Atlanta cast like Kim Z enough to invite her to their homes if it wasn’t for the show?

Andy Cohen is an absolute genius. I think Andy studied Aristotles Books VIII and IV about friendships. Andy uses the concept of friendships to create conflict. Human beings search for happiness. Aristotle described the friendships that Andy Cohen created as “imperfect friendships. They are relationships held together because each individual regards the other as a source of some advatage to the other or some pleasure he receives. These friendships are defective. and have a smalled claim to be called, “friendships,” because the individuals involved have little trust in each other, quarrel frequently, and are ready to call off their association abruptly.” from wikipedia: Aristotle.

“Genuine friendships” do not exist in any of the Bravo TV series. Those frienships are based on equality and commonality. When Jill Zarin states that she and Alex are not friends, she is absolutely correct. Jill Zarin does not have a true friend on her show.

Jill Zarin had an “unequal friendship’ with Bethenny. They were inequal in Jill’s eyes. Jill provided a home and her advice for the underdog, Bethenny. Jill received pleasure from this relationship and she wished to continue it, but Bethenny’s status changed and Jill could not adapt to the changes.

“”A genuine friend,” according to Aristotle, is someone who loves or likes the other person for the sake of that person. Wanting good for the sake of that person is called, “good will” and friendship is reciprocal “good will.”” wikipedia Aristotle.

The relationships in the DC series seem to the closest that we have come to genuine friendships. Lynda, Mary and Cat O seemed to have developed this type of friendship. The friendship with the Salahis was false and I don’t believe that Stacie has a true friendship with the other three.

The relationships in NJ are familial and that are not “voluntary relationships.” The term, “philia” was used by the Greeks to describe the bond that hold family members together.

I see no friendships in OC or in Atlanta. In both series, the women disparage the others and there is no respect. There has to be mutual respect for a friendship to thrive.

Andy is not the friend of Bethenny or any of the Bravo stars. He is their employer. Andy’s relationship with Bethenny is unequal. Bethenny’s relationship with her employees is not familial as she described either. The relationships that Bethenny has with her employees is unequal. She derives pleasure and enrichment from their work and she cares about them, but she can tell Juilie to use her inside voice and give give Julie a raise if she works her tail off. It is not a “genuine frienship” by definition.

I think that these women probably have true frienships that we don’t see on film. Both Bethenny and Jill have relationships that have gone on for years and we see those relationships in articles online.

Jill said to an author that she did not want to take a signed copy of the author’s book because Jill Zarin does not have time to read. I doubt Jill knows much about Aristotle and her descriptions of friendships, but she intuitively knew that what we are shown in “The Real Housewives of New York” is not real and the relationships with her fellow cast members are not genuine friendships.

      • WindyCityWondering says:

These women are not friends, maybe some were acquaintances but never friends. They are working as casted members with a contract to deliver a specific product.
Kelly thinks she is “acting” because this is a tv show and that means actors/actresses but her real life mirrors too closely what we see on RHNY. Some don’t like how they are portrayed because they don’t think/feel they are what they are seeing – Jill is a perfect example – she thinks/feels she is a very nice person and it is Bravo who makes her look so mean and petty. Her relationship with Bethenny was for tv – she treated Bethenny poorly and her excuse is it wasn’t a real friendship.
At the end of the day these are shows I watch for entertainment. How they act or interact is what we discuss. In my world real my friends never act like these women but we all know women with similar traits and personalities.

    • DJ Loops Fruit says:

except Miamis arent that low much higher then DC’s to be sure
and you can always find a rerun of any bravo show
Actually Andy’s more in charge now then he was before

  5. HD says:

What is this voice that Sonia is speaking with on Rachel’s show? She seems a little sassy. Over the dress already as well.

I do have to disagree with you, Lynn (I know, it’s rare) and I might get slammed but I think on her worst day, Luann looks better than Alex. I have to admit Luann is a beautiful woman and I don’t even like her and her condescending attitude. I don’t think it would even cross Luann’s mind to be jealous of Alex in regards to her having a modeling contract. I think Luann could probably sign with a few agencies for print work easily. I have only seen Alex look stunning one time which was in a photo. Luann’s beauty seems effortless and timeless.

    • quincyil says:

I agree, Luann is a timeless beauty and because of her heritage, I think she will not age as quickly as we Irish do. Her skin is gorgeous and she looks natural. I think she is the most beautiful of all of the Bravo celebrities.

among the nipped/tucked/botoxed lot of the RHW franchise, Luanne definantly unique looking, I would’nt go nuts and call her a ravishing beauty….but when she opens her mouth and hypocritical comments come out, she becomes hard to take.
Alex is good looking, and is in good shape for a mother of two, cleaned up with professional hair and make-up she is capable of being stunning, but I think people tend to like her because she’s normal looking otherwise, i.e she can move her eyebrows and doesn’t have duck lips, and that is pretty good for the time that shes been a RHWNYC, the fact that she is still normal looking.

    Yay! New blog —

Bringing this from the last one.

Quincy, Oliva, Windy and OMIB – I like your earlier discussion about NYHW, Jil,l and Simon. All very good points. As much as l like Simon and Alex, I am concern that we will see them suffer or having to stand up to la Jill and others a lot on Season 4. My concern is only because they might end up looking bad or even worst than the others. I like them and will be on their side cheering for them 

I’m at the hospital with sister. Surprised that I have connection, and glad I brought my itouch .

We just got in, about 2 hrs ago, so no baby news yet. Everything is ok and we know it will be a girl.

I know D.C. women are now your friends so I don’t really want to slam their show. We’ll see what Andy does.

    • WindyCityWondering says:

I’m beginning to believe Andy is not in charge anymore of his housewives franchise. BH signed contracts immediately. DC’s cast doesn’t know what is going on yet! NY got pulled back for a retool. Miami is drowning. Dallas got the plug pulled. Times are a changing over at Bravo.

      • HD says:

I think when you oversaturate a market this is what happens. Also when you center each season around one person that is all the show becomes about and you never see anything else. How many times can see Nene fight with Kim, Gretchen with Tamara, Danielle and everyone else, the Salahi’s with everyone, etc.? It is just redundant.

        • jezzibel says:

it also might put an end to those HW that are too thick to realize that they are not going to be getting a spin-off show like Bethenny did.

          • quincyil says:

I love my Syfy shows, but they get cancelled as production costs rise and there is nothing the fans can say or do to have them continue. The NYC women got a big raise in Dec. 2010. The Atlanta ladies like Nene are living high off their salaries. Tamara only has her salary and she is living well. That means the production costs are going up on each series every year. If the show doesn’t show a profit, Bravo will look for a show that will show a profit.

I think they are considering Shaun Rabbineau right now. He has a web series and he is bloggin on Bethenny’s show. There has never been a reality show on parties.

There is a new show on the advisor to pregnant women in NYC. That is different.

I actually think they are looking at Simon and Alex right now. I think they filmed Simon for the webcast to see how well that goes over.

Comcast is going to demand that Bravo bring home the bucks or heads will roll.

I don’t consider any of the Housewives “Friends”. I’ve met some of them and think they’re very nice people. Since the show has aired I’ve gotten to know them a little better and I like how genuine they are, they’re funny and down to earth. I think they have potential and I think that without the Salahi’s to screw everything up, they have a shot at having an interesting show.

That said, I know not everyone agrees, feel free to speak your mind HD :)xo

Sonja navigated a difficult first season – Jennifer did not. Sonja has been turned into Samantha ala Sex and the City – sorry but I don’t find that interesting but someone has to be the hot one (Bravo formula). So being a fan favorite last season may be her downfall this season going from nice to spice.

    • DJ Loops Fruit says:

she was pretty samantha jones and spicy from the get go

  12. PJ says:

I just hope that Alex doesn’t become hated because of speaking up this season. In the real world you would only take so much of people like Jill, Luann and Kelly, then you would cut them out of your social circle and tell them where to get off. But when a Housewife finally has enough and speaks up suddenly she is acting inappropriately. It happened with Gretchen, and I don’t adore Gretchen, but fair is fair. Tamara and Icky Vicki were brutal to Gretchen and Gretchen took it and tried to be friends with them. While the terrible twosome tore her to pieces behind her back and questioned her character even to her face. Who are Tamara and Vicki to question a person’s character? Tamara and Vicki don’t know anything about Gretchen or the people involved in her life; and I will never accept questionable media sources as a credible source for information on people. My point is that it appears to me that Tamara and Vicki go after Gretchen out of pure meanness and jealousy. But now that Gretchen has called Tamara out she is getting criticized. Tamara deserves that and much more. Look at Tamara and Vicki’s lives, how are they in any position to judge others? Now with Alex speaking out after seasons of being put down by Jill, Luann and last season Kelly are people suddenly going to not like her because she isn’t taking it anymore? It isn’t really fair because no one would put up with these women and why should Alex?

Would it be so horrible to have women that can support one another on this show? Women who can have each others back and celebrate one another? Women who don’t stab one another in the back as soon as the other is out of ear shot? Women who don’t have a high degree of delusional behavior? Sane women?

I finally had time to watch “Bethenny Ever After” and I loved it, the fun is back, Jason is charming as can be, Bryn is adorable and Bethenny is funny. There needs to be more shows like this on Bravo. After watching this week I totally understand Bethenny’s decision to stop with RHNY.

    • California35 says:

You said it so much better – Alex might end up looking to some people as the bad guy or unapropriate. Also, like Lynn said, that she will speak up even when the reason is not a big deal. For the last part, is when she will look worse.

      • PJ says:

True but she may have had reasons, insights into Jill’s motives, that just aren’t apparent to us yet. I hope so at least. I would hate for Alex to come off looking bad.

    • DJ Loops Fruit says:

your post was awesome all the things i want to say but cant put into words i agree 100 per cent on all counts

  13. Adgirl says:

Lynn & Quinn Thanks for your insights and predictions for this season!!

The only thing I may disagree with is:
“I think the cast members blame Jill for Bethenny leaving the show. Jill will want to say that Bethenny left because of Kelly on Scary Island.”

How can Jill “protect” Kelly and simultaneously blame Bethenny departure from RHNY on Kelly’s breakdown? Jill’s M.O. is to blame Bethenny. Jill will call her an ambitious user.

    Something like:
“Bethenny thinks she’s too important for us. She used me and now she’s dumped me.”
“Her success and fame have gone to her head. She broke my heart.”
Jason doesn’t care for Jill. “Jason is a snob and talked her into leaving us.”

Jill will never accept the blame unless she can cast herself as the victim.

I also predict that there will a few Bethenny talking heads during the early episodes of RHNY to lend continuity to her leaving. Bravo really wanted her to be on a few episodes and she refused. Bethenny can be “present” on the show without dealing with the personalities.

    • NYCer says:

I’ve lived in NYC for 6 years and never heard anyone use the expression “the big city.” I wonder if both Cindy and Jill are from Long Island and had a goal of moving to Manhattan during their childhoods? Maybe they can’t see beyond NY, but those of us who are transplants have a more realistic view of the pros/cons of living her – or in any city.

      • quincyil says:

        Hmmm…. when I think of “the big city”… I think… Chicago. rotfl.

      • mamecastle says:

I live in a small foothill town above Sacramento. To us, when people say “The City” they mean San Francisco. Only COMPLETE elitists & poseurs say this though. So “The City” may be regional, but I believe the sentiment is affected & snobby no matter where you are from.

        • DJ Loops Fruit says:

lol we here in nj called manhattan the city since before i was born
i seriously doubt a child of maybe 12 is being a snob
seriously im in my 50s now so as a teen in the 70’s it wouldnt be a snobbish thing to say esp if i didnt live there

        • twoile says:

          @M, ITA!!!!!!!!!

        • Mimisfbay says:

I grew up in SF and we always called it The City. I really didn’t think anything of it until I left. Then I realized that there were other cities in the USA. As a kid you just accept it as fact.

Must say I only hear my NYC friends call it Manhattan.

I also remember taking a friend from Chicago to The Presidio and telling her how far it was going to be. She laughed at me and said “Oh please, if we were in Chicago we would be on the same block”. How true.

    • quincyil says:

I don’t think Bethenny went near that show. I think Bravo wanted her to come back and she negotiated with them to see how much money was involved. I don’t think Jason wanted to have anything to do with Jill Zarin.

I think Simon and Ramona are both worried about the ratings of “The Real Housewives of New York City” without Bethenny. They realized that Bethenny was that show. I think Simon and Ramona are peeved that Bethenny could not come back to help the show with the transitions.

Jill wanted Bethenny to be on the show. She invited Bethenny to her party and it’s part of the show. Jill actually took Kelly’s side during that 3rd Season Reunion and if you watch Bethenny’s face, you can tell that that is the day she decided, “Enough, Enough!” in her own mind. She stops trying to reason with Andy, Jill and Kelly. Watch Bethenny’s reaction closely, she decided that there was no use in trying to use reason anymore.

Jill wants it both ways. She wants a frienship with Bethenny on her own terms and Jill wants to say that there is nothing wrong with Kelly. Bethenny knows that there is something wrong with Kelly as we can see that too. How can you go into a relationship when you see conflict on the horizon with no solutions to that conflict. That is what would have happened to Bethenny in Season 4. She was wise to step away.

Jill will make the claims that you site. She will throw in the kitchen sink. Bethenny might respond at times, but for the most part she will remain silent.

We will watch it all. Bethenny and Jill read Lynn’s blog. I don’t know if they read the comments, but I bet they will peak.

      • quincyil says:

        peek… rotfl..

        • NYCer says:

Bethenny didn’t fit with the housewives- she is self-deprecating, everyone else on the NY show is self-aggrandizing

          • quincyil says:

The Countess, Jill and Ramona really didn’t go after Bethenny in the interviews like she would go after them with her whit and humor. We laughed, but the cast mates did not laugh.

They would go after Bethenny at the reunions, but that was too late.

      • jezzibel says:

I think Bethenny could (and is dealing with) Jill on another season of RHONY…I think her reluctance and decision not to do it is based on the fact she doesn’t want to have to deal with or have any kind of interaction with Crazed-Kelly at all. Bethenny did say that she grew up with crazy and could recognize it in Kelly and she was (imho) relieved when Scary Island happened because others could then see that Kelly was off her rocker, but Kelly being that crazy and the situation not changing, when it was obvious Kelly has a very twisted obsession with Bethenny.

        • quincyil says:

Bethenny would feel pain when Jill supported Kelly. I am sure of that. Kelly is a wild card. I’m sure Bethenny didn’t want to deal with Kelly.

For Bethenny to not have any relationship with Jill means something was really wrong with their relationship. Kelly was an issue that Bethenny had with Bravo. She was pregnant and they let Kelly go off on her for several days. That was risky and wrong.

          • jezzibel says:

see I think B would have come back as guest star to help the transition, but because Kelly was back as part of the cast, B said no(and probably for the reasons you stated).

          • PJ says:

This was the thing that bothered me most last season. Bethenny was in a very vulnerable situation. Her father had just died which was stressful then Kelly was allowed to attack her mercilessly. I feel this put Bethenny in a dangerous situation one she could ill afford to be in at that moment. It was wrong to put Bethenny in that situation; and it exposed Kelly for the kind of person she is more than all the crazy that came out of her. This more than anything else makes my blood boil that Kelly is back this season; and it makes me wonder if Kelly is that insensitive to a pregnant woman whose father just died, what is Kelly capable of? I don’t think I could ever watch Kelly again.

      • WindyCityWondering says:

Wonder if Bethenny did some talking heads – if she is the topic then I can see that happening. She definately wasn’t coming back but I can’t believe Bravo let her out of all obligations to RHNY.

        • quincyil says:

I don’t think so because those other housewives would return fired through the press. Bethenny just cut the ties and stood her ground that she was not going to be on that show.

          • WindyCityWondering says:

That would be true IF they knew Bethenny did talking heads. The employer wouldn’t tell them and neither would Bethenny.

            • quincyil says:

They would eventually find out and fire back. I think she wants good press so she can sell stuff.

      • California35 says:

        Well said, it is hopeless.

By the way, are we sure B will not be on NYHW for transition? I doubt we need the “transition” sence we all know too much. There are SEVEN HW’s already and B has her own show, good for B to get out of the deal.

        • quincyil says:

Bethenny is not on film. She might be the subject of conversations, but she refused to be a part of the show.

        • Adgirl says:

I personally think Bravo would want at least one on camera statement from Bethenny for the benefit of foreign audiences and NBC reruns that may not know anything about Bethenny Getting Married. It would seem strange that she just “disappeared” with no explanation.

          • quincyil says:

They cancelled other stars and when you are not on film, you do not exist.

            • Adgirl says:

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Jeanna Keough and Tammy Knickerbocker both explained on camera their departures. Some of the least popular ladies like on Atlanta what’s her name from season one & Quinn on OC just evaporate. Lisa Wu and Lynn Curtin can still be seen drifting around in the background.
Bethenny is unique so some explanation by a cast member or herself is called for.

            • WindyCityWondering says:

Bethenny is their rainmaker – those who were erased were not.

OT-Has anyone seen Leann Rimes lately? What is going on?! My goodness!

She looks like she has been working out, had a touch of work done and is slowing falling into the Hollywood trap of what a star needs to look like.

    • Adgirl says:

      OMG. You are so right.
I think Leann’s boyfriend is a toxic jerk. He is full of himself and probably makes her feel insecure in Hollywood.
Leann has worked her entire life since being a child music star. She married a safe guy while she ws very young to escape her family. She then got caught up in being seduced by a good lookng married actor with a family and now she’s cracking under the public scrutiny.
Something a little Judy Graland about this without the drugs. Look up photos of Judy when she was older. She was anorexic and couldn’t even stand up during her concerts.

    A Place Of Yes
Click HERE to read an excerpt from the book.

The New York Times bestselling author of Naturally Thin and The Skinnygirl Dish, Bethenny Frankel takes us on an empowering journey to A PLACE OF YES

BETHENNY FRANKEL’S no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is personality won over countless fans, and made her a nationally bestselling author and the star of her own hit Bravo show Bethenny Getting Married? Now Bethenny opens up and shares the obstacles she overcame and the great success she has enjoyed while discovering how to approach life from “A Place of Yes.” Bethenny’s path was not always clear as she overcame a difficult childhood, failed relationships, entrepreneurial efforts that never quite got off the ground, and lifelong money struggles. To deal with these challenges, Bethenny developed ten rules for pursuing her goals with authenticity and drive, including:

FIND YOUR TRUTH: Dig deep inside and figure out what is authentic for you, not anybody else.

ACT ON IT: You don’t have to have a master plan. But unless you do something, you’ve done nothing.

EVERYTHING’S YOUR BUSINESS: Treat every job, person, and experience as if it could lead to your next big opportunity.

OWN IT: If you do it, say it, think it—then own it. Stand up for yourself and fully acknowledge who you really are. Each rule is illustrated with compelling, sometimes funny, sometimes outrageous examples that are pure Bethenny. It’s easy to say no, to say “I can’t,” to expect the worst, and to doubt yourself. But your life can be better than “not bad” or “good enough.” It can be amazing. And by putting Bethenny’s rules together, you can use them to be more successful, more fulfilled, healthier, and happier than ever before.”

QUESTION: Why would these women consent to another trip out of the country with Kelly? Why? It makes no sense.

Last season had them all in a twitter because of Kelly’s behavior, enough so that we learned of urgent phone calls being placed in the middle of the night; doors being locked against an “out of control Kelly”; and Kelly herself being escorted off the island by a producer. Fast forward to Sonja’s party when Bethenny and Ramona could not wait to discuss Kelly with LuAnn in an upstairs room and hinted “of things being worse than what we saw”. Alex had to be “consoled” by the “trauma” she is supposed to have suffered both from Kelly’s behavior and Jill’s “unannounced” visit.

Why would Alex, Sonja, and Ramona who all “witnessed” this supposed “breakdown” then agree to accompany her to yet another exotic locale if she is so unstable? One “Scary Island” wasn’t enough?

I always thought that Kelly was vacant, intellectually challenged, mean spirited and living in her own world. But I never saw her as being as “nuts” as was portrayed. However, if so then why would these women agree to another jaunt to another part of the world with someone they regard as “crazy”? Especially when the booze keeps flowing on an unending spigot.

Is Bravo that “desperate” for the ratings that they hoped for another repeat or is this all part of the contract they sign onto with one or another agreeing to play the role of an “insane person” whose kids should be kept away from her?

From the looks of the previews put out so far, it appears that it was Ramona’s turn to have a “meltdown” judging by the scene showing her weeping on the bed.

    • Adgirl says:

I don’t know what Kelly’s problem was on Scary Island either.
Something like Washed up Cheerleader with Mild Spectrum Disorder has Jealous Rage Issue.
Now that Bethenny is not there to challenge & enrage Kelly’s supreme entitlement, maybe no one feared a repeat?

Or your speculation that they wanted a repeat is dead on. Maybe a producer hid Ramona’s menopause meds?

    • quincyil says:

Well, I think the want screen time. We should ask why Jill Zarin lead a boycott of the Island trip last year and got away with it. The employer should have been furious that she refused to go down there when it was offered.

The Countess got away with it also…. Why weren’t here feet held to the fire?

Kelly looks like she “no speaka da engish” in a conversation with Alex. She has not changed. I think Jill believes she can control Kelly. She was controlling Kelly in the third reuinion. Listen to the instructions that Jill would give Kelly when Kelly would interupt.

Why did Simon van Kempen go to bat in twitter land for Kelly? Why did he come to this very board to give us input on his reasons for defending Kelly?

I think that Bravo and the cast members know that Kelly Bensimon is not normal. Jill feels compelled to say Kelly is ok in an interview in the promo from season 4. Something must have happened for Jill to feel compelled to tell us that Kelly is ok. I don’t know if if was on the trip or not.

I recently recorded season three and watched the dinner on Scary Island again. Every woman there was convinced that something was wrong with Kelly . We all know that something is wrong with Kelly. For Bravo to ignore this for ratings isn’t suprising to me. Look at the other shows. They have fights that could easily get out of hand.

With provisions for their safety and extra handlers for Kelly. While Bethenny was her main target – she is an equal opportunity fruit cake.

      • Olivia says:

Both LuAnn and Jill bailed out of Scary Island and I don’t see any repurcussions as a result. Apparently you can do it and not get fired.

But having listened to the angst forthcoming from those who did take that trip, you would have thought they were sharing space with Lizzie Borden. The “if you only knew” left most of us up in the air of how bad it was yet they all agree to grab a flight to go to Morocco of all places (h/t to Sex and the City 2!) to gather once more on the offchance that Kelly might, could, possibly go over the edge once more? Not buying it.

These women are not “friends” in the normal course of events and perhaps I am looking and judging from a more realistic point of view, but if “Scary Island” was all it was cracked up to be nothing would induce me into a possible sequel of another event even if George Clooney was to be my roommate.

        • quincyil says:

I think George Clooney might be a reason to go, Olivia.

Perhaps, a doctor went with them just in case.

      • Adgirl says:

Scary Island is hard for me to watch because it IS real.
The sobbing hysterically over the gift bag was shocking. My skin crawled thinking about what Kelly might do to herself.

I agree with all of you, the whole trip with Kelly this season a strange thing to do unless:
        A) Kelly has a therapist who condoned the trip (Kelly is on meds now?) or even accompanied the production team.

        B) The primary instigation for Kelly’s rage is Bethenny. She isn’t around anymore and there isn’t another young and attractive woman to freak Kelly out. Danger averted.

        • WindyCityWondering says:

She has Jill there to protect her from those other meanies!

        • Olivia says:

Maybe but Ramona called her “stupid” to her face which I kind of think is a little more off putting than referring to her as “Madonna”.

Ramona also made fun of Kelly’s boobs if memory serves so why would Kelly not take her anger out on Ramona as well?

The degree of hostility does not add up when taking Ramona’s words into account alongside what Bethenny dished up.

Ramona ran from the dinner on Scary Island laughing her head off at Kelly. Ramona has been as much at fault for digging Kelly as was Bethenny.

Kelly made reference to Ramona’s drinking so it is doubtful that a “friendship” ensued. Therefore it is not too much of a stretch to consider that perhaps Kelly may have some issues with Ramona as well that could have easily “exploded” in some far distant country with or without a “therapist” in tow.

                • HD says:

Although you are analytical, which is fine, I think the answer is pretty basic. Bravo wants ratings, the women are under contract, they want airtime and who is gonna pass up a FREE trip to Morocco? Not I. Kelly be damned.

So many thoughts on the above.

    1. If Ross Geller can’t have his “freebie celebrity” Isabella Rosellini, then fauxlebrity Countless LuAnn is a reasonable second;
    2. I don’t think Alex photographs all that pretty for some weird reason. It is hard to figure out because I have met her in person at a book signing (see LynnFam photos link above) and she is really very very beautiful;
    3. I have lurked on reruns of Miami, and it is truly awful. Not one sympathetic or likeable woman in the whole group, ok, well maybe Elsa and Leah. Christy is a biotch I really want to slap;
    4. I really do hope DC will return. Without the Salahi’s it may be really great;
    5. I praise the Lord Bethenny escaped RHNY. BEA is so much more fun and REAL;
    6. I swore up and down on twitter I would not be watching the new season of NY if Jill and Kelly were still on, but I may have to, only to support Alex and Simon, as it may be the last season of this show;
    7. What the H is Cindy wearing above? That is the ugliest getup I have seen a housewife wear.
OK, guess that’s all for now. Thanks for listening. Have a great weekend all.

  28. Terry says:

I just don’t get why so many people give Alex McCord a pass. She is my least favorite of the housewives by far: pretentious, a liar, a rubbernecker… As bad as the others are, really, the worst to me is Alex. I find her dreadful, dreadful, dreadful.

Now ask me how I really feel. Sorry, I just had to rant.

    • Di says:

lol! So dontcha just love Alex? Jk 🙂

    • quincyil says:

I agree, Alex has her moments. In season one, she really look pretention and she seemed to be a social climbers. I think Simon leads her in those directions. She’s honest like Bethenny. She says things like they met on Craig’s list or was that Jill who said that … I think that was Jill Zarin in her Amazon rant under the name Susan Saunders. LOL. Alex said to Bethenny that they met online for a one night stand.

I think Alex is going to make a truce with Jill Zarin and that she will accept a low level in the pecking order in NYC. You can’t be Jill’s equal you have to be far below her or Jill Zarin is not happy.

      • quincyil says:

      • HD says:

Seemed to be a social climber? She was a complete social climber. Scouring the newspaper for your picture, trying to get photographed, trying to meet all the “right” people. Now that she has “arrived” she doesn’t need to do that anymore but she and Simon certainly were trying to claw their way up some social ladder.

        • quincyil says:

They reached Jill’s level and stopped? rotfl..

I’m sure there are higher levels. I would love to pass Robert de Niro on the street. I was in NYC for five days and didn’t see anyone that I recognized. Even the stars of the Broadway Plays were the second stringers on the July 4th holiday.

          • HD says:

There are much higher levels. I never mentioned Jill. They would have clung to anyone in season one if they thought someone could do something for them. Alex now feels she is some reality celebrity and she has the “fame” and no longer needs to chase it which is why their social climbing stopped. That first season like B said they would go to the opening of a letter. Everyone saw it and I’m just like calling it like it is. They looked like the sad kids trying to sit with the popular kids. However once they became popular there was no more need for that.

Also that comment “you’re a mean girl” seemed to rocket Alex into some stratosphere when the comment was lukewarm at best and I never understood why it got her so much attention. Anytime you start breaking out in hives and turning beet red when you tell someone off, it is clear that going off is not the norm for you. Now Alex finally has some balls and plans to use them I suppose. I am not impressed.

    • HD says:

      I don’t mind your rant. I don’t like nor dislike Alex…yet. 🙂

I do want to ask you and I honestly don’t know…what did Alex lie about?

    • Adgirl says:

I don’t find Alex to be in the same league of nasty as Jill.

Jill literally tries to get people she doesn’t like fired, She has apparently tried to undermine books sales of Alex and Bethenny. She has contacted people who post on blogs at their jobs to confront them. She also suggested others do the same – contact employers of posters to get them fired.

I can’t think of one example of another “reality” star doing anything like that.

Alex may have laid on the social climbing thick in season one but she quit that after the season aired. She laid on the confrontations with Jill think on season 3 and made a mess of them by breaking out and stammering.
She hasn’t ever tried to stop people from buying Zarin Fabrics or Sqweez girdles.

      • quincyil says:

Alex is supportive of other people’s ventures. She went to see Bethenny for filming of products several times and help Jill with her book sales at least once.

I think Alex was at Jill’s Sqweez opening on Feb. 15th.

Alex went to Cat O’s book signing and said hello to Lynn.

        • PJ says:

I like Alex. She is much nicer than any of the others. I don’t think she lied about anything.

  29. Di says:

Lynn, thanks for all the details on the upcoming NY season! You really find out all the juicy details and I love getting your take on the shows. I still haven’t decided if I’m going to watch the RHNY this season. The last one was exhausting and I’m not sure I’ll like it without Bethenny. Don’t get me wrong, I was also a fan of Alex, Sonja and Romona (most of the time), but I think Bethenny’s self-deprecation and smart sarcastic commentary about the other ladies made the series. I have no interest in watching Jill, Kelly or Luann–I fast-forwarded most of their scenes towards the end of last season. I kind of think it will be a free-for-all between the remaining ladies to jockey for popularity and get ratings. It also doesn’t give me confidence it will be any good since it was pulled from the original premier date, but we’ll see. Maybe I’ll read your recaps and change my mind.

Also, I didn’t have a chance to comment on your Top Chef blog yesterday–loved it. Richard was totally my fav all season, but I think he’s cracking up under the pressure and becoming viciously competitive. I know he really wants to win, so I hope he pulls himself together and brings his normal personality back. I know it’s a lot of pressure though, so that may be tough for him to do in the finals.

Happy day after St. Patty’s to all! Anyone else wish it was the weekend already?

  30. quincyil says:

Kelly Benisomon says that she doesn’t think that any of us talks to Bethenny anymore.

I actually believe that Kelly Bensimon is telling the truth here. I think Alex texts a little… but Bethenny is totally out of their lives.

    • Adgirl says:

I agree with you Quincy. We haven’t seen any RHNY on BEA or any press mentions of them filming or attending events together. I think Alex may want to continue the friendship but Bethenny is done with all of them.

That said, I am curious about Bravo internal company events, you would think they would try to draw all of their cast members/employees together once or twice a year like normal companies do. I mean even if they are “big” stars to us they aren’t much of anything away from Bravo.

      • quincyil says:

Before the summer shows, they had Jeff Lewis and a lot of people in a room with a pool. Jennie Pulo jumped in. Bethenny was in that ad, but none of the other NYC housewives as their show was almost finished. I haven’t seen any add like that recently.

      • I think Ramona, Alex and Simon will be on BEA this season. They attended Bethenny’s birthday party back in November and that was filmed for BEA.

About Albert and Carolyn being on the state’s insurance plan when he was on the water commission using his business as his residence….. He had a heart attack and later a stomach stapling during his time on that commission. Will he have to pay the state back for those hospitalizations? Carolyn also had health issues with her kidney stones during that period. She was sick when they went to Italy. All of this could mean a huge bill to the Manzos if the state makes them pay.

  32. BlueSky_Forever says:

NJ & water treatment facilities…fundraiser held at the Brownstone:

Christie is going after these corrupt officials, as he should. Christie was the former NJ attorney general. He went after lots of corrupt people in NJ. Republicans & Democrats alike were both found guilty. FBI stings, etc.

Here’s one murder in the Passaic Water treatment facility that was never solved, it’s horrific. The woman drowned in a huge water tank. One of her co-workers did it.

    • I remember this case well, Bluesky…too close to home 😦
I agree with you that Christie is the first to actively pursue
      the corruption of this state.
I don’t believe AM got his appointment to the water authority
thru Christies ‘ admin, think it came from Corzine.

I am so curious why people who don’t live in NJ have such
a negative reaction to This Governor ? I think that’s odd.
I don’t care one way or another, but why the “nasty hate”
if you don’t even live here?

      • BlueSky_Forever says:

Christie scares some people, because he is trying to solve problems, IMO. He’s the best thing that has happened to NJ in decades. People like AM and T&J G. should be very afraid, because their corrupt days are over. Christie is doing his best to clean up Trenton, & the rest of this state. We should all applaud him.

The woman who was murdered had a Ph.D, whereas most of her coworkers got their jobs thru corrupt practices (so common in NJ). Did she find out something? Was she going to expose them? IMO, she was murdered because she knew something, and perhaps people were going to be fired or even sent to jail for their criminal acts. Why hasn’t anyone been arrested? Now the people who are still working there are afraid to talk – maybe they would be next to be murdered. When you read about the job conditions at that water plant, the way $ was raised for corrupt politicians, the insider dealings, etc. …. disgusting. Did you know that just weeks before her murder, video cameras were removed/not working, a “buddy system” was stopped (that way she was alone, testing the water in that tank…makes you wonder). I found lots of info in my google search. It is just chilling. Her family sued the water plant, back in 2007. It must have been settled out of court so they can’t talk about how much $ the family received. Blood money, IMO. The woman’s murderer(s) continue to work at that water plant.

seriously doubt there will be as that ones ratings never got out of the toilet

    • WindyCityWondering says:

Are the Miami ratings going up significantly? The reruns are on this afternoon and this franchise is terrible.

      • HD says:

Ratings – The ratings are out for last week’s episode (the second episode of the season) and it’s more bad news for Bravo. The show’s ratings declined 14% with only 1.03 million viewers tuning in, down from the 1.21 viewers who watched the debut episode. Those ratings are almost unheard of when it comes to the Bravo housewives’ franchise in recent years. Definitely not looking good for the Miami franchise.

I’m confused… at what point do they KEEP going up? LOL! Oh…maybe they went up this week. Let me see if I can find the numbers.

        • WindyCityWondering says:

Thanks @HD – I don’t believe the ratings are going up and most sites are saying they bombing badly. I caught reruns today and it is truly the worst franchise yet – must change channel tv – Bravo should have kept it on the shelf or tossed it in the garbage.

          • HD says:

You’re welcome. The show is boring, lifeless and dead. It has flatlined and if ratings are going up trust me it won’t be long. Bravo knows this show was a mistake. Face the music. It sucks!

            • jeang says:

This weeks rating on tv by the numbers, show miami with 1.101 million, Betheny with 1.235 million and Million Dollar Listing with .0972 million. Both Betheny and Million Dollar Listings are in 2nd and 4th seasons which should have more regular viewers.

    Hello Everyone!
It’s been quite a while since my last posts!
I consider every city and town in America beautiful and special; however, No city will every compare to the greatness that shines out of New York City. It truly is “the big city,” and its magnificence is comporable to many of the other great cities that world has to offer. New York City is both a cultural and a fashion mecca for many people around the country to adore and mimic; we set the trends here; we are the Paris and Milano of this hempisphere. We have access to many forms of cultural and symbolic capital, and this is the reason for the superior feelings that we may possess in comparison to a small town American. New York carries the rest of the country, and there is no reason to be dubious about this opinion. New York City is both elegant and sophisiticated, trendy and ever-changing. It is the city of excitement and wonder; it is the center of the world.

Los Angeles, a beautiful city too, is just as important as New York City. In New York, we consider LA to be our sister city because it is another cultural mecca of the United States. LA is also home to the movie industry and the charms of old Hollywood. LA is like New York because we regard it just as cosmpolitan as New York; it deserves the same comparison. LA is also quite different from New York ,and that is what makes it a unique and exquisite city and region. LA is the city of angels, the city that is surrounded my beautiful mountains and a serentiy of the pacific ocean. It is the land of the beautiful, the land of plenty and the land of abundance. The warmth of the sunshine enchants the residents. I spent some time in LA and I really enjoyed myself there; I consider it to be a gem on the West Coast.

Cindy Barshop is from Wantagh, NY, and Long Island is just as fantastic as NYC. We have beaches and quite a few of quite villages filled with beatiful shopes and fine restaurants. Long Island is also home of the Hamptons, the summer residencies of New York’s elite. The entire state of NY is fabulous; we have everthing here;hence, nothing is lacking in this fine majestic state.

    Ciao Ciao!

Every state, city, town, and village is beautiful; I just prefer New York because it always manages to inspire me. Perry Street is my favorite street as well; I have always been enamored by the brownstones on that street!

I’m glad that you were able to visit NYC. Chicago is next on my list! I need to try the special pizza there!

So….you’ve been to Paris? How about Switzerland, Austria, South America? NYC is okay, even great. Sorry Vin but I’ve lived outside NYC longer than you have graced the planet earth with your presence and I would never choose NYC over some of the other great cities. -I for one, am very, very uncomfortable with Bravo filming Kelly this season. It seems absolutely reprehensible to get ratings=make money off of a crazy person.

this is a clip about Charlie Sheen but just substitute the name Kelly and this is how I feel:

  40. LynnNChicago says:

A Twitter Friend, @TweetingGrandma went to see Bethenny’s show, here are two tidbits from her blog about it that I found interesting:

    Questions for Bethenny:
The juiciest one was, “What did Bravo think of her NOT returning to Real housewives of New York?” She laid it out, Said, Bravo was VERY UPSET with her for NOT RETURNING *I could tell from the look on her face when she said it. *Bravo Was pissed* *Good for you B, Showed em what your made of, Amazeballs You go with your Bad Azz Self*
She adds that She & Jason Both felt it was as if she wasn’t being “True to Herself” if She continued in RHONY, It was…Just Not Her “Reality”..

    *Jill Zarin..Ugh*

Jill Zarin, is Still a Sore spot for Bethenny, she was asked “If she had to choose who she hated most, between Kelly & Jill, which one would it be?” After pondering for a minute, She says, She would have to say Jill, because Kelly is truly crazy, and she DOES Mean CRAZY (As in, She truly believes that Kelly has some ?? “Mental Issues”) *Who the eff Doesn’t think that?*

    • Adgirl says:

OMG that is so interesting, Good for Bethenny telling Bravo to shove it.
That must be her new brand: Bethenny’s Balls.

    • quincyil says:

I think having Jason made her feel strong enough to stand up to Bravo. It’s hard to tell a network, “No.”

      • HD says:

I don’t think Jason had anything to do with that. I think that is reaching a little far. Bethanny has never been some wallflower, push over. Man or no man, if she didn’t feel like doing that show I am confident B would have walked. JMO

        • WindyCityWondering says:

Gotta agree – Bethenny’s call – and it didn’t hurt that she had a runaway hit going at that time. Money talks and bs walks.

        • quincyil says:

          From the in this thread:

“She adds that She & Jason Both felt it was as if she wasn’t being “True to Herself” if She continued in RHONY, It was…Just Not Her “Reality”..”

I think Bethenny really counts on her husband for support. I’m sure he wants the best for he and their family. Jason does not like Jill and he can’t like what they did to her in season three.

          • quincyil says:

from the link above in this thread.

            • HD says:

I still stand on with or without Jason she would have made the best decision for her. If Jason NEVER came along Bethanny is not Bravo’s puppet. I am sure her and Jason discussed this issue as most people in serious committed relationships do but I really don’t think Jason was the ultimate factor. Bethanny does what she wants to do, which is why her and Jason are STILL on Bravo collecting the dough. She was made a strategic career move to benefit her and her family. Bethanny is not stupid. She knew what she was doing. Isn’t she the producer on her own show?

              • HD says:

I meant…Not THE producer but one of them. Bethanny is a smart woman and has been that way with big balls and big brains long before Jason came along.

                • quincyil says:

Yes, big balls and brains. She loves it that he has an education in accounting and business too. She made the decision, but having him agree with it gave her additonal strength.

                  • HD says:

                    We’ll agree to disagree.

                  • OneMoreInBoston says:

quincy- I disagree. Bethenny may get love from Jason- but she has her own strength to make her own decisions.

                    • quincyil says:

I think she has self doubt.

                    • OneMoreInBoston says:

we all do to some extent. But this girl didn’t just hatch from an agg th eminute she met Jason. She has made some very shrewd and savvy business desicions before she met him.

He may support her, but she makes up her own mind.

Last nights “30 Rock” with a Real Housewife spin:

  42. I don’t believe for a second that Jill is upset that Bethenny isn’t coming back to RHONY. I think she is glad that Bethenny is gone. I think she is pretending to be upset on camera because she wants the viewers to believe that she misses their friendship. I don’t think Jill gives a damn about Bethenny and she was done with her when Bethenny got her own show. Jill is going to put on an act for the cameras in episode one of RHONY4, just like she did at the reunion show when she kept apologizing to Bethenny. Thoses apologies were fake and Bethenny saw right through it.

    • Adgirl says:

      Good point.

    • LynnNChicago says:

I agree that Jill doesn’t care about Bethenny, she proved that by trying to sabotage B’s show. Jill only cares to the point where it affects her life. I think Jill’s concerned that The RHONY won’t survive without Bethenny and then Jill’s out of a job.

      • KookADoodleDo says:

ITA Lynn & lets not forget, the whole Bethanny saga allowed Jill to play the victim. Jill loves playing a victim!
Being a victim takes the focus off all of Jills bad deeds IMO.

        • KookADoodleDo says:

Meant to say, Being a victim takes the focus off all of Jills bad deeds or so she thinks!

  43. Adgirl says:

Jill is pissed that Bethenny quit their psychological contract.

According to Jill, she found a sad smart-ass waif at the intersection of Little Orphan Annie Rd and Rhoda Morgenstern Way. As a wealthy society matron Jill believes she was behaving as Bethenny’s patron. Jill basked in her public displays of magnificence (look at that Jill, she is so generous!).
Additionally, Bethenny suddenly made Jill fun and cool, not whiney and pudgy like when Jill was at school.

Bethenny thought they agreed to be friends in a sisterly fashion. Bethenny eventually realized there was a tone of ownership creeping into Jill’s treatment of her.

Bethenny disagreed about the nature of their “agreement” and finally quit.

Jill only fires her friends. They aren’t allowed to quit.

    • WindyCityWondering says:

Jill likely suggested that Bethenny come out to her Hampton’s house so Bravo would film her – using Bethenny to get more camera time.

  44. quincyil says:

Speaking of reality stars… Do you all remember this?

Kevin Spacey was making a presentation at a film where the audience was filled with professional actor and film producers. He pointed out Ramona Singer and Alex McCord as unique examples. Simon defended his wife and went on into the next week in a twitter war with Kevin Spacey.

Alec Baldwin also met Jill Zarin in the Hamptons and introduced his guest to Jill. At the time, it seemed tha Alec too was laughing at the startdome of Jill Zarin.

    • HD says:

I don’t remember this but I can understand Kevin Spacey. He is an accomplished actor, who are the Real Housewives in his world but they are at a film event? I find it funny so many of these women think they are actually on the level of someone that accomplished. I mean Sheree is one step from an Oscar, right?

    • BlueSky_Forever says:

Ramona didn’t quarrel with Spacey, she is smart. Simon? What an idiot. In fact, Simon is a real “twitidiot!!”

  45. kmuellfa says:

Bethenny’s shape-wear line is for sale.

Very cute, and reasonably priced as well, IMO.

  46. HD says:

@ Quincy- This is in repsonse to upthread…How long has Bethanny been married? Less than a year? And now Jason has given her strength?

Self doubt? This is a woman that claims to come from nothing, moved out of her mom’s house at 15 (I think she said about 15), went to culinary school, opened Bethanny Bakes in her apartment, stared in a few low scale movies but still movies nonetheless, got on a reality show and made it to the final two with Martha Stewart, managed to somehow convince the world that they cannot make their own “skinny” margarita so she bottled it and it is making a fortune, became the star of a reality show about NYC Housewives and she wasn’t even married, grosses millions of dollars a year, yoga tapes, shape wear, books, stars on a skating show, can’t skate worth a damn and makes it into the final two and you say she has self doubt? If that is self doubt I need a big scoop of it!

    • quincyil says:

I watch and listen to Bethenny and the other reality stars so the following is what I think is happening ….of course I am not in her mind:

We all have some self doubt and function. She feels she needs the therapist. You can be the CEO of a major company and still feel like jello inside. Bethenny wants to move to California. That is the “I want to run away” that Jill noted when Bethenny had problems with Jason I and ran to Miami. She was unhappy in Miami also.

Sometimes people have such incredible luck in business that they reach the zenith but don’t know how they arrived at that point. Bethenny, in my opinion, has inner conflict. She tells us how upset she is all of the time.

She has a sleep disorder because of stress and probably physiology. She mentioned it with Jill when she inivited her to discuss their issues at the end of season three and she mention the sleep disorder while preparing for “Skating with the Stars.” She is always exhausted. She goes for a while and then lies on the couch while Jason deals with the baby and dog.

Bethenny has issues in dealing with people on a personal level. She would prefer to be alone in her apartment. She and Jason bicker over this constantly. She doesn’t feel comfortable with people, but she functions with a very people oriented job and goes to meet and greets or book signings.

I think her internal life/mind is in a constant struggle for survival and it’s a lot worse than she shares with us on television.

I see her great success and I know she should be on top of the world in her own mind. I see success and inner peace as two different entitites.

Her dad had similar issues. He was not a people person. He was the most succesfull race horse trainer in the US. He was never happy and Bethenny tells us this is true. Her mother also had issues in bonding and happiness. People inherit their brain structure and physiology.

In my opinion, Bethenny battles the self doubt and internal strife every day. Jason is a great comfort and she is smart enough to trust him. I am sure this helps her mind.

      • HD says:

Quincy, if anyone tells you they are 100% sure about themselves all the time, they are lying to you. That is the nature of being human. What matters to me is not that you have self doubt, as we all do, however what is most important is how you overcome that self doubt to continue on the journey. Courage is not the absence of fear or even the absence of doubt. What matters is that you still do it afraid.

My issue with what you stated upthread was that it appeared Jason was getting the credit for what Bethanny has accomplished. They have been married less than a year (I believe) and dare I say Jason entered Bethanny’s life just as her star was truly beginning to rise. I cannot toss everything that she has ever accomplished over to him. That is something that society often does. “Oh a man did it”, “had it not been for her husband she never would have…”, “thank God she had a man there to do this….” I don’t play that game. Women are capable and able to accomplish things without a man involved. Yes, it does happen. Bethanny seemed to be doing pretty damn well and making a name in the business realm for herself long before Jason came along. Funny, seems like Jason will now be working “with” Bethanny. This is a woman who took nothing and made something long before Jason was ever involved.

This society often kowtows to the notion that women cannot accomplish anything unless a penis is involved. I, myself, would like to give women a little bit more credit than that.

        • quincyil says:

No, I understand the time frame of her relationship with Jason Hoppy. I was thinking about her decision to stand up to Bravo and say, “No to filming with RHNYC.” In the blog that began this thread, a question was asked by someone in the audience. Bethenny said that Bravo was very upset with her decision and the blogger noted Bethenny’s distress while making that statement. Later, Bethenny says Jason supports her. It was her decision, but the support from Jason comforts her when she stands up to the powerful force that Bravo is.

As business grow, you need the support of trustworthy people and you can not do it alone. In the early seasons of NYC, we saw Bethenny creating her website and looking for fans to sign up. She could do it at her dining room table with the help of one person. Her many businesses have grown and she needs more help. With Jason’s background and education, he is an excellent resourse. She is intelligent and she sees that he is superior than many others.

I understand the concept of a glass ceiling, but I never let them stop me. I methodically punch through them.

          • quincyil says:

            superior to…many

          • HD says:

I understand support. I am certainly not a male basher by any means. It is always good to have good people in your corner that can support you. No one can do everything alone. No one is disputing that. But this:

“I think having Jason made her feel strong enough to stand up to Bravo. It’s hard to tell a network, “No.””

doesn’t sound like support. It sounded like thank goodness Jason was there or she would have not stood up to Bravo which is why I feel the way I do about your comments.

We could go round and round but I stand on everything that I said. We just perhaps see things differently and that is okay. I am not some raging feminist but I certainly stand up for women and support them achieving anything they desire on their own merit. How different this world would be if society truly believed that women are capable enough to accomplish anything…

            • quincyil says:

I think they discussed what she should do about this mess for ages. She was sharing her concerns about the way she was interacting with Jill Zarin before they were engaged in the restaurant in Montank (sp?) at the beginning of season three. I’m sure Jason gave Bethenny his opinions and she took them into account while making her decision to not film with RHNYC. At the season three reunion, Bethenny told Jill that Jason did not like Jill. That is evidence that Bethenny was sharing her experiences and listening to Jason. While on Scary boat traveling to Scary Island, Bethenny went to her computer to write and tears were streaming down her face. I think she was writing to Jason to tell him about Kelly and the attacks on Bethenny.

No man is an island. No woman is an island. You will find greater success if you find a way to have the support of your spouse. Bethenny apprears to have discovered that pathway.

              • HD says:

I don’t think I ever said anyone was an island and I am far from not understanding support. I do have a husband that supports me and *miraculously* I managed to have a career that was established long before I met him (the world probably just stopped turning) but okay…

I have nothing else to say on the matter. We just think differently.

                Peace and Blessings!

                • indy anna says:

quincyil, I think along your lines. Bethenny has a new best friend and his name is Jason. Of course she will run things by him and listen in return to his thinking. Sometimes our best friend, in whom we confide,is female and sometimes male. Hers is Jason.

  47. lillybee says:

I think Kelly may be jealous, the new girl wears even shorter skirts than Kelly.

  48. Jennifer says:

Lynn, as usual, love the blog! My first question is why why, oooh why, are Luanne, Kelly, and Sonja still housewives???? I suppose every show needs extras, but seriously. Luanne, especially adds NOTHING to this season, just like last season. BORING!!!Can we start saying, ” only in Chicago?” Just asking. We all know it’s the greatest town on the planet.

Get Simon and Alex back for some cocktails and chit chat. They are really the only down to earth, interesting ones anyway.

  49. Hmm…..End2bullying, who is a big fan of Jill’s has been bullying Tabatha Coffey again on Twitter. I wonder who the “hate blogger” is?

end2bullying @tabathacoffey why are you meeting with a hate blogger in Chitown after you said you were sorry you interviewed with her? kinda hypocritical

end2bullying @tabathacoffey I saw your tweet welcoming her to the event. She has promoted gays slurs anti-semitic behavior, HATE and BULLYING on her site

    • quincyil says:

I think Tabatha is wonderful. I wrote her who show and everyone seemed to agree that she is doing great things for her industry. The concensus on the board was she is funny and smart.

      • quincyil says:

        I wrote about her show…

      • I love Tabatha. I am just disgusted by Jill’s fan (end2bullying) who harrasses people on Twitter End2bullying (Kendra) claims to be against bullying but occasionally bullies people on Twitter.

        • WindyCityWondering says:

IMO, some bullying behavior is perfectly acceptable to bullies – like calling someone out in a less than civil way for something or someone they associate with bullying. Jill is a bully, she knows it and at times displays it. She sets an example for her “fans”. So if they go “too far” she isn’t really to blame.

Lynn — i liked your comment about not everyone wanting to live in nyc. i lived there for 8 years and that is basically what people think: that everyone wants to live there or should want to live there. also, because everyone is so obsessed with status there it’s a way to make ourselves feel better about our choice to live there. we may be poorer, have a crappier apartment or not accepted by a certain clique of friends – but at least we don’t live in one of those flyover cities. it’s obnoxious but also not uncommon.

i will say though.. it is a great place to live. i haven’t lived in too many locations but i have always felt the most alive and engaged when living there.. and especially when i lived in manhattan. so, there is some truth to it!
