I Hate Jill Zarin Preview of The Real Housewives of New York
Just one week until the Real Housewives of New York premier. In previous blogs we’ve looked into Ramona and Luann, today I’d like to talk a bit about Jill Zarin because she has been up to so much these past few weeks in preparation of the show returning.
Jill Zarin is a woman who has never disappeared, even though the season wasn’t airing she continued to crave the spotlight.
Recently Jill Zarin has started an interesting new hobby, she has taken to U-Stream and is letting fans and viewers into her home. From her dining room, living room and bedroom Jill streams live talking to her fans, answering questions, watching TV with them and letting them watch Jill get her hair and make up done.
The question is why? Why is she doing this? Her answer is that she wants to reach out to fans, give them a glimpse into her world. If that were true, I think it would be a nice thing to do. A bit sad since when you compare it to the way that Bethenny lets fans into her life, you have to feel a bit sorry for Jill, don’t you?
I don’t believe that is the reason that Jill is doing this. I have my own theory. I think it is all about damage control. Jill has a hand in the new blog called, “I love The Housewives” by Lisa in New England. An exact opposite blog of this one that she hates so much yet can’t seem to stay away from. The New England blog began just a few weeks prior to the original scheduled premier date of The Real Housewives of New York. As we all know it was postponed so Lisa in New England has written less than half a dozen blogs and even interviewed Jill’s mom Gloria with fan questions.
Isn’t it nice of Jill to take this brand new unknown blogger under her wing, get her interviews and tweet links to her blog on Twitter? Ain’t she nice? Ain’t she?
This woman is so transparent and obvious it is really sick.
Now this U-Stream is another way for Jill to tell her side of the story without risking being outted by a media outlet. Let’s face it, they’ve not always been that kind to her and they certainly can’t be trusted.
Jill sent a pre-written story about herself compete with photos to media outlets, instead of posting the story as Jill asked, they called her desperate and told fans what Jill had done. Jill asked a radio personality to write a fake review for her book on Amazon, not only did she refuse to write the review but she told fans what Jill had done. Jill has tried to play games with the press and while sometimes she’s gotten away with it, she’s also been made a fool of along the way.
Jill needs complete control, U-Stream gives her that. She can sit on her couch and tell viewers anything she wants to and no one can contradict her, if they do, her internet maiden Maggie will just delete it. *Poof* like it never happened!
Jill has already gone live four times in the past week, her hair and make up treat for fans was almost 90 minutes long. She really doesn’t want to record and allow people to watch them later, she only wants those who watch live to be allowed to view these videos but so many of her fans (yes three of them) have begged her to please record and post the videos because they simply can’t be available to watch on a moments notice.
Jill’s initial plan was to stream live during the show Real Housewives of New York, she says she’ll watch together with her fans and then talk during commercials and after the show. What a brilliant idea! I’m sure Bravo and Shed Media love the idea to distract viewers during commercials, mute their TV and listen to Jill talk about what just happened on the show.
It wasn’t clear if this was in lieu of her blog but she’s already made it clear that she will not be blogging on Bravotv.com. Again, she has no control over Bravo blogs. Jill doesn’t like that the blog on Bravotv.com has viewer comments chosen by interns over at Bravo and if last year was any indication, the comments were overwhelmingly against Mrs. Zarin and Bravo wasn’t shy about posting them on the web site.
Jill isn’t going to play that game again, this time her blog will be only on her own site with her assistant deleting and blocking anyone who has anything negative to say about her.
Jill is building herself a little cocoon where she cannot see anything negative about her, the show or her behavior. She has hundreds of people blocked on Twitter, if you say anything negative, or follow anyone who says anything negative, retweet anything negative or most likely say anything nice to Bethenny, she blocks you.
Well she is completely prepared for Season Four and the fact that she is amping up her security blanket and surrounding herself with only love and adoration tells me that she has something to worry about this season. If Jill had changed and was one of the good guys this season, what is she hiding from? Why not blog on a public forum provided to her by Bravo? Why demand so much control?
Some of the things that have already happened on Jill’s U-Stream site, Someone asked Jill if she watches Bethenny’s show. That question was deleted and the person who asked the question was blocked from further comments. Someone asked whether or not Jill was on speaking terms with Ramona, they suffered the same fate.
Apparently we’ve been mentioned here at IHJZ a couple of times, first on Jill’s inaugural run that she calls the test video, Jill began to talk about how they will handle “haters” live as she’s U-Streaming, someone typed the comment that, “Lynn is a wackadoodle”, Jill read it out loud and then added, “Who is Lynn?” Oh Jill Zarin! You and that horrible memory of yours!
I was told that someone posted on the U-Stream telling Jill that I was posting pictures of Jill and that maybe now I was a fan? Of course it was deleted, I didn’t see the post myself, it apparently happened during Jill’s 90 minute session, I just couldn’t watch her for that long!
In one of Jill’s final blogs for season three, Jill said:
“I realized the things that I could have done better and attempted to correct them or sincerely apologize for them where I could but I ask you, where is the forgiveness? At what point are enough apologies enough? What else can a person do to right a wrong? Why are some people’s apologies accepted immediately, yet mine seem to fall on deaf ears?”
Four questions and I have answers for all of them.
Where is the forgiveness? Simple, it is in the same place where your forgiveness was when Bethenny apologized, cried and begged you to forgive her. Where did you put that again?
At what point are enough apologies enough? Well Jill Zarin, that all depends on which of those apologies are SINCERE. When you apologize but don’t mean it, or when you apologize for being cruel and then are cruel in the next breath, people tend to not believe your apologies.
What else can a person do to right a wrong? Are you serious? Words don’t mean a thing, there are a whole lot of things you can do to right a wrong Jill. You have to show people that you are sincere in your apologies. Actions speak louder than words. The time frame between when the show was filmed and when it aired you didn’t act as though you were sorry, in fact you went on talk show after talk show slamming Bethenny Frankel. You didn’t apologize until you realized that you came off looking horrible on screen.
Why are some people’s apologies accepted immediately, yet mine seem to fall on deaf ears? Because other people’s apologies are sincere, they have shown and proven that they know what they did was wrong and corrected their behavior. Your’s don’t fall on deaf ears, they fall on skeptical ears because your actions don’t show that you know what you did was wrong and that you won’t repeat the same mistakes again. It’s all about SINCERITY.
Jill you contradict yourself, you told Bethenny that you wake up every morning trying to do the right thing but seconds later you said that Alex McCord is a toxic person.
What can we expect this season from Jill Zarin? She has implied that she is “better” this season than last season. She continues to complain that she was the scape goat, that she was told to bring the drama and felt pressure to keep the drama going all season. I think even Jill can’t argue that no one put words in her mouth. The fact that she called her cast mates and told them not to film with Bethenny was just vicious and cruel.
I could have even forgiven Jill for being jealous and because she happened to be angry with Bethenny, she could have even have ignored the fact that Bethenny had her own show. But Jill isn’t a normal person, ignoring it wasn’t good enough, Jill had to try to sabotage it. This is not like ruining a surprise party or donating the sweater she forgot at your house to charity. This is a TV show and it happens to be produced and aired by the same fine people who sign Jill’s paycheck.
At the reunion when all of this was being discussed, Jill first denied even doing it, then finally said, “ok I admit it, I was mad at Bethenny and I didn’t want to film with her”. But Jill didn’t even stop there, she called her cast-mates trying to get them to do the same and Jill’s insincere, “Bethenny, I’m sorry” was supposed to take care of this vicious act?
Ramona even told us that the producers called her to ensure that she wasn’t going to follow Jill’s direction. Jill then has the nerve to say, “I want to see your baby” to Bethenny. I certainly see why Bethenny doesn’t want her child anywhere near this woman. Jill Zarin is a vile human being.
Last season Ramona’s popularity increased in part because she befriended Alex McCord. Ramona’s vicious treatment of Alex in the first two seasons was only making her look mean and somewhat ignorant because she barely knew Alex. Ramona followed some good advice by giving Alex and Simon a chance and in the end realized that they’re not any of the things she thought they were. Ramona quickly learned that Alex is forgiving, kind and even found that she and Mario enjoyed the company of Alex and Simon.
Is Jill trying to do the same thing this season? We see in the previews that Jill makes an attempt at a sincere apology but I noticed that Jill still tries to control the situation by telling Alex that she has to forgive her if this is ever going to work. Jill doesn’t stop at apologizing, she tells her victim how to accept it as well. Ever the control freak, Jill continues to try to tell people how to react, what to do and even how to forgive her.
Should Alex forgive Jill Zarin? Based on some of the things that we’ve seen it appears as though Alex and Simon have both forgiven her. We see them smiling while posing for photos at events, tweeted niceties to each other and this has already upset fans.
Fans who sided with Alex and called Jill out over her horrible treatment of Alex are upset and rightfully so. Fans didn’t want Bethenny to give in to Jill’s fake apologies and renew their friendship. People certainly don’t want Alex to do it either, can Jill and Alex be on the show together and never speak to one another, never film together and continue this battle? We know they film together and we know they speak to one another but has Alex really buried the hatchet?
Fans of the show, fans of Alex and Simon, fans of Bethenny have gone to war in their attempts to defend their favorite Housewives against Jill Zarin. Jill’s assistant Darren tried to defend his boss but people weren’t having that and argued with him on Twitter.
Simon went so far as to have a bit of a Twitter war over this very subject and as it was discussed right here on IHJZ, Simon posted a response to us here as well. It seems nobody wants to see Jill being let off the hook here, there isn’t anything to determine whether or not she’s earned it but based on the way that she’s hiding and trying to control the media that surrounds her, she’s not taking any chances.
My bet is that if Jill really had redeemed herself this season, she wouldn’t have any reason to create her own blog disguised as a regular Housewives Blog, her own U-Stream videos so that she can immediately explain away her bad behavior and only write her personal blogs on her personal web site so that she can control the comments.
Good luck to you this season Jill Zarin, I think you’re going to need it.
When Simon was called out on Twitter over what appeared to be his defense of Kelly Bensimon, he responded here on IHJZ: (fyi, Chris is the person who took over Kelly’s abandoned Twitter name, @Kikilet. Simon asked Chris to please stop using it)
1. By Chris’s own admission there was no injury so what started & followed was all based in Damnert’s initial misconception.
2. While you see me saying “watch what happens” as a plug I see it as shorthand for me saying that I can’t divulge what happens between Kelly, Jill & Alex and me on the 4th season.
3. how have I caused one fan to feel that I’ve been unfair when they felt my original affront was an injury to Chris – given Chris came in later and said it wasn’t. I am not and can not be responsible for other’s misconceptions.
4.but life IS more complicated & harping on about the DM (which was not begging or demanding) as some evidence that I had crossed to the other side seems one note.
There is no way that I can please everyone all the time, I own everything I did & with good conscience. There seems to be many misconceptions out there & when you watch the 4th season many will be cleared up.
Lastly if I didn’t care what one fan wrote I wouldn’t have entered into a dialogue with them.
If you missed it, it’s all explained in this blog and comments section:
If this was the backlash and response to Simon’s defense of Kelly Bensimon, can you imagine how fans will react if Alex and Simon forgive and forget with Jill Zarin? I’ll be interesting…
