I Hate Jill Zarin                   Rachel Zoe Project / Real Housewives News  Sept 1, 2010

The internet is still buzzing about Monday’s Real Housewives of New Jersey Reunion airing.  Tons of articles and blogs about the 75 minute craziness! 

I firmly believe that right out of the gate Teresa felt she needed to bring the drama and that is why she immediately attacked Danielle with the comment about Danielle sleeping around after knowing someone for just a week. 

Jumping off the couch like a gorilla in a zoo and getting in Danielle’s face was another stunt to bring attention to herself.  The rumors were flying fast and furious about this “nephew” that Danielle mentioned causing Teresa to flip out!  Some said this child was the offspring of Teresa’s husband Joe and his mistress, Tara, others claim it was Joe and Teresa’s sister-in-law.  Still more reports claim Teresa and her brother’s wife do not get along and that’s why Teresa wasn’t there for the birth of her nephew. 

Teresa’s blog explained that she was there for the birth and even reminded viewers that she was late for a talk bubble that she was scheduled to be a part of due to the birth of her nephew.  She says she was there at the hospital causing her to miss the chat on Bravotv.com. 

Why then, would you become so angry, angry enough to jump off the couch and get in someone’s face?  Why not just tell the truth, explain why Danielle was wrong?  There has to be more to this story! 

All of this adds to her portfolio so that when she goes to Bravo to request that her salary be doubled (Reported as $4,000 an episode to $8,000 an episode) she will have ammunition. 

I can hear it now…Teresa, “Look Bravo Andy, everyone is talking about me and my attack on Danielle, what about me pushing you down like a rag doll, wasn’t that great?  Sure, you look like a big pussy but look at the ratings!  I brought the ratings Andy, you have to give me a raise, or I’m out!”

Personally, I’d love to see her out, along with the rest of the cast but we all know Bravo, we all know that they’re all coming back (with one exception) and we all know that Bravo will most likely pay them what they want.  Reports are even indicating that they will begin to film very soon, later this month in fact.  That is much faster than any of the other Housewives series. 

It worked for Kim Zolciak and NeNe Leakes from Atlanta, they demanded all kinds of additional pay and perks including money for stylists, hair and makeup, even additional funds for the higher electricity bills while Bravo’s equipment is plugged into their electric sockets.  No telling how many of their demands were met but you can bet they received some of their requests. 

Jeana Keogh from Orange County had a little bit of a rougher time negotiating with Bravo and they let her walk, but she maintained a good relationship with the network and she’s back on Bravo as a client of the classy Jackie Warner, remember her?  She’s the chick who made fun of her own client with the breast implants, who just happened to have cancer and a double mastectomy.  She was shunned from Bravo for a while but apparently they have a short memory.  I do not. 

The New York Housewives are scheduled to begin filming September 20, with reportedly all of the ladies returning except Bethenny Frankel.   No surprise there, but rumor has it Bethenny is still contractually obligated to at least make a few guest appearances, those are the episodes that will bring the high ratings! 

Bethenny’s show was picked up for another season, with the new name of the show still being discussed and decided by Shed Media/ Bravo.  No surprise there either, Bethenny was tweeting to fans asking for suggestions for the name of the show weeks ago.  I would love to know what Bethenny gets paid per episode for carrying an entire show alone. 

I was pleasantly surprised by The Rachel Zoe Project last night, when I saw that the previews were all about the Academy Awards and Zoe’s preparing her “A” list clients for the event, I was expecting all of the typical drama we’d seen many times before on this show. 

Surprisingly, Rachel was calmer and more fun after deciding that a few days in London to relax with A list actress Kate Hudson was a good idea.  It was a great idea because it made for great television!  Kate Hudson is a great contrast for the usually uptight Rachel.  Kate’s laid back and easygoing, she just does her thing and seems to enjoy life with a great attitude!  It was fun to watch them enjoying the day together just laughing and talking like two girlfriends!

I don’t think we’ve seen Rachel Zoe smile and laugh that much all season, certainly not 9 days before the Oscars.   I completely disagreed with their assessment of the fashion show in London, I thought those models looked like they all got dressed at the Goodwill store with mismatched skirts, shirts and jackets.  But that’s just me! 

How many times does Demi Moore, Kate Hudson, Julianna Moore and other top celebrities appear on the small screen?  This shows that Rachel Zoe is the real deal, and that these women really do love and respect Rachel Zoe, to agree to appear on her Bravo reality show.  That is a big deal, and you have to respect her for that! 

All of the drama was left behind with Rachel’s put upon assistant, Brad, who handles pressure about as well as Kelly Bensimon.  Brad frets over the amount of choices that they have for Demi Moore and Cameron Diaz, whose names are mentioned more than Rachel’s on her own show.   

We got to see just how cut throat the fashion world is when a few of the dresses that Rachel really wanted as options for her clients were given to another stylist when we’re told that they were promised to Rachel.  I wonder if these designers do that because they get a promise from other stylists to put these gowns on the runway, when in Rachel’s case, they are merely options for her clients.  I’m just speculating here but I do understand why a designer would take a sure thing over Rachel’s clients just possibly wearing these dresses. 

Best I can tell Rachel collects these designer gowns, as many as she can get her hands on, then offers a choice to Demi, Cameron and her other clients.   That means that the bulk of these gowns will remain in Rachel’s showroom hanging on the rack.  These designers only get one shot to have each of their dresses on the red carpet at the Oscars and Rachel isn’t offering a sure thing, just a possibility.  Maybe she lost those gowns because they were guaranteed by another stylist to be on a celebrity at the Academy Awards?  (In this case, the dress Rachel wanted ended up on the butt of Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock)

I don’t know what business Rachel’s husband, Rodger was in before he joined Rachel’s team, but he needs to try to understand Rachel’s world a little better.  I can see why he’d be frustrated watching his wife so upset over losing these gowns, he cares about her and wants to reduce the amount of stress she has in her life.  I think he may be going about it the wrong way.  Rachel isn’t the only stylist working in Hollywood, nor does she dress all of the big stars. 

If every time Rachel “lost” a gown to another stylist, she read the riot act to the designer, she would quickly run out of designers to work with and her business would be dead in the water.  She simply can’t alienate any  designer because as soon as she does, you just know one of her clients will see one of that designer’s outfits and tell Rachel to get it for her to wear at some event.  Can you imagine Rachel telling her client, “Sorry Demi, I’m not speaking to the folks over at Oscar De La Renta so I can’t get you that great outfit you want.”  That’s just the beginning, Rachel’s reputation is on the line as well. 

If Rodger wants to be in the fashion industry with his wife, it seems he has a lot to learn. 

The baby issue came up again which is a little annoying because it is clear that Rachel isn’t keen on having a baby at this point, she seems to enjoy her life just the way it is.  Bravo also edited it to keep bringing up the subject, yet we viewers are pretty smart, we know this was filmed months and months ago and Rachel isn’t pregnant now, nor has she recently given birth so why edit that into the show? 

Another plus on last night’s show is I didn’t hear Taylor mentioned at all, (I may have missed it but I don’t think so?)  I think that clearly Rachel and Brad came out on top of that fiasco so it is time to stop slamming Taylor at every turn, let her go on to live her own life and build her own business. 

One of the things that I do really respect about Rachel Zoe is that she is smart enough to know that saying anything negative about another person isn’t going to win her any popularity contests.  I would bet that Rachel has some really interesting stories about celebrities and fashion designers alike, but she isn’t stupid enough to put them on television.  Kudos to her for that!

While backstage, I noticed Caroline mentioning something about Lori wanting to come on the stage, basically insinuating that Lori might be a threat to Teresa. And this scene is exactly why I truly dislike this NJ cast with a passion. It’s sickening, and borderline nauseating to see how Caroline will defend to the end the ridiculous behavior of the likes of Teresa. Teresa shoved Andy, got in Danielle’s face, and made threats to Danielle, but Caroline is backstage trying to insinuate that Lori is the dangerous one. Yes she criticized Teresa for her behavior but her comments about Lori were downright ridic!

How True!  The one Housewife that we expect just a little bit more from is Caroline, yet she got down into the gutter with the rest of them by not only defending Teresa but stirring the shit with her comments about little Lori, what damage could she do?

As the Jersey girls negotiate with Bravo, I wonder if they originally ever even thought about the reruns of their show that will now appear on NBC Daytime television.  Was a residual package part of their original contract?  Did anyone ever think that these Housewives shows would end up in syndication?  Who knew when they originally signed contracts to do the show that there was more money to be had by repeating these episodes on their parent network? 

Do the ladies of Atlanta, Orange County and New York get paychecks every time their shows appear on NBC Daytime?  Did any of them, or any of their attorneys think to include residuals into their original contracts? 

Finally, I want to say a HUGE Thank you to everyone who reads and comments on my blog, yesterday (from midnight to midnight) we had 13,284 unique hits on the blog, that the second highest for me and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude!!!  I suppose I need to thank Teresa, Caroline, Danielle and Jacqueline as well, it was their antics highlighted in the blog.  I’m sure that had something to do with it, but I really appreciate the readers and contributors to the blog so much!
