New York City Meets The Old West
Welcome to the “I Hate Jill Zarin” chat for “The Real Housewives of New York City and Simon van Kempen.” Since we are all a part of the Bravo Family
now, we have to create a theme and a formula for our chat. Lynn told me to go for it so here it is:
Theme Quick Fire
The Shootout at the OK Corral theme was submitted by our Arizona commenters. They suspected that Jill and Simon would be drawing weapons this evening. They knew
that there are never any winners in a gunfight and there are never any survivors when Jill Zarin lays her cards on the table.
The Chicago enclave envisioned “The Valentine’s Day Massacre.” I suspect that
Chicagoans feel like we have been blind folded and are awaiting execution by firing
squad tonight. After tossing a coin, the Arizona gang won. They chose to have the IHJZ party in a Tombstone Saloon.
Fashions of the Evening
This was easy for everyone West of the Mississippi. They may wear boots, cowboy hats, jeans and teeshirts. The Easterners might not havethe proper attire so they can wear pajamas like Jeff Lewis when he is trying to get clients in the Hollywood Hills.
Open Bar
Our drinks will be Skinny Girl Margaritas by Bethenny Frankel, Ramona Pinot Grigio, and Lemonade for the teetotalers. (Kelly has a thing for lemons.)
Main Course
We will attempt to make toaster oven zucchini and mushrooms stuffed with tofu for our herbivores with reduced balsamic vinegar on a bed of brown rice. The carnivores will have chicken wings, beef steaks, potatoes, onions and beans cooked on a camp fire in an iron skillet.
Dessert
Cheesecake, ice cream in cones and some mores described by Jill Zarin as the treat she wanted in the Moroccan desert tent.

The guests will eat, discuss, and laugh while watching the show. The winner will be every single person who has been on “The I Hate Jill Zarin” blog from day one because you
all made this blog what it is. Without readers and commenters there would be no
reason for Lynn or me to write the blogs every day. You are the blog!
Jill Zarin may use her arsenal of NY gossip columnists and her PR department to fire at us, but she can’t harm us because we know this blog and we know Lynn. In the West, we know what is important our communities and this is a community that welcomes new and old friends.

I googled Simon and Alex for the whole year and never saw anything mean from him. He responds to the women’s behaviors, but I see nothing wrong with that. I think he has some recent tiffs, but this was in Dec. 2010 and I don’t remember him having issues with Jill on line.

This is the first episode I watched this season and watched primarily because of the hate blog and mean tweeting comments. Other than my hateful thoughts and agitation I want to randomly mention that I can’t remember ever seeing a HW dressed (to film) in jeans, without makeup before. Sonja looked like a real HW. And this will sound totally crazy, but I actually teared up when she was talking about how she felt.

I am new here, thanks to the mentioning of a hate blog by Bobby. hehe. I have been fascinated with the unfollow day for Jill and noticed her numbers went up. Being new to Twitter as well and that I have no life., I looked at her followers. Out of the 50 or so I looked at, at least 30 of them had minimal followers and no tweets. I hope to God Alex and Simon do quit the show. Not that I don’t like them, I do, but it is getting very old and tiresome every week to see Alex’s mouth gap open in disbelieve at the things being spewed to her by these idiots.

Yes, in early Jan 2011. Jill, Kelly, and Luan went to the Bogata Resort in Atlantic City. They were recording for bravo when a producer was notified that Ramona had tweeted about the Victoria video. When told Luann shut down the filming and she went to a hotel room with Jill to discuss. Somehow, the video came off the net right away. Within minutes. I don’t know how Luann did that so quickly.
If you remember, all of the housewives received that video from someone, but not Jill. Why not Jill? She is the center of the show? Why Alex and not Jill? I and others speculated that they did not have to send it to Jill because Jill had it. This still makes me wonder.

Sorry I think Alex is off-base. Simon and Jill weren’t friends. I highly doubt they ever got together on their own. His whole “I need to meet with you” thing was a clear attempt for a dramatic on-camera moment. C’mon! What are we- stupid? He’s not a freaking housewife! They didn’t have a relationship to fix. And I thought Jill was diplomatic in how she told him she had agreed too hastily. And the Simon acted like a petulant child. He CLEARLY lost contol of his emotions with the “watch out” and then having to leave the party.
Now the whole painting party scene was bs too. And none of the cast are nice to each other on Twitter- the same as they are on the show. I wouldn’t go do far to deem it bullying, but Alex’s blog makes it sound like Simon is an online angel and that is also bs.
Yeah, you have a point! I do think the whole Simon talking to Jill thing was set up to get more air time or whatever. And I wouldn’t say Simon & Jill were ever friends exactly, although I do think he’s historically gotten along with Jill better than Alex has. But to be fair, Jill’s husband had just pulled Simon aside, on camera, and accused him of being an active part of a hate blog against his wife, so desn’t Simon kind of have a right to ask Jill for a sitdown, to at least clear the air? After all, he knows it was actually Jill who pushed Bobby to do that in the first place. Also, I might agree that Jill had handled the situation well if I’d never seen or heard of Jill Zarin before, but unfortunately that’s not the case. The first thing she did after Simon calmly and respectfully asked her for a meeting was to deliberately fire up her flying monkeys and make what Simon asked her sound like a much bigger deal than it really was. And when she then went back to tell Simon she was refusing to talk with him, Jill explained her decision (in part) by commenting about the inappropriateness of a husband (like Simon) talking to someone else’s wife (like herself) that way. And of course the problem with that argument is that Bobby Zarin had not only spoken to Simon already about his wife Jills complaints, Bobby had also pulled Alex (Simon’s wife) aside, again on camera, to tell her to leave his poor little wounded wife alone. It’s appropriate for Bobby to lecture Simon’s wife about her (non-existant) aggresive behavior toward his wife, but it’s not appropriate for Simon to calmly ask Jill for a friendly chat to clear the air after Jill has pretty much accused him of doing something he didn’t even do? Jill has no room to talk when it comes to a husband talking to someone else’s wife. She can’t have it both ways.
Oh, and I agree that Simon did look like a big baby for saying, “Watch out!” of course. I won’t defend that, not that I think it’s really much of a threat either. But anyway, since I’ve never seen an ounce of evidence that Simon has cyber-bullied anyone, while Jill has a long history of bullying people in person, on the internet, on the radio, in the “news” media, in the gossip columns, and anywhere else she can get away with it, so even though Simon might have lost points for looking petulant, to anyone who knows these two people, I think he still wins overall.
We are forgetting that Jill accused Simon of creating and running this blog. The “cyberbullying” she is referring to are the blogs and comments here. I don’t agree with her, but I dont’ have a national podium to accuse her and not allow her to respond.

He absolutely had a right to find out what Bobby was accusing him of. So, he wanted to go to the source and get proof of the alledged ‘bullying.’ I saw his tweets from tonight and he regrets saying “watch out.” He said Jill pissed him off. He is a bit of an attn whore though. BUT if Miss Andy didn’t want him on the show he would have put the kibosh on that a few seasons ago doncha think?
I disagree again. Simon said NOTHING when Bobby talked to him. Barely any reaction. Now suddenly, he needs a separate lunch with Jill? He is way too into being a housewife.
And smompy is right–I had forgotten about when Bobby talked to Alex, but if he had said “Alex, let’s go out to lunch” I would have found that creepy too. Instead he just talked to her for a few minutes and she very politely refused to talk to him by saying “I need to talk to Jill.”
Maybe my reaction is because I am not a Simon fan–the attention-seeking outfits, the close-talking, the flashes of anger in his response to Sonja at the rally and now Jill last night, etc….In general I admire their relationship because they clearly share everything, but on the show it comes across as weird because it is supposed to be about the women.
Bawby approached Alex at Sonja’s party. But since that time, a number of times, we see these women go off about how it is not appropriate to ruin a party, yada. yada. So you cannot win here.
Bawby approched Alex in a different way. He didn’t ask for a sit-down to perpetuate it and get some camera time…but I agree, Bawby should not have gotten involved in a dispute between the women. I guess I want to hold Alex and Simon to a higher standard because they are supposed to be the nice, sane ones. But it’s difficult because sometimes they act pretty strange too.
Agree. With. Everything! I loathe Jill, but Simon is annoying as hell. He does want attention. I can’t stand when husbands get involved in their wives’ business. As much as I hate to say it, Jill handled herself pretty well last night. She absolutely should not go out to lunch with him. I think the only reason Crusty Barstool had the twins was as an accessory. She doesn’t seem to spend any time with them, if she did she wouldn’t have had to call someone to sit with the kid while she had lunch. I think she just likes to tell everyone that she is a single mother of twins and owns her own business.

This episode drove me over the edge. I want to slap Jill and Kelly. Jill is a narcissistic pig and Kelly is simply delusional and crazy. Talk about bullying – how can Kelly say she doesn’t like Alex turning red – Alex can’t control that – that was awful. Also telling her she is getting iced; Kelly has been watching the soprano reruns. The blonds should release a full statement of how bad Kelly was on SI. I really hate Jill’s personality and I also noticed her face is looking bad plus she has a lazy eye, and is getting a serious case of turkey neck. The facial stuff is probably from all the injections settling into weird places and I’ve been told that happens….Karma is a bitch – Jill’s outside is beginning to look like her inside.
Jill thinks because it’s injections, it’s a quick fix. Kind of like everything she does in her life. She uses spanx because she’s too lazy to lose weight. But the problem is, if you overdo it, it can start messing up your face.
I do have to say that this is the first NY episode in 2 years that I haven’t had to pause the DVR and leave the room or walk around the block. Reason 1: LuAnn wasn’t really in it and I really dislike her smarmy looks and condesending tone. Reason 2: Jill came off as an idiot which I really enjoyed. Reason 3: I like Alex and she is usually VICIOUSLY attacked but poor little Kelly just didn’t have it. Reason 4: Ramona went above and beyond in her kindness towards Sonja.
Thank goodness they mentioned “The Blog” because as of 2 weeks ago I was done with the show. It is a temporary saving grace for me but, in my mind, the only way to save it for me is to GET RID OF LUANN!!!
Get rid of LuAnn, Jill, Kelly and Clarabelle and I’ll watch another season.
I take for granted that Clarabelle won’t be back. And I am still in denial about Kelly surviving last season – just how long can someone be out of the looney bin before the orderlies realize the headcount is off? I have no hope of Jill going anywhere unless Andy just gets sick of her.

I’ve read the blogs that are already up. The brunettes seem to all be drinking the same Kool-Aid. I don’t know what’s in it, but it is hallucinatory. LuAnn, Kelly and Clarabelle’s blogs are full of poo. Alex is making a great deal of sense as usual and I think she is getting ready to take the kid gloves off and put on some boxing gloves instead. It hasn’t happened quite yet, but I see it coming. I hope she TKO’s them in the first round. From the previews, I think there is anger at the blondes for not having participated in LuAnn’s “worst record of the year”. I think the blondes were very wise to not go near Countess High Horse No Talent when she is within one mile of a microphone attached to a recording studio. Ramona’s, Sonja’s and Jill’s blogs aren’t posted yet. I think Ramona was wonderful to share the birthday party with Sonja. The slideshow of their shared past was touching and sweet and one of the few parts of the show that was enjoyable. Job well done Ramona! I salute you! Sonja, if I had a magic wand, I’d use it to help you. I jumped to the wrong conclusion about you regarding the MENY march. I publicly apologize to you. Forgive me, please. You’re a grand dame, in the best sense of the phrase. Well, that’s my take on tonight’s episode. What do you think?

Cindy is a horrible mother. Worse than that, she is a horrible human being. She treats her staff like sub-humans. Enough said on that, you get the point on this irrelevant person. Hope she doesn’t come back.

Here are my two main comments:
Let’s face it team, the unfollow Jill day did not go well. We underestimated the power of the holy dollar. Jill probably outsourced opening hundreds of twitter accounts to India. It’s cheap labor and you can go to amazon and hire a crew. It’s called mechanical turk. (That’s just one way to do it.) The good news is she knows how many folks really do hate her and her “brand”. On the other hand, the whole exercise gives credibility to her hate-monger claims. A blog named I Hate Jill Zarin is tongue in cheek because the community reads about many shows and personalities–not just the much hated Jill, but actively having people close accounts is questionable. I personally did not participate and that’s my opinion and choice.
My second rant, if you will, is about Simon. Look friends, I really think he needs to go away. He’s just a joke with his ridiculous over-the-top manner. He is not a housewife but he wants to be one so bad. I admire Alex for always defending her husband, but he gross to watch. Even though I can’t stand Jill, he was wrong to tell Jill to watch out. No, I do not think it was a threat per se, but it’s not what a gentleman does. It’s so ugly and tacky. It’s worth seeing Silex go just to get rid of Simon. Plus, I’m tired of seeing Alex get her butt kicked and writing what she should have said or really though on her blog.
These are my humble opinions, please do not feel I want you to agree. I’m respectful to all on this blog so please understand that these are my feelings and thoughts.
That is the beauty of this blog. We may not all agree, but we are all encouraged to express our opinions. Simon has said on Twitter all night tonight, that he regretted the “watch out” comment as soon as he calmed down. He was p.o.-ed because Jillous changed her mind immediately after agreeing to lunch with him. Personally I think he held back well because I would have let her have it right then and there.

I respect your opinion, and I am a big Silex fan. Have liked them from the begnning as I like their marriage. Yes they were a bit much on S1, but they grew on me. Simon is an extremely talented writer. I used to love his blogs about the HW as it was tongue in cheek, but with humor. He has never deliberately hurt any of HW in anyway or bullied them in cyberspace. I purchased their book and it was very well written and thought out. Silex is a team and I believe that is the part they play on the show. He did apologize on twitter for saying watch out to Jill, but he was steamed and explained same. He had a dynamic with Jill before Alex did.
Alex is not basically a confontational person, she is more level headed, but read her blog about how she views Kelly. I understand how you feel as I want to hit the TV when Kelly gets into one of her dialog sermons. I seriously hope the blondes kick some serious a$$ at the reunion.
The best thing about Lynn’s blog is the fact we all have differing opinions and get along here with respect and peace.
I still had fun on UNfollow Jill Zarin Day- even thought it’s success can’t be measured in numbers because of the reasons you mentioned- the message has been sent and delivered. Jill Zarin knows the truth, although she is probably unwilling to accept it.
I kind of agree with you about Simon. I don’t dig husbands becoming too much part of the story line. That’s part of the reason I really couldn’t stand Silex season 1-2
I agree with you Mary–I think Alex would be better off if Simon stayed out of things. I appreciate that their marriage is a partnership, but the show is about Housewives. If he just stuck to defending Alex instead of having his own “issues” with the other wives, we’d all be better off.

I don’t think she bought them all, did she advertise on Facebook or something? I can see people getting a couple of new accounts to boost this.
She probably didn’t buy them all, she does have some fans out there- and I am sure some people just follow a bunch of ‘personalities” but don’t call themselves friend or foe.
But she does have lots of phantom followers.and spam accounts following her.
Jill advertises on Facebook because she cannot get the number of followers she wants – she is still majorly lagging behind Bethenny Frankel’s followers, and she always will. Plus, she now has to have an explanation for the increase in traffic – she cannot just come out and admit she pays for a good deal of them.
I don’t know who I hate on this show more…there is a tie between Jill, LuLu, Kelly, and Cindy.

Luann – Calling Simon dangerous? really? And Alex needs to get a leash on him..what is he a dog? Maybe you should’ve gotten a leash on your husband and he wouldn’t have run off with another woman. And what was the preview of Luann asking Ramona in a condescending manner what type of message is she trying to give her daughter?
Kelly – totally completely bat s**t crazy! No one cares if you don’t like it, and yes you are attacking Alex. Why the hell does Kelly have to defend Alex and feel sorry for her because she has two kids and lives in Brooklyn? She makes it out like she lives in a housing project and is on food stamps. Unbelivable!
And finally Cindy…I watched her interaction with one of her children and my mouth was hanging open. Obviously she never spends time with them, nor does she understand normal behavior for a child that age. She didn’t do anything that was not normal for being a one year old. In fact she seemed very happy and content. She’s never put her baby in a restaurant high chair before? I hate to see what happens when those twins hit their terrible twos and have an complete meltdown in public over nothing. Or better yet when they throw her phone in the toilet.
Can someone please explain how Kookoo Beenwithsomeone can find Simon wanting to have lunch with Jillous as creepy, but she is fine with waxing and vajeweling in the middle of a night club? I think this entire scene at Crusty Barstool’s “launch” is creepy, weird, inappropriate, and disgusting.
I never thought the dump Jill on twitter Day would amount to much. We are a reasonably sized community, but most of don’t or can’t follow Jill on twitter. Even if we could it wouldn’t matter that much number-wise .. what 5K? Out of 158k?

Well, I still think it was amusing because she had to actively replace the drops – all day long. You know she did not have a great day yesterday, tehe..
I think I realized my true feelings for Jill. I don’t hate her. I pity her. She truly is pitiful. What is enriching to Jill’s life??? Being on Twitter, pretending to be something you are not, blaming other people for your own short comings, etc……..these things, to Jill, are so important to her life. These items, I really thing she fills, makes her life complete. That in itself is pitiful. So I don’t hate Jill. I pity her because her life is so unfulfilling yet she does not see it.
I think what bothers me most about what the brunettes are saying about simon with regards to his wife is that alex needs to “control simon”, “put a leash on him”. What kind of marriage is that?? Why is controlling your significant other a good thing in these women’s minds?? Marriage is about respect and putting your spouse first. The fact that these women really think alex should coose “her friends” over simon is a page straight out of the OC playbook a la tamra choosing her ex over vicki and vicki being mad about it.
Simon’s not my kind of guy. But they have a very strong loving relationship and I think the other ladies have a problem with that. Simon clearly adores Alex. I think they’re all jealous of that. They’ll all deny it but I think there’s some truth to it.
Alex looked gorgeous last night. In the past, I was not impressed, but sitting on that bed smiling? Stunning. She had jeans on too. Could the other women be jealous of her youth and the modeling contract?
I don’t think there is any jealousy involved. Simon is peculiar–I’m not a fan. I think Mario and Bobby (and to some extent now Jacques) come across as loving and supportive of their crazy wives.

I understand that it may get on some nerves – Simon being ALWAYS around. Lets face it: most of the “housewives” don’t even have husbands. But at this point they seemed to have gotten use to him – and Jill herself say she was the first of the wives friends with him (probably since the time he stepped in for her in that tennis match with Ramona)

You’re probably right lillybee. And those three know they can’t prove it anyway and so does everyone else on the planet that has any sense. But I know how you feel.
Leaving a comment that is not gushworthy is going to be a waste of time. I am still in shock over reading Kelly’s and Cindy’s blogs. Alex’s was spot on. Cindy absolutely slammed Ramona for daring to have a party honoring TWO people at the same. Kelly wrote that Simon has “cyber minions” to help him be mean. She then had the audacity to write this: “We’ve seen reality stars in the past cyberbully people to gain followers. It’s really offensive to read and to hear that people are so malicious.”
Maybe we are giving Jill way too much attention and feeding right into her narscisism (sp). Maybe next week we should talk about the show and not mention her once, even Lynn shouldn’t mention her in her blog of next week’s show. Shoot maybe after tomorrow, her name should not be uttered on this blog for one whole week or in any tweets, or on any facebook pages, or on any other blogs by us. Wouldn’t that be so refreshing?
We know this may sound crazy guys,but we here think it would be great if somehow we could plan a few days for all of us here on IHJZ, to throw a meet and greet with each other in Ny and throw a party in honor of Lynn and her blog now being famous. Until now, Kelly’s blogs have been mean spirited and right in line with the meanness displayed on the show. Now (after the reunion) she seems to be reigning herself in a bit.. am I the only one noticing that?

SOMETHING happened at the reunion for her to change course a bit, and I’m betting that the blondes won their arguments and someone told Kelly how bad the brunettes came across and she better cool it with the hate-filled tone in her writing.
Cindy..well, she just gave up long ago. Her blog will be obligatory. Three or four lines of nothing. She knows she’s not returning.
Re-watching the scene with Crusty Barstool and her parents in the restaurant just really showed how none of them seem to be all that adept at taking care of children. I mean her parents look like they could care less whether or not the kid was there and Crusty has no clue what to do with the kid. Why did she have them if all she was going to do was pay other people to take care of them?
No kidding about her parents. When my mother sees her grandchildren (not my progeny), I don’t think she notices or cares about any of the adults in the immediate area. She grabs those kids and runs!
I agree. But also, they seemed very frail and possibly at an age where they have a hard time being mobile or even taking care of themselves.

I love Alex and Simon but…
I am not sure I can watch this anymore.
Every week it gets more ridiculous and I have come to the sad conclusion that since $350,000 dollars worth of jewels is not enough to make Jill happy, Bawby has taken the next step: He bought her a tv show. There is just no other explanation. These scenes are not ‘unfolding’ they are planned, rehearsed, and executed. The scenario’s have perspective and point of view. Andy openly despised the two most well-liked cast mates, Ramona and Alex. He supports and promotes the three members who are not only despised but also among the most miserable human beings on the face of television. When “The Situation” comes off as being more moral and “Snooki” has more capacity for empathy than the people on your show, you are in trouble.
I said I would quit housewives if Alex was gone but I am just at the point where I don’t know if I can take much more. I want to support Alex and Simon because I feel that both are intelligent, well-educated, and compassionate people. But this entire season is unfolding according to Jill Zarin’s twisted dictates, and I feel like I can’t even watch two of the nicest people on reality tv being ripped apart like this.
Listening to KKK tell Simon to ‘be a man’ was revolting and I am surprised he didn’t punch her out, I just wish he’d have said something like ‘I think you are man enough for both of us’. How dare she. And the only part of the show tonight that was even bearable was the part of Alex’s meeting with Kelly where Kelly was blabbering on, making even less sense than usual, and the camera caught Alex struggling to keep the corners of her mouth from turning up into a smile and laughing in Kelly’s face. That is the best moment probably of this entire season for me, to see a hint of reality coming through the very biased and skewed camera lens of some of the bitchiest producers to ever film a reality show. It’s getting so bad that I almost would rather watch the show where people have to eat grasshoppers and get locked in a box with snakes for ten minutes, and I hated that show although I can’t remember the name of it. Seeing Alex and Simon on this show is the same thing, only wild animals have far more class than Jill, Loser Ann, or KKK.
I am defecting to Miami Ink and The First 48: Missing Persons. I didn’t sign up to watch innocent people be crucified by diabolical lunatics who should really just be put out of their misery. I might watch the reunion…but probably not. Because the reunion will be as fake as all the issues on this show have been; it’s all completely contrived at this point…so watching the brunettes fight these made up battles is probably too much for me to stomach.

Well I watched the show and frankly the only part I enjoyed was Ramona’s party for Sonja and herself. Ramona has a good heart, but she is still letting jz get to her. She needs to do what Bethenny did, just cut her off at the pass, throw jz ass to the crub KOOKOO needs a higher doseage in her meds. She is totally nuts and BRAVO I still say, is just as nuts as she is by keeping her on the show. How in the hell or maybe I should say, why in the hell didn’t Alex either reach across that table and slap the living shit out of her or just tell KOOKOO to STFU and leave. As for that matter, if it had been me, I would never have agreed to even meet with KOOKOO in the first place.
Andy Cohen is a d-head, he even thinks he is being funny, NOT! He is just revolting to watch any longer, as is jz.

I hope you see this, posting here because it’s Simon related. I don’t post often but I read and enjoy it here everyday. I couldn’t sleep last night so I was on Youtube. Have you all seen the video of Bethenny imitating Simon? It is hysterical. I don’t know how to put the link up but when you have a minute go and watch. Just search Bethenny imitates Simon. I didn’t like Simon in the beginning but do now. She has him down pat. I think she’d be great on SNL.
Jill knows Simon isn’t Cyber bullying her & he has NOTHING to do w/Lynn’s blog. What Jill is doing is trying to remain relevant because of the rumors that the current cast may be replaced by actual wealthy NY housewives. She wants her own national tv show. And surprise Bethenny is getting a show. Jill doesn’t want ANYONE, especially B to show her up. She was on the Dog Whisperer, Nate Burkus’ show, The Talk, & tonight on a HGTV show about NY Apts decor.
Her book, Bed Bath & Beyond bedding did not do what she was hoping & her Skweeze line has HUGE competition(Spanks) & others in the marketplace. I don’t know who her PR, lawyers, & business mgr are, but I would ask for my money back because this latest move of hers is going to backfire so greatly that there will be shrapnel all over the Zarin house.
I always said that if ANY of the Housewives throughout the franchise wanted to start some kind of career from their reality/celebrity that they’d better do it while they were on the show because they wouldn’t be relevant when the shows ended, but I didn’t expect any of them to go this far to get the career. Some psych exams are definitely called for in my opinion.
